Oops..

i posted the begining of my problem somewhere on monday but cant remember where. so.....
on monday, the screen on my tmobile dash messed up, now the top half of the screen has white horizontal lines covering it.
well, i called tmobile and the phone was still under warrenty, so got a like new phone sent and it arived today. I went about unlocking it and upgrading to wm6.1 like i had on my last phone. started out with all sorts of problems sycning and i had to reinstall active sync and that seemed to fix it. continued installing the upgrade, the dos program runs i press the center button and i get the red blue green screen and i know from before that that normally means it isn't working, so i reboot the phone, re sync, and re do it and get the red green blue screen again and the update program says it can recover and it leads me through a four step process, upplug, pull bat, reboot and do it again, only it reboots into the red green blue screen, wouldnt sync and when i turned it off, i couldnt get it to power back up. no response from the phone at all. pulled battery many times and all.
What are my options? I know that i agreed to the statment and i have no one to blame but my self. is there anything i can do? i have 7 days to return the half working phone, and i have a feeling that because its unlocked and has wm6.1 on it that tmobile is going to charge me what ever it will be. I have 200.00 in credit with um, and i feel that those fees will take away from that, leave me with an un usable phone, and no money to do anything about it !
a brainstorm, could i just tell tmobile that i got the phone that way? or would they see through my lies?
please please please please help!!!

Okay do this, make sure the phone is off and hold the camera button down for about 5 seconds... this button is located to the right of the keyboard. While still holding it down plug in the phone to the usb and now you should see a tri-colored screen come up. Now you can load the original rom the phone came with... The official roms could be found in the link below... called "official roms" and just download the t-mobile rom... and now you can flash your phone with the original rom...

Ok, I had found a forum post saying to hold down the SYM button, but couldn't get it working untill I read your reply. Much thanks, the phone is on, and giving me the red green blue screen. I hear the windows alert saying a USB device is plugged in, but active sync wont pick it up. So I'll post about it here, and while I dig through the internet trying to find my cure, I will hope that someone will know what my next step is.

jdoggraz already told you what to do. YUou do not have to wait for active sync to pick the phone. Just run the exe for the orginal rom.

I have tried to do a hard reset.
Hold the 2 softkeys down(the "-" on each end) for a few seconds, hot the power button down for 2 seconds and then hold the 2 softkeys down and wiat, but nothing happens. Donno why, but may be not being able to hard reset is a clue to whats wrong.

I have found something about a program called Mtty.exe, and also a UNI_ExitBootLoader But I get a "un able to connect to usb" error with both programs when I try to connect. But, once again, every time I plug the phone into the computer I hear the alert saying a usb device has been attached??

I just noticed in Device Manager, under Window CE USB Devices, that my Smartphone USB Sycn Has that nasty Yellow explanation mark next to it.
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

why are you resetting it? you were at the bootloader screen in your last post...right where you needed to be. now you are 2 steps back?

Sorry guys, I guess I wasn't getting a refreshed look at the forum post, and I didn't see any other posts. I went back to what I was told to do in the first place.

And in the lower right there is a string of characters that is different every time.

An update.
I have gotten wm5 installed and working on my phone. I can't for the life of me get the 6.1 update to work. I get the agreement, press the center button and it goes back to the OS, the phone then locks up, and I have to restart it to re sycn.
This is very time consuming! The phone takes for ever to start. I also want to note that I upgraded my last dash with little problems, but this dash has been nothing but a head ache. WHY?!?!? I am not looking forward to being stuck with this phone.
Thanks everyone, for all the help. I went a little off course last night, I was falling asleep trying to get this thing working.

[Q] [HELP] My Desire seems to be dead!

Did a search in the forum and the other "dead desires" don't seem to be like mine, so here's going -
1) I flashed to latest MIUI rom and vorkkernel yesterday.
2) The phone worked for a few hours, then all of a suddenly the screen just went blank and the phone shut down.
3) I tried to switch on the phone in both normal and recovery mode by holding down vol down button, neither way works. The only thing that happens when I press power button is the notification LED blinks orange then green repeatedly.
4) I took out the battery for a few hours and replaced it, same thing
I don't really think it is the rom or the kernel, since I did the same thing a few months ago and there was no problem. But I can't even power on my phone now
Anybody can help?

