Kaiser speed up tips&tricks - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

I'd like to know what you all do to speed up / tweak your kaiser.
Since I've found some of this tweaks spreaded all over the forum, with this thread I'd like to focus in one place our experience on everything we can do to speed up or improve the performance of your device in every aspect of it's functions like battery, ram, memory ecc; so people can access easily to these informations.
Tweaking apps: (download them from the market)
Roguetools: Powerful overclocking tools that applies overclock on the fly when kaiser wake up from sleep mode, reccomended oc range is between 490/520 Mhz, after this limit phone is much more instable (in my case)
Autokiller: it's not an app killer but a memory config changer, it speed up A LOT our phone.
Tips/tricks:
Enable JIT in the configuration panel: this will speed up a lil the phone.
Enable Force home in memory in the configuration panel: this solved all my white screen crashes since I've activated it.
Compcache: I've personally disabled it and noticed no differences i'd like to know your opinion about it...
If your touchscreen reset at every reboot follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946060
Overclock GPU in atools options: this will overclock your graphic chip and improve your 3d/2d openGL performance (mostly games but also all the UI)
Rom stability:
If you want a stable rom the first thing to do is put Data on ext2/ext4 sd card partition. NAND is near to have full and stable support, but until that time I suggest you to install data on sd partition and you will have a lot less corruptions (almost none) p.s.: your sd card need to be at least class 4!
Different radios give different results: First of all you need at least a 1.65 series radio rom; then, you need to find out wich radio is better for you.
This is the kaiser radio thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2210513&postcount=3.
There you will find all the radio available for your kaiser, different radios gives different benchmark results and different available memory on startup, personally I've found out that the best in my case is 1.65.21.18.
(benchmarks done with autokill disabled)
radio 1.65.17.56 : approx 24 mb ram free on startup, 33,3 fps with neocore 485 quadrant
radio 1.65.21.18 : approx 32 mb ram free on startup, 33,1 fps with neocore 470 quadrant
radio 1.70.19.09 : approx 36 mb ram free on startup, 22,4 fps with neocore 320 quadrant
That's all from my side... what about you ?

DATA in SD Card partition gave me horrible results. I have standard 2GB Kingston's MicroSD and almost every application gave me not responding error.
I can push upto 42MB of free ram on 1.70.19.09 and the trouble is I cant get any game to work, so I dont care about gaming FPS. P.S I need a good Autokiller, the one that assigns low mem to background tasks and more ram to mainstream processes, do let me know the one you are using. I use Advanced Task Manager (5.02 I think)

Maybe your sd card is slow, I have a class 4 kingston and I have no issue at all :/

Forget about that app and try autokiller (this is the name of the app) with aggressive mode, you will find it in market . It's not a task killer, it change ram configuration.

hmm
it is possible to connect to the Internet via USB or BT?like you would do with Windows Mobile Device Center?

Quoting [email protected]:
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Yes, if you root your phone, and you are happy to mess around editing the wireless config files to add an ad-hoc wireless connection. You can then turn on internet connection sharing on your desktop to turn your desktop's wireless connection into an ad-hoc WiFi access point. Once it's all set up you end up with a connection like this:
Phone -> Desktop's Wireless card -> Desktop Computer -> Desktop's wired connection -> Router -> Internet
You will need two network connections on your desktop to do this (typically a wireless and a wired, and have the wired connected to your router)
so. u can't do it trough usb anyway, only with wifi

Hi, what rom are you using?? With Dzo's i cant get more than 360 with quadrant! Do you have your sys in the NAND?

I'm using cyanogen 6.1 with sys on nand and data on sd card ext2 partition. Kernel is the ext2 version of clemsyn, autokiller set to optimum, cpu overclocked to 510 mhz.

@ TuoNonno
I tried CM 6.1 sys on NAND, data on SD ext2, Clemsyn post 63, autokiller set to agressive, OC to 570 mhz and got... 222 on quadrant!!! *Dissapointed mode on*

How does one go about doing all the "tips/tricks" that you have mentioned? plus.. i've just installed "Autokiller".. but i'm not sure what a safe memory limit is for the various options

try to downclock to approx 510, I think that ur oc is too high and generate too much errors

I can't understand the first part of your question... about autokiller you just need to select one of the settings that are preconfigured... I suggest you to not pass over aggressive mode.

