How to clean lent from phone speaker? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey what's up everyone? I'm trying to figure how to safely clean out pocket lent from the ear speaker. The one that has the red cover at the top. It doesn't hurt my sound quality but I guess I'm a bit ocd about my phone being clean, lol. Well thanks in advance for your help.
DINC|CM7|INCREDIKERNEL

Compressed air

i would worry about the high pressure damaging the speaker with comp air..

my speaker just crapped out all crackly. they only give u 5 days to return the defective device from the 10. and they wanted to charge me $13 for overnight, every other time it's been free w/o me even asking. she had to get approval from the manager, once they saw how much we pay a month they were like ok i'm sorry about that lol

I do own a compressor so I've tried blowing it once before. This lent(is that how you spell lent?) Seems stubborn. I wont worry about it, heh. Nobody else knows its there except me. Thanks everyone.

Lent in the Christian tradition, is the period of the liturgical year from Ash Wednesday to Easter. The traditional purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer — through prayer, repentance, almsgiving and self-denial — for the annual commemoration during Holy Week of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus, which recalls the events linked to the Passion of Christ and culminates in Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Lint, in the fuzzy form, is the state of cotton or other fabric, after it starts to wear due to putting things in and out of your pocket repeatedly. This lint is good for many things, including, but not limited to the following:
Filling belly buttons
Starting camp fires
Clogging cell phone speakers

Do you ever get neck pain/tension headaches from using your smartphone?

I've been in a few car accidents so that doesn't help. I (try to) use my smartphone as much as possible when I'm able. It's pretty much replaced my computer. Looking down at it while using it makes my neck strain bad sometimes and contribute to my daily headaches. Anyone else out there experience this?
Dont understand why you post your pain in e4gt specific forum. Only e4gt is giving you your neck pain & headaches?

Its probably because of your car accidents. Do you experience this while reading books and magazines?
You should see a doctor, possible a physical therapist about that.
Neck injuries can be really complicated... And without treatment they can remain painful for a long time.
I don't think you're asking in the right place, but I'll bite. One of my dads ex wives was a physical therapist for a VA hospital. Basically your neck is the support system for your big head haha. The further you move your head forward the more pressure is applied. Your best bet is to become more aware of the angle of your head and try to use your phone at eye level at a straight level at all times.
Also, since you've been in a car accident it would surprise me if you've really ****ed up your discs causing more pain from the position of your neck. You need to start going to therapy of some kind to work on fixing your discs and getting them back to normal.

Because I have a et4g and since it seems I use this often, compared to other phones. Yes I've seen a Dr regarding the accidents. He said come in and get adjustments and learn to live with it. Lastly, I was trying to create a topic to generate discussion. I was wondering if other people, that haven't been in accidents, experience this too. I guess not.
I have ongoing neck & upper/lower back issues related to a lifetime of playing sports and, to an extent, you do reach a point where you either have surgery or learn to live with it. I've chosen the non-invasive route of learning to live with it because, while surgery might relieve some of my pain, it isn't actually going to be able to reverse the wear and tear on my body. I've been to a chiropractor and, yes it feels amazing, but most insurances do not cover long-term chiropractic care leaving you with a hefty bill that adds stress to your life with aggravates the injury you've sustained.
As mentioned above you should pay close attention to the angle you hold your head when doing anything, not just dealing with your smartphone. When I read, work at the computer and even drive (especially in downpours) I find myself craning my head forward and this is very bad for the neck, shoulders, spine, etc.
I realize we'd look sorta funny holding our phones at eye level all the time but perhaps limiting the amount of time you spend staring at the phone would help, also I use Advil because I won't take prescription pain meds.
In all honesty though, the best thing I've used is mind over matter and that's the truth. I used to suffer debilitating migraines, temporary upper body paralysis, and other assorted sports related pains so rather than become a walking pharmacy I've learned to use breathing exercises, meditation and sheer willpower. Also, when I find myself aching from an activity I take a break from it.
I hope you find some relief, I know the pain sucks.
As you guys probably know, I have 2 phones and if I spend too much time messing with both (especially at night) I sometimes wake up with headaches and sore neck and shoulders. I call it Flashitis...lol. The worst for me is if I have brightness high at night and it triggers a headache. If I wake up with a headache I am shot for the whole day. They don't go away
Edit..I worked for a Chiropractor for several years and, depending on where you hold your phone, it can trigger the pain. You are not supposed to hold it close to your chest with your head down. You should try to keep it nose high in front of you so you aren't arching down to look at it.

