I have a desire that seems totally ****ed. Doesnt show any signs of life at all, no leds, no vibrates, no hboot, no led backlight etc
Will a riff box unbrick the motherboard?
Anyone here offer that service?
Thanks

You managed to get it fixed or found anyone to fix it?
The Desire was already messed up, might of been SLCD bricked, it also kept turning off by itself. The only way I could boot it was to put it in the freezer, so I made a gold card ran a SLCD RUU, but that crashed at 70% and it resulted in the brick lol
What you gonna with your phone now if you cant get it fixed?
I also have a bricked Inspire. Unfortunately, riff has not issued any support as of yet for this phone but i expect they will in the future.

Not even a Riff box will fix it?
Bricked Desire
I've also bricked my desire (by bad radio flash), but this is not end for your phone. Find nearest service which can jtag flash whole system to nand memory. It can fix every kind of brick.
Thanks, Sent the phone off today hopefully be back this week working.
Riff can repair bricked desired successfully. I repair but don't know how to flash now. I can go now in recovery menu but whenever I run ruu, its bricked again. 4 exclaimation marks. Even make its supercid. Will someone guide what to do now?

Hey Geeks,
I need some help and I bet that you could help me!
I ve used the search engine to not post anything someone did before. But there was nothing that could help me.
First I ll describe you what I ve done to brick my Desire HD:
My phone is rooted, S-OFF, ENG S-OFF with CM 7. After installing the new ROM I wasn`t able to install anything from the amrket. So I ve looked up for the reason and tried different things to sovle it. I ve read somewhere that it could help to add a partition to my SD-card. So I ve used the ROM Manager to format my sd card and create a partition.
ROM Manager asked me if I am sure bla bla... you know what I mean. After giving ROM Manager su-permission my phone shuts down. From there on nothing happened. (and still no patition on my sd card).
It`s not reacting to the power button, to the volume-down + power button nor is blinking my LED when I connect it to the USB-Port. Seems like it`s out of energy (but my akku was charged before I ve stzarted with the partition of my sd card).
I ve tried to put out the akku for several minutes. No reaction.
Removing SD-Card before pushing the power button: No reaction
Plug in to charge battery without hitting any button... some hours later: still no reaction
Formating SD-Card: No reaction
Then I ve tried to install the RUU 1.32., saved it on my sd-card, plugged phone in to start... my pc is not detecting my phone.
And now I am helpless
So it doesn't boot at all? Because if it doesn't, you are pretty much screwed...no boot -> no access -> no fix, but I don't believe that you can screw your phone up that badly by partitioning your sd-card.
Unless someone has a fix for this (and the problem doesn't solve itself somehow), your best bet is to send your phone to HTC for a repair, they probably won't charge you anything if it is still covered under warranty, since they can't really check for any modifications if it doesn't boot. It is probably a hardware problem any way.

The fact that it doesn't boot at all is a good thing for send it back for warranty purpose. But if you formated your sd-card, you lost root anyway. You have to make a backup of your SD-Card before you format/partition it, and then copy everything back.
And your initial issue was maybe due to an outdated version of Gapps...
why should he loose root if he formats his sd-card? you have root even without an sd-card.
if nothing helps to get your DHD back to life, you probably have to send it to HTC. but I think it's covered by warranty since it's (probably) a hardware fault.
btw, i think i've seen a thread like this somewhere here yesterday... i'll have a look and post a link if i find something
Edit: found it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013582&page=2
look at page 2. there are some people with the same problem, but there is no solution yet.
But you do have CWM-Recovery on it don't you?
And if, can you get into Recovery?
Had similar Problems, once...
But my phone only showed the white HTC Logo and that was it....
What i did was the following... flashed Revory via Fasbootload from Computer...
Next, i formatted my sd card via computer and copied a new Rom.zip onto it.
In my Case, leedroid.
Next, i just flashed it and it happened to work again, luckily.
he can't even boot into the bootloader.