I might know the problem, take out the battery and look if the things that go into the battery on the phone are right. My friend had the same problem, but we fixed it. Just use something to fix those small things so they are up, and not to the corners.

bottom buttons not working, please help

bottom buttons not working, none of the three. when i try to press back or menu, sometimes nothing happens and sometimes i press above, like menu at home page. And also when i try to keep touching them after a while the phone gets crazy, and starts to make strange things like entering some apps, switching between them, taking screen shots (normally i do not know how to do it), beeping, and going on like this without stopping. if i can press power of, it stops, otherwise it goes on himself.
i try pressing all three at same time may times, and i restart many times. Sometimes it starts normal with buttons working, usually with not-working buttons, but it gone againg Now i am trying to use without buttons, but when i start any apps, i can not back, so everytime i restart ((( offfff
My device is original , original rom without root, or something else. i just install apps from market thats all.
Before it goes crazy with non-working buttons, i just start to use a Bluetooth headset (discovery 975), after pairing with it for a time i use normal both device. and my last app which i install via google market was "GSM Signal Monitoring". Now i uninstall it, and bluetooth is off. But problem is still valid

Have you try factory reset? Backup data 1st.

Happened to me, I got a new screen under warranty.

i did not do a factory reset yet, because backup everything and saving passwords... it is also a hard work

Same here, mine also get replaced under warranty and it is a hardware problem

i hope mine's is not a hardware problem, because i have no warranty
but for a 12 hours it works normal, i do not know what effects it but i make bluetooth on, and it seems normal now.

I had the same problem, they replaced the touch screen under warranty.
Even with an unlocked bootloader.

i had a similar problem on my first hox and it was replaced under warranty
my buttons were completely dead. yours seem to still have some life in them. try a factory reset. if that doesnt work then try holding all 3 keys at once for 3 seconds. i am told that this "resets" them
if neither of these work them i am afraid the screen is broken

Yeah it's broken.
In the HTC shop they reflashed the RUU just in case, but, it was broken.
Why do you have no warranty?

Hi friend, just know i read your invoice while i was trying to find a solution in my same problem. My device HTC One X (32Gb official rom, not rooted, android 4.2.2, Sense 5.0)
Most of my friends say that the only thing i have to do is to send it at the service as it is still on warranty. I have tried everything before, like reset, remove everything, but the problem still occurs.
Tomorrow i will try the service

Can this be due to the recent update?

Hi. I've never imagined such a thing to happen at random and I strongly believe this to be an outcome of the recent OTA update (4.4.2, S5). Everything was working fine until today evening when I picked up my phone to make a call and boom...the buttons just stopped responding. I barely stay away from my phone...and I had it functioning fine 2 minutes before they stopped responding.
What could be the cause of it? Is there anyone out here who can please...please shed some light on this. I'm not opting in to do a hard reset yet because I have this thing called 'button savior' doing the job for me but of course it ain't nothing in comparison to the stock thing. Plus, this is annoying to see your device go off on you in such random fashion. Any help will be highly appreciated...really looking forward to hearing from someone.

BUMP!
Is there anyone who can throw some light on this? I have been told that front panel is faulty and it'd cost me approx. 8k+ for the replacement of the entire front panel. I'd rather sell this than spend 8k on it.

Mine started doing the same thing and I also had no warranty for the device. The way I got around not being able to use the physical buttons was through an app called Button Savior. You can download it from the play store and there is a free version that functions perfectly well. If you aren't rooted then install the non-root version. This app puts touch buttons on your screen. It takes a little getting used to, but overall Button Savior was a great alternative for me.

