[Q] HDH slow after HTC-Lock screen - RHD 4.0 beta 2 - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I just flashed Revolution HD 4.0 beta 2
And everything is running smooth.
Only thing is when i unlock my phone after being idle for some time
The first like 5 a 10 sec my phone reacts really slow.
Iam running radio: 12.35d.60.140fP_26.06.03_M2
Anyone know why how i could fix this?
Regards,
Martijn

I had the same experience on both the betas. It just seemed laggy overall. Keep in mind that these are very early builds, and probably not great for everyday use.
I flashed back to CyanogenMod7 (I really don't like Sense anyway).

Sounds like the CPU isn't ramping up when screen unlocks. An easy problem to solve with a custom kernel and SetCPU but unfortunately there's none available for GB Beta ROMs yet. Saying that, it could be one of those things that's fixed by a simple reboot.
For the record, the radio has nothing to do with this

Alright thanks guys,
I guess i need to learn to live with its untill theres a new update available
or switch to an other rom.. ill see

Best Sense ROM atm?

Hi folks,
What do you consider to be the best, fastest, most stable, battery saving, whatever Sense ROM for the Desire atm and why?
Simple question, but there are so many GB 2.1 Sense + some 3.0 Sense etc. kinda ROM's out there that it might be interesting to see which one is clearly XDA's favourite and why. What is the difference between all these ROM's and why do you use the one you flashed?
Any answers/input is highly appreciated
Feel free to discuss...
There is no best rom at all. It depends on personal preferences. Just test.
Oh great another best Rom thread to add to the other 100 already made.....
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I will recommend AcesMod007, it's very fast, stable with good battery
i would thoroughly recommend insertcoin,
i have been running it for the last few weeks/month and so far i am very happy with it,
the only problem seems to be 720p video recording lag and also it stretches videos in portrait mode but they come out ok when played on pc,
apart from that i get no lag at all when using the phone, battery isnt as bad as people say and the sense 2.1/3.0 mix is rather sexy,
all taht said i would also recommend to try out a couple of roms, just remember to take a nandroid backup and revert back to a previous one if/when you wish,
Mine is surely not the best. But you can give a look: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1210178
I am on AcesMod007 (not 3d) and am also constantly searching for fastest sense rom (but must be very stable).
Previous rom was rcmix 2.0 - a GREAT rom, actually perfect for me, but I could always use less lag (esp. when scrolling), and that's why I am now trying AcesMod007.
I still cannot say it's much faster than rcmix, and it lags a little on the lock screen. On remix, lock screen never lagged (I use the normal - wallpaper one) Scrolling is much better, though.
To the future "Oh no, another best rom thread" remarks:
I like to read these threads and find them very informative. I am sure that many others do, too. Just don't join, read or reply if you don't like them. And roms are constantly evolving, especially for our beloved Desire! So a fresh start every now and then is really great imho.

Hi Sudkcoe,
I'm also on the .v32 of AcesMod007 (not 3d) and had the lag on the lockscreen too. Also had it in .v31
Today I tried the little update from PlayPetepp which pretty much eliminated the lag prob.
Check out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16641755&postcount=1485
If you look further in the main post it'll tell you where to copy the 3 files to.
Hope it help

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies so far. I am currently on LeeDoird GB 3.0.8.2 and I really like it. It is fast, stable and together with SetCPU and Juice Defender i get easily 3-4 days of juice out of my desire
However, no Sense 3.0 And not sure how long this version will still get updates cause Lee starts focusing on his HD port and other devices...
So thats why i thought a best Sense-ROM thread might be useful, especially because there's lots of movement/developments recently and lots of ROMs look pretty similar but are so different when you flash em: So keep the feedback coming
I am still looking for my perfect Sense-ROM ^^
LeeDroid 3.3.3 HD. I've just come from AcesMod007 (v29) and have seen battery life almost double, fantastic stability, no FC's or anything. I'll be sticking with this for some time methinks.
I'll definitely check out the HD Lee Droid sometime soon. However, reports vary from awesome to a little buggy so i am not sure what to think of it yet...
I have two friends who too were on Aces007 move to this and they confirm my findings, it's extremely stable and battery life is massively improved.

