To do list app with widget? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for an app that is a simple to do list, but the icon on the screen shows you how many items are in the list. Just like how the mail icon shows you how many unread messages you have, or the messages app shows yo uany unread texts, I'd like the icon on the home screen to show how many to do's you have. Is there such a thing?
thanks!

Can try Astrid, it has a couple widgets you can use. Not sure if it has the numbering thing as you suggested, but it's free so give it a try.

To Do List app
Download Color Notes from the market. Install as a widget and it will show you how many items you have on your list just like you want. Have been using it for a good while now.

[Q] Gtalk new message widget?

I have been looking around but can not find a widget, or app that will display new messages for gtalk. I think it is weird that there is one for new sms messages, as well as other apps. I wish i was a dev and i would set it up. i guess all you need the widget to do is look for a string of text of the gtalk app and when it increments, tell the widget to display 1, 2 , 3, etc.
if there is an app that already exists or in development i would be more than happy to test or even pay.

I would like this as well. Test/Pay.
I've seen one on the market called unread count widget. It does SMS, call, gtalk and something else. Never tried it though.

[Q] Favorite Contacts list. Can it be changed from large icons to a scroll list?

I'm coming from the OG Droid (Android 2.3). There the favorite contacts list was a simple scrollable list.
In ICS 4.0.2 its a ridiculously oversized mosaic with pictures for each contact. I have too many favorites for that to be practical.
Where is the option to change the list from Icons to a Scroll list? Will I be forced to use a 3rd party app for that?

Oh, it's so, so crap isn't it?
And I have almost no contacts with pictures so it looks even worse. I've un-stared all of my contacts for this reason.
I also made some additional mods to the contacts app linked below:
* Removed contact picture from Recent Calls list - now a simple list
* Removed contact pictures from Frequently Called - now a simply list
Since I now have no favourites I don't have the problem you have with that list and my mod does *not* address that sorry... but it might help a bit.
Indeed I have no need for favourites any more because the Frequently Called and Recent Calls lists are sufficient for me.
I may look into the favourites section at some point but as I say, since I don't use them it's not a priority.

[Q] Gmail Unread count

From all the reading I have done, it appears that the unread count not showing on the gmail app is a known issue? When I get text messages, I see a "1" overlay on my messages icon. But not for Gmail. I did see an app in the play store that is "supposed" to fix this. Or would I be better served by flashing a custom rom. It seems pretty absurd to me that an OS made by google doesnt have overlays for Gmail.

I think that's a TouchWiz feature. And thats why it only works with the messages and built-in email app, etc.
I use Nova Prime, I think the pay version of most launchers includes that. But, I never found a free launcher that did it.

Nova might do it, if you install the tesla unread plugin, but I'm not sure. Picked up Prime when they had the $.25 sale and have loved it
Tried out nova prime with tesla unread plugin and it works decent. Without some app I don't know of a way to get the unread number on not stock apps.

When I have new emails in my Gmail account, there's a little icon in the notification bar. Ans when I swipe it down, it even shows me the titles of the emails. I know this doesn't solve ur problem, but it works for me.

I have the same thing. The notification bar just seems very crowded to me and I end up overlooking the notification. More of a personal problem than anything but would be a nice feature to have standard.

Email notification

If I use a third party email app, is there any way to get notifications? For example, the Asus Cover App has an email icon on the clock screen but I never see notifications there. I am guessing that is somehow tied to the default email app which I don't use. I'm using AquaMail and I have looked there for any kind of setting to achieve that but have not found anything.
Thought I'd bring this up to the top one more time. Does anyone know if this can be done?
I'm not using the built in email app. However, I would like notifications to show on the clock with the circle app. I'm using AquaMail, and it DOES give me notifications, but they do not show under the email icon in the circle app. Can this be done, or no?

Missing notification badges (counts) for ALL apps

Ever since a day or so after getting my pixel 3 xl, the count icon that appears as a badge above all apps which I have this functionality, shows just a blank dot, and no number in them.
So for example I can't see how many unread emails I have from the Gmail app icon... Same with any other so that should show a "count" over the icon.
I've read that a cache partition wipe solved this issue for some Galaxy phones but our phone doesn't allow for this particular to be wiped as it is sure managed or something...
ANY IDEA HOW TO FIX THIS WITHOUT HARD RESETTING?
OR is there any kind of full backup software that will save my apps, settings, and home screen setup?
What launcher are you using? if it is the default Pixel launcher, there is no count badge present. it only shows the notification dots. The Samsung Launcher, unlike the Google Launcher, shows the count.
To fix this, you may want to use a different launcher - Nova Launcher paired with TeslaUnread will give you the functionality you are looking for.
This is absolutely not true. My wife has the exact same phone and hers has a number in the bubble advice her text message app (and every other app with notifications) which show the number of unread text messages she has.
Mine just shows a bubble (dot. See the Facebook icon in the screen shot.)

I have never had a number on the dot using the pixel launcher. The only way I have is by using Nova launcher

No man, it absolutely is true. The default launcher with the Pixel 3 does not have numbers, only colored dots. That's it. Download a Home Switcher app on her phone and see what launcher she's currently using.
