Ok, so I broke down and bought one of the cheap 3500 mAh batteries off ebay just to try it out. Well it came in the mail today so I powered my phone off and put the new honker in and went to charge it. First thing I noticed was the led status light kept blinking orange/green, so then I powered on the phone and noticed the battery symbol was gray with an ! in it, so I looked at the battery information and it says "battery status unknown" and the orange light keeps blinking. So... it's not charging while in the phone plugged in and I don't have an external charger. Is there a way to fix this issue? Is it something to do with the ROM i'm running, the kernel, or battery itself? I am using Inc Re-engineered v2.3 with lous #7 kernel. Thanks for the help!
Sounds like a bad battery.

Hey all. I bought the 3500 mah battery in the beginning of august and just last night started seeing the phone die even though the percentage was reporting nowhere near dead... I would charge, get the green light, and go and it'd die 15 mins later. What gives? Any tips? I am using the stock battery now and all is well. Thanks for any info you all may have !

If your stock battery works correctly, then its time to call Seidio and get a RMA.
Ok so i bought a "new" Touch pro2 2150mah battery, and i get a unknown battery status. I wiped my battery stats and reflashed still no luck. So what you guys think bad battery? I am running CM7 RC4. I tried under Stock sprint rom still same issue. I think its a bad battery mainly cause i get a orange and green blinking light when the phone is off.

i got the same thing going from a knock off battery from handhelditems ..i put it in my friends evo then it starts charging again. moved to my evo it charged for few hours then it stopped again..i am returning the battery..
let me know what you find out
Well i did some more research and apparently the tp2 official htc extended battery doesnt work in the evo. It doesnt register with the software or something like that. I get mixed reviews because i have seen pictures of people using the 2150 htc extended battery. The other thing i have read is that the 2150 htc battery for the incredible will work but it cost a boat load in comparisson to other extended batteries. My verdict is that i bought a non compatible battery and i didnt do enough reserach before i bought it. Im still stumped at the people who have had this work for them.
Stopped in my local VZW (Mays Landing, NJ) today to pick up an extra battery and the battery only charger. There is an unadvertised special right now:
HTC6400BNC Battery-only charger and HTC6400BAT1 standard battery for $25! Hope some of you can jump on this one!
Thanks for the info. Probably swing by a Verizon store tomorrow and check this out here in San Diego, CA

now if only the extended battery was $25.
i already have a stand alone battery charger and 4 extra batteries
Questiuon for you all... I just bought the standalone charger: HTC6400BNC
When I plug it in, the light is green, when I put a battery the light is green, how the heck do I know if it is doing anything?
It's red when charging and green when fully charged or it has no battery in it.

Kinda what I thought but the battery I put in I could have sworn was at 80% as a test, and showed green. Maybe m Batt Stats are messed up.
For example I just put it in the phone it booted up to 90%>..
OK I have cm7 and my phone can't hold a charge, will be on the charger all night at 38% and wake up 7hrs later 44% and the phone is super hot like burning hot... I tried everything vipermod, v6 supercharger, juice defender, undercloxk, everything.... Any reason why my phone takes almost 2days just to completely recharge????
Try a new battery?
I agree, sounds like a bad battery, but have you tried calibrating it?
Also, have you tried a different kernel?

Believe it or not, it may be the cord on your charger. I had this exact same problem with an OEM HTC Ebay charger i bought. I tried new battery and was about to try new phone when i decided to try a different charger and that was it! Every time i try that charger it happens again!
How do you calibrate the battery??.
And I use Savage -zen latest kernel and tiamont..
Hopefully its just yvr charger because the original charger doesn't work anymore I use my old samsung captivate charger
Had the same issue and it was the charger. worth a try before spending more money on a new battery
i have new sealed red htc evo 4g batteries for sale, for cheap if you're interested. also i have a new extended battery for sale as well.
I have a 3500 battery (Ebay) in my rooted epic the battery stats reads 100 percent but when i unplug it it shuts the phone off i know about the battery stats erase in CWM 5 i cleared it but it still saying 100% and i know its not 100 because it has done this b4 when i 1st recived the battery i did break the charge cycle because i use my phone alot for work and plugged and unplugged it alot could that have ruined it
used to work great now its giving me hell
Drain it if possible then Charge it over night and see if it still does it. If not pop in the old battery boot up and then pop in the new one this should update the phone to read the actual percentage.

You have a bad battery. Same thing happened to me. Put the phone in flight mode. I bet it stays on but as soon as you turn on data, poof it goes. Someone else just had the same issue.

Try this for kicks and see what happens..wipe battery stats again.. make sure battery is fully charged. Wipe battery stats again, let battery get low, and wipe stats again, then fully charge it. If this doesn't work, u really do have a bad battery.

If the phone goes off as soon as it is unplugged the battery cannot provide enough current to keep it on....bad battery. No battery stat clearing in the world is going to magically provide more current.

Hey kenny any idea why a 3500 maH would drain as if it were a 1500maH brother has an evo and recently got a new battery and it won't drain correctly it runs through it as if it was still a 1500. And he has calibrated it and charged it for hours......?

There are good and bad 3500 mAh batteries. If you sliced them open, more often then not the cheaper ones are two 1200 mAh batteries so you are probably gaining 30-50% more life if it is a good one. The better ones are two 1500 mAh batteries. If he has gone through the wiping of battery stats and recalibration then it is more than likely not a good set of batteries. The cheaper batteries are not always a good deal.