Now my Kaiser is like this:
MODEL=KAIS100
RADIO= 1.65.21.18
KERNEL= Clemsyn post #63 (With atools 280x320, OC 520,Overclocked GPU, Density 120 DPI)
SYSTEM= NAND
DATA= SD (4Gb class4)
ROM= Scoot CyanogeMod 6.1 (RLS5.5)
JIT= Enabled
Overclock= 520 Mhz using Rogue Tools
Autokiller Memory Optimizer= Optimum
The result of that was:
Benchmark 1.03:
Graphic total score=19.986032
CPU total score= 244.68286
Quadrant advanced 1.1.1 :
Your device=456
I wolud like to state -for truths sake- that this result is not the first nor the only i got. The benchmarking value variates. So I posted the best to probe it can be done. After ten runs the average value was 366.
Now my two cents:
*I do set windows animations to fast and transition animations to fast using Spare Parts. And in Settings/Display settings set animations to some. Those steps make the phone appear faster. Is just a visual thing, but the sensation of speed works for me.
*In the "Ultimate Radio" Thread is mentioned that the SPL version can affect the speed of the device. I havent tried, maybe someone can make use of the info.
*I used to have Radio 1.71.09.01. With the same kernel configuration using this radio got me poor results: 297 using CM 6.1 ROM y 289 using Fresh Froyo ROM. Maybe is something to keep in mind as Tuo Nonno said.

I think you're right - the radio must have quite a big effect.
I've just tried a couple of builds, three different .32 kernels and with an overclock to 515Mhz, I always get 210 - 215 in quadrant.
I tried with an overclock of 550Mhz as well, but the score was actually slightly lower - 205
My radio for all of this was 1.70.18.xx
I will have to switch back to a 1.65 radio and try it again!

Great Tips TuoNonno!
I am still al little frightened of overclocking my nice kaiser.
How far will atools actually push my gpu frequency when i tick the overclocking box?
Has anybody made a bad experience after doing this? (Overclocking a gpu is much more dangerous than the cpu, at least with a pc )
Is a performance improvement noticeable, or are only the brenchmarks higher
and how stable is a 461 points kaiser?

The overclock gpu box push the integrated adreno 130 to work like a adreno 200 but I don't know how much mhz will it increase...
The performance improvement is quite noticeable in my opinion, the benchmark that reported 461 was scored with the everyday configuration of my phone, so yes it is stable (at least, in my case). Remember that chips of the same model (our is a msm7200) are not all identical, some are more overclockable than others...

Overclock your Blackstone

Hey guys this is how overclocking is working on Blackstone, on ac or battery power. Stable at 672 MHz. and the phone is that much more snappier.
Install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed V.2 App. in your Device.
Install oruam57s SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card.
Take SD card out and soft reset the phone.
Open registry.
Go to HKLM\Software\Msm7kCpuSpeed.
Edit the values as below:
BootTime = 90000 (This is important. This value gives enough time for the
phone to fully boot up. The phone has to fully boot up
before the OC kicks in)
CheckTime = 20 (Stable at 20, otherwise yoyos between base and OCed
cpu speed)
Command = 0
PerfomanceLevel = 35 (This speed is stable for me without SOD)
ScreenOffPerfomanceLevel = 27
SettlingTime = 10
Close Registry editor, insert SD card in the phone and soft reset the phone.
Once the phone has fully boot up, give it a minute before opening NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed and you should see your OCed cpu speed.
If your OC cpu speed isnt stable then take your SD card out,soft reset the phone and registry edit PerfomanceLevel to a lower value.
To restore back to phone default speed:
Open File Explorer.
Go to Windows\Startup folder and delete SetCpuSpeed.
Soft reset the phone and phone default speed will be restored.
Before deleting SetCpuSpeed from Windows\Startup folder , save it in Documents folder so if you want to overclock again, copy and paste it from Documents folder to Windows\Startup folder.
SKTools Benchmark at 672 MHz:
Intiger = 416.5933 Moves/25 usec.(At stock speed Intiger = 332.6351)
Floating point = 9.56 MWIPS. (At stock speed Floating point = 7.47 MWIPS)
I haven't tested it but this should also work on SEX1 and Touch Diamond.
OVERCLOCK AT YOUR OWN RISK.
After install by follow the instruction, my HD work perfectly. And I try to set speed up to 710 Mhz (Level 37) then it hang. So, the stable should be 672 Mhz on battery as above. THK
.
sorry, but i haven't found the link to download SetCpuSpeed v1.0d on SD card? and this works with the original rom ?
by the way, nice work!!!!!!
Battery performance?
How is the battery performance compared to stock speed? I'm gonna try myself anyway but i dont have time now... Just curious

