[Q] Uber Z glitch, any help? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have and HTC Incredible and I have been trying to install the Uber Z rom on it. I have successfully installed it and got it to boot up, but then it glitches. After i set up all of my settings and accounts through the setup, its amazing. I love the rom and want to continue to use it. I noticed that after a while the phone will restart itself and boot up, over and over again. I try to open the lockscreen and it says that there is a problem with the android system. So i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it did the same thing. Can anyone help me out? I really would like to use this rom.

You may try another kernel, but did you fully wipe everything? Are you restoring apps AND DATA? That will cause problems. I also think that tom is abandoned. I recommend any of the other z roms that have been updated. Good luck, feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

Ok thanks I will try that in my spare time. But if that doesn't work, you mentioned other z roms that are updating constantly, which ones are out there? I have tried some others and the camera has not worked for me, I am hoping I can find ones that work. Thanks for the help..

Warm Z 2.2 nightlies are usually very stable and functional.

Help, constant crashes & reboots

Sorry about double posting, but I am getting desperate (posted on Q&A).
Can't find an answer to this on google or xda. Didn't know if I should post this in General or Q&A.
I have been using my Incredible since it came out. I quickly learned about rooting, roms, s-off... with no problems. I have been running Skyraider almost from the beginning.
Here is the problem: A few days ago, I noticed on the SR thread that there were updates for the radio and hboot. So, I went ahead and flashed them. Almost immediately I started noticing the screen becoming unresponsive. After a minute or two I did a battery pull, rebooted, and again after a little while, freeze and reboot. I also noticed that even when the phone is awake but screen off, it would wake itself up. The rebooting and freezing makes it impossible to use my phone.
I tried everything I could think of:
Nandroid restore (obviously didn't work since this doesn't effect hboot or radio).
Reinstalled fresh SR Rom wiping everything, including dalvik, and did factory reset.
Finally, I downgraded back to the hboot and radio versions I had before, still no effect. (Baseband version 2.15.00.07.28, hboot .79 ).
I tried installing another ROM (Uncommon sense) to make sure it wasn't a ROM issue, ..same problem.
Please, any help would be much appreciated. I don't know what my next step should be.
PS, I am not overclocking, just using stock kernel.

try downgrading to completely stock 2.1 then see if it keeps doing it...otherwise I'd say that maybe you did something wrong installing a file and it's bricked...that's what it sounds like anyways

Today it's running a bit better. I'll keep testing it, if it continues to crash, I will take your suggestion and go back to 2.1 and start over.
Just a thought: are you restoring your stuff via Titanium? If so, you may be restoring a bad / incompatible system instruction. You might try this: Do a master reset and restore your important apps (not data) one at a time to check performance. Install data later (also individually) as needed.

[Q] Recovery problems after Uncommon Sense

Wondering if I could get some ideas on why I experienced the following failure.
Was rooted with UnrEVOked 3.x for awhile. Installed ROM Manager and experimented with CM6. Didn't like it, restored back to stock with no major
issues. Today, I experimented with Uncommon Sense (did cache/data wipe and backup before). I used "MyBackup Pro" to get all my Apps back and some data. Loved it! After about 4 hrs, I started getting FC on mostly Google apps, but even some HTC apps. Exchange mail wouldn't sync. Phone, TXT, Web all worked fine.
I recovered with Clockwork to the backup I made just before going to Uncommon but all the FC issues persisted. I recovered again 2-3 times, making sure I did data/cache/delvik wipes. FC issues persisted. I pulled the battery sometime in there after a power down. No help.
Finally, I recovered to a backup I had from 6 days ago when I was experiementing with CM6. Fortunately this worked. No FC issues.
Now I'm paranoid about trying out other ROMs. If I cannot cleanly recover after an update, I really don't want to try another ROM.
Any help out there?
1) Why did Uncommon melt down? I'm running pretty standard stuff. No kernal changes, etc.
2) Why did the issues persist when I recovered? Any bullet proof ways of preventing this?
Crispy
Did you try running the "fix permissions" utility in ROM Manager? Noted there that it normal fixes force close issues.
Currently I am running Myn's Warm2.2 RLS3 but had previously loaded Uncommon Sense 1.0 and 1.1 anmd had no major issues with it. ( Myn's is nice! )
Try that permission fix utility and see if that solves your problem.
Yes, I tried the fix permissions utility, but I think it gave me errors.