I feel your pain man. I get the worst headaches from sitting at computers. They come from bad posture.
In my case, I have strained the occipital nerves near the back of my head by pushing my neck forward when I am really focused on something that is on the screen. It generates a headache that starts at the back of my head and moves over my ears towards the front (path of occipital nerve).
The doctor told me to stop slouching, and keep my chin in while sitting at the computer. This simple advice has changed my life. I simply dont get these aweful headaches anymore, good posture stops the nerves from being irritated.
I will say though, good posture is almost uncomfortable when you are used to slouching, its easy to just slouch after about 2 minutes of sitting straight, if that. But just do it, and it may change your life, seriously.
I feel like this phone makes my eyes weaker for some reason lol

...or dim your screen a little more. I already get bored pretty easily with this device, so it's not hard for me to put it down and fund something more constructive to do.
Your car wrecks (depending on whether you were hit in the rear or did the hitting ;P Joke?) can cause facet jamming as well as ligament/muscle damage and a host of all other crap. This can cause an increased or decreased lordosis (curve of the spine) which could result in tightened suboccipitals (the muscles that lie between the back of your skull and the vertebrae that hold your head up) and if you stretch them it can cause pain...that just being one case that could cause pain. Regardless, chiropractic care as well as your primary care provider (most likely an MD) should be able to effectively co-manage your case! Also, there's some fascia that's attached to your spinal cord that, if hypertensive, will cause pain. Sorry to ramble...I'm go to a chiropractic college and receiving chiropractic care is what's been helping me.
Maybe get your vision checked. My brothers had those symptoms, adjusted their prescriptions and were money.

THIS. I was going to say the same thing. The Defender is a lifesaver. I dropped mine on the blacktop asphalt standing up out my car and couldn't even find a scratch or imperfection on the case, much less the phone.

I don't use a case because I think they detract from the design of the phone. I'm just very careful and I suppose I pay for insurance in case something crazy happens.
My old ASUS A8JS ($1500) took a similar spill off the roof of my car when I took a turn doing about 25Mph. I stopped in the middle of traffic (no one honked - must of been the look on my face) and collected my laptop and the battery (which was on the other side of road). My only hope at that time was that the HDD survived (hadn't done a backup in some time), but to my surprise everything still functioned pretty much perfectly (touchpad seemed a little off, but it sucked anyway). In the end it was pretty scratched up, but it always made for a good story to tell...
Your move Samsung.

Odd Phenomenon, faux 3D!

Hey all, I was looking at the Final Countdown widget on my screen with my glasses (I usually wear contacts) and I noticed the numbers seem to come off the screen just a smidge! I looked at it without my glasses and lo and behold, it was as flat as the screen. Lol Why am I seeing this? I have pretty bad astigmatism, so idk if the difference in my lenses cause this little faux 3D effect? Lemme know what you think!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Yes, I can explain why but it's easier to say that it's an optical illusion because of the way the glasses are compared to the contacts.
Focal points, etc.
I too experience this, I had eye surgery on my left eye but my right eye is perfect vision. Hence I wear contacts as well, tho the right one is so minor I might as well not on that side. When I switch to my glasses, I'll get slightly odd effects, especially at some angles or surfaces.
On a side note, if you see this in your screens, keep in mind it can/will happen elsewhere, like when you're driving with your glasses....

Hahaha, better get out of the oncoming lane then!
Nah, but really, if you have astigmatism, only the actual very center of the glasses lens is truly in focus and some "views" through the lens, if you don't turn your head will be blurry or you may see things that aren't really quite there. You do get used to it over time and tune it out, but if you watch for it, you see it.

Since this thread is sooo not on topic with everything else, mind telling me what brand contacts you wear?
My doc had me switch brands again, hoping these will be more comfortable in the long run.
I went from Purevision Toric monthly to Extreme H2O 54 toric bi weekly.
Purevision was nice, stayed clear and you could sleep in them, but irritated my eyes after 5 hours.
Extreme H2O very comfortable, pricy but collect "gunk" faster, so I end up removing and cleaning them in the afternoons.
Why can't there be a perfect model?

Haven't you ever had a contact fold up in your eye while driving? 100x worse. It happens to me once in a while, and it has almost sent me into the median a couple of times. I don't have glasses anymore, but I can't remember ever having an issue driving with glasses. But, ymmv, I suppose.

I wear glasses and ive noticed this effect.
For example, when looking at titanium backup, some of the entries are red text, and others are gray, white or yellow. The red text seems to stand out in front of the other colors. When i take off my glasses and refocus, the effect go away.
Maybe it has something to do with the coatings they put on the lenses? Ive also noticed when looking at flourescent lights that one edge has a blue halo, the other edge has a yellow halo.

No, not yet, but since I really only need the contact for the one eye, at least I'd still be able to see.
I think it is cool. I wear contacts all the time and never wear my glasses because I feel like I might wake up and my daughter is standing next to the bed and she gets hit because I don't know who she is. Yes my vision is that bad. But I do see the 3D effect that you mention when wearing my glasses. And I also wear acuvue oasis.

