[Q] HTC Connection Setup on Omnia 7 - Windows Phone 7 General

Hi guys,
can anyone share with me how to make HTC Connection Setup app work on Samsung Omnia 7 to use the app to setup MMS, I have manage to install the app in Omnia 7 but it is not running because the device is not HTC…. I need your help..
This is my story:
I have WP7 Omnia 7 and i cannot send MMS because Samsung network profile is stupid and they don’t have any setting for any mobile operator in Saudi Arabia while HTC HD7 user here in Saudi Arabia are using MMS fine in any mobile operator..

i don't think that the htc app have the same system paths and values to change the network profile...
the last days samsung have updated the profile app, so at worst you have to wait until their will be another update of the profile app.

If you unlocked your phone, then you can just download the Samsung Tools, that will help you to set up MMS, remove the 10 unsign apps, prevent from re-locking, etc

i have tried all possible solution including samsung tool but still im not able, the only was is to use HTC connection setup to configure MMS on my mobile..

Well, delete your APNs and uninstall network profile and try it one more time.

i have the mms setting, can someone write a tool to fix it up in the mobile.

WORKING Blackberry Connect configurations

Hello All,
I believe there are many like me who would love to get the Blackberry Connect Software working on their HDs. At the moment, it seems like black magic how to get it working and the other thread doesn't really contain much useful information on working configurations.
So far, we know the following:
1. It is Radio, ROM and SIM card dependent.
2. You need to have the BB service provisioned on your SIM and have the new style SIMs that support full data functions.
3. Latest version of BB Connect required for TouchHD (4.0.0.106). This is available from HTC Asia on on the internet (just search these boards)
What i'd like to use this thread for is for people to post WORKING configurations with as many details as possible regarding the setup/installation procedure. I'll start with the only configuration I've managed to get working so far.
ROM: Dutty's 1.9b extreme
Radio: 1.12.25.16
SIM: Blackberry service from MTN
Installation/Procedure:
- Flash ROM
- Install BB Connect software
- Provision SIM card
- Connection was activated after a few hours.
Other information:
- The BB connect service defaults to IE as the browser.
- BB Push email service worked but with lag. SEVEN was much better in this regard.
- I was unable to get messenger, stock tabs, weather update, google maps, etc to use the BB connection
- BB push email service creates its own mail folders on your device regardless of what you already have.
- BB email folders do not have full flip to scroll to next message functionality in TF3D.
- BB email did not display pictures, etc
Please lets have other users chime in here and perhaps we can get a Wiki section created for BB Connect on the HD. Lets please keep to the same format as above to keep the information easily referenced and trackable.
Thanks
Thanks for the info, I have been able to run the service with all ROM's expect for the ones built on 6.5 OS's..
Connection was instant in each installation (right after a reset I am connected - then I'd push my service book -- done)
I do not have any lags in mail arrival.
Its satisfactory for me- but as you said you have to stop the BB service prior to any attempt to use the data connection for other purposes (IE, weather...etc)
Only thing I miss is the blackberry messenger.
Thanks for the thread.
Taiseer
Thanks for responding Taiseer.
Could you tell me what mobile operator and country you're using? Secondly, what do you mean by push your service books? Is than an automatic process or manually performed by you? In the installation that worked for me, I didn't do anything of the sort.
After installing did you have your BB sim in the phone or did you insert it later?

I am currently residing in Oman and its Omantel...
and normally what I do after the 1st installation and device reset, all of my mail arrives to a new mail account named system..(and I won't be able to send or reply to mail from it), so to be able to get the rest of my accounts and have a better use out of the service, I log on to the Operator's blackberry's site and manually demand a service book sending.. in few seconds mail arrive into auto formed mail accounts..
As far as the SIM card its always in the HD..
It looks like SEVEN may be better for me then, how does battery compare between the two.
Thanks for the information Taiseer. My provider does not offer the internet log on option so I guess I will need to get them to push the service books to me somehow. When I install the software with the sim in it, i get nothing after a soft reset. No pin and no ip address. Did you find that MS Live or any other microsoft service was able to use the BB connection or is it just the browser?

