Gorilla glass on Evo? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just read an article that claims HTC evo 4g has gorilla glass and gives the following link as evidence... can anybody confirm this or is that some PhotoShop magic.... and does having gorilla glass mean we can remove screen protectors?

No that's incorrect it doesn't have gorilla glass. Why don't you test it and find out!
~ d3rk

From the sheer number of shattered screens that have come into my store, I can soundly say that no, the Evo does not have gorilla glass. Whatever "proof" is offered is completely wrong.

Are you referring to this article: http://www.tgdaily.com/mobility-features/55330-htcs-sensation-is-one-tricked-out-4g-smartphone
It's the HTC Sensation for T-Mobile. It allegedly will have gorilla glass.

I chuckled at where it says the HTC Hero has gorilla glass.... not...

Really, this is the legit website for gorilla glass and they don't have information that is even close to correct.

Why are people claiming it doesn't have Gorilla Glass? If Corning says it does, what makes you think it doesn't?
Gorilla Glass is strong but it's not unbreakable.

Mine cracked from a fall of ~12". Evo has been out for almost a year and I've never heard anyone else claim it has gorilla glass.

From there website , interesting

Maybe Gorilla Glass is or will be used on newer EVO 4G models... Or they just want bragging rights!

If the Evo actually does have Gorilla Glass, just means that the I'm unimpressed.

Dunno be nice if they did on the newer 0004 and so on lol.

I've dropped my phone enough to be convinced there is gorilla glass on here, end I've never had a screen protector. Not one scratch and almost a year how.

Any phone like touch pro 2 on android config out?

I have the HTC evo now but I have had both tilts and other keyboarded HTC winmo devices over the years, but I haven't seen what I would call my dream phone.
I know the touch pro 3 is coming out but it has phone 7 and a smaller screen than I think it should.
Has anyone heard of any phone that has a sliding tilting screen with a giant lcd running android?

The Samsung Epic is an Android phone with QWERTY and 1Ghz processor.
The thing is, it's a Samsung phone and feels very cheap and plastic. If you drop it, it's a goner. Still though, it looks to be a great device.

Does wildfire come with screen protector on?

i cant tell whether ther is one on or not.
can someone please confirm.
im asking because i only found out my t-mobile pulse had a screen protector when it smashed one day.
My factory sealed Wildfire did not come with a screen protector.
Mine didn't have one on it
Mine had one one it which had all writing on it to tell me to take it off. I just went and purchased an invisibleshield after that.
just the factory warning one with remove before use on mine
My son has a Wildfire and it had no screenprotector in the box, only the thin plastic wich should be removed.
You really dont need one, it has a freakin gorilla glass

I don`t think it has Gorilla Glass.
According to gsmarena, it does.

According to GSMArena, the Wildfire has an Adreno 200 GPU, the same unit as on the Desire. So, I wouldn't go by what GSMArena says on the Wildfire, even though it is probably the mobile site of my choice.

According to me, it doesnt. When i bought it, i had to wait 3 days to get an invisibleshield protector, and i got a small almost unnoticeable scratch on there during that 3 day period, even tough i kept my wildfire in Golla pouch.

Now that`s interesting....
Funny thing, it was never a selling point for the Wildfire, like it was for other phones.
I put on a screen protector and after a week or two there is a big scratch on it that makes the touch feel much less smooth. I end up replacing it with a new one every three weeks or so.
Is this normal to do that?

Maybe you are using cheap, 3 for 2$ screen protectors. Those are pretty much crap.
Mine actually came with 2
One on the bottom (which attacts finger prints like ****)
And one above that one which was quite rigid when I had to take it off.

however i am sure that the wildfire hasn't
what do you think?
I tend to agree with you. As far as I know, it doesn't. But, apart from their site, even GSMArena lists the Wildfire has Gorilla Glass. Contradictory
I think it may do. I've dropped it a few times face down on various surfaces, carpet, tiles, the toilet (it got pretty wet, but it survived), gravel, school changing room floor etc and not a scratch! And before anyone suggests it, I do not have a screen protector.
I think I'm going to agree with Will here. Mine has had many encounters with the earth too, and my screen doesn't have a scratch. No protector here either.
Although I must say I normally keep it in a separate pocket (not with my keys, lighter and stuff...); maybe that has something to do with it too?
Anyone can confirm, or share their opinion?
contradictory things.
my wildfire is manufactured in september 2010 and it got few scratches. im using a scratch guard now.
even GSMArena says that wildfire has GPU which is a big joke.
those are really huge blunders which make us confused.

Mytouch Logo mod?

