Basically when i was running 2.2 my dl speed on 4g was 14 mbps... Now I've switched to cm7 nightly and im only getting 2.6 mbps.. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?? I thank you guys in advance !!!
Well you can try to gps on a sense rom and flash back, but do be patient, 4G was recently integrated, and the version isn't final yet.
Well yea that true but i also noticed that there are people that are getting 12 mbps.. I'm just wondering..
Some people have better strength in the area with CM7, also They could be getting it at an"optimal" time.

find it impossible that you were getting 14 down on a sense rom when sprint caps it at 10...

So many of you that flash CM7 have had this problem- 4G works great, till you lose reception. Then, if you don't restart your phone, you're stuck with your notification bar showing the 4G and 3G icons and no ability to really reconnect to 4G. Is there any workaround for this? I'm on RC4 and still having this issue. I love the look and feel of CM7, but having to constantly reboot to maintain a smooth transition between 3G and 4G is why I've been running VaelPak for my daily ROM.
Halp
First of all welcome. And Ive read people using switchpro widget to switch with success . Try it out.
Might give that a shot then. Any other good GB ROMs with 4G enabled? I really love how it looks, but if SwitchPro doesn't help, I'm going back to VaelPak. Love the stability on there.

All GB Rome are aosp so 4g will be kinda iffy, unlike sense which is stable so keep that in mind.
that's what I was afraid of.. I just really like GB. Wish Sprint would hurry up and let us have the official version for Evo :/

Rumors say a few weeks but keyword here RUMORS
Wow, this phone has issues or do i just have bad luck? Im on my 2nd replacement from verizon.... all the phones they sent me had really terrible purple tints on the screen as well as constant 4g drops. The reason im trying to replace my first phone is because it drops 4g as well. I spoke with tier 2 support today and he said that there will be an update to fix this issue. Im having difficulty believing this because each GNex is running on the same exact software and only some of the phones are having this issue. If it was truly a software issue wouldnt it be much more widespread? I dont quite understand this. Does any1 here have a Gnex that has functional 4g? Do I have the ****tiest luck or something? Does any1 actually believe that this update will fix the 4g issue?
Take things into your own hand and flash a ROM on Android 4.0.4 (the update that operator was talking about).

I am running Liquidsmooth and have 4.0.4 radios and still have the constant 4g drops. Trust me.. i've flashed many roms to no avail. Im assuming the update they are rolling out is different from the standard 4.0.4 AOSP.

I noticed on all CM9/AOKP based roms on the T989, my 4G data isn't as fast. By comparison on stock and Darkside roms, My speed tests are consistently double-digit download (10-14 kbps) and around 3kbps upload. But on CM9/AOKP based roms, I don't get above 5 kbps down, and 2 kbps up. These are the typical speeds I would be getting on an HSPA+ 21 phone.
Do we have any information on why this is? Do CM9/AOKP not support HSPA+ 42? Is there a script I can run to improve this?
Thank you in advance.
I noticed the the same thing. On tw ics I normally get 8-18mbps. Aokp and cm9 5-8mbps but good enough
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
I have had sporadic success getting 13 mbps by flashing the le1 radio included with darkside. For the most part though i cant use cm9/aokp for this reason, no one really knows why to my understanding.
I flashed one of the Tellus radios and it's working very well for me. Running AOKP

I agree-I have the same issue. I'm on CM9 and love it but it's vever been as fast as the Dark Side roms.
lol but noooooooo everyone looooves CM roms because they don't have bugs, issues or anything
Try flashing one of the modems for the Darkside ROMs when you flash an AOKP or CM based rom?
That should do the trick. Probably is just a modem issue over anything else.

No it's not a modem issue. I've already tried all the Darkside modems and the issue is the same and consistent. I truly believe whatever makes HSPA+ 42 work on stock and darkside is not implemented on the CM9/AOKP roms, because the speeds I get are consistent with what people with Nexus phones in my area on T-Mobile get, and they only use HSPA+ 21.
I've gotten a best of 18.50Mbps down on AOKP.

Any particular radio/kernal combo?
just the 6/15 build, i didn't flash any other radio/kernel. now i'm on the 7/3 build and am getting about 10Mbps down inside my office building (which has pretty bad reception, the 18Mbps was inside a house).

Yea no joy with that, reg build without any radios fetches me 8 Mbps max in an area that i get 13 Mbps.
Yes, I noticed a slow down from GB to stock (debloated & rooted) ICS ROMs... But it seems like AOKP may be even a little slower than that.
I've seen some users post lines that you can replace in the build.prop file which they said gave them faster speeds on AOKP... but then people just stopped talking about them.
The user did say that the only way he could see a difference in speeds using the build.prop fix was to tether his phone to another device and do the speedtest on it... For some reason he was certain that speedtest.net was reporting lower numbers for AOKP ROMs, but the speed was still there... You'll have to go back and read the AOKP thread in the general section to find it.