Seven has a good service and I've had no complaints. The BB data plan is the cheapest where I live though. So if you can get unlimited (or cheap) data packages, stick with SEVEN. I didn't notice any differences with battery life.

No - you got to stop data connection, but because I am used to my WIFI conection and hotspots everywhere I normally do not discounnect the BB connection, DO you??
Whilst my service worked I was too scared to disconnect the BB connection so I just didn't use any of the other services. It sucked. I've just flashed Davideuck's newest V 2 ROM so we'll see if i can get it working.
Okay, great news people. I've got my service working on Davideuck's Version 2 rom. It required a call to my network provider. For all those installing on a HD, its down to your provider regardless of what they say.
Taiseer, thanks for the heads up about the blackberry page for my subscriber. I managed to track mine down and set up my email accounts from there.
Woohah!
I am using a stock ROM 1.14.405.3(22273) WWE, Radio 1.09.25.15
I hate to have to use a cooked ROM, I've used Dutty's ROM's on my Kaiser and they worked well but this phone works so well I don't want to mess things up.
I believe the stock ROM should work as well. Be sure to hassle your service provider to set it up on their end. I think some providers are not pleased to offer the BB service for non BB phones and do not fully enable the service (they can tell that its not a BB phone from the PIN number). After a talk with my provider, I was told to reset my phone and presto! all was working.
It works on on my Kaiser so I know it works on my T-Mobile plan. I may mess with the radio's to see what I can do.
Sorry to keep adding to this thread but I have some new developments. I upgraded the ROM to 1.19.831.0 and Radio 1.09.25.14
I have version 106 and ran the desktop software, it switched the PIN from the Kaiser to the HD. I changed the version reset the device and now I have the service books and an IP address.
When I look at the status I get network available>data tunnel available then not connected.
Update, since it wasn't working I tried to reinstall BB Connect on the HD, when I tried to configure I got the PIN 0 error. As a last resort I put the SIM in the Kaiser and configured it, then switch to the HD, configured it and it worked!
I'm not sure but it looks like changing the PIN was all I needed to do.
blackberry working great on orange uk htc touch HD standard phone
I downloaded the blacberry install files form a link on this forum, I belive it was the same blackbery files from HTC.
Rom Version 1.19.61.1 wwe
Radio 1.09.25.14
Installed the BB app to phone - then went to start settings > system >" click" icon blackberry.
Blackerry connect (identity) tab shows 3 bits of info
PIN said something like waiting for PIN
IMEI 78*******************
IP Address No connection
Spoke to orange asked for blackberry service. they said 5 permonth £ 250MB of blackberry
Orange sent me text message with a pin number and told me of the orange blackberry site to go to I think it is blackberry.orange.co.uk
On the blackberry.orange.co.uk I enterd the PIN number from the text message and IMEI number.
My phone recived a text a turned it of and turned it back on.
Checked the Blackerry connect (identity) tab
PIN was now populated with the pin that was in the text message
IMIE still there
IP Address says connected.
Went back to the blackberry.co.uk setup my email accounts with blackberry the pressed service book. looked at my phone 20 mins later and my there email accounts were there 2 for work and 1 for home.
I dont do much surfing on the phone but opera works and and the blackberry is fantastic.
orange were very helpfull on this.
But saying that blackberry is really a network service Windows Live I belive does a similar thing you get push email.
I'm glad to see people are getting it sorted. There are certainly many other options for connectivity and push email. Some even work better than the BB service. The reason i'm on the BB service is that its the cheapest way to browse regularly and get push email in my part of the world. When a page can cost as much as 30 pence via gprs versus 20 pounds a month for unlimited data on the BB plan, its a no brainer. Yes, I'm painfully aware we're being gouged but theres no getting away from that.
I have a problem with blackberry connect...
Everything installed just fine, receiving message OK, BUT...I can't send mail because option new mail, reply on mail also, is disabled
Very strange, because I used earlier bb connect on diamond and everything worked...
Any solutions?

