[Q] SLCD desire cant mount SD on recovery - Desire General

Hello people,
some things about me: i aint no expert,i am just the "follow the guide step by step" type of guy.
here goes with my problem,
I flashed oxygen v2.0 and my phone after a manual reboot crashed, i tried to boot but it stuck in the oxygen boot logo 4-5 times.
i opened the recovery (clockwork mod-alpharev 2.5.1.8) and wiped everything out (system-data-dalvik cache-ext partition)also formated the whole sd to fat32.
then when i tried to reflash oxygen 1.0.4 my recovery says that it cant mount sd card.the actuall message i get is " E:cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)"
i have S-OFF and rooted of course, phone is also with oxygen HBOOT.
i tried with 2 diferent cards and with both of them i get the same message.
also both of them are working fine, tested on a laptop card reader.
is it a device HW problem or something that has to do with the wipes i mentioned i did before?
what can i do to bring it back to life??

What happens if you connect the usb? Might be a usb brick.

Hi,
when i connect it via usb i can see it in "my device manager" on my pc listed as "android USB devices - My HTC" (fastboot)
in boot loader i can see it listed as "Android phone - Android Bootloader interface"
when im in cwm-alpharev recovery i can see it as "other devices - Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM"
the problem is that i cant mount my sd in recovery to do a NAND restore
the only thing i can do right now is go to fastboot bootloader and cwm-alpharev recovery
any ideas?

Yes, follow the link I gave you.
Skip step one since your still rooted.

ok thanks but i am gonna need some more help,
in step 2 it sais to boot into fastboot and enter a command
enter it where?

Terminal or command prompt, make suer you have the sdk tools installed and can use fastboot. If you don't know what it is or how to get it working start here.

I LOVE YOU so much right now,
all i did is the 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' to restore SD functionality and then a nand restore.
my desire owns you his life,
thanks alot.

[Q] Desire doesn't boot after partition SD card if SD is left in

Hi
I am a noob on here so forgive me if this info is already out there, but search didn't show up with any info that could help.
Basically I was trying to install InsertCoin CM7/A2SD+ STABLE and on their wiki I found a guide for partitioning Sd cards using MiniTools Partition Wizard. Used that to partition SD card following the guide, worked fine, flashed InsertCoin and the phone was stuck on HTC bootscreen.
Tried flashing other ROMs but still wouldn't boot so I decided to plug in my phone and use the wizard to restore to wipe the partitions, but as soon as I did that, it showed up as (Bad Disk) on the wizard.
Now the PC won't recognise it and the phone won't boot with the SD plugged in. I managed to boot MIUI without the SD.
I was wondering if there is any way of finding out if the SD is bricked, and what could I do to fix it?
Many thanks
vladwt
Can u go to recovery if sdcard is in?
If u can, format it there
Thanks, I tried that already but recovery wasn't able to recognise it/format it.
In the end I found a friend who used diskpart to sort it out after which the phone was able to recognise it and recovery formatted it.
1.) Install android sdk:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html
2.) Boot phone into fastboot mode (start with pressed back and power button)
3.) Connect phone to computer
4.) Start windows terminal and navigate to tools-folder of android sdk
5.) Enter
Code:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
and then
Code:
fastboot reboot
No warranty for any damage!

[Q] I need help, am going in circles with all the pages on xda-ddev and other sites

Right, basically I think I have pretty much messed up my phone, yeah yeah I know what your all thinking, seen this before.. you most likely have, I have read all the pages and tried to search for people with similar problems to me to save asking the same thing again, however I keep finding answer's that take me back to another problem on my phone.
anyway long story short, my phone wont get past bootloader. i can still get to recovery, but that does not help much as i get about 1 minute before it restarts if i plug it into my pc when in this mode, unless i format the system.

Running ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
am able to format Boot, System, Data and Cache.
However when i try format SDcard i get the message
"E: Can't Mount /dev/block/mmcblk (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1)
(no such file or directory)
Error Mounting / SDcard/! "
I thought maybe trying to re-root my desire using unrevoked, if that would have been an option, with the latest Clockwork recovery, but it will not find my phone in fastboot. However after a few attempts of plugging in my phone ,AMDesire Recovery finds my phone and can get it to wipe the dalvic cache, sd:ext partition, create a partition, try to wipe sd:ext partition and it says "error : run 'wipe ext' via adb.
I thought at looking at the DeBricking page on here, but that seems a lot of code, and when trying to find the right downloads i to even enter all that code i have got myself a bit lost.
any help whatssoever, would be greatful,
also i apologise for this if it is in the wrong forum but as i am pretty much a new user, i am unable to post in many places.

