[Question]
How can I remove DarkTremor's Script from a rom that already has it installed into it?
I'm looking for the way to remove his script from a rom that already has his script in the rom.
I'm not saying that his script is bad or anything; I just want to test something and DT's script might conflict with it
Thanks in advance!
Well the only way really is flash a diffrent rom like sense, since it doesn't support DarkTremor or back up everything on your sd card and format it.

That's not true actually, in the past I've used sense and darktremor's script and it worked.
Thanks anyway, but I'm looking for a way to 'remove' all scripts related to his script so it doesn't conflict with another script I'm going to be using
So the ROM package has it built in? I'd just find a similar ROM (if it's based off CM or MIUI) and flash that. The only other way would be to delete all the scripts in your ROM that you find in DT's A2SD package. Though insterting it pre-flash while the ROM is being built goes about installing it a bit differently I think but hopefully you can figure out what it does and reverse it.

Oh I see. Really every time I go to a sense rom, I can't make any the commands work but maybe that's just me... am not really to sure then.

Hi Everyone, i've just root my desire and would like to flash a new ROM for fun.
Most of ROM i found are having A2SD/A2SD+/A2EXT and i know it means that it allow installing apps to SD-ext.
But actually i don't want to create ext on my sd card. in other word, i would like to install all the stuff on internal rom only(include other apps)
Can anyone help to find a suitable Sense3.0 ROM that have around 100MB free rom after flashing & without A2SD+/A2SD.
Thanks.
You have got everything wrong, you don't need an ext partition for apps2sd roms.
And to answer your other question, there is no sense 3 rom that doesn't need an ext partition, let alone one with free memory!

oh.....that means i have to create ext partition on my SD if i want a sense 3 rom.......
btw, can class 2/class 4 SD card used for ext partition?
4 is fine. 2 may struggle. Depends what's on ext. Apks are pretty much archives. Apps run from dalvik-cache so that should be fine

you said "Depends what's on ext", does it mean that i can decide what should be installed in ext
No. Just means I'm not familiar with these Roms so not sure what's on there usually system app and frameworks.
Try it. If it works on 2, fine. If not, get class 4

sorry that i have another question,
my desire doesn't have s-off, how can i choose a correct rom for it?
The most important of S-OFF is the changing Hboots. But you don't need another Hboot for any rom here. Or rather in general: You don't need S-OFF for any rom (as far as I know). So just choose the rom you want.

but there are so many versions in each particular ROM and i don't know which to choose
e.g. IncertCoin sense 2.1+3 --> CM7 HBoot / stock HBoot
Cool3D Sensation --> with different combination of partition
so, within each ROM, which version is suitable for me?
thanks
Stock hboot if you haven't changed it.

Hello friends
what the difference between Data++ and A2SD? Wich is better?
Data++ gives you a considerable amount more space for apps etc
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
They couldn't me more different.
Data++ is a,hboot that changes the size of the internal partitions.

I made a swap partition w/ CM7 Elitemod and when I type 'free' in terminal, i get straight 0's
How do I enable swap? I wanna test it out
There are many guides out there. Im not sure what cm7 requires you todo but i know with virtuous roms you need to enable it after you vcreate the partition. This is done with a nice script that is placed in the root of your sdcard. You also need to reeneable it everytime you flash a new rom.

I've run 2 scripts now found in the G2 dev forums and they both error out when running them, problems with syntax errors
Can someone recommend one that works for them on CM7?
You don't need swap on CM7, G-Lite, Google AOSP type roms. However if you want to test it out you can find the guide at the Virtuous site. Honestly on Google AOSP it won't do much, but maybe limit how much time you have with your sd card. Also the kernel needs to support swap so that may be why some people are getting errors.
On cm7 the effects can be for the worse. Also, u need a kernel that supports it.

per your guys' advise, I am abandoning the idea of a swap partition.
Thanks
I know I probably seems like a noob because I have like 1 post but I just havent got arpund to posting until now... Anyway
I have an HTC Desire running cm7 and I was wondering what the best method of obtaining more internal memory is? I have an 8gb sd card with 500mb set as sd-ext, but I dont know how to fully use it can anyone elaborate on the use of these scripts?
I havent seen any really upto date posts on this so I thought I would ask, theres bound to be a thresd somewhere but you know...

don't know whether that method works on cm7
a couple of things that i know of:
1. S-OFF (search revolutionary) and change partition table to something like cm7r2, check alpharev. your internal memory goes up from stock (only 147MB) to 287MB.
2. flash an A2SD script such as Darktremor to make the most of your ext partition. it won't appear as extra internal memory, just tricks apps to move them there. keep all your apps on internal though i.e. don't manually move them to SD.
3. a different option, separate from A2SD is a data2sd script, don't know much about these, but have a look if they interest you. they extend the internal memory (adding your actual internal + ext)
and nandroid backup before trying any of this.
should have plenty of space after that!
I would combine 1 and 2.

Yes, but as title suggests, it's designed to work only with Supernova. If you want a generic data2sd installer, visit Sibere's data2sd thread.

