I recently updated my DesireHD to the stock firmware 2.2.1, it seemed to break the GPS, even though it was an official update, one of my friends has one too with the old firm ware can someone please provide me with a link to the 2.2 stock firmware or or instructions on how to export his firmware so I can reflash mine with the stock firmware and restore my GPS.
TIA
DaThunder,
You need to downgrade. Have a look in the Developer section for the guide.
I would post a link but I'm mobile.

Can I get stock Froyo rom on Telus Desire ?
I have already rooted 2.1 that's on it, if that makes a difference.
I have no interest in running a custom rom since the stock (2.2) one has everything I need...
I'm also wondering the same thing actually.
I've been looking into upgrading to this ROM, since it's claimed to be 'stock':
[ROM] Rooted Official HTC Android 2.2 (FroYo) ROM [Market issue fixed]
It won't let me post a link, but its in the Desire Android Development page
I think that's the one I found but it said you have to wipe...
I just want to upgrade and keep my existing data

I answered my own question.
Modaco (where I'm also premium) has more information on the subject... I rooted a week or so ago and modaco has the stock Froyo with radio and already rooted rom.
So I just downloaded that and applied update, I didn't even wipe before since I didn't want to lose my data.
Anyways problem solved.
also just picked up the desire , on rogers and was hoping to upgrade to 2.2, I had the hero before and it was a little more clear cut back then, but Im not sure to wait for official or just root and get stuff started,
NEed HELP

Hi All,
I have finally after a couple of years decided to move away from the Apple iPhone and buy an Android handset. As such I bought the Desire HD which I absolutely love however I wanted to debrand it using the latest software.
What I did was use the Goldcard technique to Downgrade my phone. I did this succesfully and debranded my phone, however what I realised was that I am now running a older (debranded) software.
Can anyone please assist me by providing with me some steps so that I can flash my phone again with the latest stock HTC Desire HD rom (debranded - is there a link?) or a very stable new ROM? I wouldnt mind version 2.3 if its available... I'm with Vodafone Australia and this is a Vodafone handset.
I have been told that the Goldcard method isn't the best way to do it? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Please excuse my questions as I am very new and not very good with Linux. I am very technically minded so I can pick things up quickly but I need some guidance as I have no idea about half the stuff people talk about here....
If you want stock Desire HD rom, you can flash back the RUU (2.2 Froyo). If you like 2.3 Gingerbread, you can try Cyanogen Mod 7 custom rom.
But for the most stable & battery efficient , you can try android revolution hd rom, leedroid, core droid rom.
You can view the list of rom (and also step-by-step to flash it) at the development thread located here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
I used this guide to downgrade my Desire HD. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 - This debranded my phone which is what I wanted however I also realise it is not the latest build. Is this what you are you referring too when you say RUU 2.2 Froyo Rom?
If not, do you have a link to the one you are referring too?
That page you just linked to was for people who had the 1.72blahblah firmware, but wanted to downgrade to 1.32blahblah in order to root their phones.
The official firmware can be found on this page:
http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Ace
...and the latest available firmware is this:
RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed.exe
thanks for that, now how do I flash this? I assume the same way I did it before?
With the stock RUU exes, you don't put them on your phone and flash via Clockwork (or whatever) like you do with custom ROMs. You run the exe from your PC with the phone connected via USB and HTC Sync.
There is a comprehensive guide somewhere on this site.
Hello,
I am on CM 7.2 and wish to downgrade to 2.2.
I am German and need the German Stock Rom. If anybody could help me with downgrading and finding the right bootloader I would be very thankful.
Hi, if you want to go down, just flash stock 2.2 with Odin.
You can download the package here:http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31
Flashing instrucktions http://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/05/procedure-how-to-flash-updateupgrade.html
EDIT: Make sure you DL the european version. It has german language.
Thank you. I tried it some time ago and my Gio bricked because of the wrong bootloader? Whatever this is what they said to me. But now I am not quite sure which 2.2.1 Rom I should pick.
Can you tell me which one is best?
I think it's because its one packaged. Is there a Froyo Rom that isn't one packaged?
If its one package, tick the ''one package option in Odin and just select your file in one package slot.
I dont think that One package ROM would brick your phone easier than Multi package one.
I would take S5660XXKC6 Rom since its latest Froyo (2.2) for Gio
If you bricked earlier, it may be wrong ROM for your device.
Ah I got it. Thank you.
I just downgraded my Gio from CM 7.2 to official 2.3.6. It was one package and didn't brick my set. Just follow the procedure and you're good to go.
Hello,
Could you give me more details on the procedure? Btw, where did you find the link for the official 2.3.6?
Thanks
Hey! I've been spending hours reverting my rom to stock and doing my OTAs to get to lollipop.
My phone is a Bell M8 with S-ON. I am currently up to 4.4.4 and about to do the Lollipop update. I am aware I should do sunshine on 4.4.3 but am broke right now so was just thinking of waiting until it works on Lollipop.
That being said, the current Bell OTA for Lollipop is version 4.20.666.1 (awesome numbers btw) and most roms say I need firmware 4.16.x.x.
My question is, will those roms work properly on this firmware? Or should I go back to 4.4.3 and use sunshine (I am impatient and want lollipop now, but stock roms suck.)
Thanks for the help!
edit: I found this advice in a rom thread
In future Rom releases, you may stick with your region’s firmware as long as that firmware is from the current released base, such as 5.0.1, 5.0.2, etc.
Firmware flashing is not required for every Rom update. Most of the time it is best to remain on your phone’s native firmware for best signal reception, battery life, and overall performance.

So does that mean as long as the rom is the same version 5.0.x that I should be fine?
Ya you should be fine tuning that firmware with the Rom... Can I ask you to also please upload the ota for us ...I've been looking for it all around

Where do I find it I haven't update yet.. I'd you can tell me where it is located I can extract and upload it.
I have a TWRP backup of it. Would that work or probably not since the firmware isn't there.
So one of my friends gave me this device on Honeycomb 3.2.1. I scoured these forums for links to ICS stock ROMs and found one that has a build number of "Acer_AV041_A100_1.014.00_WW_GEN1" I installed it and tried to run an OTA update just to find out they took their servers down. I was wondering if someone could supply me with the latest stock ROM I could install if there's a later one.
Thanks in advance!
