So, i just bought my Defy today (very excited, works ok out of the box) and i looked for the model number but i could not sort it out. ( i bought it from Europe)
Mine is BT33, MSN L596QA2875 . Will it be ok?
Up to press models showing BT or a blue dot under the battery have been unaffected by earpiece failures so yours should be OK.
Unfortunnately nobody knows( But by the reason - that you have a this year made Defy - you have much more chance, that all will be OK, cause most hardware problem had devices made in 2010.

The official Motorola response is phones with the BT or BF code or the blue dot will not be affected and handsets made from March which no longer use the codes or dot will not be affected so to say no one knows is wrong.
That isn't to say the ear piece definitely wont break, it might fail for a different reason.

Has anyone with BT or Blue Dot had an earpiece show the same fault as the previous designed one?
I considered buying a backup earpiece just in case but I put that purchase off.

unfortunately yes...here in italy some people with bt/bf defy had the same problem of previous version. Me and others defy users have a theory about this problem: because of the ip67 protection against water, the cell is ermetically closed so if you press on the backcover near the M logo during a call you can hear a distortion (try it yourself). After few time the stress caused by the pressure on the earpiece can cause its break. That's all.

Hello , i recently bought the Desire HD, and havent been experiencing any problems with it except of one quite annoying.
When im in a call, either outgoing or incoming, the speaker makes a weird crackling noise.
This happens always, and happens on both the phones speaker, and loud speaker (depending on which is selected during call), and headphones(when connected). Ive searched the forum, and some people have been experiencing a sort of problem, but not on the same device.

I can verify that I'm experiencing the same with my Desire HD.
We discussed this issue already in the german "Android-Hilfe"-Forum. This buzzing, crackling noise seems to affect a small number of desire HD's. Mine was affected too. All the devices have been changed on warranty with no costs for the customer in germany. No matter from which provider they were bought.

My Desire HD has started doing this today too! Really gutted. What has HTC UK support been like this on it? Replacement or repair, and how quick? I dont want to be without a phone long! Is this a widely recognised problem, apart from this thread I dont see much on it. Im wondering if the buzz comes from a loose LED flash cover vibrating caused by the speaker?

i dont know is it a general problem or only limitted to our handsets

I sent 2 support cases to HTC at the same time. The one was for tjis issue and the other for something else. The other one was answered next day but for that one, not a word. Does this tell you something?

I say that: I contacted HTC support in regards to this but haven't received a reply. But, I have received replys for other cases. And this doesn't sound good.

I recently replaced my DHD due to a similar issue. I found if my hand palm was making contact at all with the SIM.SD Card cover, ie the antenna I would get an extremely high pitch feedback sound. Also if phone was on charge the crackle sound was audible.
Orange were great and replaced the original handset straight away at no cost but the replacement also appears to have the same issue. For the moment I'm considering contacting HTC direct but i'm not sure as otherwise I love the phone, and truly believe it is the best on the market.
I think the issue might be resolved if i get a outer protective cover so I'm going to try that first, and not use the device while on charge.
Would be good to know if others have had these experiences.

Whatever you decide, contact HTC so that they know and work on the problem. As I said, I contacted them but never received a reply which means that they are aware and have no solution.

That must be a different issue. I hear that noise via BT headset when I don't even touch the phone. I believe it's due to the sound frequency change during a call and the low quality speaker cannot handle. It's like using a high wattage amplifier on a low quality speaker and expect to hear deep bass sound. I guess you all know the result of such sound.
I'm also experiencing this problem. Sent the phone in and got it back but the problem is still there. They changed the motherboard and the loudspeaker but that obviously didn't fix the problem. So now I probably have to send it back again.
i just hope this problem can be fixed with software..

It's a very good phone but that problem is starting to annoying me.
i allready send a email to htc portugal and their response was to send the equipment to the repair center

Have you tried enabling the SRS improvement? It can be done in the music player. It made the crackling sound during calls in my device disappear...