Its probably because you are only having the "system mail account" you should try to send your service books to your winmo via provider
Thank you very much - I'm tottaly forgot the way how to do that, working now!
Problems with BB connect on HTC HD
Hi guys,
after setting up successfully BBconnect on my HD, I noticed that when I send emails from my BES account on my laptop, I always find them in my Inbox (not in Sent Items as I would expect) of my HD reporting me as Sender and no body message in it. Instead, should I send emails from my handled device, I always find them in Sent Items of my device as expected....Has anyone of you faced the same issue?
Thanks...

Rhodium Email Problem

Hi Guys,
i tried to configure my Email settings on my TP2 (now unbranded HTC German Firmware Version 1.19.407.1 GER and Radio is 3.46.25.30).
So when i configured the settings from my web.de freemail account, and tested it, it worked for the first try, but when i tried it again, it always gives me a sync error.
I can choose between different Internet connections, but since i use a dataplan, i can choose between T-Mobile DE, and T-Mobile Internet.
The Problem goes for both connections, first call works fine, all other attempts give me a sync error....
Anybody got any solution to this problem?
Thanks in advance

HTC Touch Pro2 help needed --- Resolved

HTC Touch Pro2 help needed
Greetings everyone...
First of all, I would like to thank the developers and contributors here at xda-developers for making mobile life so easy and innovative for everyone..
I am here to discuss a problem that I am facing, which could be because I am not yet experienced with unlocking concept of locked mobiles..
Scenario :
I stay in INDIA and use IDEA cellular as my GSM network. Recently I bought a "HTC TOUCH PRO2" mobile from a dealer from Mumbai (Maharashtra) via Ebay.
The dealer said the phone was unlocked and shipped it to me.
It seems the phone was a US T-mobile locked phone earlier -- that is what I see from its appearance and logo of T-Mobile on screen.
I can insert by Indian SIM and use it to call and receive calls.. So, I believe the phone is defintely unlocked..
Now the problem :
1) I am facing issues to connect to internet using the GPRS services offered by my cellular network - which is IDEA.
2) I have made sure the settings for GPRS are configured properly in my phone.
3) I can browse websites using IE in the phone, but I cannot browse using the Opera browser in the phone ----- when using GPRS.
4) But when I connect the phone to my laptop using activesync, I can browse websites both in IE and Opera.
*** Please note the difference... Opera does not work with GPRS connectivity. IE works in all instances.
5) The instant messengers that are already installed in the phone (Gtalk, Yahoo, MSN) they do not connect no matter if I am connected via GPRS or ActiveSync.
Any idea why I am facing such connectivity issues with my HTC Touch Pro2 mobile?
Any help really appreciated.. Like I mentioned, I am a bit new to these things, so kindly bear with me if my questions sound illogical.
Some things you could try:
1. Install another version of Opera. You probably have Opera 9.7, then upgrade to Opera 10.
I use this one:http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=334007&d=1275104091
You can get more version in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5902175#post5902175
2. Go to Start, Settings, Connections, Connections. You'll probably see two kinds of connections, the one you setup and My Work Network. First select Manage existing connections on your configured connection, go to Proxy Settings tab and check if This Network Connects to the Internet is selected. Then go to Advanced tab, and see that the option Programs that automatically connect to the Internet... is on your configured network, and that Programs that automatically connect to a private network is set on My Work Network.
3. Go to your mail Inbox, press Menu, Tools, Options. Select your mail account and press Edit Account Setup. Keep pressing next until you see Outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Select Advanced Server Settings, and ckeck if Network connection is set to The Internet. If it is and email is still not working, try changing it to the connection you configured (however this might mess receiving email under wifi).
Thanks for getting back to me in this thread.. I really appreciate it...

