[Q] Bluetooth on CM7 - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I try to connect my bluetooth headset the phone never really does a search. I enable bluetooth and then click scan for devices but it never starts searching or anything. Had the same problem on CM6 but it works fine on Sense ROMS. I am using Kings #2 BFS kernel as well. Any ideas or suggestions?

Did you try with the stock kernel? (Just reflash the ROM to use the stock kernel)
If it works on the stock kernel your issue is with kings.

Do you happen to have a link for the stock kernel? Would you recommend I reflash the ROM after flashing the stock kernel or just flash the stock kernel and try it?

just reflash the kernel and you'll have the stock kernel back

[Q] Is it possible to undo a kernel once installed?

I'm using the stock Gingerbread "Leak" rom version 4.12.651.1 that was leaked recently and I played around with it at first. Took several pictures and videos and enjoyed getting back to having Sense on my phone.
I used Kernel Manager Lite to download and install the Netarchy Toastmod-cfs-havs-more-sbc kernel and at now everytime I open up the camera it shows a white screen and I can't take a picture or video anymore.
Is there a why to uninstall or undo this kernel without having to reflash my Evo? I'd like to go back to just the stock kernel i guess. I even tried to use the Kernal Manager Lite to download and install a different Netarchy Toastmod kernel but it wouldn't install it over a previous kernel and when I clicked on the kernel I already have installed it won't give me an option to uninstall it...
Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
Find the stock kernel for that ROM and flash in recovery after wiping cache and dalvik cache.I will try to find stock kernel for that ROM.
Yeah there's no way to undo once u flash a kernel.....may I make a suggestions for ya foe the future.....Ive been doing this for a while......flash the ROM and make a backup once yur all setup...this way u can tinker with the rom and kernels and themes and what not.......and if those tweaks don't work for ya......u got a backup of a fully stock rom......

Thanks guys for the awesome advice!
Reverepats, it's funny you said that because that's the first thing that I thought about after this happened and I'm still kicking myself for not backing it up before flashing the kernel LOL It'll be a lesson learned I guess
Ianmb, that would be AWESOME if someone had this. I'll keep looking for this too but if I have to I guess my only recourse would be to wipe it all and reflash all over again... /sigh
There is a post for a working kernel for that ROM on the second page if the ROM is the stock 4.xxx. Stock kernel 15 I think, can't upload file from my phone?
ianmb, thanks for looking but I can't find any stock kernel #15 out there. not even google can help me =/
So it's possible to reflash a kernel over an already installed kernel? If i find the stock kernel how do I go about installing it? Via recovery?
Forgive me if I'm wrong...but if you just reflashed the rom without wiping, I believe it would install the stock kernel that came with the rom

Yes you can flash a new kernel over an installed kernel...just wipe cache and dalvik prior to flashing

Question regarding the new 2.3 OTA kernal and rooted ZIP

So, there is Haus's thread which provides download links to the ROM, Kernel and Radios.
I am currently running Salvage Mod and a Tiamat kernel.
If I flash the 2.3 OTA ROM while still running the Tiamat kernel, will I run into issues?

No because after you flash you will no longer be running the Tiamat kernel you will be running the new stock HTC kernel. Flashing the ROM flashes the kernel as well.

Oh...
I was under the impression (based off the links provided in the other thread) that the ROM and kernel needed to be flashed separately.
Thanks for clarifying!!

Generally no I flashed it on my EVO and didn't flash any thing else. You might want to go back and take another look I will as well but that generally not the case they come with the kernel.
To flash back to sense you don't have to do anything special. You don't have to nandroid back to sense or anything like that. The only thing you have to do is clear user data, cache, and dalvik cache then flash. You don't need to restore anything first. I saw your other post. Also I'm fairly positive that the ROM has the kernel but if you want to be safe download the kernel as well and just stick it on your storage card just in case.
Remember clearing user data will wipe all of your apps and data.
The kernel is a modified one just incase you have the brightness bug still I think.
When I flashed the new mikg v1.0 i know I still did but I flashed that kernel and it fixed it but I never flashed one of the new stock ROMs cause of the 1.0 sense on it.

[Q] copying over a new kernel on stock

So, I've been using Odin to copy over kernels that I've installed. This doesn't sound like the proper way to install a new kernel over an old kernel. It can't be that easy right?
Is there some sort of method of preping the phone first? (wiping cache..delvik cache) Or not using Odin at all but CWM?
What is the difference between using CWM and Odin to "flash" a kernel?
I ask this because I've been having frequent LOS after going from stock kernel to mod kernel and then to a third mod kernel. I know the LOS isn't related to rooting your phone. But I'm seriously thinking of starting from scratch here, back to stock kernel, ROM, and unroot. The LOS is driving me crazy!
Currently running stock rom with EG30Plus+ 2.6.35.7.