Hardware fault or not, rooting voids warranty. Let's hope that they can't inspect the internal memory.
Anyway, is the phone reacting to connecting to a proper charger (try to leave it plugged in for a couple of hours even if the LED doesn't light up)? The other thing you could try is to find a friend with a DHD and swap the batteries just to try if somehow you managed to kill your battery.
hi Sleipnir1985,
go back to your shop,
when did you buy it? they must take it for service, or they give you new one.
it is only best solution in this case
if you take battery out for 5! min, then plug it in and hold volume down then push power button - nothing happened, this is it, the end...
cheers/

yes, but HTC replaces your phone if it's a hardware and not a software fault. a friend of mine got his DHD replaced with eng hboot, radio S-OFF, custom rom and so on. and lots of people here on XDA also.
Here`s another mate with the same problem.
I am going to give my HTC to the shop this evening. Push your thumbs that I ll get a new one

When I finished the phone worked well, but then I got bored of gingerbread quiser again become root, and that's when my phone brick. Now not light, it does not go bootloader fastboot, CWM, nothing. Only if I turn volume + volume - and power, virbra 7 times and LED lights green battery and nothing more. It does nothing, it is a brick

I'm fairly new to the forum, and i've read all the related posts about this problem, but all of them sooner or later get to the same conclusion ... warranty.
I've tried to install an RUU (the wrong one it seems) and pulled the battery too soon (i think)... and it's dead, completely dead, no orange led, no recovery, nothing.
The big problem now is i've got no warranty, and i want to resolve the problem somehow maybe one of you found a solution, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
The only way you can recover your phone now is to send it to HTC to fix it, or look into getting someone with a Riff box to do it for you.
Hi,
I got Desire for my friend (not working). Its stuck at HTC logo.
I have tried running RUU and its install fine (goes through the whole process). But the phone is still stuck on bootscreen. The phone is S-ON i have tried PG99IM method.
Is there anything I can do to bring that phone to life? Isn't this weird that I can succesfully run RUU but the phone is still dead?
Do you think it might be hardware related? If yes.. which part I would need to change? I work in electronics industry so I might be able to replace some electronics.
Thank a lot guys
Marcin
If it doesn't boot after an RUU, I would expect it to be hardware, either Motherboard or NAND, both will require swapping the motherboard.
Wont HTC fix it?
I have just turned on my desire. and it booted up ok..but then resetted itself again and stuck on bootscreen again..so if it is a hardware damage why did it boot up?
Is your phone back on stock?

Check if you are s-on in bootloader, just in case. If this is so, I would sent it to htc for repair.
Thats it. I killed the phone. I have stripped down the motherboard to just PCB and put it through the reflow oven in hope that any dry joints will re-solder. Unfortunatelly after that processz won't turn on at all. Where is the Hboot stored in the hardware?
well i guess i keeep screwing my self over from one problem to another
but after i found a way to install a root without phone being able to load completely i think i bricked my phone here is why
my phone doesnt want to charge n when i try to power on it doesnt vibrate ... but i do see a dim red light when usb is on when its off it goes away n my laptop makes the noise when i connect it
Can you give us a more thorough explanation please. Don't understand properly.

Not much info given so i'll start with the most basic question.....
Have you got HTC Sync installed on your pc? And a battery of about 70%?
If you do try installing the latest RUU posted in a few topics under this page....
likewise im bricked
i tried to update my hboot but it frooze n my phone cut off and has no led light when i try to connect thru usb but i hear the beep on my laptop when i try to power nothing or try to boot into hboot nada is that good enough?