I had 3 days and 8 hours on battery and like 20% left. During these 3 days, as i already stated, i didn't use it a lot except for some calls, sms and the active email sync (once an hour). I even listened to music for 5 minutes...so believe it or not. Why should i bull**** here
If you use it normally (including surfing, readings newssfeeds, listening to music) i still get 2 days easily.
I have tried most sense Roms including insertcoin, acemod but I have found sense 1.9 ROMs the quickest and most stable.
Teppics Rom is very good but the best is leedroid 3.0.8.2 as it does not lag at all.
I'm on AceSMod007-3D atm. Its all works surprisingly well and there is very little lag when simply moving about the homescreen. There's been lag with some widgets apparently but i only use weather and mail and they both seem fine. Also don't use the system restore in it. i did after screwing up my contacts and it screwed up all the A2SD+ stuff, had to uninstall and re-install all my apps to free up space on my internal again.
I use Insert Coin at the moment after using CM7 for a while.
I have seen a good improvement in responsiveness and battery life, I get through the day most of the time, but battery could still be better.

touchwiz micro stutters

Hi guys I got my Rogers Galaxy S3 2 days ago (i747M). For the most part it is buttery smooth. But I notice that sometimes touchwiz has some micro stutters when moving between home screens. I also notice that while switching between home screens, before entering the home screen that has the Gmail widget, theres a quick minor stutter. Can anyone replicate this?
The way I did it was, first use the internet browser for a bit then go back to the home screen. After start moving between home screens and see if you have and stuttering before entering the home screen with the Gmail widget.
Is this a problem with the widget?
Extra information: I am on stock, un-rooted.
This is normal. I also experienced this with stock ROMs. Something that will help mitigate this issue is if you flash a custom ROM that has the scrolling cache disabled (such as Kyan ROM. There are others, but I know this one off the top of my head because I have personally used it). Though they do not go away fully even with the new ROM, the fluidity of the interface if greatly increased.
The only way that I know of to make this go totally away is to flash AOKP or CM10 as they have implemented project butter with great success.

This may be a bit off topic but, I know nightlies for CM10 are out.. But do you think we will get the stable version of it? I notice for CM9 we didn't get the stable version.. That kinda worries me a bit because I like cyanogenmod and the progress they made with CM10.

I wouldn't worry about it. We haven't gotten a stable version of CM9 yet because the Galaxy S3 came out after CM was well into its development cycle. Also, with the release of Jellybean source code, there isn't a huge incentive for the CM team to continue working on getting a "stable" build released (stable is in quotes because a lot of their nightlies are actually pretty stable). I have been running task and ktoonsez's AOKP for a while now and I have to say that their 8/20 version is quite superb. It offers much more customization that CM10 currently has and I would highly recommend it.
Yes I have this issue as well, I also am flashed on KyanRom, there isn't as much stutters, but they still happen here and there, even when I close an application, sometimes my widgets on the page it goes to look as though they've disappeared, but come back. I also experienced this while being unrooted. So far, don't know anything that can fix the issue to the fullest. I think lowering down on the amount of widgets on the home screen can help. But who doesn't love widgets?

Guess will have to wait till Jelly bean comes out. I'm sure project butter will get rid of 99% of lag and stuttering.

[Q] data roaming issue on Cool Droid v3 ROM

hi all
I finally decided to give some new life to my HTC Desire, rooted it, S-OFFed it as well and after long search for most suitable ROM for me, flashed Cool Droid v3 Bravo on it.
ROM looks great and works fine, but it has only one big issue (so far) - I cannot turn on data roaming, it is turned off by default and tweaked to stay that way. As a noob, obviously I cannot post this question in specific thread about that ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1279016 so I have to ask here:
is there any fix for it, an advice or procedure how to change the script (I figured out that it's just a line in build.prop file but it doesn't allows me to change it). I'm not scared to tinker with it as long as it's not too complicated and makes sense.
I need it because I live in Europe, travel a lot and I use national roaming very often.
Please if anyone can help me, because this issue is a dealbreaker for me with this ROM and I'd hate that.
Thanks in advance
PS: the screenshot shows how the setting stays no matter what option I choose
Install a rom that hasnt got a lot of Verizon stuff in it.
I would, if I can find fast, stable and reliable ROM, based on GB and preferably with Sense on it.
I'm not into flashing new ROM every few days and trying out every custom ROM out there, I just need my phone to work well within its capabilities as I travel a lot and use it for work.
I guess that this data roaming issue shouldn't be too complicated to solve, it's a piece of cake for every developer...

