Questions about "dropbox" - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Installed dropbox on phone and laptop. Can put files on laptop and access them on phone, however, when I try to "upload" from phone to drop box it keeps saying "upload failed".
So, my question is: how do I put files into dropbox from my phone?

First thing I thought of. The weird part...I am using CM7 FINAL, had to change a line code to use Verizon's VVM. After changing the line code..it uploaded??
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App

Just uploaded a file to my Dropbox account and it completed successfully, I'm using CM7 #40

Check the log-in details on your phone.

Not sure how this happened:
I flashed CM7 FINAL. the only thing I had an issue with was running Verizon's visual voicemail. I read that I needed to change a line in the programming for "true" to "false". AFTER doing that ( to get visual voicemail to work) the dropbox started uploading files. Again..not sure what happened..but it works now..lol

I saw anothee thread solving this problem but can't find it. It would not start tethering and would not connect back to my own wifi. How do I solve this?

Wifi calling on multiwindow roms

Ok I think I found a very simple method to get wifi calling on multiwindow roms.
Check if your rom has the app wificall.apk in /system/app/
Get QcustomShortcuts from market (free)
Make a shortcut to:
Package: com.movial.wificall
Class: com.movial.wificall.Settings
You now have wifi call settings on multiwindow rom
Ok so....I tried on a different rom, the required apps don exist but im making progress.
Needed apps in /system/app
wificall.apk
ip-provider.apk
IPService.apk
gba-service-TMO-Signed.apk
Need Secsettings.apk from a wificalling rom
Need some other files ( I have copies a bunch from wifi calling rom, but these are the ones I think changed things)
In framework:
gba-service-lib.jar
In etc/permissions
gba-service-lib.xml
Only thing is it tells me bad sim.

Hey Dennis,
Forgive me but I'm unclear as to whether or not you just are referring to having needed those files or whether you're asking for someone to send them out of a stock install. If it's the latter I can help. If it's the former... well then I'm just out of my depth!

(Mod) Wifi only script

I've seen a lot of people asking about something like this lately, so I thought I'd dig up its grave and share it here to. ... Some of you may remember this from the Eris and OG Inc forums as well.
This is a very simple script that utilizes the radiooptions command to disable the radio but still allow use of WiFi. I wanted to make it to be run in init.d on startup but haven't successfully got it working that way yet so for now it can be run with script manager. This script can be run as follows:
1. Download the script and place it somewhere on your SD Card. (Maybe make a folder named Scripts to keep things organized)
2. Download Script Manager from the market.
3. Open Script Manager and navigate to where you saved the script then select the script.
4. Check the options for run as root and if you always use wifi only because you don't have service on your device check off Run at boot as well.
5. When prompted by superuser allow superuser permissions.
I have tested this script on my Incredible and my Eris as well and should be universal to run on any android device.
Download Here
If you are using this on an inactive device and don't want the activation screen coming up after reboot and new ROM flash follow these simple steps.
*NOTE: you need to be using a ROM that has EPST.apk (Sense or stock based) in it for this procedure to work.
1. Select emergency call and dial ##778.
2. Select edit and enter service password 000000.
3. Select NAM Settings.
4. Change Mobile Directory number to 0000000000 (Ten digits).
5. Change MIN1 to 0000000 (Seven digits).
6. Change Mobile Country Code to 000 (Three digits).
7. As you back out "Commit the Change".

I honestly never tried gps with it on mine since I rarely even use it on my phone. I know it won't for navigation unless its tethered to your phone since nav requires a data connection. For location only, I would lean towards saying no, but I'd have to try it first to say for certain which I can't do atm since I don't have one of my inactive phones with me right now.

GPS does not require an Internet connection. There are apps available that store the map data locally on the device. I use one. The downside of offline GPS is you don't get live traffic, you have to manually update the maps, and satellite lock is much slower when it doesn't have the assistance of WiFi or cell tower triangulation.
On topic, I use Tasker to do this (and start GrooVe IP) automatically whenever I connect to a WiFi network.
This is awesome CS, thanks so much

you are right when it comes to gmaps, but i think i have seen other navigators that can store info on the phone, like in a car, so you coukd download the map data once, then use nav anywhere without internet connection. i can't for the life of me remember the app name though

I wasn't referring Nav apps, just the GPS functionality. I'm pretty sure that it works workout any data or wifi because I use the app Endomondo to track my jogging routes and it works fine on my disconnected Inc2.
I'd love to get the extra battery savings from disabling the cell radio, but don't want Bork the GPS.
Also, if (god forbid) I break my newer phone, would I be able to Re enable the service to the food olé Inc2?
Thanks for your help

MMS over WiFi calling works for me and I've been using it for a while now.. It even works without data being enabled, it shows the message that data is not enabled blah blah blah and that it will send once it is active or something but it ends up sending it anyway and I checked my sister's phone to make sure she received it and she did.. Tried it twice with the stock MMS app so maybe if you try using a different ROM

You can pull it from the stock rom and copy it to your /system/app directory. Make sure permission is correct then reboot and try again.

This is becoming problematic for me, as I like to send pics often, but are always on WiFi at home and anywhere I can pick it up. Network indoors at home is spotty, but manageable.
If any of the files were missing from the rom, you could add them back in and reflash. Maybe they would make a difference then.

If it just happened randomly, then it's probably on the carrier side. Call and see if they made any changes recently that could affect this. Otherwise, I'm just not sure.

I'm actually wondering if it could be T-Mobile's fault....sorta. with all of their recent changes and network upgrades, couldn't it be possible that some important things are now different, but your carrier has no idea about it as they may not have been informed? Or maybe something like this wasn't expected. It's just a guess of course, but I know the primary apn changed in markets where T-Mobile deployed LTE. Maybe other things changed too?
I know you said you tried the different apn's, but try the file linked below. Rename the current apns-conf.xml with .bak and copy this one over. It's in /system/etc/ I believe. Then reboot and see if it helps. It's all I can think to try right now. But this has only the new T-Mobile apn. All others are removed.

If you're stock, not rooted, there's not a lot you can do. Chances are it's an issue on the carrier side still. Have you tried your SIM in another device? Tried a new, or someone else's SIM?

Usually a stock sms/mms app sends via the carrier, so it goes over a secure line through their servers....or something similar to that. Hard to explain. 3rd party apps don't care about your carrier and just send over the internet, be you connected via WiFi or mobile data.

I know, and I understand the frustration! But those are some of the very reasons why I think it may back a carrier/account problem.

Fixed it! Had to modify the solavei apn. Basically mms proxy had to be black, had to change authentication type to none, add the ,supl, mns, admin, hipri whatnot. Basically even though this was suppose to be imei specific, it was incorrect.