I think you got a USB-BRICK problem.

This is very easy to solve i got it a lot of times
Here a link with the tutorial how to fix ithttp://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/309939/usb-brick-rickrolled-b0rked-fixed/
Done in a few minutes
PS: wanted to quote not to press the thanks button anyway
adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
error: device not found..
my device drivers are android bootloader interface.
only just noticed with the adb tools that i don't need to install java SE and about 200 more apps being uploaded from adk server... but still, now i cant get past this bit!
Fastboot
Like what the other replies said, this is, most likely, a USB brick.
Try this command in fastboot mode: "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
Search in the forums to set up ADB/fastboot properly in your PC.

In order to install Android SDK you need JRE. You do not have to install all the software available in SDK you have only to download the tools.

This reads to me like you have a corrupt Ext...did you attempt to flash any alignment.zip before this happened?? Every time I try to flash an alignment, I also get this error message...hence I don't bother anymore...
My suggestion is to remove your SD and place in a card reader, then format your Ext using GParted. When you boot to recovery again, all should be sweet.
Just a thought.
dont use any EXT partition at this stage.. format ur sd card with single FAT32 partition and then try
Thanks to all of you trying to help me, I think i may need to mention that my phone does not seem to be able to read any sd card, not just the one i was using, tried my 16 gb, 8 gb, and 4gb. same message comes up.
going to try gparted later, and also have another go at creating gold card (what driver should be on set for this to work, Androidbootloader or MY HTC ? )
hopefully by the end of tonight i will have a working phone .
Once again thanks for everybody's help, I will click all the Thanks bit later
Steve
this is an usb brick, you should install android sdk, go into cmd
1. type in cd C:/android-sdk-windows/tools atleast if you have it there
go into hboot, press fastboot and connect your phone to your pc, it should say fastboot usb. then enter fastboot enable etc..(this enables the sd card read ability) after that go to the link i gave you, flash the update.zip and ur usb brick is gone,
easy as that
this sounds too simple and i still am having problems, do i not need a gold card?
Command prompt and typing in the commands you say, i continue to get an error message saying deice not found, seriously, i bet i am doing one thing wrong.. that's too simple to notice?!?!
i've never heard that you need a goldcard for a usb brick, it may sound dumb but have you installed htc sync? if so uninstall it and i you haven't install and uninstall for the drivers, usually a usb brick is solved in 4-5min, so maybe you missed out something, because when i had my first usb-brick i entered adb shell-.- you just have to type the command in once
just tried same on my notebook, no htc sync installed , Still Says error : device not found. am guessing i am pretty much screwed.
not got my hopes up too high just yet, but i think it's actually looking up a bit now, conected to phone, typed in the commands given, it can read sd card, installed update.zip. now i dunno if i should go back to backup, or try install everything again,
Thanks so much guys