This is good Post but why you didnt provide a corect link for the apps you need SetCpuSpeed 1.0d cab : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7426966&postcount=1000
Where to install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed in Storage Card or?
Also Hatori create a cab with the reg setting you need to do so if all is working corectly you can include them i mean to edit the post to be more simple and clear and easy to use
Thanks
I cannot understand what u mean by without having gps? so when we overclock we cant use the GPS of the phone or what?
My results are :
SKTools Benchmark at 672 MHz
Integer 420.1011
Floating point 9.633
Note when i do the Bench i forgot ON my WiFi but the result is still GOOD and i can see faster UI and everything.
Also my question is if i want to go back to default what i should do? step by step.
1st to take out the SD card and reset the phone, then edit the regs back to default and uninstall the Msm7CpuSpeed from the phone, then softreset and after the phone load inser in the SD card then uninstall the SetCpuSpeed 1.0d cab and again soft reset.. is that corect? and after a reset the phone will be back to default settings?!
Thanks in advance
I've been follow the original thread.
Qzytor found a solution for the "Blackstone" users, how to overclock our devices without SOD.
Thanx to him my Blackstone flys now
I've tried running it on my blackstone and it hangs on 672MHz, mine only runs stable at 652MHz (level 34)
I am running an NRGZ ROM though and not blackstonehenge...so that might make a difference.
Very awesome!!! My Blackstone now runs stable at 691,2 MHz (level 36) and it seems to have no (or minimal) affect to battery life! I can finally play Spyro using fpsece at 30fps and Abe's Exoddus at 45fps. Very nice

if you were following the original thread, then you would have known that, originally, having the gps enabled was one way of preventing the device from locking up when overclocked.

Previously (before Msm7CpuSpeed registry value edits) overclocking only worked if gps or wifi was on.
Yes Gps works while the phone is OCed.
For reverting back to phone default speed and where to install NetRippers Msm7kCpuSpeed, see post 1.
OCed my Blackstone only to 652MHz (only one that was stable for me =/
No benefit from the "OC" as far as I can see..
...although others might be more lucky
I was very lucky and easy Overclock my Blackstone with no Problem and the device is just fly but i notice the side effect of this Overclock the Battery DRAIN is alottttttt
Normaly with the ROM im using with one charge i have around 3-4 days Battery so i Overclocked today and when i do it i was on 47% of my battery and 5 hrs latter with litle usage i mean few phone calls etc i was on 10% of my battery very very fast
So i guess if you want to use the Overclock you need to recharge your device very often like everyday or every 12 hrs if you use it alot i prefer to have 3-4 days power and for this reason i just revert back to the default processor speed for now

When I was running Energy ROMs I couldn't overclock, I got some freezes or the device just restarted... and I think that's because Energy ROMs for Blackstone are kinda slow and resource demanding.
I'm now on blackSTONEhenge™ HyPer v2.5 (6.5.3.24623) and I have to say that this is the fastest Sense 2.5 ROM I've ever tried, overclocked it to 672 and works well but you have to wait for 1 minute after sense loads every time you restart or else it will freeze. If you are a heavy duty user and you say that you recharge your phone every day, I think the battery won't last 24 hours overclocked.
Hey Guys, what about heat? Cuz if I put Android i can tell that the device is kinda overheated even when is in sleep mode. So is there noticeable temperature changes when we overclock our BS with this?

You can see that it's heating up but not as if you can't use it...

Strange UnderClocking Discovery !! ;)

I am on WIUI 1.12.16 ICS build.
Yesterday, dont know what struck my mind, and i just happend to UnderClock my defy. I underclocked it to 600 Mhz, and to my surprise, i didnt find any lag.
The phone is running smooth as earlier (as at 1.1 Ghz).
Profit : Am saving considerable Juice
No effect on homescreen scrolling, multitasking, opening of app drawer, etc.
Infact all my games (Adrenaline HD, GTA III, BattleHomerun 3D, etc) are running the same way they did when phone was OverClocked
Am using the following Clock Frequencies & find it stable. Will test it even furthur
300-16
450- 28
600-38
Am pretty happy with the present speed as there is hardly and sluggishness or lag in my phone.
Give it a try and Share your experience here.

