Hi guys,
I'm an admitted noob at flashing android phones, I followed AlexDP's guide to rooting the Telus DHD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954997) everything went smooth. So I tried to flash the Android Revolution 3.2, it seemed to install properly, but when the phone rebooted it got stuck in a boot loop. I rebooted into recovery and tried to flash RaidRoid 1.32.405.6, but I'm still stuck in a boot loop.
I understand from reading the forums that a boot loop isn't necessarily a big deal, but I'm a little unsure as to what to do to recover from it?
Can I choose wipe data/factory reset from ClockworkMod Recovery, or do I need to try another rom?
Thanks for any help.
choose wipe data in clockwork mod, then re-flash whatever rom you want.
Ok, thanks descenpet
So did that help you to get out of the boot loop?
Maybe the zip file is corrupted, try downloading it again
I was in the middle of trying to re install the PD98IMG.zip file from the downgrade process when descenpet replied. It was successful, and I am out of the bootloop, but now I'm unsure as to where that leaves me? Am I running raidroid now, or have I gone back to what I had before rooting/flashing?
Thanks guys
Just noticed I no longer have superuser, so I guess that answers my question.
Thanks again.
if you use PD98IMG.zip, it will go back to stock. only thing that could remain is radio s-off if you did it. you will have to re do everything else starting from temproot.
Thanks for your help descenpet. I'm up and running with Raidroid now. Going to do a nandroid backup and redownload Android revolution.
Thanks again, really appreciate the quick responses.

Ok Im not a noob but made a definate noob mistake was running jboogies blurless gigner 2.1 rom wasnt paying attention and downloaded the blurless ginger froyo thinking it was an update to what i already had and restored it now im stuck in a boot loop and cant get into custom recovery. is there a way to flash back to stock or get into the custom system recovery through a key sequence im not new to modding but am new to modding motos and I should have paid more attention to what i was downloading.any help would be most appreciated
This is just like installing a basic debranded ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853674
Follow that guide there. The only thing that will be different is that to get into the bootloader, you'll need to pull out the battery (to stop your current bootloop) and then hold Vol UP when you re-insert the battery and turn the phone back on.
That'll get you into the default bootloader, and from there you can flash a default ROM using that guide.
Edit:
Oh, if it doesn't boot after flashing the default ROM (hopefully it will, but you never know), then you might still need to clear your Data/Cache partitions.
To do that, flash the default rom with the guide above, then boot into the Moto recovery by holding Vol DOWN when you power on the phone, the pressing the search button when you get a ! on the screen.
From there you can clear Data/Cache.
Edit 2:
In fact, it's probably a good idea to do a Data/Cache wipe BEFORE flashing the default ROM as well, just to be really sure you have nothing left over from your crashed upgrade/nandroid restore.
Cheers and good luck!
Did you not make a Nandroid backup of your own before starting?

Even if he did, it's not much good to him if he can't boot the phone, and so can't get into the Clockwork recovery to restore it

Oops...
Saw the 'boot loop' bit, managed to miss the bit about not being able to get into recovery.
@theOP: are you sure you can't get into recovery?
When I tried to flash an Éclair ROM over a non-downgradeable Froyo ROM, I could still get into recovery, so I'm a bit surprised you can't.
Hi to all, I am new into this and need some help
I admit it, I am a noob
So, this is my phone state.
I have rooted my HTC Desire with Revolutionary and I have ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0. on it. I had official Gingerbeard update before I rooted my phone.
My problem is that I can't install any roms. The only one that works is CyanogenMod 7, and I wish to use other rom. I can't install official roms from my computer too, because of custom is currently installed (I think that is the reason).
Everything looks good when I try to flash roms. Wiping cash & factory reset is going well, then I select install .zip from SD, that goes well too. I wait some time and it says that flashing was successful.
Problem starts when the phone should load rom. It goes up to HTC animation, and then the animation is constantly repeating, and it won't load rom. I made a huge mistake when I forgot to make Gingerbeard nandroid backup, and now the only thing I can run is CyanogenMod.
Any help is welcome

go to mounts and storage and format everythign apart from sdcard. then flash again.
That finally solved my problem
Thank you very, very much
Rooted and flashed rom. now when I reboot, it keeps boot looping. I went back to stock, still boot looping. any ideas?
Try flashing the newest radio. I think I read somewhere on here that older radios were causing a boot loop on some of the newer sense roms, although I'm not sure why it's still happening after going back to stock. I'm assuming you wiped data/cache before installing these? Anyway, try flashing the latest radio, worth a shot.