Thank you. I could try that if I'm brave enough to go to Uncommon Sense again. Any explanation as to the cause? Is what happened to me normal when flashing ROMs and recovering?

ROM's are self contained entities - you probably just had an issue with that particular ROM. I've had awesome experience with the "Revolution" rom by HeyItsLou, Myn's Warm, Skyraider, and Virtuous.

[Q] HTC Desire HD Very Laggy After RCX HD Kingdom Rom with sense 3.0

Hi
I have updated my HTC desire HD to RCX HD Kingdom Rom with Sense 3.0 and After that the phone is very laggy. I know i can use set CPU which may help but i have no idead how to use Setcpu or of there any other solution.
can some one help me with this? I am starting new thread as i cant post in to any thread due to new user policy and i have to have 5 to 10 post to be able to reply to other post.
please let me know, if anyone has solution.
thanks
You can try re flashing again or go back to another ROM
Try reinstall the rom, the phone would be laggy st the first boot or once you restart the phone, but believe me, you would be satisfied
With sense 3

I'm using that ROM right now, and have to say that I am pleasantly surprised at the general speed of the ROM. You may things going on in the background that's causing your experience to be laggy. Wait until all apps re-install and see if it speed up. If all else fails, full wipe and re-install ROM.
hi,experts
i also have one question that after flashing this rom, my DHD get into the loop of rebooting itself.
the steps to flash are as following,
1.copy the ROM to SD card.
2. switch to recovery system.
3. wipe all
4. install for sd card
5. reboot the system.
but after all of the steps, it cant get the OS up.
could you give me some hints to fix the problem?
i heard that it's need to formate SD card for ext4 file system, is it really needed?
thanks in advance.
I've also flashed MDJ's v11 kernel, and using setcpu it's as smooooth as silk

I'm running Kingdom and I have to say its snappy no lags at all u will have to do a full wipe in order to work properly as its totally new base.I have Mdj v11 kernel flashed and OC and its perfect.)

I didn't have to format my SD card. Did you do a wipe using full wipe 1.3?
Could also be a corrupt download, in that case, re-download on pc, then use clockwork mod to mount the SD card and transfer it to your phone again & then try to flash again

I was also very suprised by the quickness of the RCMix Kingdom ROM. Runs soo smooth even tho it has few bugs, but soon everything will be solved and we wil be able to enjoy the ROM to its fullest potential
sorry, may be i cant help you
want to use ,but no well
I have also downloaded and tried this ROM. To original poster: I had the same problem until a reboot and then everything ran smoothly.
Anyway, I would love to report this bug or ask questions in the original thread, but I am not allowed to until I have ten posts. Kind of odd to add incentive to post ten useless replies in another forum. Heh.
Well, I was loving this rom until I realized I had NO cell phone signal. After going to Settings -> Wireless & Networks, the option for Mobilenetwork is grayed out and cannot be clicked on (i.e. nothing happens when clicking.) This is AFTER I choose my carrier (AT&T) and went through the set up choosing an option along the way that says "Wifi and Mobile Network."
So I re-flashed the rom, formatting the system, clearing the cache, clearing the davchek (sorry, forgot the word) cache. Then suddenly everything worked!
So I used the phone the rest of the evening and this morning with no problems when suddenly, I completely lost all cell phone service again (WIFI only works.) Tried restarting, pulling out the sim card, pulling out the battery, switching airplane mode on/off, but it will not work.
Why would my phone suddenly completely lose service for hours and hours?
Also I already sent a PM to the creator of the rom about this, but has anyone tried using the Chinese input with this? I can't get any of the input methods to work. After you type the pinyin, or strokes, etc, a box should pop up giving you choices of characters. The box won't pop up, so you can't pick a character, and the end result is that you can't type Chinese.
Other than that and the complete loss of service, I was loving this rom. Any help/idea would be appreciated. Thanks.
i had the same issue as the previous person & did exactly the same so far not had it happen again. I'll monitor though. Generally the rom does seem a little slow. But its far from a final release so i'm more then happy with this rom.

