I know this is a rom specific post but I do not have the 10 posts needed to put it in the correct forum.
I cannot sync my gmail contacts from my phone to my account. They will sync down from gmail to the phone but not up. I have read other posts regarding this matter and the solution was to choose "gmail contact". Well, in Revolution 2.2/2.3 there is no such choice. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem?
Gratuitous post but I need to get my 10 so I can put this question in its place.
When you hit add new contact, you don't get a choice of
[email protected]
google
or
Phone only, unsynced
You can also do this manually if you have a lot of unsynced contacts. press menu when in the contacts app and export all your contacts to your SD card, then hook up your USB cable and move the file to your PC, you can use GMAIL on your PC to import your whole phonebook. If you have a couple numbers not synced the way described by g00s3y is the best but if you have a large amount of unsynced contacts it can be tedious and this way may be faster.
Feeling stupid now. It's only day 9 or 10 with this phone. I had been addicted to the iphone for the past 3.5 years and rehab has been a bit awkward.
Yes, there is a xxxx.gmail option that I was unaware of.
Because...........
Got tired of the iphone and att (less bars in more places). Hell I jailbroke it the first week I had it but because apple kept it so locked down modifying it became a chore. Got the dinc for free switching to verizon. I have to admit that I spent the first day disappointed with it. Rooted it on day 3 and haven't looked back since. Sure its only been a week and a half and I have turned it into a paper weight several times but I always learn at least 3 or 4 new things a day about the phone. I have come to love the droid and realize the possibilities right now are endless.
Now if I can find a working Gingerbread keyboard with spell check I will be all set. Hardest part is re-teaching myself to switch #'s / letters with my right hand. I see that gingerbread has put it on the left.
Thank you for putting up with my stupidity!
Flash incredibly re-engineered. It has gingerbread keyboard with predictive text.

Its all good, I was going to say, if that option didn't come up, then there is a problem.

When I finally decided to upgrade my HTC Tilt to the new Tilt 2, never tought all the problems that this will bring.
The first unit was purchased on 2.14.10 at ATT local store. Two weeks later I decided to change the unit because of the many problems encounter.
It's been now two more weeks and this new phone is worst than the first one. I have to do a soft reset at least two times a day. Taskmanager is often gone from my Today screen or any other application.
I have installed a couple of software found around here, but decided to installed all of them to check if the were the problem. They were not.
Yesterday, I finally decided to do a hard reset and start from scratch without any installed software, other that the bloatware included from att.
The problems persist. The phone keeps stalling/freezing over any application. The emails are not being pulled from gmail, hotmail or yahoo (I have 6 configured emails).
What do you guys recommend for this. Doing another hard reset right now it's no easy task since I have to reconfigure all emails, lose SMS, etc.
I was very anxious to get my hands on this phone but it's been a nightmare from day one. My first Tilt was more stable by far.
Thanks for any suggestions, I just have to get this out of me.
It could be any number of things causing your problems.
I myself was very disappointed with my Rhodium when I got it. Was slow, glitchy.
After alot of reading and researching, I found it was most likely due to memory leakage. And that most devices come with a modified/branded ROM from the service provider.
I found that flashing a stock HTC/cooked ROM solved most of the issues. And using an app called 'cleanRAM' freed up alot of memory.
If you dont mind losing your warranty, then I suggest flashing a newer/better ROM. And using cleanRAM to free up any leaked memory instead of a soft reset each time
First things first, install SSK dynamic proxy CAB, Nopushinternet CAB, and AT&T tilt2 speed fix.
My first month of owning TP2 I felt very similar, having to reset every couple days. Now my phone only gets reset when I remove the battery or run out of battery (its been on for about 2 weeks now). CleanRAM is a great utility, but I suggest purchasing SSK Tools for its other great programs (autoclean, registry editor, task manager, program manager...basically this thing is great for tweaking your phone.
I would suggest reading around on the forums, looking at all the stickies, and searching for other users who have the same issues as you. This phone is a great phone, but like you have come to realize, it really needs to be tweaked for its full potential to be released.
Thanks for the suggestions!
ATT just confirm that my phone qualify for a replacement. Mine have a small square white sticker in the battery compartment. This seems to be the key of identify units with problems. I got the feeling that the next new unit is going to suffer the same problems.
I'm willing to work it out and tweak my tilt 2.
Only for a minute I consider to go for the BB bold 9700 but it's not even close.
Definately this forum was key when deciding to upgrade to my tilt 2.
Keep up the good work!

