Hello, does anyone know if the there is a way to automatically set the ISO to 800 when selecting the video app because the only way you can take good videos (no lag) is opening the photo app, setting the ISO from auto to 800, selecting video then take the video. However, you then have to go back to the photo mode and reset the ISO to auto, otherwise the pictures will be to noisy. Please help me and other Desire users - as its a right pain !!!

Has anyone else noticed the file size for photos taken on the one x? My Photo's taken at full resolution are only coming in at circa 1.8mb - seems rather small often images at the same resolution we're double the size on my DHD.
I use Camera ZOOM FX, much better app than the stock, it also not as aggressive with compression in post processing.
P.S. Just did a quick test, photo taken in Camera Zoom FX (2.7mb) is twice the size of photo in stock camera app (1.4mb).

I think we lose the cool features of the stock app such as the burst mode and the recording video and taking pictures
You can also have more than one camera app. Stock for burst mode, one for taking lower compression photo and another for social media.
Edit: just tried burst mode in the camera zoom app, and it is faster the stock! You can take up to 32 photos in one burst around 8 sec!
It looks like the app uses video recording for the duration of the burst and process the photos afterword. It is an interesting way of doing burst mode.

Good point Or I can hope the DEVs can fix the high compression rate. Some Useful Data must be getting lost
Hello. Is it normal that there is lot of noise in photos taken with zoom, but only sometimes? Can you please take several same photos one by one in zoom 4x in low light conditions in auto mode? Do all images have the same amount of noise? Images from my phone sometimes are very noisy. They should look the same I think. Please take a look on below photos. There is big difference, but I don't see difference in photos taken without zoom. It looks like auto mode changes some settings very aggressively. :/

Anyone?
Well, you took low-light shots and zoomed. The zoom is only digital and won't do anything. It's better to leave zooming and enlarge the area of preference later by a photo-editing program at your PC or laptop.
Keep in mind: High ISO + zooming = Noisy pictures. Keep your ISO as low as possible and like I said: Avoid zooming - at least in darkened areas.

Ok, but some images taken in the same conditions are noisy and other are not. It looks like noise reduction doesn't work sometimes at all. Is noise reduction working also in manual mode? I have always noise in this mode (in auto only sometimes).
In some cases, even the best noise-reduction can't help. It only would result in a blurry image at the very end. Like I said: Keep ISO as low as possible & yes: In manual-mode, this value can be fixed. The phone itself sets the automo-iso for each image at other modes & maybe checks a darker spot sometimes. The result is a noisier image.

Does noise reduction work also in manual mode? I can't get good results in manual mode in lowlight, because there is lot of noise in each iso/shutter speed settings. It seems like noise reduction doesn't work in manual mode.

In auto, lg G4 will activate night mode in low light condition,,you can check there's no iso value in that shots.
@faizalotai: Do this by yourself and view your photo with any EXIF editor or viewer. You'll see, the phone for sure changes ISO values in every, except manual mode.

I figured out that around 1 from 10 photos is destroyed by noise. It doesn't has to be photo taken with zoom, but when I zoom in this photo there is lot of noise. Can you check yours G4?
I guess, I should link you to informations about sensors and ISO-values then . Get a look here: https://www.objc.io/issues/21-camera-and-photos/how-your-camera-works/
OK, I've been playing around with the camera in manual mode. And I've been having a problem. We all know how good the long exposure works while using the 30 second exposure shutter. But my problem is using the 1/6000 it seems you need an INSANE!!!!!! amount of light. Today is completely sunny outside so I took the pictures below. One with the shutter at 1/6000 with iso set at 50 and then the other at 1/6000 with the iso at 800 to be able to achieve what it "SHOULD LOOK LIKE BRIGHTNESS WISE" and as you might guess having the ISO set that high causes a lot of noise in the picture. I'd just like to take pictures of my kids as they're running around the yard without them looking like a garbled blur. But I lose all light if I put it on 1/6000 and I lose a lot of detail if I put the ISO up high enough. It also doesn't help that the exposure for some reason automatically locks when I change the shutter or iso. It's been years since I've used a DSLR "the original digital canon regel eos the first entry level DSLR" but I don't remember having these problems. Any ideas guys?
hi, i do not know if you came to this dilemma before but i have Oneplus 3 and a friend offered to swap phones... i was looking for a better camera... Oneplus 3 has a "thing" when shooting at moving objects and if you try to take a photo of your baby its impossible... almost every picture is blury.... how is the HTC 10 camera when you shoot moving objects? i am looking forward for your replies!!! thanks!!
every camera will blury when you take a moving objects unless you speed up the shutter speed, so it just depends on if you know how to use the camera with shutter priority/full manual.

