[Q] Opening Flash Videos In Rock Player - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There is a website I go to that hosts flash videos...it's of the adult nature, but that's really not relevant...anyway, when using a previous ROM (Simply AOSP I believe) it would automatically open the video with an external app, which I set to use Rock Player. This was using the Dolphin HD browser, and I did no configuration/settings changes to get this to happen...in fact I found out about it by accident and was shocked it worked as it did.
Now I'm running ACS Frozen and it's back to "normal" where it'll play the video in the browser like it should...does anyone know what I'm talking about and how to get that working again?

[Q] Android Won't Auto-play mp4 files from Browser

I recently re-flashed my phone to a ROM I was running before however the functionality of one thing is not consistent. Before when I would click a file in the browser (an mp4 in this case) it would bring up the prompt to choose a video player. Now when clicking an mp4 file, android wants to save the file to the SD card and gives me no choice on playing it. I've tried setting a video player as default to play mp4's, this works in ES File Explorer when clicking on it however from both the Android stock browser as well as Dolphin Browser it only wants to save the file and never prompts to play it. Is there somewhere within the android OS I can choose file extensions I would like it to automatically play?
Edit: This shouldn't matter, but just in case, this is an Epic 4G running Legendary 2.2.
Thanks,
-Kosai
I'm having the same problem and it started a few days ago. I didn't reset the phone and to the best of my knowledge nothing has changed except for the save prompt. Any site with an mp4 will prompt to save the file instead of simply playing it. I have installed and reinstalled the browser with no luck. I also reset the browser features to default. Since it is also happening with the default browser I am suspecting something in the phone config.
My phone is Verizon Droid X2
What browser are you running?
Go to the market and make sure you have adobe flash player installed maybe that could help...also some roms don't play certain video codecs not sure if the one you are does or not but that might be the case

[Q] iphone-like web video experience?

Hi all, first question. I have switch from iphone and the Xperia Play is my first venture in to Android territory. One of the main things I liked to use my iphone for was watching web videos on Chinese sites like pptv.com, tudou.com, etc...
I am living in China and youtube is blocked here, otherwise I would use it for that too.
Anyways, I have noticed that watching videos using flash on these sites kinda stinks, there are flash ads in the way of the video, the buttons are extremely tiny, so going into full screen is a hassle, and to top it off the quality of the picture is choppier and jaggy.
On the iphone I just push the Play icon and a nice looking video pops up, full screen with simple controls and buttons that are big enough for my thumb.
I have tried using Boat Browser and Dolphin HD, and disabling flash, to see if the HTML5 version of the video will load instead, and have a more mobile friendly video experience, but when trying to load the video I either get a notification to install flash, or a "This video cannot be played" message.
Are there any apps or browsers that give a more iphone-like web video streaming experience on a Xperia Play?
oh if you need to know I have a stock (not rooted) Xperia Play R800i running Android 2.3.4, Kernal Version 2.6.32.9-perf build number 4.0.2.A.0.42
To go full screen just press the flash video for a couple of seconds. As for the tiny buttons, you'll have to get used to that :/
That's it?
Darn it. Just have to deal with flash, eh?
Although I enjoy all the things I can do with my new phone, it's kind of a bummer that I cannot tweak it to have that nice web video experience I had with my iPhone.

Try to use the Skyfire Browser.

That browser is interestingly different, to say the least. And sometimes it even skips those annoying ads that go with the flash videos on the sites I frequent. But it is a little buggy, and not really the iPhone-like experience I was hoping for.
IPhone integrates QuickTime media player with the browser to play video from these sites, correct?
I don't suppose there are combination of browser, media player and codecs I can use for a similar experience, is there?

Flash Video

Hello everyone. I'm on stock rooted FF18 one click rom and the thing that has always frustrated me more than anything on Android 4.0 was not being able to watch embedded flash video. I'm not sure if I'm the only one with this issue but I have found a fix. I still have flash player installed but I also download an app called Flash Player for Android which allows me to take flash videos on certain websites and view them in es file explores player rather than watching them through Adobe flash player. All it does is take the video I couldn't watch normally and automatically change the format on the webpage. Even if u don't experience this issue its still kinda cool to have different options to play videos. I don't know about u guys but it was really frustrating not being able to watch my favorite Pron categories the way I used to lol.

[Q] Poor Video and No Flash Player ability

My Tab Pro has poor quailty when playing some videos (not all) usually live streaming but some video playback. Lots of horizontal lines and overall bad quality. Its bad enough that I cant watch a movie. This wasn't always the case but started about a month ago. Also, I'm not able to view any website videos that use Adobe Flash Player, no matter if I'm on IE, Chrome, Dolphin, whatever. I checked with the website and my isp and they're both telling me it's my device that is the problem. I've only had this tablet for 8 months, how can this be???? Am I missing something?
You have to google adobe flash for 4.4 (don't have a link, sorry) . Then use dolphin browser and make sure is is set to appear as a desktop. This is the only browser I have found to work with Flash. Post back if you need more explicit instructions.

Yes, I found a YouTube video a few weeks ago that walked me through this process and it worked for awhile ...but then one day...poof....no longer worked...I hit the blogs and read that there was an update that came through that disabled something a having to do with disabling Adobe Flash Players that were downloaded manually??? I really don't understand, but it made sense that whoever had an android 4.4 and above could not use Abode Flash Player. My daughter just purchased a tablet and had the same exact experiences at the same time as me, so it seemed to be true. I'm just looking for an answer for my Galaxy Tab Pro.
Flash player is still working just fine for me in dolphin. Also as a flash browser Puffin browser works with all flash content ive come across with no trouble whatsoever.

[Q] Using multi-window mode with Netflix does not work...any tips?

When I use multi-window mode on my Galaxy S with Netflix and any other app, Netflix will pause when I use the other app. This is frustrating because I can't watch a show while checking Facebook, for example (which is the whole point of the multi-window feature). Is there a workaround for this? If not, can someone give me some practical applications for this feature? I've got some in mind, but I'm curious to see what others have used it for.
I have searched for a work around myself and unfortunatly even with root and with the far superior multitasking that TWDetox uses I have found no way to keep netflix playing while multitasked. I think this behavior is intentional from netflix so you don't "miss a moment" but yea it is annoying.
As for uses for the multitask I use it with almost every other video program and it works beautifully. Aside from that the usual use of looking something up while answering an email so I can easily copy and paste. Also using the open in annother app option on web videos lets most play in the built in video player that can be multitasked over any (yes any even without root) app. This makes watching a video while working on something else an easy experience. Add in a Upnp player type app that allows rendering to the player of your choice and even network attached storage videos can play overtop of any app.