Hi,
I haven't received my MT4G yet, but am already thinking of a logo mod after reading in the TPU thread that, that would be the only thing a case could do (cover the mytouch logo), that would make it perfect.
I see guys in the Nexus one forum polishing the N1 case, so am wondering if anyone here is thought of a mod to the glass (or screen protector) to cover up the logo?
I looked at some replacement digitizers on ebay, and all of them come with the logo. Niche market perhaps?

You need the housing from the HTC panache
I know what you mean. Panache digitizer glass, not housing.

They aren't selling the panache's parts current I think, wait a few months and they may start to appear.
When the warrenty on this phone is over, and if I still have it by then, I'm thinking about getting the black battery cover and the housing around the camera in the back and having a hybird mytouch? Black and white?
I just switched to Verizon and got a ThunderBolt. My 4G speeds vary from 12-30Mbps!!!

Yeah, except LTE speeds reduce substantially when there are actually a good amount of people with those phones. I tried one in best buy that had a strong LTE signal and it got roughly 2.5mbps down while my MT4g got about 5-6mbps down.
It lowered my chances of ever switching to Verizon to say the least.
BEFORE you say that I probably wasn't on LTE, I was in Portland, OR. One of the first places to get LTE.

How big would you want your phone?

Since I think this is the largest phone for sale at least in the US and it appears we are creeping up in size I ask "how big would be too big"? I think I saw some reference somewhere that there is a 5 inch phone. Would a 5 inch phone be too big? How about 6 inches?
I have jokingly put Galaxy Tab 10 inch up to my ear but it isn't inconceivable that phone functionality could be incorporated into a tablet. The radios are already a part of the data connected tablets. I use a BT headset and have for many years so using a large device as a phone wouldn't take getting used to. Some people still like sticking a phone up to their ear but could you or would you use a large device as a phone?
I suppose the question would then become how small a tablet would be considered too small.
I think this should print out at close to a 6 inch phone.
The Epic 4G touch is actually slightly (very slightly) smaller than the Infuse 4G.
I think 4.5 inch screen without any borders on the sides is the absolutely perfect dimension. That's what I see the being the most popular in the future to come. 4.5 inch screen flush with the side of the phone. The ET4g touch gets close.
This is as big as a phone should get. Actually, I prefer the size of the EVO 3D, if only it were as thin and light as the SGS2 it would be the perfect form factor.
I love big screen phones. Maybe 5 inch Max as long as the whole front was screen.
The Evo3D Killer!!!
Isn't the dell streak a 5in screen in the us

Waiting...
Waiting for Nexus Prime or this...
When the OG Droid came out, I thought 3.7 was enormous and I laughed at the pitiful Iphone users stuck with 3.5. When the 4.0 and 4.3 inch phones started to roll out, I opted for the Fascinate since I thought 4.0 was just right and 4.3 would feel too monstrous. Now with the GS2, 4.5 feels ideal. I'll probably keep thinking that until a slew of 5 inch phones start hitting the market and I'll adjust.

It's funny.. I had the my touch 4g which was 3.7, I was happy to get a 4 inch screen on the g2x. I thought 4 was perfect perfect side and that 4.3 would be a little too big for me But when I got the sensation I thought 4.3 was perfect, then I had/have the evo 3d so when I heard the E4GT was 4.52 I thought again, "that's too big for me.. 4.3 is perfect" Then I held a E4GT and fell in love. It really wasn't as monstrous as I imagined it would be. I mean if you think about it .22 inches bigger isn't all that much
I think this is about as big as I would want my phone to be, but I can't helping thinking if it were heavier I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much.
I think we will hit a limit at 4.5-5inches as far as phones people are willing to hold up to their ear.
We may see sales of tablets larger than that will phone functionality built in but thsoe that use them will only do so with bluetooth headsets.
The Galaxy Note does look pretty nice and at 5.3 inches gets close to 6 inches. It is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket or jacket breast pocket. Not quite as big as a tablet. I like the idea of a stylus having spent 6 years with Treos.
I use a bt headset. But I couldn't imagine carrying a 10.1 holster around on my pants when I take the dog for a walk...
And no... it's not fitting in my pocket either...
Thoughts: Please don't read the above in the wrong way. I just reread and... nvm
Anything above 5 is beyond pushing it. I'm not even sure if I wanted a 4.52 phone...
I think E4GT is as big as I would want a phone too. I almost think it's a little too big, but then again, I thought that about my EVO 4G before but got used to it.
3 years ago it would have been 3.7"
2 years ago it would have been 4"
Last year it would have been 4.3"
This year is 4.5" and soon 4.65"
Next year is the Samsung Note at 5.3"
The coming generation of edge-to-edge displays will allow them to get at 5.5" display into a case the size of our Epic 4G Touch.
So why is Apple about to release another phone that is less than 4" if no one wants them so little?
