I rooted my phone, now how do I remove all this Google junk I don't need?

I'm sure somehow this will offend you, or offend someone else for some reason, but did you try searching? There are several threads and posts showing you how to do it.
No, I don't get offended. Don't even worry about it. Yes, I will do some more searches.

there are at least two ways that I know of. U can use ADB to remove them while your phone is in recovery mode or u can use Titanium back to uninstall just about any app.

Thank you, I will try this.
I just searched and came up with nothing.

rm -r /system/app/whateverthenameoftheapkis.apk
rm -r /system/app/whateverthenameoftheapkis.odex
In adb it would be
adb remount
adb shell
# rm -r /system/app/whateverthenameoftheapkis.apk
# rm -r /system/app/whateverthenameoftheapkis.odex
You could also use Root Explorer (or Android Mate, or SU File Manager), and go to /System/App, or use Titanium Backup, and delete that way. Be aware though, deleting the wrong things could seriously bork your install, causing you to need to relash.
Different ROMs have different methods. For example, is your ROM de-odexed? Are all apps stored in /system/app? I'm working on a script that can remove bloatware. Just trying to iron out the kinks.

I tried getting Root Explorer from a friend, but it wouldn't install.
I can't order from the Market any paid apps because I don't remember credit card info, when will they support paypal or add to your bill?
None of these apps are under system/app
Titanium Backup doesn't even work... I say Force Delete and then it says it will restart my phone twice and then it restarts it and it will sit at that screen where like your getting a update for 10 minutes then I click the power button and it says E: can't find signature or somethin' like that, so I select restart and I'm back to square one...
I am running the stock ROM.

I hope this thread is a joke? and it should be in general.
Use adb and use pm uninstall.
Or...more simple than anything... grab titanium backup and just pick and choose ANY apps you want to get rid off without doing any extra steps...

Posted from my HTC Vision via XDA App
I really think you need to do some reading and learning before you start jumping into this. From ur posts u obviously have no idea what you are doing and need to know before you ruin your phone. Apps arent just labeled as you see them in the phone. If u can't figure out how to delete the stock apps you don't want there's no was your goining to figure out witch apps are witch in the system folder. And if you delete the wrong one ur effd. No offence or anything just read up and take notes then jump into it. oh ya post in the rite section
No offense taken. Still learning. Google is my friend I figured it out
That's why I love this community...lots to learn and always to better my knowledge and of course lots of helpful people.

What I did...was in TI Free...hit the "problems" button and it will ask if you want to load busy box...
Do it
Then it will list all your apps
Find the one you want to delete...press and hold
It will pop up a window and on the end of that window list there is a option to force uninstall.
That's how I got rid of a few apps I didn't want or need and my phone is running great.
But as the guy above said...be careful.
Good luck

I have a bunch of questions that the wiki didn't answer but I'm sure someone has asked so I don't want to again. But. When I search I get stuff from other deviece forums as well. Any ideas
Thanks. And is there a thanks feature?

Buy Titanium back up from the Market. Get busy box from with in the app. Do a batch back up of apps and data. Export contacts to SD card if they are not in your Google account. Once you root make sure you do a NANDROID back up. Flash way. Go to Market d/l Titanium "free" the license will automaticly turn it to pro it. Batch restore. Done.

Ok, question 1 is odd, if you an issue updating and all you have done is rooted and changed to the Clean Kernel, its possible you got a bad download. Your best bet is to PM dRockstar on that one. Its really strange if it shows updates available and won't, that's some random issue
On to question 2...definately make a nandroid backup. Power down the phone. Hold volume down, camera button, and power on all at the same time. Scroll down with volume key and select backup/restore. Then select backup and let it do its thing. It takes a few minutes but then you have a backup to rely on BUT its always best to take out your SD card and backup everything to your PC. Nandroid backups aren't always perfect and sometimes if you use one it may not work. If you flash a ROM, its best to install apps fresh but you can (after flashing ROM) boot into recovery, scroll to backup/restore, then advanced, then restore data only. Some ROMs may give you fits that's why its always best to have a saved version of everything on your PC as well

Apps bought from the Amazon Market can only be updated through the Amazon Market. The markets are separate and do not share purchase records. You'll need to have Amazon, and update through it, which is, unfortunately, a little slow on pushing out updates. Rest assured, they will come. Dev pages like SetCpu will post the app free sometimes, but the version in the market is donation-ware. If you want to get it updated for free, you'll have to go back to the page you originally got it and get a new one.

