Today I received a replacement digitizer from China for my broken HTC Desire and I replaced the screen.
However it did fit perfect, I have a problem with the touch screen. Only the top right part of the screen is sensitive and the rest is irresponsible.
All the other functions of my phone is OK or at least seem to be OK.
I dismantled the device again and double checked the connections and I realized some difference between the electronics of the touch screens such as:
Original: Synaptics 940-663-1R1
Replacement: Synaptics 940-682-1R2
Has anyone have a similar experience or know a cure for that?

Hello,
My wife recently had the misfortune to drop her newish HTC Desire A8183 on the kitchen floor, thanks to my daughter's over eager grab. The digitizer has some lovely cracks all over it now... :-(
Needless to say, my wife is dismayed, and my daughter (she's only 3 and didn't mean it) is very sorry.
I thought I'd try replacing the digitizer myself, having read many tales of repairs taking 3 weeks and costing 300+ dollars.
Bought a new digitizer, took phone apart (even had a handy little "oven" that I could set to 60 degrees to melt the glue).
Phone taken to pieces quite happily.
Put in new digitizer, reassemble.
Now start up phone, all looks good.
BUT... only a small section of the screen is responding to touch (where the 7,8,9) keys are when entering SIM PIN. The row below has also worked (although intermittently) and the emergency call button too...
So my question:
Is this a problem with the digitizer I bought? Is there a particular model number of digitizers that I should be using? I note that the old digitizer had an "I2" printed on the pcb, whereas the new one has an "E5", the old one has a sticker with SHAB1 on it whereas the new on has SHABN...
I'm not sure that this is important - but given that the thing only partly works, I think it might be.
Anyone got any ideas/hints for me to try... I'll phone the supplier tomorrow and suggest to them that the part is faulty, as I can't see any threads out there where this has happened to someone else.
EDIT: I thought I should add that the old digitizer despite looking like a spider's web, still actually works - which really make me think it is a problem with the new one...
Thanks for any help!
Chris
I can't really help you from experience all knowledge.
But I did read somewhere that you have to use specific digitizer for specific Desires.
I could be wrong
Did you work out any solution for your replacement digitizer issue?
I have a similar problem and I just realized the different ghost pattern of the screens (original has diagonal, new has square arrangements of dots) and also the electronics of the digitizer is slightly different (Original: Synaptics 940-663-1R1, replacement: Synaptics 940-682-1R2)
Hello,
I'v got the same problem, i even bought two digitizers from different sellers. I thought that it is because i did something wrong when I disassembly and assembled the phone but I put my old digitizer again and it works ok ( except the corner where it's crashed ).I asked my sellers if there are some different digitizers and they replayed that no and the one I'v got are checked and ok ( the electronics is identical, the only difference are white big number E2 and G2 ). What can I do more to repair my poor thing?

Hi all, i recently bought a new touch panel for my HOX couse the old one is semi working due a fall. With great surprise i see that the original lcd is literally attached to touch glass. So trying to remove original touch, is equal to break original LCD. And this happen to me. However, i bough the a new lcd and finally remount my HOX. But there something strange. The touch is in contact with the display, stange artifacts are visible on the screen on the contact points and the touch has only a semi working response. I've tried to move away the touch from the lcd to be sure that the new components are working...and infact are working well. So i understood thath i must use something to prevent the touch came in contact with the LCD. What can or must i use to complete the remount? Thanks

And that is the reason why you can find lcd panel + touch assembly (yes its more expensive), touch panel is already glued to lcd with "special" compound. It is not glued actually, more like adhesive compound.. When you broke lcd you should go for lcd+touch..
But you can check this one, maybe you find some answers :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720900 and here :http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-one-x-screen-repair-video.html
Hello!
I just want to know what is broken on my HOX
I noticed that my screen sometimes doesn't recognize the gesture (swipe or tap) on a certain area
I researched a bit on testing HTC's touchscreen and used *#*#3424#*#* code and I got these results on the HTC's drawing test (see attachment)
is my LCD broken? or just the digitizer? i've read a few articles and it all points to the fact that the digitizer is the one broken. just asking here to confirm it.
Thanks for the confirmation!
I had the same issue. Seems only a digitizer problem, but I ordered complet (screen+digitizer+frame) as replacing only a digitizer is pain in a**.

It's the digitizer mate, try a factory reset just to be sure.
The problem is that if you need a new digitizer it's almost impossible to separate the LCD from your old digitizer, so you would need to buy the complete LCD and digitizer combined with frame, use etradesupply.com and you will get an original.
I also have the same issue as yours. only my phone has non responsive area abit higher than yours. Try press the upper part of your lcd(at the htc logo), I recovered mine by doing so although the fix is only temporary.
Hello everyone,
the screen of my N7 2013 cracked after his first fall on the ground... the tablet still worked but the touch screen was unresponsive, so I decided to replace it and bought a new screen and digitizer. I replaced it following youtube tutorials but the new touch screen was unresponsive. I thought the replacement i bought was faulty, so I wrote to the seller who refunded me. So I bought a SECOND lcd+digitizer replacement, from a different seller. Same story: after replacement this second digitizer is totally unresponsive too.
I checked connections so many times with no luck. I can't believe that I bought TWO broken digitizers from two different sellers. I don't think I broke something else working on replacement (but I cannot be sure ).
So I'm wondering if there is any possible software cause for this touch screen behaviour... is there something I can still try to do before throw away the tablet? Anyone can help?
Thank you!

You only replaced the touch screen or also the daughter board? Is there any revision number on the screens/cables?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
I only replaced digitizer and lcd, daughter board was the original one (rev 1.4).
The old digitizer had a sticker with a qr code and some numbers on it, and another code printed on (see pic ..935).
I found no reference for these codes on google, the qr code gives no results.
The new digitizer has no sticker and no codes printed, only a printed mark displaying "cx 2015-1" (I think it's a seller's mark).
On lower part, where circuits and cable are, the original digitizer shows two other numbers (see pic ..942).
New digitizer shows two numbers too, smaller one (ME050111) is the same, except for last two numbers (original digitizer has "01", new digitizer has "12"). The biggest number (343308Q in the pic) is completely different on the new digitizer.
My friend's phone was damaged (someone sat on it by accident) and now the screen show a reddish big gooey-looking blotch in the middle of the screen.
The touch still works, but the middle area doesn't display anything, so we are trying to find out the needed replacement parts : does he need a full screen with digitizer ? screen with frame? just lcd screen ?
The glass on the screen is intact, nothing is broken. I've never dealt with such problem before, but I need to know before ordering the part online, so I know which one to order.
His device is a Dual-sim D858HK model, I'm also not sure if a replacement part actually exists (only found parts for the D850/855 versions)
I hope someone can help, as this is a first time for me dealing with hardware issues.