-- I did try this.. I have tried installing Opera Mobile 10 (Touch) and Skyfire browsers. Both these browsers work fine when I try to access websites when connected via ActiveSync. However, they do not seem to connect to websites when I try from GPRS.
IE however works just fine in any case.

Yes, I have tried this as well and confirmed several times that the connections are setup as per your instructions. But it wont allow the inbuild chat applications (yahoo, gtalk, msn etc) to connect to internet.

I haven't tried this yet, however, will try it today..
What I believe is, applications on my handset are trying to access T-mobile internet settings everytime. Hence, they cannot connect. However, I have made sure that I have configure the connections as per the instructions in step 2 mentioned above.
The other thing you could do is install a custom rom, that will get rid of any T-mobile setting in your phone. Besides very likely fixing your problem, it will speed everything up and gain a lot of functionality. Check this thread before doing anything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
Some tips for you (but read the thread, don't skip it):
1. You have to figure out if your phone is pure GSM or CDMA-GSM. If its a Tmobile from USA its a GSM. The thread tells you how to identify each.
2. The phone has to be HardSPL, this is to unlock it so custom roms and radios can be installed. Has nothing to do with SIM-unlocking as far as I know.
3. Browse through the threads in the ROMs subforum. I use Energy's Rom, but maybe there is one that better suits you. If you go decide for Energy's, READ the first posts of the thread very carefully, especially the FAQ and explanation of different versions.
4. Flashing a ROM will delete everything from your phone. Contacts, appointments and tasks are backed up by Outlook through ActiveSync, if you want to preserve SMS try PIM Backup, its free and easy to find and use. It doesn't save MMS, those you'll have to save manually.

Bingo..... Installed the custom Energy ROM today and it has fixed almost 99.9% of the problem that I was facing.
The old original ROM was such a waste that I had started hating my HTC Touch Pro2. But installing Energy ROM has given a new life to my HTC TPII. Its just excellent..
I can now connect to internet with my service provider settings.. All applications working like a charm... Battery life seems to have improved.. The device is faster as compared to the old ROM... its just excellent..
There are a couple of issues I am facing with this Energy rom, however they are negligible and can be considered as minor errors.. Rest, the devise is working like a charm..
Connectivity issue same as above

[Q] Unable to send and receive MMS

I just recently purchased the Desire and the same night I rooted my phone with unrevoked. Since then I have been unable to send and receive MMS. Some of my coworkers who got new phones the same day and didn't touch them are able to receive MMS. My question is, do you think that this is because I rooted it, or chance it is a problem with my phone? If it is a problem with the phone, do I have to unroot it before bringing it in to my service provider or do you think they wouldn't notice?
Prob be something to do with the root. Just flash a stock Froyo rom and it should be alright. Just make sure you do a nandroid backup first just to be safe
I had the same issue with my Desire, but managed to fix it just yesterday.
Find the homepage for your provider and they normally have a guide for setting up MMS, which is, normally in the case of HTC Desire, automatic. But if you try see the manual set-up for non-supported phones and you enter those values/data, it's all gravy again
Sounds like a pretty common problem with small providers. I tried looking around and was unable to find any settings on the website...
Try see if you can Google it. I noticed that there are sites which are dedicated to collecting all the settings of different providers (definitely here in DK) and making them accessible in tables.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Man...I've been trying to find it but I can't....I have cellcom (usa-Wisconsin) maybe someone else can help me locate something.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Okay, I also tried seeing if I could find the settings for cellcom in the States and no luck: just Israel. Also not a very informative webpage for cellcom either.
If you don't want to unroot your phone etc. I would think contacting the company by mail and asking for the manual settings might pay off. I'm pretty sure this is the issue as mms and internet settings are automatically set-up for each phone model in some providers and rooting might have removed the settings from identifying it as an HTC Desire, though I have no way to be sure.
So you should receive a reply with the MMS proxy and port, the MMSC and APN.
It definitely worked for me.
Hope it all works out!