Correct.
Try to shop Manual mode on Oneplus3, set shutter speed minimum 1/60 minimum (if indoor), depends the baby moving,
try to shot outdoor, you can set 1/500+, shot flash to baby eyes it NOT allowed (i forgot 3/5 years old is allowed, just search on google)
try to learn about Exposure in photography (iso, aperture, shutter speed) this will useful in life of photography.
i have oneplus3 for testing, is a great device. so swap to HTC10 will not resolve this issue, if you still using Auto. :fingers-crossed:
thank you very much guys!! it might be a software issue of the app... when in auto mode it selects wrong iso/exposure??? before OP3 i had a galaxy S6 and i used it always in auto mode with fine results... i will definetely try your advise!!
That's because Samsung camera app will detect the scene, if it found something moving fast then it will switch to "sport" mode(something like that, forget the actual name). For HTC 10 I dunno will it have similar function in auto mode, but the 10 official camera app really lack of function
Hello everyone,
》 You can use "4k video recording & click @25mP images in hdr mode" which isn't natively present in the stock camera, period, by using "Open Camera"
》Playstore Link : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera
》I saw a marginal improvement in highlights especially at the night time shooting where stock camera blows up the highlights almost all the times & the detail levels are also higher as the image is captured in @25mp mode with active HDR.
》There's no stabilization in 4k recording but i saw drastic Improvement in dynamic range, especially at night. The difference between the stock 1080p video & the 4k video from "Open Camera" is huge. Ofcourse the files sizes are also 4 times higher.
》The details are much higher in both the front & back camera with better dynamic range using "Open Camera" especially during daytime.
》I prefer the stock camera only to capture still images at night due to faster shutter speed & as A50 uses pixel binning in 3:4 hdr mode which helps to gather more light ofcourse. The images are comparable here, though in this situation only.
》》》 If you're going to record video at evening & night time, I highly recommend you using 4K option in the "Open Camera", trust me the difference in dynamic range especially at night is unbelievable.
》》》 Tip : Keep the scene optimizer on & use 3:4 hdr mode while shooting at Night on Galaxy A50 as it uses pixel binning & AI to get stable pictures & gather more light for a bright shot. Avoid wide angle lens at night.
》》》 Reply to this post if you want to see actual proofs else you can try it out yourself.
Here's 4k vs 1080p video sample link (uncompressed)

The more interesting thing is what the phone is actually capable, but isn't enabled in the stock camera. Maybe Samsung will optimise the camera in future updates.

Yes brother, exynos 9610 is infact capable of doing [email protected] as mentioned on their official website.
Also, Galaxy A50 has flagship grade imx 576 sensor :

I doubt that Samsung will add 4k in future updates.

Hi, everybody. I'm using an Open Camera that's unlocked, it will unlock the camera at 2API.1280x720 resolution, bitrate 200 mbbs.120 frames per second, but the video size is 398 megabytes in 18 seconds.
xda turns into a resource to read instead of humor. The man took and unlocked camera2api without even realizing what it was. On a rooted a50, it does not allow access, but he succeeded with a finger movement in the settings ...
help! what's the settings in open camera to make 4k video?

Nothing.
Change the resolution to 4k in Settings > Video Settings > Video resolution
You're good to go, Cheers.
