Install this today on my rooted HTC Desire, running the official froyo sense rom.
Found after installing it didn't work, came up with error so clicked revert just in case, phone then restarted.
Uninstalled the app but have noticed all of my apps that are meant to have ads have none.
Does this mean it worked or does the official froyo sense rom come with a modified hosts files to stop ads anyway?
I have compared the hosts file on my phone with the one from the rom zip file and both are exactly the same.
Is there anyway to get the ads back without flashing the phone again?
Thanks.
Okay I am not rooted and had a previous swype. I updated to the 2.7 version and it always force closes. How do I update the lib file to make it work?

okay, i'm not sure what happened exactly, but i am guessing you were a beta tester, and updated to 3.70 ota while the beta was still installed.
i'm sorry, but until you root, you are stuck on the ota version
so to get the ota one working again, go to settings, applications, manage, all, swype, and hit uninstall. you should be force closing swype if a promt ever comes up regarding it (happened about 20 times in this process on my moms phone)
then reboot. you are now stuck on swype 2.7

Thank you both for your non-ignorant answers, I will now solve the problem
Hey guys, I heard a new version of swype came out today and I am having trouble installing it on my phone. I am running myns warm 2.2 which already comes with swype. Because of this I cant uninstall it to install the new version via the installer. The installer tells me to uncheck the check box next to swype but there is not one there. Do I have to change roms to get the new version of swype?
Today i tried switching to swype and it said you trial has ran out, i have version 2.15. So i was wondering what was the latest version.
http://swypeinc.com/ Go there and register the for the beta to get the latest version. Just follow the instructions.

In order to install a new version of Swype you need to remove the previous version. You may not be able to remove it by going to Settings>Applications>Manage>All Applications as the uninstall button may be greyed out. If you dont have it already get yourself root explorer from the Market (Assuming your phone is rooted) and you will need to remove the swype.apk from System>App and then go to http://www.swypeinc.com/ and sign up for the beta to download swype. I just had to do this the other day as I had the same issue you're having...
I have been using the version that came with our latest update.
I uninstalled it and trying to install the beta getting screen size not supported
This is for the LDE update. Ive got 6 apps that when trying to update from the market, it doesnt update and says package not signed properly.
The apps Im having problems with are:
Adobe flash player 11
Gmail
Google search
Google Shopper
Street View for Google maps
Youtube
I have tried disabling Lookout as well so it appears the error is coming from android. Im using Whitehawkx's [ROM][STOCK] Deodexed T989UVLDE [5.23.2011] off rootzwiki. I dont know if it matters but the market included in the ROM hasnt updated to PlayStore yet. I do not have it frozen.
Any ideas?
Exact same thing happened to me. I read somewhere to delete the apk from /system/apps with Root Explorer or the like and reinstall via the market. When I tried that with gmail, I just hit an error from the market about the update being incorrect. I ended up just going back to Tuesday.