well, I flashed this rom and been testing it last few days. It has pretty much all that I need but I find it quite heavy on my device. Too many times it slows down, lags and freezes, especially when running games and apps that need syncing. Also, quite a lot FCs. Battery drain is also significant.
I'm not sure where exactly the problem is, it just gets stuck with black screen and only notification bar is visible.
Any advice where to look at? Might it be kernel, radio or CPU issue?
thanks
A tip for ya when flashing that rom. When u first install it from recovery and reboot, when it boots past bootanimation and gets to the lockring.... Leave it settle for 15-20 mins, dont unlock. Then after 15-20 mins unlock then reboot. Then no force close, sounds mad but its true. U could try a different kernal, Droidzone has a few good 1s for sense 3.5 roms and also in settings/RCMix tweaks, u can fix permissions there, try that, it sometimes fixes force close. Im using Aurora v6 special edition, its android 2.3.5 and sense 3 and not 1 problem so far, great rom infact. Saying that, Runnymede aio s.e is my personal favourite sense 3.5 and never had any problems with it, but letting it settle for 15-20 mins is a must.
About the radio.... What do u have? Lastest is recommended.

I followed that flashing procedure pretty much, I was gentle and easy going right after flashing it, not rushing anything, left it to settle (maybe not 20 mins) and rebooted it again. Actually, FCs are not such a big issue like freezing. Usually 1fc comes on 5 freezes. My radio is 5.11.05.27, I haven't touched it since rooting the phone with Revolutionary. I kinda hesitate to flash it, I don't want to brick my device because I'm not sure about the right procedure.
As my name says, I'm just an ordinary noob, not too experienced with all this.
thanks
Did u do a full wipe before flashing.

I did a full wipe, formatting and partitioning SD card from the scratch (fat32 partition included), 4ext is 1GB... I did all following developer's recommended procedure step by step. SD card is brand new SanDisk 8 GB, class 6.
It works well after reboot, but after a while, as soon as several apps are opened, it lags and hangs heavily, making the phone unusable.
I'm not sure does it matter, but I moved all movable apps to "phone storage", except those that have widgets that I use. Yet, the phone still freezes even when using non-movable apps.
I'd flash it again right now but I get messed up contacts list every time because not all my contacts are on google and I have 1000+ in total, so after every restore I get many duplicates and triplicates, so I'd really like a solution that doesn't include another flashing.
Here is a better tip. Don't use sense 3+ if you want reliability. I recommend cool bravo s, but change the kernel.

So your telling me that you have no fcs, no lags, especially when receiving a call, no battery drains? Do you use your phone? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I really want to know, because every sense 3+ rom I had wasn't 100%. Which rom are you using right now?

I'd like to stick with this rom.. I do have lags but not when receiving a call, that's why I suppose that I just have to do some detailed tweaking and that's where I need help as I'm not experienced with it. FCs are actually not so bad, pretty much the same as I had them on my stock froyo so I can live with that. Battery drain is there though, but I've been using the phone intensively since flashing RM AIO, trying to set it up.
Can maybe someone post here proper radio/kernel/CPU settings please?
My device is amoled version, with 5.11.05.27 radio and 2.6.35.10 [email protected] #11 kernel
CPU settings are untouched after flashing the rom, so they are "default".
thanks

Phone Lagging

Hi,
Since the last couple of months my phone has started lagging a fair bit. Whenever I open any application be it messages, what's app, camera the phone takes alteast 3-4 seconds before opening the application. Previously I thought it was an issue with the battery but I got myself a new battery but the problem still persists. I've tried changing ROM's but to no avail.
Currently I am using : King Cobra DHD Sense 4.1
Kernel: 3.0.76-HD-Kernel
Radio: 12.65.60.29U_26_14.04.28_M
Sorry to somewhat hijack but I'm having a similar problem.
I've noticed similar lag, but especially when downloading apps, updating etc... Basically I assume writes to the internal memory slow things down quite a bit.
Are you having this same problem or is it an all-around lag? A solution I've heard of is to turn ON USB-debugging in the developer options, hope this helps for you.

OK door it's not a big problem... It is just happens because u r using sense 4.1 try to use its original or other aosp (simple without sense ROM) or you can try jelly time rom it is quite stable ROM. Any Sense 4.1 is not fully functional rom. And just remember you're new rom will take some hours to stable.

Just about to install that

Should I reinstall the original ROM?