I tried to unlock the bootloader on my device a little over a week ago - bricked it completely.
Had updated HBOOT and everything went fine - 'success' message appeared, etc.... Then my handset died and it wouldn't switch back on; it just flashed on and off repeatedly when powered on and I couldn't stop it, unless I pulled the battery. Couldn't access bootloader, couldn't do anything.
Took it to the local Three shop and they wouldn't touch it. So, I chanced my luck with HTC and was upfront about what had happened, i.e. I'd started the bootloader unlock process using their own HTC Dev software.
I've just got the 'phone back and they had to replace the motherboard. Haven't charged me for picking it up, via UPS, the repair OR sending it back to me, also via UPS.
I had hoped they'd ship back with the bootloader unlocked but they haven't! Doh.
Ah well, can't complain. HTC have definitely earned my gratitude, though, and I'll no doubt stick with them in future. I've just got to remove all the crappy pre-loaded software again.
so i basically have a bricked phone damn i needed it only phone i have n probably will have for awhile i had so much important #'s , notes , ext... im clueless to either tell HTC the truth or just buy another android phone idk :/

You haven't even given details. Did you root? Custom ROM?
Try flashing an RUU.
My experience
This weekend I bricked my phone almost also.
Just installed a new version of my ROM to test and then it hanged or so.
When trying power on (normally and with volume down), nothing happened and I got the 3 vibrates.
I removed my SD card and then the phone would boot again
I really hope I don't get that anymore
BTW: my SD card is really old, around 2 years or more (so that may be the cause)
Format your SD card, then see if that works

Hello,
Let me give some information on fore hand.
A few months back my phone suddenly decided that it was funny to give me an error about "Settings has stopped working". This wouldnt go away. So i just downloaded this rom: 0PKVIMG.zip.
This way i was able to revive my phone whenever it decided to show that message again. So i kept it on my external SD Card. In case it would happen again.
Today, it decided to show the encrypted screen for no reason(Phone was in my pocket.). After i entered my Decryption key (It did accept my Screen lock pin) It showed me the error that the data was corrupted.
I went into recovery(Had 80% of battery left) reflashed that rom. After it said it was finished it was stuck on the bootloader for almost 2 hours.(Sometimes it took it an hour to show the begin screen.)
So i decided to reset it with the Power and Volume up keys. My screen went black and it didn't turn on anymore. So i came home and connected my charger just in case.
Then the battery charging light indicator started to blink. Then i knew there was something wrong. So i took out my ExSDCard just incase. Connected my phone to my PC.
My PC recognized it as: RELINK HS-USB QDLOADER 9008 (COM5)
After a long time spending on google i found out that this is the "Download Mode" for the Qualcomm chipset/processor.
I downloaded QFIL with some package i found on here in an other Thread for an other Device. It was for an other phone so i thought well, it's broken anyway lets try it. Ofcourse it said SaharaFail because the files didn't match with my phone.
I tried going into fastboot mode. Won't go in there. Bootloader/Recovery won't go in there either.
I was hoping before i send it in that i could fix it myself with a bit of help from you guys.
Thanks in advance, i hope i provided enough information and i am sorry for my English.
I am from The Netherlands and my English isn't that great.
Kind Regards,

Well Quallcom HSUSB mode is the mode where you can send direc commands to the cpu in hex speak... i remember that from another phone... so you will only be able to revive it if you find the correct msm8939.hex that can start the download of a partition table and partitions.... i will be honest to you... this whole process is only for very high experienced onces and you will need help from other m8s owners ( you need dumps of most partitions )
so if you find that mprg8939.hex anywhere we can try to revive it.... BUT in 90% of cases your IMEI can not be restored so you cant do calls.... in 40% your emmc is so hard damaged that you cant use it....
there is a second posibility wich is not possible on every phone.... on i9300 (sgs3) you can revive such a phone by creating a microsd card with a partitiontable like the phone and all coresponding partitions so you can boot straight from sdcard... but this case is really rare

Thanks for your quickreply. I hope someone can provide me these files. The first phone i own that i didn't root or mess about with fails on me. Lucky me!
I was hoping i could find something in a RUU but my internet speed is very slow. (600kb old telephone line..) I was afraid it was pretty bad. Still can't figure out why these "problems" happend. It just suddenly appeared. And the zip on the SD card was a good solution but i think the EMMC was already corrupted when the first error occurred months back. Will this fall under warranty? The device has some scratches on the back. A few dents on the sides. But the screen did never crack luckily.
Again thank you and i hope i can get it sort off working again because my subscription will end in April next year...