...and enlarge your sd-ext probably to 1GB
I wouldn't recommend data2sd on 500MB, pretty pointless. If you're going to do it, do it properly
i have S-OFF already and ill look at the partition tables thing too see if that would help thanks, i tried simple2ext or something like that and i had to restore my nandroid is it functioned horribly so ill also look at darktremor
EDIT:
Ill extend it to 1gb then if you think its needed i have like 4gb free on my sd and i could get a 16gb if i could be bothered...
It certainly seems a waste of the script, lol.
Anyone willing to talk me through flashing the hboot from alpharev? ive done things along these lines before and i have half-bricked my phone before so any helpers?

I have an faq you can read, which will help. Then if you're still unclear...
Its the adb and fastboot faq via the link in my signature (guides etc). Just skiup the adb stuff as its not relevant.
First read and understand that. Dont do anything yet. Just read
I know how to use fastboot its just that alpharev says flash then wipe cache which is fine but then says "wipe everything and restore" I dont really get that?
I am very happy with CM7 and an ext4 1gb partition made useable for apps and dalvik moved by this tool: S2E (search for it in Android Market)

You should be fine with nandroid backup, flash hboot, nandroid restore.
It never hurts to format system, cache and data via recovery (cwm based) or via fastboot commands

Thanks for clarifying that, I just didn't understand why wipe then restore ... But they just say that to make sure the chances of error are extremely minimal and so it's not needed thanks again I'll flash it tomorrow night
INT2SD is the best d2sd ever. So if you enjoy using cm7, just flash INT2SD script.
I use S2E for CM7. just download from market -really easy to set up and works great.

This is the best solution. it also enables the necessary speed teaks (you can choose) such as journal off, perfect mount and the sd speed tweak

Pray do explain why..
I was just wondering if there was a way to enable the reversed mount thing in the MIUI ROM (gingerbread 2.3.7)...
I googled it and xda'd it, but no luck...
So is there a way, like with flashing a .zip file through recovery or something else (maybe in the settings?)?
Im running out of space for the most important apps (root explorer, setCPU and PACMAN!!)
Thanks
EDIT: Another thought: Is it possible to enable it on ANY ROM (even stock)?
Just asking, since it looks like a useful feature (is one, too) and I'm a noob at these things...

Maybe here
The version you're looking for is the X-Part version, it mounts data on sdcard and you'll see the space on your ext partition.
Download
Try with this:

Nah, I don't want to go over the settings again... My battery is kinda tired from constant ROM flashing and NAND restores...
But in between the int2ext and the + version, what's better??
Thanks
Plus should be faster cause data folder is on internal data.

Okay, so I downloaded the +version and flashed it, but phone got stuck at boot logo...
So I read the thread with the scripts and saw that I should remove a2sd+ (which I have)...
So how do I do it?
Probably terminal emulator and something like 'a2sd [command]'...
coming to the point:-
*my desire is rooted,s-off and have official stock rom gingerbread 2.3.3, software no. 3.14.
.i used 4EXT Method to partition 1GB from 16gb mmc and the process went pretty good inside 4EXT Recovery. (i tried both 3ext,4ext type ).
when phone rebooted, there is no extra space for ext.partition in freespace app, system app and still getting low space error.?
* m i missing something?
p.s i didnt install any a2sd script using emulator because i dont have it :/
i dont have pc so i cant use gparted method.
help me using 4ext method.
Lol u can't just make the partition and suddenly have your apps move to the ext. You need a script.
First of all I would recommend flashing a custom ROM. Try mildwilds oxygen ROM since its very fast, stable, and comes preinstalled with a2sd.
All you need to do at this point since you've already done everything like partitioning and what not, is flash the ROM.
Download it, put it onto your SD, reboot into 4ext and go into the wipe menu. Then format all partitions except SD card. Finally choose install zip from SD card, navigate to the ROM u downloaded and flash it.
Then all the apps u install will be automatically installed onto the ext partition u made on the SD card.
Here's the download link BTW:

Nope, he's suggesting it and it's a pretty good GB ROM. If you don't want to use oxygen maybe go for one of the CM7 versions, I quite like the JG version though for sense (which I guess you're used to) RSK team had a fantastic gb rom.

I'm not promoting it... In fact I've never even used it. I was just recommending it to you since from what I've heard, its one of the most stable and bug free ROMs for the desire. As a bonus it comes with a2sd preinstalled, so your apps will be installed to the ext partition out of the box.
The ROM is GB, it just has a jelly bean like ui. If you want something like the stock sense ROM, try using the one dvsk69 suggested above.

I had exactly same problem with using deo roms. After using this method i can install any custom ROM and 4ext is working for 90%.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37383522#post37383522
Due the fact some custom ROMs have preinstalled 2SD different way, Im using scripts attached below the instructions. If script isnt working ( 1%) of all cases, Im using apps showing storage information - if the system information are showing still low memory it doesnt mean its not working. Its needed to use only external app to see reality.( lot of them is on google play).
I hope it will help, cos Im satisfied with it for 100% on all of my adroids .