There's no way the buttons will come to life after the reset. I tried all of that but to no use. As a last option, try to place all 3 fingers on the bottom buttons for few seconds (I've heard few cases reporting it to be the magic key but not in my case ). If still the things dont work, the only good option is to download this app called 'button savior'. This will save you from the big replacement expense (I think the front panel is close to 100$+ and about INR 8,000 here in India). As someone else also stated here, it will take you a little while to get used to it but believe me it will still be better than betting that kind of amount on a dead device. Good luck!

it was only a virus!!!
i dont know how (because i have only 12 apps including games) but i found it
VERY unnormal that the keys didnt work until 10 PM and them for 3 hours everything
was fine.
at the day they worked sometimes but mostly not.
i thought of a virus before having to make a FULL WIPE aaaaaand yeahhhhh
quihoo found the virus in the last 1% of his scan.
MAYBE this will help somebody...someday :laugh::angel::good::good::good:

M8 Black Screen

Hi,
I picked this phone up a couple of days ago and it seems to be great, I got it rooted S-Off ect, flashed C-Rom no problems at all, and the phone was flying, however then I decided to try a custom Kernel (Furnace Kernel) and ever since I have had a black screen.
Its all a bit odd really, the phone seems to still be working it turns on, and if I press up and power together i can hear it take the screenshot but I can see nothing on the screen at all, so am really not sure what to do with it, I cant see anything to get into twrp to get it restored (if that would work)
If I hold vol up and power for a few seconds I go however get the HTC "powered by android" screen that I can see, then it just go's black again and I have nothing.
Really not sure what is going on with it, any advice would be very helpful.

Just try dirty flashing rom again, which will put you back on the roms built in kernel.
I'm not familiar with the kernel you flashed, but perhaps it's not compatible?

Not black SOD but something quite similar

So guys I just got this G3
D850 to be exact
So all is good everything works great...
Upon rooting And flashify to flash bumped twrp I have a rebooting issue....
Phone works great i can flash roms I can do everything nothing broken in system it seems..
No flicker no fade to black none of that When the device is on and up and running all is great.....
So here the issue
If I reboot to recovery it boots to black screen with no backlight touch works lcd is working when I shine a light on it....No damage
If I try man Recovery boot seems like when I hold vol down it boots black screen....
So I pop battery again And See what the heck....
Normal boot most of the time works fine lcd works...
It seems like every time I attempt to boot to recovery with the widget Half the time I have to pop bat reboot and try a second time... then it works
Recovery works from widget say 65% of the time
I still have yet been able to boot recovery manually when I do get it to "Turn on" No black screen the button combo does not work...
Other times when it does reboot black screen the system boots fine again touch works everything works but no backlight....
Again also when boot with screen backlight working which is most every normal power boot Never a single issue no lag hanging on off screen nothing....
I dont know If I described this good enough but If anyone does respond I can give more details...
BTW I have tried several times Using flashtool restore stock and start over
Update fresh stock KK works 85% of the time But still does it every now and then.
Still have yet to get the rite button combo for recovery or fac reset mode stock,,,I hav tied many lg button combos, Vol up down left right Press and release I am no newcomer to LGs "fancy"Recovery entry combitnations
but boots screen on to OS every time. And no issues with any 3 of the buttons either
So no matter what its like the Back light is taking several seconds to power on If I shine my light when It happens I can see the device boot normally no backlight in screen
I just so happen to have a spare Screen on hand So I will swap and test it....
Its just weird that when it does power on it works fine

Solved it was a bad firmware download I redownloaded firmware and reflashed all seems good now

I thought I was the only person on here who answered their own post's. Glad you got it figured out! I've had similar issues but it seems to be related to one particular battery I use as a backup. Not quite the same issue but similar.

I dont know if it was doing it whwn i got it last week. But I rite out of the box. Downgraded rooted and flashed many roms all did the same thing with the screen. Swapped panels every thing. Said screw it I had a g2 that had bad firmware out of the box and the camera didnt work. This one nfc and screen. Tried a diffrent source for kk firmware and its been once again to me as i have already owned a g3. Upgraded to 4 and 5. And am back. The greatest device ever. Even a battery from 2014 getting 3 3.5 hours sot is good for me

That is good battery life for any device. I do good to get 14 hours.