Cannot get wifi to turn on on multiple ICS ROMS for R800x

I've been trying out multiple ICS ROMS for my R800x (FXP, AOKP, CM9, PlAyOPS and maybe something else, I've lost track) and I can only get the WiFi to turn on with PlAyOPS ROM. It's not a connection issue, I cannot actually get the WiFi to switch on, the slider is grayed out and it won't even slide over to the on position. I've tried the WiFi fix zips that are brought up on the ROM specific threads to no avail. I think I've tried every kernal/ROM/WiFi fix combination that I've come across. I'm currently using Keiran's 2.6.32.9 Darkforest kernal but I have also tried the FXP kernal and the LuPus v3 kernal.
The reason I'm not just sticking to the PlAy OPS ROM is that I use the bluetooth audio feature quite frequently in both my cars and it doesn't work correctly on PlAyOPS. I was able to get the bluetooth audio to work on FXP and, if I remember correctly CM9. I haven't tried bluetooth audio on AOKP yet. If I could get the WiFi to work on either of these ROMS I would be extremely happy.
I've been searching the internet and scouring this forum for a fix for my issue for nearly a month but I cannot find a solution for my specific problem. I greatly appreciate any assistance!

Back up data, flash back to stock rom, install kernel, wipe data, cache &dalvic cache in recovery mode, re-install CM9 with the included FXP kernel and that should be it.

ok. thanks. Just as a clarification to the first part of the original response, I am installing the original stock kernel after i flash back to the stock ROM?
well, i went back to stock, flashed the kernal, wiped all my data, flashed the FXP kernal then re-installed FXP with no luck. I tried flashing the wifi zips after than without success. i guess i'm stuck with what i have unless there's something else i could try.

What version of FXP are you using, and what are the wifi zips called that you're using?

i used FXP 132. I know it's not the latest but I'm sure that it was when I downloaded it a month ago. The zips were cleverly named wififix2, WiFi_FiX_LuPuSv3 and the other was CDMA_mega_fix_v2_by_Leraeniesh. The last one had a WiFi fix in it by Atarii or someone like that.
had the same problem on my play (GSM version) here is what i did. and im sure it will work for you. flash the latest FTF for your device (Baseband).
when done Put the CM 9 Kernal on the phone. Boot in to recovery. do a factory reset. flash the CM 9 reboot and you are good to go.

i've done that twice now. this has been extremely frustrating. i don't know why the wifi will work without fail on one ROM but not work at all on others.
just to make sure i'm doing this correctly. After I flash the original FTF am I flashing the CM9 kernel directly after that? Do I have to restore the original kernel at all?
Speaking of wifi problem I cant get wifi to work on GB tweaked running doomkernel V2.....odd.

i think you have to flash doomlords wifi modules in recovery. it's what worked for me when i was using that rom.

1 Flashed Everything back to original. using R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_Generic Baseband. (stock kernel too) using flashtool form here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351299
2 booted the phone.
3 shut down the phone
4 Flahs kernel provided with the rom.
5 Went to recovery. Ran a reset factory. clear cache, clear Dalvik, reset battery stats.
6 Flashed the rom. in this case FXP 135.

did this work? i have the latest PACman JB rom for the r800x and im using the lupus v5 kernel that came with it. for some reason all the other roms have working wifi except cyanogenmod based roms....... why is this?

Different roms, Different kernels, same reboot. What do?

I was on paranoid android, i flashed ak kernel and my Phone started to have sod and reboot without passing for the Google logo.
I dirty flashed pa again to come back to stock kernel, same reboot.
So i made a full wipe and flashed slim bean + ak kernel but the problem remains. Another full wipe and flashed only slim bean w/o a kernel. And again reboot.
I don't know What to do. The only thing is to flash stock image and root again but it's a bit annoying.
Someone has a better idea?

Try using AK's kernel revert (back to stock kernel.)
It works for some people and for others, it doesn't though. I also had reboot problems with AK so I don't use it anymore, and also it sucks that I had to revert to stock when it happens. Hope it works for you, goodluck man.
4.2.2 - http://d-h.st/R7y
4.2.1 - http://d-h.st/2w6
From AK's thread
I didn't use that "script" because i thaught it is needed only if you want to go back to stock kernel without reflashing the rom. If I reflash the rom the kernel will be overwritten, isn't it?
However now i'm no more with ak kernel so i don't think ak's kernel revert could do something.

Yes. The kernel id's overwritten whenever you flash a rom.