I'm really frustrated with my Desire, I been tested differents ROMS in two years, not because I needed new features, but because I only wanted a modern and functionally UI like the one of Android 4.0+, but everytime I got thousands of bugs...not a single ROM was bugfree with the Camera, Videos never really worked and so on.
I can't really stand more this situation, I just want a bugfree OS... should I come back to the Original Sense (sigh...) ROM?

Try mildwild's redux v14 ROM. It's kitkat themed.
It seems a nice ROM, but I'm afraid to do again the same error: install a ROM and then found so many bugs that make everything an awful experience.
I'm pessimistic but I would give a try.
Right now I got the Cyanogenmod (doens't receive an update since months...) and I need to wipe everything. But this time I got problems to get into the Recovery Mode (tested with volume-down button and power button but doesn't work)...how can I do that?

Try power down+ back button, then select bootloader, then recovery.
Mildwild redux v14 doesn't have any known major bugs. Try it, trust me.
The first impression is good, the reaction time is another world in comparison to the Cyanogenmod.
However, I just found a first big problem: I can't log to my Google Account, it puts automatically the @googlemail.com (even if mine is @gmail.com)...I tried to force it with [email protected] and only username + password (double checked) but I still doens't found it correct.

+1 to abaaaabbbb63 suggestion. Besides, MildWild has an Oxygen based ROM which is very light in resources consumption. MildWild 5.0.
Good luck.
I have been tested the ROM for all this time, and I'm really disappointed... the first impression was good, but after some experience I'm again frustraded with the Smartphone. Auch with Mildwild there are all the type of Problems: bugs, screen not responding, error messages, impossibility to answer some call and so and so on...
The everyday use is still a bad experience that I would like to avoid. There's no hope to find a REAL stable Rom or I should really come back to the original from HTC? In this case, what should I expect?
up
The lack of response saids it all really. I've been using Mildwild-14 for a month or so and its by far the most stable rom for me.
If you want everything to work you should learn how to cook a rom because you seem not so satisfied about any roms. If you had no problems with the original rom by no means go back to it..
I'm sure original roms have more bugs than custom ones so good luck choosing.

MildWild is by far one of the most stable roms you can find for a Desire. I did have a Desire for almost 3years and had this ROM and had absolutely no problems with it.
Sounds like a cliché but make sure you wipe completely everything before installing anything new. Yes there are times when your phone just "jacks off" and it's for absolutely no reason, Desire is a senior, and no longer n.1 smartphone. You got to remember this. If you are experiencing this on a daily basis with many roms and you are totally sure it's not your fault, then it's just your phone. It got old... get rid of it or get used it cheers !
btw. my Desire is still working !
Thanks for all your answers.
Yes, I have done the complete wipe before install any type of ROM, but everytime I got some kind of problems.
I can remember that with the original Sense ROM I didn't got all those type of bugs...but right now I wondering if the new apps still works with the old Android OS. Someone use the Desire with the original ROM right now?
GB AOSP ROMs are generally the most stable for the Desire, so those based on Oxygen rarely if ever had stability issues for me.
Are you using a partition with these ROMs, and how did you create it? Should be done with gparted or 4EXT recovery only (not minitool)
MildWild 14 vs. MildWild 5.0
I have tried every MildWild ROM since I don't remember when.
Recently, I gave MW 14 a try, and it went mostly ok. Only problem? After a while (3 or 4 days), the calls became muted. I mean: I was able to hear the caller, but he/she wasn't able to hear me. A reboot would temporarily fix the problem, but not knowing whether you will be able to answer your next call or not is not something I could stand.
So I went back to MW 5.0. It is sort of an attractor, for me. Every now and then, just for the sake of injecting some innovation into my old desire's veins, I switch to some other ROM. But I always, invariable, after only some days, keep returning to the oxygen-based MW. It is, in my experience, the most stable ROM ever for my device, not to mention that it's very light in resource consumption.
So, MattSid, if you haven't tried MW 5.0, and if you have the patience to try one more ROM, try it.
On the other hand, I believe yours can simply be a perceptual issue. When I buy some new device, I always see it shining, wonderful. Marvelous. Magic. And that memory sticks to my brain, so nothing can compare to it. But if I, trying to be objective and true to myself, compare that to new developments, age shows up. Try you original Sense-based ROM. Perhaps you won't find it as beautiful this time as you recall?