All phones have the white sticker. It is how AT&T makes sure your phone has not been water damaged. It turns pink when exposed to water. You most likely aren't experiencing an issue that is specific to your phone.
All Tilt2s are horribly slow and people here just don't want to admit it. It is using the SAME processor as your original tilt, just only clocked at 528MHz instead of 400MHz but it has to drive a much higher resolution screen. Also, either WM6.5 or HTCs implementation of it on the Tilt2 is crap. It wastes memory like no other. I haven't used other WM6.5 phones so I don't know which it is.
I really like my Tilt2's appearance and absolutely love its keyboard but I hate the hardware in it. The crappyness of the OS (either due to 6.5 itself or HTCs implementation) does not help either.
I actually just found a REALLY good deal on a Telus Motorola Milestone on eBay, just $475 after Bing Cashback! I ordered it and can't wait to get it! It has a worse keyboard but its processor is a bit better and Android has surpassed WM.

That Motorola looks good!
Well, after your recomendations and some extra browsing around here, I decided to hard reset my Tilt 2 again and start from scratch. I have installed all the recommend software and only have one freeze up today while updating the Stocks.
Ram usage is at 55-60% most of the times.
I have also decided not to exchange my phone again, ATT was offering a refurbished unit and mine is new.
I'll stick with for now with the Win 6.5 Rom, maybe there's an update or patch coming up.
I have develop extra patience since using my Acer Aspire One with Intel Atom processor, this thing also get really slow at times...
I stumbled on to this site looking at phones on ebay. Great find. I see that some of the threads indicate that some end users have been able to replace the ROM and OS on there Tilt 2 WINMO phones with Android and other fixes to make this incredibly slow freezing phone a respectable Smart Phone. I have been a WINMO user for over eight years and have never owned a bigger slower piece since my original brick phone. Have had it replaced twice and now am going to switch to the new Android offering from At&t. But if I can make this better phone I am all about it. I know I sound like a total rook but some help would be appreciated.

sure you can replace WM with Android, but remember its not a fully operational OS because its a port, so i hope you can live with no sound, bluetooth and no camera....battery could be an issue but with the latest builds its been a HUGE improvement ever since the project started, and also to have a MicroSD card in hand to make Android work, but keep in mind the speeds are not going to be like Windows Mobile since it runs off of a MicroSD, but if you really up for it and you want to speed up your Tilt 2 if youre on WM, i recommend flashing a ROM just be sure to HARDSPL before you do

