Glitchy in call sound - HD2 Android NAND Development

*also posted in the winmo6.5 section. not sure if tis a radio FW /hardware/OS problem*
so i bought a HD2 from a buddy of mine, its a Tmobile leo1024
(im an ATT user)
I guess he switched to VZW and though it would be a good idea to change the radio on it (hes NOT very tech savy)
any who, he said the in call sounds was funky but at 40$ i couldn't refuse a new cell (currently tilt2)
so I bring it home, HSPL4, magldr, radio (2.14.50) and a nice fresh flash of android
everything is GREAT its faster then heck...
buddy brings his sim (tmo) over so they can AOT unlock the unit and in call sounds like a combination of Morse code and that transformers sound almost rapid beeps...
I've since tried a NEW android rom and radio 2.8.50
you'll have to excuse me, all from memory here....
any thoughts?

First of all, you are in the wrong section of the board. If you have questions like this, it needs to be in the Q&A section. Then you will have plenty of people helping you on this. Sounds like your are describing the robotic voice. Change the radio first off. Looks like you don't have the latest radio 2.15.50. You can find the radio files doing a search on XDA.
Moderator, could you please move this thread to the correct board? Thanks.

I've tried a few radios now...
I'll start one in the Q&A section..
ill see if i can delete this tread of if a mod wants to del this one for me...

fix: disable keypad dial tones
XDA search has been down for at least an hour now... see post date stamp

Glad to hear disabling the dial tone worked. You must have one of those builds like Gingerbread that almost requires you to do so. Again, if you have issues with the phone, I would update that radio eventually.

I'm not sure if updating the radio helps on the US Leo? I've tried the latest two radios to no avail. Still have robo voice on Hyperdroid and Cyanogenmod 7 ports.

things change fast around here. try reading new threads before post useless request to fix an old problem from march
If your going to daddy me at least leave me a toy.
Wow learn to read. The android n00b thread people are still having these issues. Maybe something has changed but I have seen it. I see two categories of haret users those who work (miracles people who usually are using nand and may have some enviromental difference over us regular sdcard-hare ppl)..
If you can fix my issue fix it, but don't tell me its fixed when nothing says that. Albeit a night of going through all the updates on the different builds may produce results no one has done that in that particular thread (2, or 3, which upon someone coming up and saying this easy has ended up giving up) both threads are a bit different. One was supposed to be look how easy it is , with a few nand resistant fools getting every thing but sound. You sir are a troll... !#@@! @!# @#[email protected][email protected]@!
Seriously if you want new people using android put out a haret build that works... Don't make us n00bs flash our customized **** so we can say oh thats broke, i need that...
sorry if my tone was incorrect. let me try again
The link you posted refers to something that is not a problem any more or was due to old hardware, ie the button physically wasnt working.
k_k successfully used haret to test his build when he was working on the gps. that was the beginning of june
are you trying to say that the link is to YOUR problem? i cannot tell from the post of only a link. it looks like reading through this thread that you got past that problem.
if you need help please list your problem with as much detail as possible so i or someone else can help you.
if you are trying to make a case for haret dev, you should post links or quote more recent attempts and problems
Thanks for the news
Cool. I'll search up on that and post to the threads that I've been going to. It's just email never comes across very personable. People who say to read the entire forum get on my nerves or to search when I have is annoying because sometimes they have read it in an area I haven't landed and it like a race run condition due to bad communication. If you see something try to link it, glad I have a user name to search off, but if you can pt a better thread I'll be happy. Either way when I find it, I'll try to boot again maybe in a week or so. I'll be very happy if it does indeed work now, we'll see.. As far as my posting relating to haret, yet you can regain control of your buttons but if you actually read all of the thread you'll see it doesn't get better than that, it then is a sound issue. Either way haret is broken, and my point is that poor user from march is still suffering now, and this time its sound. I suspected that haret became broken due to the development direction towards nand. I.e. whatif system.file is reffed somehow as (NAND0,0):/initrd.gz. I mean droid when from system.img's to partitions so something very generic could lead to both issues esspecially if a user A who can't hear in haret, can hear in a nand install using the same release? See the modules and stuff are going to be the same. I hope your not wasting my time with the k_k bit...

