I was reading a thread about SD card class and how the most important thing is read speed (I have a class 2).
So I have a question.
When I first install cm7 and use the music app (or any other music app) the first time I scroll through the albums and it takes me around 2 minutes to get to the bottom (1600 songs). I thought this was maybe because the phone had to cache the album art because after I get to the bottom, which is very slow and painful, scrolling is silky smooth again.
Could this be because I have a slow class 2 SD or just because the need to cache the album art.
Thanks

Hmm, interesting. I don't have info that will help, but I've been experiencing issues with write speeds. I can't get music over to my SD card in any sort of reasonable time. It will transfer an album going fine... and then the transfer speed slows to a crawl.
Maybe these problems are related? Do you have this problem?
I don't have that much music on my phone so I can't tell if this will work, but you could download "SD Speed Increase" from the market and see if it makes a difference.
class 2 is very slow. it could be the cause of your problems. i'd buy a cheap higher class sd card and see if that helps things out (i don't experience this problem with a class 10 32gb). there are also sd card tweaks that can be done for android in general. there is a thread about it on these forums, but i can't link it because i'm a lowly junior member.
this is funny I just posted a topic about an app called SD Speed Increase. Its works great with my 32gb, much faster now. My gallery and music load instantly now.

I don't really understand the DInc's 8GB of Internal Memory, the one mounted as /mnt/emmc.
For one thing, apps can't install to it. Apps can only install to the 748MB internal memory or SDCARD.
I can't put videos there, the Gallery won't see them. Videos have to go to /mnt/sdcard. I can, however, put photos and MP3s there. However, when I run an app, like MultiLiveWallpaper, it can't see the photos in order to randomly change them unless I put them in SDCARD.
If I install a big app, like a 3D game, one that needs to phone home to download an additional 100MB or so of data, it will only download to the 748MB internal memory or SDCARD. It won't use EMMC.
So pretty much, that whole 8GB of Internal Memory seems rather worthless. I need an SD card to do anything. Is there any way I can trick android into seeing the 8GB of internal memory as an SDCARD, and then not need an SDCARD?
My pictures stored there are seen by the gallery but I'm running CM7 RC2. I had a problem a while back with the Sense Music Player not seeing my mp3's there but I just bought MixZing instead.
Yeah, the gallery in the stock ROM can see pictures stored there too, but apps can't seem to so I have to keep those in SDCARD as well. Sense music player in the stock ROM seems to have no trouble finding MP3s there. I wish I could just use that 8GB emmc as if it were an 8GB SD card. I don't have that much music on mine, so all that space pretty much goes to waste. The emmc in general, seems pretty much worthless so far as I can tell.
I think he was talking about some problem with Z roms where the internal storage can't be seen. I use it to store my ~4 GBs of music which is useful.
Yeah, storing music seems to be all it's good for. I wish there was a way to use it as an SD card. Oh well, I guess I will fill it full of music since there's not much else I can do with it. It's weird that pictures that I put there show up in the gallery, but not videos.
Now that I think of it the Stock Sense ROM could see the music but I couldn't get any artwork for it to show up. All the apps I found for downloading artwork couldn't read the internal memory only the sdcard. I've had to redo my entire music library, all 7000+ mp3s to imbed the artwork into the file to get around this. Then I went and bought a 32 GB sdcard and resized all my mp3s to fit on it and only use the internal storage to hold pictures and all my backups.
Don't know why I even thought to search for a solution for this, but I'm glad I did as I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030613
It worked perfectly! Now the phone thinks my internal storage is an 8GB SD card and I don't even have a need for the MicroSD card at all.
One question!
I have put a 64 gb memory card in my phone, no matter what videos I put on it, won't be displayed, if I go to search I will then find them by file name but still not be able to play any of them, this picture will explain what I see, is this normal as we can't put anything to sd card? Or do I have a bad memory card? Many thanks for your help guys.

I personally never heard of a glg and lvl extensions. Maybe you need to rename those to the correct extensions. Samsung probably has the best stock video player out of all the other manufacturers including apple. It will literally play 99% of video files. The only time I had issue was with audio not playing on a file with dolby dts audio for which I downloaded BS Player to play. (BS Player visual quality sucks though compared to the Note 2's player) Good luck!
The problem is 64GB Card most likely ... they are still not perfected and you will get bad apples a lot !
Plus support on kernel side is flaky at best

Can you play the default video from the gallery? Perhaps try mx player from play store? Also try recording a video and see if that plays. the extensions in ur screenshot are not familiar to me.
ghl is usually temporary file and lvl is game video file, you may not open with PC too.
I think some fixer are available to repair such file
Thanks guys, I have mx player, the videos work fine before I put them on that memory card,

p.c so i formated to fat 32 it suppose to be exfat but its working fine
is there a music app that works? Everything i've tried either sends my SD card into a bltchfit and/or cannot play some files, or will play other song audio over the song i selected. poweramp, play music, isense, even winamp are all crap.
Is it the type of mp3's i'm using? Like something converted from flv or youtube to mp3? Could it be my 32gb microSD card is junky?

play music fails to read all of my music that I place on my sd card. e.g. I put 700-800 songs on it and it says I'll have 5xx songs on device.
Ok so it looks like the mSd card is corrupt. the 32gb i got doesn't like to play nice with the evo. I tried an old sandisk 2gb i had from years ago and it read every file on it (hard to slim down music choices to just 1.89GB)

Didnt realize that was an issue! Whats stopping you installing a music player such as VLC or WinAMP on your phone?

what I mean is Nexus has no sd card slot so all my music would be in the cloud and it would use all my data to listen to it so that's why I want to know if I could listen offline
You answered it yourself... if it's in the cloud... it means it's on the internet... if you're not on the internet (online), then you can't access them.
That being said... how much free space you have on your Nexus... because nobody needs ALL their music at one time. Surely you can afford 500mb or more to put 100 tracks on physical memory (then use a good player to play them anytime).

i have 45 gb on an sd card and usually just hit random :good:
I have 200GB + ... that doesn't mean I put it all on my phone or SD card or listen to all of it. You can't have everything in life man... learn to compromise and cut it down to 2GB (that's around 55-68hrs of music depending on size) of music you really like... or get a phone with SD card slot where you can random.
***Again though, if you have Note2 and want to downsize, you're going to run into things you can't do or get on other phones compared to your Note2.
I wouldn't get the Nexus 5 then... go for the Sony or maybe S4??