Cool so Android is out on the Tilt. I noticed what you have done with your tilt 2. Even though I am Computer savy I would like to do something somewhat easy for the first time out. Thanks for the help I will check out the info you gave me and hopefully get it done right.
I keep reading posts about what a POS the Tilt 2/TP2 is and I'm baffled because mine just doesn't seem to fit that description. Mind you, it's no speed demon, but it does all I ask of it with ease. And I've yet to have it freeze up requiring a physical reset. I hard reset it once, but that was because I installed some stuff that wasn't designed for it. I've modded the heck out of mine and gotten the eye candy (of which there's a ton to choose from) where I like it. Yesterday, I impressed some friends when I quickly got some restaurant info from Bing on my phone and then did a quick Skyfire search on some rock band to settle a bet. This is not my first WinMo device, but it certainly is the best so far.
brother I wish mine was all that. I got my first htc tilt2 in Jan this year. Did alot of research and did not find a whole lot to worry about. Got the phone and was happy for about the first month was up. The internet is slow, constantly freezes, when switching to keyboard the darn thing goes three ways from sunday and locks up. I have actually seen static like on my tv. So I went to the local At&T device support center and the dough head told me its windows you will have to learn to deal with it being a hunk of junk. On my second one signal sucks still slow as hell and locks up all the time. Have had to reset (hard) numerous times. Not gona get rid of them, however gona check out some of the mods and see how it goes. The HTC is also not my first WINMO originally started with the orginal Black Jack and dont look forward to the droid conversion. But Will check it out and Hopefully mod this one out with this site.
ok. i have had a tilt, fuze, and tilt 2 now through att over the past 22 months and i dont mean to sound like a man in a tinfoil hat but are they purposely killing our phones? follow me here... i had 2 devices on verizon in 2 years and they were completely stock and worked until the end of my contract, the only reason i had 2 was i broke the first and they replaced it with a newer one through the insurance program. i came to att for the tilt. for the first few months it was awesome, then it all went to crud.reloads wouldnt help. started warranty exchanging til i was blue in the face, about 5 devices, each replacement came back with the exact same problems the original one took months to develop. they swapped me for a fuze. same story, worked flawlessly for a couple months. even running hacked roms and registry edits... then it all went south. started the exchange game. 7 fuzes later they again offered me the one time upgrade for the second time.... alas the tilt 2. incredible phone... ran cooked roms and reg edits without a problem. all my apps never had any issues. then it all started. played the reload game.. nothing seemed to help. around the same time my girlfriends tilt 2 and her dads started with the exact same issues as mine and hers was stock, his was modded. coincidence? now. im playing the warranty exchange game again. and this time there have been 2 insurance phones thrown in the mix , 1 fell down a ladder, one didnt survive my frustration with att. 8 phones later. thursday i open a box with a brand new tilt 2. boot it up. load my minimal requirements to make me happy and out of the gate it has the same issues!!!!!! dropped call, screen orientation issues, lock up constantly, txt message issues, audio issues, bluetooth issues... you name it! its been upgraded to latest software. theres nothing left to tweak on it. att's advice to me was" you are eligible for an upgrade, u should switch to the iphone" im sorry but i have no use for that thing, this is their only current winmo buisness class phone with a keyboard for my fat fingers and it DOESNT WORK! internet is USELESS. is this their way of forcing us to upgrade or do i need to adjust my tin foil hat so the aliens cant read my mind? dont wanna sound like a nut but somethings up. my new non refurbished replacement should be here monday or tuesday. i don't even know if its worth opening the box. this has me ready to pull the plug on att and switch to evo.
Am I getting you right, 20 phones in 22 months?
All I can think is, EXTREMELY bad run on luck on phones. I got the original Tilt at launch and used it (2 years) until the Tilt2 launched, and have had that handset since. Both work perfectly. In fact, I still use the old Tilt as a "backup" once in a while (loaned it to a co-worker a couple times this year when he needed a phone that would roam in Japan).

First off, let me start with. you should flash the new radio that is out, in my signature. Second. You should try a custom rom. as it makes this phone way worth it. The bluetooth. There is a cab out there, i will link it, that will help u with that, and also loudness of speaker, incalling, and your mic for outcalling.
These are not my cabs. i in no way take credit for them. i just found them.
My TP2 has been pissing me off lately too. Ive only had it for about 7 months, I dont have it loaded with apps, in fact there are only about 10 I use regularly and it is the stock ROM. I frequently have to do soft resets because it freezes, it takes forever to load apps, messages, just about anything takes 30 seconds or more sometimes.. when i use the retarded headphone attachment with a charger plugged in it when i play music it constantly goes to voice connect even when i have VC turned off. I recently got a free iPhone 3g cus my dad got the new i4 and I've been thinking about using it instead. If I can find comparable programs on the iphone like WMWiFiRouter and scilors groovemobile i will def. switch to the 3g.
I am on my 5th touch pro 2 from t-mobile, due to a power issue and the leaky screen. That said, after turning off manila (I hate that ****) and using a few today plugins, it works beautifully.
What really helped: overclocking it. I have it set up to be dynamic, so it clocks back when the screen is off, but good lord, did it make a difference. Using the phone, what used to be an exercise in patience is now quite enjoyable. Everything happens almost immediately, my battery still lasts me 1-2 days, and very little weirdness.
That said, I've always had the habit of just rebooting my phone whenever I plug it in to charge. No idea why, but I've never had any stability/functionality problems with my phones. They've just sometimes turned off when sliding them closed, hence the 5the phone.
Wow sounds like the gsm users are having a lot of issues lol. I'm still on my original tp2/sprint, going on 9 months now. Never had any major issues with it. Rarely do I drop a call. Have never upgraded radios. Hardware has all remained functional, and with an overclock this phone is great. Probably my favorite winmo device.