your first post was just as indirect. from that post i had no way of know you have been working on it. the specific link you post was probably not the best choice. with out direction from you i have no reason to go 2 links deep. not until you gave more description did i go into the xda thread where have been trying things.
it then is a sound issue.

yes there is still the sound issue. you could have gotten much better response if you had put something in the first post to indicate you specifically want the sound worked on.
sound it is.
its just more like a watch me thread for people who care about haret. i posted a bug on vogue-android.. but the drift it haret is broken. been broken. its bad right now. can we fix it? or is it fixed already. you mentioned K_K do you mean this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6852911 or do you mean kalt_kafee kernel are they same guy? where you saying dpad was fixed versus just sound. I guess I'm going to try his latest update kernel, unless you've seen a better thread. I've already got to goto bed. Maybe that's why the guy never came back on my own thread cause i sent him to a new kalt kernel hehehe..
sound working
Going through the list now. Thanks for the pointer. I'll will soon venture forward.
I got sound on an old androidinstall of unknown origin. it was freezing and unstable. I did not get sound ironically on VaniljEclair , the second install from the old android I also installed to system.img vs sdcard partition. trying warm
Aqtrans' CM-5.07 - nice and stable
warm eclair rls 1 - fast, worked great for a day then force closes all over
Incubus26Jc's SuperE beta 3 - still slow on kaiser
VaniljEclair 5.0.8 out! (not tested by me)
trying myn's warm donut then will try aqtrans'
you may have beaten the pepsi challenge.

[Q] Two quick questions about upgrading ROMS

Hey folks!
A friend gave me a hand getting DamageControl 3.5 on my EVO and I love it. I've been told that 3.6 has some new features so I'm going to upgrade to 3.6. I love all the info that's on this forum, but I've got a couple noob-ish questions, I'm afraid:
Somebody mentioned flashing radios/firmwares, where can I find those? Do I really need them?
Evidently in 3.6 there's new battery-saving features. Should I turn off SetCPU now? Are the two features mutually exclusive?
I like the idea of JuiceDefender, but how does the data-limiting feature work? If I launch the email app, will it turn on data or do I have to wait? Will I still get text messages if data is off?
Hmm, I suppose 3 questions
Thanks for your time!
EDIT: Hmmm, I appear to be in the wrong forum. My mistake... if a mod can fix that would be nice.

Unless you're have horrible signal, chances are you're fine the way it is. I believe there's a thread someone in this board (i think i saw it in the past few days) that was keeping track of the current radios, etc. I personally haven't upgraded my radios since i got mine in July.
Evidently in 3.6 there's new battery-saving features. Should I turn off SetCPU now? Are the two features mutually exclusive?
I haven't checked in on DC in awhile, but see if it says anything in the OP. If it's using Calkin's or Myn's ( i forget who ported it ) SetCPU will probably interfere & do more harm than good.
I like the idea of JuiceDefender, but how does the data-limiting feature work? If I launch the email app, will it turn on data or do I have to wait? Will I still get text messages if data is off?
Never used Defender, but i believe it changes how frequently data is poll-ed for. I would think if you choose to manually search for mail it will turn data back on for you. You will still get texts, but i believe MMS won't automatically be downloaded
Hmm, I suppose 3 questions
Thanks for your time!

Thanks for the quick response! I don't care about MMS, I don't think I've ever had a picture/etc sent to me via text in my life.
How do I tell if I'm using a port? I just grabbed the one off the android store.