For those that have creeking sound on display's corners

This is actually not a huge issue to be honest but i do remember that it annoyed me. I don't think you can tell you have it, unless you actually check.
I was able to get rid of the creeking sound though. I don't guarantee it works but hey, it is worth a try?
Well basically i just played a game or used my phone long enough for it to get warm. Once the phone has gotten warm enough, i would place my pointer finger on the back side and thumb on the display ( spot where it creeks). Next i would apply pressure. Obviously you are not going to want to apply too much pressure as to damage the display. I have been doing this multiple times throughout the day and now i no longer hear anything.
ps: i even fixed the gap this way(had it at the top of my screen, dust would fill in). Now it is nicely sealed.
I will not be held accountable for anyone trying to apply pressure with a hammer
Good luck
Sounds very interesting, not sure if it would help anybody else. Sounds like some harry potter magic stuff

Mine does the same and yeah it is annoying when you pay close to 600€ for such a phone.
So what you're doing is actually warming up the glue and so on..? sounds interesting.mine started to creek after a month of use. I think it's not acceptable for 600e phone

Hey man, I bought my hox a week ago and I noticed the cracking today. I tried your fixed, I heated the phone up while playing shadowgun for 10 min and then applied pressure and it seems that the cracking is gone. Thanks for now and I will check back if the cracking appears again(hope not)
Thanks again
I had no creaking on the display side that is until I dropped my phone yesterday luckily no scratches or dents as I had a case on which popped off on the drop.
Will try this out later and try fix it, creaks on bottom left and right.
Glad to hear it is working for others as well. Either way, if you hear any creeking noise again just repeat the steps. At least inmy case after repeating it a number of times it vanished

May not be that much of a deal to you, but I think it is a big deal if you consider that you did pay around 600$ or 550euros for a phone, so you want it to feel like a flagship phone as well.

My first drop

I forgot my phone was in my lap when I was getting out of the car. I heard it slap the ground and just knew it was bad. I also had no case on it. I took it off earlier in the day to do something and forgot to put it back on. The only consolation is that I was at the mall and I ended up getting a galaxy nexus. I'm still so pissed.

AHahaha that nexus sure looks like an iphone!
But for real...that same thing happened to me. I have the Ballistic SG Case that would protect my SGSII from the apocalypse but one day I decided it was a little too bulky and took it off to feel the true beauty of my phone and not 30 minutes later I got out of my truck at the gas station and saw my beautiful white galaxy slide across the concrete...mine only caught a little nick on the corner thank god but it still hurt none the less. And its funny how as soon as you take it out of its case it decides to fall!
The pic was taken before I got the Nexus. Had to go to the jewelry store before radio shack so she shopped and I took pictures of my phone. I got the insurance this time.

I just graduated college last week and I have 3 interviews this week. Of all weeks to have been potentially out of a phone. I am glad I was able to get a new phone. Don't do what I did. Get insurance.
The Nexus is a darn fine phone, but it's slower than the ET4G. Obviously plenty fast enough for most things, but it is slower and that difference will rear it's ugly head time to time.
Well, I must be lucky, I've dropped my phone tens of times, onto ci crete, grass, floors, from all different levels. Actually earlier today ixwa riding my bike and did a kickflup, it fell outta my pocket and I landed the back tired on it, no cracks yet, looks just like new

Damn that sucks. Has happened to me a few times, except every time it has fallen out of my lap from a moving truck, which sits twice as high as a regular truck/car. I've dented every corner but my screen has luckily remained perfect. I must've gotten the toughest epic touch ever built.
Sent via phone that is not the one coming out next month that I want really bad even though not long ago this one was the phone I wanted really bad.

I thought you just shake it and the cracks go away...
Oh wait, that's only on my "Crack Your Screen" app (aka... my iPhone app)
I've resisted putting on an Otterbox or Trident case for a while. I don't want to add too much bulk to the phone, and since I've grown a distate for belt clips (I don't always wear belts, and as a bigger kid growing up, my gut would always get in the way), I keep the phone in my pocket. There's a few light scratches on the screen, and one or two on a corner where I dropped it. Drives me a little crazy sometimes, but my phone has fared well otherwise. I have the kickstand grip from the Sprint store, that's it.
I "acquired" a first gen iPod Nano last year, before Apple recalled a bunch for battery problems. I sent mine in and they replaced it with a sixth-generation nano, which I thought was awesome (and no, I'm not an Apple fanboy). I was getting out of my car with a couple of bags, and not realizing there was a clip on the back of the iPod, I just tried to grab and hold it with the bags. Fate was not so kind to me, as I dropped the iPod, face down, onto the strip of driveway I park on. Right onto some rocks. While it still works, it doesn't look very pretty.
Now that I moved in with my fiancee and her dogs and cats, I really need to be careful with my hardware.

Well, I must be lucky, I've dropped my phone tens of times, onto ci crete, grass, floors, from all different levels. Actually earlier today ixwa riding my bike and did a kickflup, it fell outta my pocket and I landed the back tired on it, no cracks yet, looks just like new
Glad you got a new phone

This. This is why I have a case on mine. I've dropped mine on several occasions, two being the same situation as yours, not a scratch on it whatsoever.
this is why you dont set your phone on your lap in your car. not to mention, if that **** slides off and gets stuck between the middle console and the car seat, it can be a ***** to remove. i always rest it on the seat, in my crotch area, with the speaker up so i can hear the ringer and notifications. plus i can feel it vibrate which is always nice.

I generally leave the phone on the passenger seat (when no one else is with me), in the cup holder, or in a compartment under my stereo. That's probably in ascending order of safety. I've dropped my phone down the crevice between my seat and the center console, and yes, it is a pain to get out of there. Always worried I will scuff up the screen or find some long lost piece of food under there to fall on top of.