Same problem as me?
I just re-flashed. It connected to ATT, but the next time I restarted the phone, all service is gone. No way to get it back. Flashing back to an old rom. Hope someone can figure this problem out.
I'm using this ROM now, I really very satisfy this one even found some bugs, but it can acceptable

Has anyone used Boot Manager?

Seen this yesterday. Anyone use it yet? Goods/bads?
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...to-5-roms-on-one-device-flashaholics-rejoice/
I would sooo use that but I'm too cheap(internet broke) to buy that. I've always been plagued with having to choose a rom. I end up sticking with one for a while. Like just today I went to MIUI after a month of Synergy.
EDIT: I might be getting this app soon
Sounds like the devs on the app are committed to helping their customers iron out the kinks. When I get my evo back from being flashed I am going to install it and post back to this thread. Thanks for the heads up.
Just installed decks and the express roms.
Booted in to decks, set it up, no issues. The first boot seems to take a while.
Now switching to express.
UPDATE 1 -
After switching to the express rom, I was not really able to use the rom. I decided you pull up the application to switch back to the phone rom.
The application kept force closing. It did this on the phone rom and decks.
I then followed the instructions to flash the update.zip file to get back to the original rom. Now Im stuck on the bootloader screen. When the phone reboots it comes right back to the bootloader.
UPDATE 2 -
Wiped the cache, delvik and rebooted same issue.
Reflashed the phone rom - same issue.
Wiped the cache, delvik, reflashed the phone rom, rebooted - same issue
Wiped the cache, delvik, flashed decks from rom1, rebooted - BACK IN BUSINESS.
It seems that the initial phone rom is corrupt.
UPDATE 3 -
Trying to get back to the original rom from decks.
Went back to BootManager, selected phonerom from the list of installed roms - same issue as before.
Followed the same steps as in update 2 and Im back in decks
I hope to get a chance to email the developers. Takes hours for it to "load" a rom. Then when I try to run it, I get an error saying that the rom is not there. Very annoying. Nothing has worked on it yet. Waste of money thus far.

I have tried 2 different synergy ROM's and have yet to be able to boot into either. After the install process I try to boot into them and it gives a boot.img failed to flash error. Click on the ROM's individually gives a message that there is no ROM installed in the slots.
No response from my email yet, hopefully we can get some answers.
I gave it a try, installed and loaded a rom, it was so slow, I could have flashed n restored back to my original rom 10x it took for this app to do it, it worked the way it was supposed to but takes to long
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I tried it for about 10 mins could not get it to work just FC's so hit refund.
Not so sure if its the ROM im running but was not happy with it
Sorry for the delay. After several emails to and from the developer, I flashed CWM recovery :shutters:. I tired to manually restore just the boot.img of the phone rom and still no luck. I then tried using adb to manually insert the boot.img into the nand as the developer instructed. This still did not work. I uninstalled and politely asked for a refund that was granted.
Its a great idea, just needs more work on the original backup of the phonerom, apparently this is a known issue. I lost everything (my fault I know, but i was excited) but I did like decks so much that I flashed it as my daily rom.
I e-mailed their support staff on Saturday evening & got a response on Sunday, which impressed me, so I thought I'd share with you guys what they said.
When trying to install a Synergy Rom, I got the message asking whether this ROM was sd-ext2 or sd-ext4, & never could get them to install (which I'd assume is b/c they all run using ext3), so I shot over an e-mail asking if they had any advice, & here was their response.
Currently apps2sd or data2sd will not work. If you are somewhat savvy with this stuff you can move the files that would go on the sd-ext back to the system or data folder in the zip where they should go. Then make your system.img size big enough to hold all the files of the bigger rom in menu/settings/manually set variables. I'm working on some solutions to do some of this automatically for some of the devices.