[App] Pissed that VM didn't include FM radio in stock? Spirit FM Radio

Just a shoutout to those apk makers [Mike Reid] out there. Try Spirit FM Radio, an android market free download ($10 unlocker for best results). Packing it in my new rom. Nice.
Rob
Thanks insink71.
Saw your post long ago and didn't have anything to add at the time.
LOTS has changed and improved the last 4+ months, including support for stock, un-rooted devices.
I have one user now who has a problem with severe system slowdown when running my app in that mode (without SU). It may not happen when the earphone is not plugged in though.
I'd be interested to know if anyone else sees this problem. To get the same experience when rooted, deny SU to Spirit when it starts.
April 13 free version is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?g4d0at7b3nc3p1z
Thanks !
I can test this.

Still perfect sound.
On new phone, HTC unlocked but not rooted; dead stock.
Must be not plugging proper earphones in.. I've heard if the chord is too short it doesn't pich up as the antenna it should be ::shrug::
Ya want me to test free version too? I got unlocked and it picks up more stations than my car radio.. no lie.

Versions prior to the UI update seem fine, and now he's set Theme to Dark and it looks like the problem may be gone. I'm still wondering how that might be a problem though.
I just got a VM WFS primarily because it has FM radio. However, even after downloading the HTC widget I could not get it to work?
Do all VirginMobile WFS have FM radio? I'd purchase the lite version on Google Play but I'm not sure if it would work...
I tried the above link for the free version of this app but the file is no longer there.
Any ideas/thoughts?
Thanks,
Nick

lost sound on jelly bean rom

First a quick shout out to Albinoman who made the JB rom in question here (I'll put a link to it at the bottom of this post). He did an amazing job and I am thoroughly enjoying jelly bean goodness on my very old and abused incredible.
I should mention (if it helps someone figure out what happened) that the device has been torn apart by myself multiple times to solve two issues: (and for fun)
The first being the display was shattered and had to be replaced,
And the second being that the device had been laid down in something wet for over a week while not in my possession, covering the internal parts with said wet..ness.. (no idea what it was). A few days disassembled in rice fixed the wetness issue and it worked perfectly!
Now I fixed some other software issues it was having (lost root after a failed rom flash) and loaded cm6.1 onto the device, and then cm7.2, and then this JB rom.. in one afternoon....... (gets addicting after only one flash!!). It was doing fine all day with only issues with the camera and Google chrome until I went to mess with the sound settings and went to: settings/ sound/ volumes. When I tapped volumes it said, "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." All sound no longer works.. A battery pull, multiple restarts with setting changes, and finally a factory reset later and nothing has changed. Thanks for reading this much too long post. any ideas what I should do next?
As promised, here is a link to Albinoman's rom which I highly recommend checking out.

I'm still kicking myself over this.. I put the speaker in backwards.. yep.. now would be a good time to learn how to delete a thread..
btw, many devs, Albinoman included, would appreciate it if you ask questions that are related to their roms, on the rom's original post. just a heads up man.

Actually q&a is for questions of anything related to the device and the rom threads as I understand is supposed to be only for posts contributing to development of that project but you're right most devs including me like when issues/questions are in the ROM thread.
Hey I got an idea. Remove the 10 post rule to post in dev but not allow creating topics in dev until 40 or 50 posts.

Custom 7.0 ROM for the Galaxy s6 edge Plus!

This device may be a few years old, but its still great. Support for it has almost disappeared, but there are still people out there like me that are on this device that can't/won't upgrade for one reason or another. Sure, Superstock is a great ROM, but lollipop is outdated, and having the features of custom ROMS but on a newer base would be freaking great. I am right?
I may have missed them, but as far as I could find on XDA, I couldnt find any nougat custom ROMs for this device. I would super excited to petition for one of the awesome developers out there to make a new ROM, even if it might be the last for this phone. Or maybe there is one, and I have just been much to dense to see it. Let this thread be for all posts related to the development of a custom Nougat rom, or sharing of one that already exists. Thanks everyone for reading and participating!
EDIT: SM-G928T is the model number, just in case it isn't implied

Wow... no need to do that buddy..
I'll save you the headache, hassle and lynching..