What I'm experiencing, when I'm on hold with my service provider (Vodafone AU) I can hear the normal on hold music then at random intervals just for a half a second or so the music cuts and there's an annoying crackle noise. Sometimes there is no noise for a while then there can all of a sudden there can that crackle noise every few seconds. Like another person has said for me if I change to loudspeaker it still does the crackle noises and turning the volume down doesn't help. I've tried taking my hand off the phone but it still happens. I have noticed a few times the reception bars icon, drop a bar or gain a bar when this noise happens so maybe there's a link?!? By the way I'm running LeeDroid 1.4.1 (wich is based on HTC's 1.72.405.3 ROM). Also I'm running the Jan 17th Radio version: 12.39.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M.
Right. This could well sound daft but try it anyway! Someone on another forum said it worked for him (her?) and it worked for me with a Nokia E71. The speaker was 'crackling' so I did the usual googling. The answer was, for me, to suck really hard on the speaker a couple of times. Basically the diaphragm gets put out of place and the 'sucking' gets it back.
Try it and see! Though it won't fix the 'feedback-type' noises I'd guess but I find most of those are specific to a particular call. Either call back, or get them to call you back, and all is well.

I went into all ATT, BestBuy and RadioShack around the town and none had LG Nitro. In BestBuy they don't even have a mokup and guy I talked to thought the phone is not out yet.
So I was wondering, why is that? Maybe it's because the phone is so f.up hardware wise, and we should expect a recall?
AT&T is being quite funny about the Nitro. I ran into the same problem with it in Boston when it came out. No one had a display model or stock. I had to call around to 5 stores before I found one. No clue why that is.

The AT&T store is the only one local that has it in stock. I bought mine at Best Buy, but it was a special order. Dunno why they aren't pushing the Nitro. What is messed up hardware wise?
Broken compass is a huge blow (for me), mic in headset that works on 4 different android phones doesn't work on nitro, notifications also don't play through headset.
Horrible battery life if you use phone more then just keeping it in standby. Oh and have usb port on top - is a nonsense!

Compass is not broken, it just takes a while to find it's bearing (although the GPS catch is the fastest out there) Mic works perfectly on my headset (I use the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10vi, and also tested it on the ibeats and beats pro and both worked fine). Notifications have always worked on every single headsets i used with this phone, with mic or no mic (sony, logitech, altec lansing, sennheiser, panasonic, etc). Battery life have improved in time over a months period, and now I just charged once and I can keep running the whole day using it for various things. And USB on top? works perfectly for me since I can line up the 3.5mm jack with the usb when I'm in the car and can put the phone in one of the cup holders. In case someone wants to mention the usb cover, it's not flimsy at all. as long as you don't try to yank it off, it does not even look like it will break anytime soon.
Now back to topic...I have a feeling AT&T might have some kind of an agreement with Samsung to promote their phones more aggressively over their other phones, maybe so they can get the Note and the Nexus in their roster. I actually noticed that AT&T makes no attempt to promote the LG phone other than during the announcement even from the first days it was released. In one of our malls here, there's 2 AT&T spots, one is a small kiosk, the other is a big store. Only the big store has it on display, and even now, 2 months later, the small kiosk still doesn't have it displayed. Same thing with a Radio Shack here in a town near me and in Brooklyn. I went in to look for possible cases for the phone, saw that there is no dummy phone shown, asked the guy where's the Nitro HD, and they're like huh? what phone? I had to speak to the manager and he said oh we do not carry that here.
I doubt it's hardware issue. If it was a battery issue, AT&T can issue a bigger better battery replacement instead of losing business. Or it could possibly be that they do not promote the phone to avoid having to deal with customer complaints about the battery, of course it only applies to those who don't wait and see how much better the battery is now. I still say it's something to do with an agreement with another maker.

not quiet understand you there. Yes, from the day one I was bashing this phone for it's flaws, simply because it's not worth the $600 price tag. If it was sold for $200 in retail, I'd love it.

Really? Do you have anything to compare it with? I'd like to see how it works for you. For instance load up the google navigator and select "walk", then open the map and see how "you" will spin and point in all kind of directions while the phone is stays still.

Some headsets don't have problems, I agree, but some, that work on other phones don't work on Nitro. Lack of drivers? Maybe, I don't know, but it's a fact.

Again, I'm comparing it to my use as I've been using 3 other phones in 4 years period, Nitro dies in 3 hours.