I don't know about that I flashed UVLE1 radio from darkside and actually got speed test results of about 12 Mbps to 13 for a few hours. After about a half day of use it dropped back down to 8. Reflashed the radio and it still wouldn't go back up.

I've tried several speed tests, not just speedtest.net and I get the same consistent results of slower data speeds. As far as real-world results, I have seen problems streaming video on PLEX on 4G with CM9/AOKP roms that work just fine with Darkside. So it's not just an issue with speedtest. Something is different. Would love to have some input on this from Eugene or Yaldak or someone like that.

I'll most likely be testing it out tonight as well. Thanks for the feedback!
I'm on milestone 6 and I see no increase in data speeds from the past builds I still get 4-8 mbs as on dark site I would get 15-18 mbs

Just wanted to post a huge thanks on the jelly thunder port. I flashed this morning and have not had any issues that I can recall, or any FC's. Im on Telus, and LTE is working perfect. GPS is also working excellent, it took a little while longer to fix its position initially but it has been great since. I hate cluttering up the dev section. So for anyone wondering about the Jelly Thunder. So far its perfect. Excellent Port.

+1 on this..... This is the smoothest rom I have used to date, the eye candy makes it all the more better. :good: :good:
I agree with you all. The eye candy does make it even nicer that's for sure. The only thing else I would like to see is the stock samsung keyboard or at least get the symbols back.
Wait till this theme im making for this rom is finished..muhahaha
+1...I've been flashing a bunch...and this one works perfect.
Follow the directions...and Let the Thunder roll
Mac
Wish it had the stock icons
Love the rom. Great work. Im having issues with 4glte. At work I always have 4g lte speeds but with this rom it swiches from 3g to HSPA+ and 4G (When I have 4G it does to to lte speeds).
Is there a setting i can change?
As far as I remember reading it does the switch to conserve battery power. I live in a city and I get lte at work, but not at home. I don't think all towers support lte

Ohhhh weeee! I have only seen awsomeness and giggles when you tinker Wish777. Well except that time the phone became self aware and stalked you for a month. Still awsome! lol
Personally I think Jelly Thunder is the most stable - smoothest - Most complete and themed - simply the best ROM that Note 2 has had to date. In my opinion anyway - I have not seen or used a better rom since I got this phone - and I purchased it on Day 1 of the official release at ATT.
I personally like the ICONS - and as for SPEED - my LTE speeds are just as good with this ROM as they been with any other I have used. I flashed the Note2Core EX kernel - and it seems totally complete. Fast and smooth - Antutu benchmark scores consisttently around 195000. simply awesome.

H+ showing instead of LTE
I just flashed the JellyThunder Blackout rom to my Galaxy Note 2(i317 AT&T). Now it appears that I am getting H+ speeds instead of the LTE speeds I was getting 10 minutes ago before I flashed this rom. Does anyone have a solution to this? It will be much appreciated.
I would like to have to have just a normal Jelly Bean 4.1 or know 4.2.1 experience of my phone. I tried out the Pacman rom and CM10 rom. Both have the same issue. My 4g wimax speeds go from 10megs to 750kbps.
Is there something that I missing or is everyone just fine with horrible speeds? I even tried the temp boot and updated my PRL and such.
Is there anyone running a stock android 4.1 or 4.2.1 with 10 meg wimax speeds? or does this not exists.
currently im running TW jelly bean FL16 rom....perfect wimax. so its not JB.
~also which I found annoying was this was the same issue on my piece of crap evo3d. wimax would go from 10megs down to 750kbps on every ASOP, AKOP, CM9 and up.

Some have said that its because there is no kernel source for JB. So aosp roms don't have kernel source for the kernels they use.

No. It is working.
Tbh I never fully trust speedtest.net servers. For example.. I have 2 servers in columbus, oh and 1 in radnor,oh near me. Columbus servers are 50 miles closer to me than radnor ones. Still I always get 2-3 times faster results on radnor servers.
So in reality I have a faster throughput but I am misled by server caps. Now i know this is not the case because obviously on a tw rom you get much faster results.
What I am trying to say here is that when I am on 4g on non tw roms, 4g is much faster than 3g even though speedtests tells another story for me. 4g and 3g speedtests give me similar results. I also get faster tranafer rates when downloading files when on 4g.
So my guess always has been that on non tw jb roms, speedtests are not measured correctly.

i live in downtown Cincinnati with perfect 4g signal. Speedtest is one way to check. Another is by trying to download things.it took a couple mins to download speedtest. I mean its like being on 56k modem or something. So no 4g is not working correctly. it might be working, but at 1/12 of the speed its suppose to.
The source for aosp kernel was made from ics kernel source which apparently has a buggy 4g problem... That's why custom kernels also have throttled 4g. Hopefully after jb source drops somebody will make another kernel with the new source...

It's an issue with source built kernels. Nobody really knows why it happens hut it is what it is. Repacked kernels are where it is if you want 4g speeds to not be absymal.