Heads up, read thru the thread carefully, many of these ROMs will require the "T-Mobile audio fix" to get in call audio, that is if you have the T-Mobile variant (G928T). You can search for the fix..
We can run Note 5 ROMs too, check out the TMo N5 or the Int'l forums, like I mentioned, above.

Thanks for the response. I had no idea we could run international ROMs on variant devices. I am having the issue you mentioned, though, with the call audio. So far ive tried two roms, flashed the fix, without any change. Ideas as to how i might get that working?
There is a audio fix on the T mobile Galaxy Note 5 page, it worked for me using Dr Ketan's rom

I do know that theres a few different "audio fixes" available. Im thinking they differ bcuz of the Android version? Just a guess, but what I'll do, is, I'll use only Roms that another 928T user already reported their success using it. I dont want to waste my time and effort being the guinea pig and then, for it not to work. Usually, whomever confirmed compatibility, will also list anything thats needed additionally to get it running, like the audio fix, along with link(s) to get it. If it doesn't work, they'll usually state the issues they found. Someone else's issue with it, might not be relevant to another person so they may decide to run it.
The best way to do this is to simply go to the OP of the Rom thread, in the upper right corner, you'll see a "search" option/box, (depending on browser or app, might see 3 dots instead, its a drop down list) click on it and enter our phone model, "928T, 928-T" or "T-Mobile, Tmobile, TMO " I try to cover the different variations, others here use to identify the phone. Seems like the search function, searches only the exact characters, as entered in the box, doubting it can identify and include similar known ones, so rather be thorough and not miss something. It searches your entry only in that particular thread and lists the results.
If you're braver than I, and dont mind going where no other TMO'rs have gone before and found only the in call audio isnt working, then its likely, flashing the audio fix is all thats needed.
The best way to solve this is, again, with a simple search. This time I'd recommend, a broader search using Google's search engine, type "XDA T-Mobile audio fix," bcuz this will search all XDA forums, more importantly, both S6 E+ and N5, carrier and int'l forums all at once. Then just go down the list if results, making sure that youre in either of the 4 forums, above, locating the download. Last I checked there was 3 or so fixes available, this was many months ago though. Anyway, having more isnt a bad thing, less would mean needing to go back and finding the one you missed. Once you have them, flash each one seperately, in recovery, reboot, confirm whether you're issue is fixed or not. If not, then continue these steps till it works. Flashing the audio fix won't mess your phone up. No need to reset, clear cache or anything of the sort, between each audio fix, just flash only the audio fix and rebooting is necessary. If you want to be organized, you can cross reference the dates of each audio fix, with the current firmware available at the time. That way you can flash any Rom you desire and will already have the fix ready.
Wow, my apologies, talk about rambling on about nothing more than finding correct file, flash your device, confirm its fixed, if not then repeat till its fixed. If no fix is found then, Rom isnt compatible...
Sorry, one last thing, Im sure that you'll help many others like yourself, if you had minute to post your experience with whichever Rom(s), you chose.
For example, "Rom works great, needed this (link to audio fix) for in call audio on the TMO variant"
It seems like you're the first 928T to try the Rom you have so,
report your experience, posts are permanent, its there forever, for any curious new comers, you'd be their hero! It'd most def get a "thx" from me.. :good:

Found a few ROMs that work without fixes and run nougat. Khongloi's s8 port works and has some of the best features I've ever had on this phone, but is heavy on the battery. AndroidSword's NFuel XL runs fast and light, but doesn't have edge features. The original NFuel also has full support for 928T, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm also working on my own custom ROM now since every ROM I tried was missing something I wanted.

I've just finished cooking a second version of my custom rom. Haven't had any issues so far. It's Called TrueStockN.
Here's a list of ROMs I was able to get working for the G928T:
Khongloi's s8 Port
Nemesis s7 Port
N-Fuel
TrueStockN
These are just Nougat roms I that worked for me off the bat, no additional audio fix required. Of course, there may be more, but these are the ones I know of and have used extensively.