need to flash but phone not detecting SD card

Hi,
I needed to flash a ROM onto my phone (prev using leedroid), however as I was going about this process (after I had backed everything up using clockworkmod recovery, and begun wiping), the phone stopped detecting my SD card
this card had been working fine for well over a year before. now error in recovery is something like E: unable to mount xxxx
it is detected using SD card reader on computer, and I have tried re-partitioning it to no avail
now the phone can boot into recovery and also the rom, but the SD card isnt detected in either, and neither now is the SIM card.
normally I would search extensively for a solution myself before posting, but I have done as much as I can, in my current situation I have no WIFI, only an internet dongle with very slow connection.
currently I assume that there is a problem with the radio but I have not had experience flashing this without using SD card in recovery
also, due to the risks involved with flashing radio, I would prefer to try to flash a new rom first, but again I have no experience flashing a new rom without SD card in recovery.
I have adb installed on my computer but not much experience using it.
Sorry for all this, but I am not the kind of guy who flashes roms regularly, the last time I did it was a while ago, and cant really remember how I rooted in the first place (I think I used unrevoked) - therefore uncertain of S-off status - although not sure what the significance of this is
please help i dont know what to do
thanks
This is what you need to do (instructions I wrote for myself in case I ever broke it again) :-
To gain access to SD card:
Put phone into fastboot mode (back button + power)
In CMD, go to dir C:\Android\android-sdk\Tools
Type: path C:\Android\android-sdk\Platform-tools)
Input "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0"
You'll need the Android SDK and once installed (along with the updated USB drivers that are available in the updates it finds) I discovered that 'Fastboot' was in a different directory to ADB so attempting to run Fastboot failed as it couldn't find ADB. My cure was to create a path to the ADB directory (as listed above). Be sure to change the path and directories to wherever you install them.
Alternatively (and far easier) search for 'Android Flasher' which is available on these forums. This has fastboot and adb installed in the same directory and is a much, much smaller download and run the above command from a CMD prompt from the directory that fastboot and adb reside in wherever you install Android Flasher to. I've never tried it this way but no reason why it shouldn't work and far easier than getting the whole SDK thing!
Yep confirmed, Android Flasher will do it. A quick search should find the program, it's a very small download compared to downloading the Android-SDK (and the Java runtime module it requires). Simply change directory in CMD to c:\your android flasher dir\data directory and run that command from there with the phone plugged in and running fastboot, fixed.
Here you go :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638&highlight=android+flasher
Ignore the S-Off bit, that's to do with the functions of the flasher itself, we're not actually using that.
thanks so much guys, that sorted the problem right out (used AndroidFlasher)
after reflashing the ROM, the problems with the SIM went away, so no need to flash new radio!
Guys same problem here
I backed up, I changed my sd card to an 32gb, restored but then i had the "Can’t mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1" problem
I solved the problem with your solution (fastboot oem enableqxdm 0) then full wipe then reinstall rom
But now windows can't see my device. On my phone there is no popup menu to ask me what do i want to do when i connect the usb plug
Also, in recovery, i choose mount USB storage but windows dont see my ds card (4gb or 32gb cards)
What is the problem?
ps
when i connect to windows, device driver installation says: device driver software was not successfully installed.
It also listes "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM No driver found" 3 times
Check if it's working with another sd card.

I'm afraid you have what is known as a USB brick, the fact that it asks for the Qualcomm drivers confirms it. Do a search on the forum, there is a fix for it.
Ah here it is :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639

Thanks
I've given you a 'thanks' also for replying to mine. It's a bad road to go down with the USB brick but it's something that everyone playing with rom's should experience as it educates you so much when things go wrong!
Glad you sorted it m8.

Possible USB Brick?

Hello all,
I earlier tried to get the darktremor scripts to work but it seems to killed my phone. So I decided to try and re-install my ROM (RCMix 2.0) but whenever I attempted to install the zip it kept coming up with error in sdcard/rom.zip (status 0).
So I then thought it might be a problem with the SD card so I've tried to reformat it again. I removed the partitions using the rm 1 and rm2 functions in the adb shell, which worked successfully. However, I then tried to re-create the partitions but it just kept coming up with "Killed" and rebooted my phone every time. I've reformatted the Sd card as Fat32 on my PC but now when I try to access the phone within recovery mode in device manager it is down as Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM
If I just plug in the USB cable when on the bootloader menu it comes up under device manager as "Android Phone / Android Bootloader Interface", and when I do it using fastboot it is down as "Android USB Devices / My HTC". However, when I try to use adb shell command (which worked at first) it just says device not found, but I have just used the fastboot oem boot command and it does come up with information about the device!
I've had a look at this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639 but when it says to get the CID my CID is listed as #INFOCID is super CID; so I don't think I can use that method?Or do I have to unroot before I can use this method and if so then how do I do that? Unless it is a totally different issue!

EDIT: Also, it appears that .dm files ar ebeing placed on the sd card? i.e. qxdm_20111010_141406_1.dm
EDIT 2: I've managed to get a stock ROM installed on so I can now boot up the phone. Unfortunately if I plug the USB cable in I'm unable to choose anything other than charge, even HTC Sync won't work. If I go into SD & phone storage though it does recognise my SD card.
Should I assume the lack of responses means my phone is beyond help? :-(

download RMD Recovery and use the usb brick fix function. Easy
there's a link in my guide. Look under Flashing custom recovery or resources

[Q] P^ rooting problems

Hi,
I hope you can help as i am close to throwing this out the window.
I have a chinese market p6, i believe the build is 118, and i have rooted using SRS 1 click. I am trying to install TWRP so that i can install the KK4.4 custom ROM.
The phone is in chinese and i have managed to navigate to turn on developer options and USB debugging
So, in ADB services my device is recognised, when i type 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' it says 'waiting for device' and nothing happens.
incidently, SRS 1 does allow me to boot into recovery mode, but when i navigate to upload from sd card, it tells me the sd card isn't recognised.
The other thing i dont get, is when i get the device into fastboot/bootloader mode, how do i then install TWRP?
Its starting to frustrate the life out of me, any help is greatly appreciated.