Yep, run revolutionary again. Once you start it, revo will say something like "what do you think you're doing you're already s-off blah blah" then it asks if you want to install CWM. Hit y and it will download to your phone/install.
Can I flash the newest radio without cwm? when I did the update, and had to activate my phone, it did the bootloop. not sure if i'm screwed at this point.
answered my own question. thanks all for your help!!
Hey guys,
I've currently got a HTC One X that is stuck in the bootloader. I have got Clockworks Flash Recovery 5.8.4.0 installed but haven't got any rom working. I was using Cyanogenmod until my screen started flickering and eventually it was unbearable so I tried to upgrade it. The newer version didn't support the older hboot (1.12) and therefore the update failed. I tried installing other roms from the forum but had no luck with any of them.
The steps i've been taking are basically flash the boot.img, wipe data/factory reset, install the zip, wipe the data/factory reset and dalvik cache and then reboot the phone but after all of these steps I end up stuck with a bootscreen of the rom i'm trying to install. I have followed tutorials word by word and I am still stuck on the bootloader. I'm really in a dead end here as I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to HTC, any help would be appreciated as all I want is my phone to be working!
Not sure if it's useful but..

If you make a factory reset after installing the custom rom in the recovery you actually wiped it again. Only perform a full wipe before the rom. Don't wipe anything after ......
Ow and you can't install any sense based JB roms. You need to update the hboot first
..
Thanks for the fast reply,
I've looked all over the forum and they all seem to be JB with Sense of some sort? Hate to be lazy but i've tried searching and can't find anything that would be compatible, would you be able to link me a rom that should work as i've got no clue.
Thanks,
Luke
Why don't you update the hboot and flash anything you like
This is a very useful thread for you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927048
It has everything you need to update the hboot
...
Will take a look and let you know how I get off, Thank you!
..
Problem is fixed after a whole day of trying. Got there in the end with a little assistance.
Thanks for your help

Good !
CASE CLOSED !
Hi, all. Just like the title says. I'm stuck in a bootloop and not sure what to do.
TWRP 2.5
Went from Docs deodexed T999L ROM to SlimBean 2.2
then...
I was making a backup of SlimBean 2.2 on TWRP 2.5 I believe and that went fine. I then went to do a factory reset but it gave me some kind of error that data wasn't found or was found. It was all confusing to me. So I decided to upgrade to the latest TWRP 2.6.3.1 from Doc's signature (I think that was it). I rebooted into the new TWRP and when I went to do a factory reset, it rebooted constantly. So I went into recovery again, and I was able to clear, dalvik, cache, and system, but freezes and reboots when trying to clear data.
Stupid me, I then flashed TWRP 2.5 again, and now I can't get into the recovery settings. It was show the blue TeamWin logo, but then reboots, shows the Galaxy S3 T999L logo, then the SlimBean boot screen, then reboots, repeating this over and over again.
So basically I have no working custom recovery, no operating system, but I can get into download mode.
Not exactly sure where to go from here. I rooted using the recovery method about a month or so ago. Do you think I can just go through the root process and flash TWRP 2.6.3.1 from Odin?
Thanks in advance!
Edit:
A little bit more, I was running Stock 4.1.2 before the rooting process and never did the official 4.3 update.
Also, in Doc's T999L info thread, could I essentially just revert back to stock using Odin? Or will my non-wiped data be a problem?
Aha! Never mind, everyone. I looked more into it and reverted back to stock using Root66 in Doc's thread.
Anyway, hope this helps anyone in the future if you come across this.
Have a good holiday, yall!
Edit:
So good news bad news, I could finally boot into TWRP 6.2.3.1, but doing a factory reset I still got this: "error: opening data/lost+found"
So I ended up formatting the data. All is well now and that error doesn't show up anymore.
Hope this helps!