A couple things here:
What CWM are you on? If you have to update it for a new rom, be aware that the Nandroid backups will not be compatible, and you'll have to odin back to re-use a backup, should something go wrong. I don't know about Swiss Cheese, you'll have to read the posts in it's thread to know if it can flash without losing data. I've posted a rom called RandomROM that is based off of SRF 1.1.0, which can flash over another version of SRF safely, but may not work properly in other situations.
Thanks for the info on the updates
And I'm on cwm 2.5.1
I have a nandroid backup, a mybackup back up. Ill get that other one as well and ill see how things go and then try n flash a rom

I would like to delete the stock HTC/Android music players and use Winamp only. Can I put Winamp into system/app and use it as the default music player? Is there any special way to do it and will there be any issues? Thanks in advance.
You can use it as default without deleting the stock player. Removing the stock music app could cause issues, so if you want to try it, I'd either back up the app with Titanium Backup (or freeze it) or make a nandroid backup first. To freeze apps - and possibly backup system apks - you need the Pro version of TB or another app that will do the same.
After removing the stock music player, if you do so successfully, it isn't necessary to move Winamp to /system/app.

Thanks plainjane, you always have my back. The reason I ask is I don't like a lot of different apps that do the same thing on my phone. If removing it might cause issues I'll just freeze them. I do have TB pro. Thanks again. Off the topic but, would you know why my participated topics are not showing up on the xda app on my EVO?

Mine don't show either, now that you mention it. I use Tapatalk but I've purchased the XDA app, so I'll download it & check there in a sec. I've never used the "participated" tab, though. I just go to profile and then posts if I want to check stuff I've recently posted.
If freezing doesn't cause any issues, you can then remove it safely. I'd make a backup of it in TB though, just in case. And since you already have the app, you can easily convert Winamp to a system app. As I said, not necessary, but shouldn't hurt anything.
Edit: No go in XDA app either. You can contact someone about it if it's a feature you regularly use, maybe someone can get it sorted out.

hello,
i have a epic 4g rooted, stock rom, seems that when i go to the market, it does not show the apps that i have installed and/or the ones that i purchased. additionally, if i were to delete one of these missing apps, they still dont show up in the market/google play. I have attempted to use various market enablers, but this has not solved my issue. on another note, and perhaps related, when i use titanium backup only one app shows setcpu, while previously it was working.
a lending hand would greatly be appreciated.

Try wiping data in Google Play, and let it rebuild your list. You may need to use Titanium backup for this.

The problem is FRUSTRATING the "F" out of me with Google Play. I have a rooted and running AKOP epicmtd milestone 5.2 and when I go to download certian apps (even ones I already had before on my apps list), I get a black box that says "This device isn't compatible with this version" It's making me crazy because there are LOTS of apps that are pretty common that I use I cant download. Like Facebook for instance. But there are more important ones that I count on that I cant get back. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone solve this problem?? I sure could use some help cause Im bout ready to throw this thing at my annoying step daughter LOL! Thanks

Ive rebooted from there, Ive done this process over and over about 5 times and it's still not working and now some of my app icons have been changed to the little android guy. VERY confused now EESH!! Anymore ideas?

Titanium backup. It allows you to uninstall anything. If you are not sure about a program, you can freeze it, which will not allow the program to run, then if no problems occur it can be uninstalled. if you search, you can find an ongoing list of programs safe to delete
Thank you guys, I ended up getting the pro version and will search for that list of apps you talkrd about and go from there.