I have dta2sd and not about to spend time to undo that for this app. However I hold out hope that they will support a2sd in the future (since i bought it... LOL). And I think that they should state that fact up front in the app description.
On the other hand I'd pay/support somebody $3 to develop this kind of app. There are so many cool ROMS out there that I'd love to try out.
Right now I am running MIUI latest and love it.
I have no problem paying for apps. I only ask for the simple things like the app working properly. I have yet to recieve an email from the developer. I hope that they see this thread. Actually, I may send this link to them. I read somewhere that one of the developers is on XDA.
I just want a working app, or a refund. I don't think that is to much to ask.

I bought this app...
I bought boot manager two days after release and I have had no real problems yet, I flash a new test ROM almost every day. At first I had some "user errors" and twice on the first day I had to flash the phoneROMs update.zip b/c I forgot that CM needed a flash of google apps... and the app CANT run without authentication from the market... ("Herp DERP")
other than that, I've seen some ROMs run slow. but I figured that was b/c they where sense based and running from the sdcard.
Anyone know how to flash kernels?

Best app so far. Love it. Triple booting synergy rls1 as phone ROM with salvagemod and cm7 in slots. It only takes about a minute to switch between roms too.
There was a thread that got moved to q&a for reason, and the developer did respond.
Will try to flash kernel tomorrow
FYI - I could not get synergy + godmode to work. Without GM works fine

HELP - Desire HD only able to successfully flash ONE particular ROM...

Hey guys,
For months now, I've constantly been chopping and changing the ROM around on my DHD, without any issues. All ROMs used to install without errors, and they would all boot to a usable level.
Recently, for the past week or 2, I have only been able to successfully install JellyTime 4.2.2 R11.
Every other ROM I have tried (and trust me, I've tried a fair few), all successfully install, but then become frozen at the boot HTC logo.
I have had a look around the forum to find a solution to this, however most issues similar to this seem to be S-ON, or an issue installing all ROMs.
I am yet to find someone with the same issue as I am having, making it super difficult to find the solution.
That's where you guys can come in...
I'd really appreciate the help. I've just this week turned down the offer of the HTC One, on favour of keeping my now 3 year old DHD, and I'd love to be able to keep modding it for years to come.
So please, help me to have some more fun with my DHD before they finally are obsolete..

Some of the sense ROM's come with kernels that can be flashed only with s-off.
otherwise, make sure you use 4ext recovery.Wipe all except sdcard, then go to the tools menu and format>ext4 menu>wipe data, system, cache, all with ext4.I've had an issue again with CWM/TWRP, where it gave me Encryption Unsuccesful error on boot, and it did so on every ROM onwards.Switched back to 4ext, all is working fine.
In the long run, the S-Off is worth it.
I've tried that. A fair few times...
I've wiped and formatted /system, /data and /cache, as well as wiping the dalvik cache before clean installing each ROM.
I have quite the OCD when it comes to residual files and such, so I wouldn't dream of installing a ROM without a full wipe first.
For me, this still wouldn't explain why I can still install JellyTime without any issues. If anything, JellyTime is working better than any of the previous ROMs I've tried, I'd just like to open up the possibility to explore further..
Is it likely to be a problem with the SD card? The one I'm using is as old as the handset (3 years), and I've named this as the cause of some alight lag issues in the past, but I've never come across this problem before...
Nothing against the ROM, but I wouldn't want to be stuck on JellyTime indefinitely..

Yeah, I'm on S-Off (Altogether, this seemed like the simplest Root form when I first began exploring, and I've kept it that way since).
But I'm having the same issue when I try to install ROMs that I've used without problems before, on the same handset, so I can't understand what's changed?

Hi I got the same problem six months back. I format the SD card then I tried to install other ROMs. It was successful. So try Good Luck.:good:
UPDATE - After trying over 10 different ROMs without success, I resigned to buying a new SD card, eventually deciding that this simply MUST be the source of the problem.
I bought a new 32GB SD, partitioned it, and flashed a ROM at random.
No issues at all.
I've tried a fair few since, including ones I had problems with before, all without any trouble whatsoever
Cheers for your help guys!