Alright, new phone is here. I will be reloading it tomorrow night. Lets see what happens.

I have had the G3 about 5 days now, after I had gotten my dream device, the Xperia Z3, and had several problems and bugs with it, sadly and reluctantly exchanged it for this one, because the S6 was on back-order, and Verizon would not let me wait to exchange the phone, as it would be about a month wait now...
My immediate issue is the LAG! I have had to uninstall 2 very beloved apps, because the G3 would sit on the loading screen forever and never do anything. I tried re-installing 3 times, no luck. This is my biggest issue so far.
Also, I am unhappy with the battery life. I have done most of the battery-saver settings, but because of bad eyesight I need the brightness turned up. I do watch videos but not too often, I don't really play games, I mostly just text, maybe make one call a day, and check FB for about half an hour a day. I have the screen off any other time, and my wifi is on so I can browse without using data. Which setting uses LESS battery, the 4G or the WiFi?
I am having another BIG frustration, trying to talk sense into my mother, who just got her first smartphone, the S4. She cannot remember the easiest tips and I show her over and over how to set the brightness, how to turn data on and off (she has no other internet, so she NEEDS this to keep up on FB and sell her trinkets online, but because she can't immediately gain the knowledge of how to set everything exactly how she wants, she's telling me she wants to switch BACK to her ancient DINOSAUR of a POS keyboard phone with NO DATA use on it, JUST calling and texting! She was literally paying $50 a month MORE for her POS 10-year-old phone that is literally going to crap out at any minute, and if she switches back, she can't use the Edge Plan from Verizon, so she will still be paying MORE to use a crap paperweight junk phone and have NO internet! She is driving me CRAZY!! Anyone know ANY way I can convince her to keep the S4???
Thanks!
Regarding the first part of your post. It would be useful if you let us know which device you got and which version of Android it is running.
I'm on the latest lollipop and i don't experience your problems.
Regarding battery life i do get full day with heavy usage and 2 full days with light use.
How many hours of screen in do you get?
For your mother. Just set the device once she will not change it. Clean the launcher and just keep the apps she use.

Good Day,
I have the the original HTC Incredible with Verizon. I am by no means a power user, big on downloading video or surfing the web on my phone (unless it is a semi-emergency). The problem is that some of the apps from my bank, local weather, AAA, etc. have been updating their apps. Some will not load at all and other I cannot use some of the new features of the new versions. Because I have the OS that is out of date.
I stopped in to a Verizon store an asked if I could get a OS update on my phone and of course they wanted to sell me a new phone. Said it was impossible to update the Incredible to a new OS. After a little reading on the forum, it may be so. But I am asking just the same, can my phone have the OS updated at least to a semi-new Android OS?
I like the size of the Incredible and every time they want to try and have me get a new phone I say "Sure, just get me one that is the same size as my Incredible or possibly smaller." That has stopped them all in there tracks. I do not want to carry around a tablet on my hip. And for a little as I use other applications I could almost go back to a flip phone, just kidding, well maybe.
Thank you for any suggestions or comments on my little situation. Have a great day.

So, the Droid incredible was my first android device, and sadly no. That thing is long past it's shelf life man. The fact that you're running on 3G only is a wonder and testament to you NOT using your phone. As you said, you really COULD go back to a flip phone. I can't imagine many apps still work on Gingerbread.
I'm sure if the device is rooted and s-off you can install some roms that were made for the device that take it as far as it can go. I just found mine in a drawer and my kid wants it for listening to music. I'm on hear just to see what Roms are out there if anyone is still using it.