Perhaps, however don't expect any kind of gadgets such as docks or webtops for this phone. And do you know why they put that cover? It's to protect the usb port from dust and crap, because most people care the phone in their pockets, upside down...
Hmmm got home today at 9pm, looked at the phone and couldn't believe my eyes, it shows 4G LTE icon. Either I didn't notice it at 5pm or they added Tampa Bay to LTE network between 5 and 9 today...

I just missed it! I was in St. Pete/Tampa over the weekend and was shocked they didn't have LTE (yes yes, I know they weren't on the short list of markets)... Congrats on getting it now! I live in Boston and work in NH and its such a huge difference in speed between HSPA (at work) and LTE (at home), its ridiculous.

As of a tally taken two weeks ago there were 160 people in the Wi-Fi thread that reported their phone was suffering from the issue. If you double it for people with the issue not documenting it in the thread, that's 360 phones out of about 5K owners on the forum. That's less than 10%.
If you look at the pictures of the phone disassembled, the issue appears to be from how the phone is seated in the chassis at the factory. The connectors are on the body of the phone while the antennas they are connecting to are on the chassis. In the Wi-Fi thread, people are told to "press on the back of the phone to see if it affects the Wi-Fi signal." The connectors use dynamic tension vs. springs. Since the part of the phone where the connectors are located wouldn't experience compression under typical use, that's an acceptable design choice. People artificially creating compression to "test" their phones could be causing the problem their testing for. The fix HTC is putting in place is simply spacers to prevent compression; real and artificial (people pressing on their phones). I have an early March-build phone that's been dropped six times and the Wi-Fi's as good today as when I got it. It's better than the i9100 it replaced and a G-Tab 10.1 I’m still using.
In anything mass produced, precision of assembly improves as more are built. So you could make the assumption later built phones are less likely to have defects. You’ll see references to HT23 and the like. The “3” in HT23 signifies “March” and so on. But the design of the Wi-Fi connectors aren't being changed and, based on the number of devices affected, you have a far greater chance of getting a phone with great Wi-Fi than one with a problem. There are plenty of differing opinions so educate yourself and make your own decision.

Hi everyone, I have a hardware issue with HTC 10. Firstly I love this once Flagship phone from the days when HTC was at the top of its game. I have actually purchased a few over the years second hand from eBay and repaired them. Herein lies my problem. I have enough known working parts to put a handset together. I was in fact trying to do this today with a known working Mainboard. The problem I encounter however was that once the phone was assembled with New battery and screen everything worked perfectly except the microphone. I assumed this was due to a faulty daughter board and mic. So I swapped out the bottom board for a different one, same problem. I then tried a third with no difference. I little perplexed I tried a few different options and mixing and matching components. I tried two different Mainboards with 3 different lower daughterboards and as last effort swapped the top daughterboard. Each time the phone worked perfectly with one flaw. The microphone would not pick up any sound. The only explanation for this, I could surmise, is the possibility that HTC has somehow matched their handsets components as to not allow this type of mixing and matching. i.e the 2 daughterboards and mainboard are coded only to work as a 3 piece set. I know the phone is now 5 years old and most tech junkies would roll their eyes and ask why I would bother. But I love this phone and come from an era where, when things broke you fixed them. If anyone has any feedback or experience with this issue I'd love to hear about it.

I experience very low volume after recording a video with the Xperia 10 III. The same thing happens when I make a messenger call/messenger video call. The other person barely can hear me.
Normal phone calls work fine (at least nobody was complaining about from the other end).
I am not sure, but I think this was the case since I bought the phone, but I did not care too much, because I did not use these functions often earlier. Last week I had a few video calls, and always had to go and find a headset (with the headset everything was fine), because they could not hear me. Very frustrating. Also the video recording ( I use the factory camera application).
Did anyone experience this problem? If so, did you find any solution? I feel it is software related.

Next to the USB socket and on the opposite side are holes for microphones. Check to see if they are clogged. Maybe something has fallen inside.

I don't have this one, but I had a model like this where the inside of the hole was stuck with flecks. On the outside you could not see anything, because there are bends in the hole. Pull out only with a thin copper wire!