Nobody tried it yet ??

Or just the app setvels?

Hell, I find 1000MHz too laggy nowadays, i keep it at 1100-62. Increasing vsel3 also helped maintain stability under heavier loads.
my vsel
im on CM7 RC
300 / 20
500 / 38
800 / 45
im running normally no lag prety god battery life.
just start to undervolt and im on those values for now
but wanna try lower values
just wanna know if lower values may do something to the phone.
Yea keep on going lower...
There is hardly any lag in my ROM and its pretty stable.
For those who find 1Ghz slow, blame ur build
At the end of the day, juice really does matters

Dude, u got to be kidding,
firstly at 1.25Ghz, setting vsel to 65 wont be stable and woulld give you hotboots
Next at that vsel, there is no way that you get 2 days usage that too with wireless "always" connected, Unless you have an Extended battery.(more than 1540mAh)

Trust me its worth giving a shot

All games use the gpu for rendering and dont completely use the cpu, the homescreen scrolling, effects are also mostly done the gpu (yes, even without full harware accelerated UI). So underclocking wouldnt have affected that much.
I know this because ive tried a series of vsel - clock combos from 800-38 to 1200-64 and noticed slight inc/dec in performance for games and homescreen scrolling.
But, it obviously affects processes that require the use of cpu. The one that i could notice right away was in the browser. It was noticeably slower in loading pages.
So basically its a matter of choosing b/w power vs battery and finding the right balance.
I use 900-40 600-28 300-16 and if i need more power i use 1200-62(ms2ginger)
I've done that ! .... again ! .... still miui logo comes. ... ... done both ICS version and the normal one ..... any ideas ?

And Yea @pravarth. .. ure right man. ... on these super low settings browsing and many other CPU intensive activities do take a hit. ..
And yes .... that wajkiui logo thing was somewhat related to the themes .... got it now )
another question
also wanna know what scaling governor are you using
is ondemand or are you using a custon governor ?
thanks

Dude, u got to be kidding,
firstly at 1.25Ghz, setting vsel to 65 wont be stable and woulld give you hotboots
Next at that vsel, there is no way that you get 2 days usage that too with wireless "always" connected, Unless you have an Extended battery.(more than 1540mAh)
I feel i can actually set my vsel3 below the default cause when i check the CPU through other apps (Elixer or others) and also the System info shows the Processor speed as 600 Mhz.

Im to lazy to make a battery spy stat to show it to you and second my first max vsel was 1270/66 but i had problems with the wireles not startin from the start and i downclocked to 1250/65 and for me its perfectly stable.

[APP] RENOVATE Gaming Boost JellyBean v1

First off i would like to say a massive thanks to henk2484 who made the original app then sent me the source code to modify/improve to my liking.
I would also like to say a massive thanks to hamdir for for finding all the optimal values.
Right here we go

What is it?
Renovate gaming boost is a simple app which optimized the kernel to be used while gaming. It will give you easily the best gaming experience you have ever had on a mobile phone.
How do i use it?
It's really simple to use, before you want to start gaming just open the app, grant root permissions then click on enable. After you've finished gaming, simply open the app again and click to disable the boost.
Which kernels/ROM support this app?
Theoretically, it will work on all kernels and roms, but if your ROM dev uses custom ondemand values the app won't work. Ask your dev to look at the source code I uploaded and get him to tweak the app to match his ROM values.
Any bugs/side effects?
Obviously, gaming on a device like the One X will cause big battery drain, so don't be complaining to me if your battery only lasts an hour while playing a multi core game like ShadowGun.
How to install?
Flash the zip in recovery.

HTC One X - Tegra 3
RENOVATE Gaming Boost JellyBean v1.0
This version is suitable for most HTC phones including the HTC One X+
Sets supercharger's max memory minfree values (8, 16, 200, 220, 240, 275), when turned off it returns to stock ICS/JB values (32, 40, 28, 56, 64, 80)
Optimizes HTC's ondemand governor to greatly reduce random CPU stalls, turning boost ON will always switch you to ondemand governor with the tweaked values, turning boost OFF will also switch you back to ondemand governor with it's original stock values (this will also help you apply the performance tip below)
Unlinks the GPU from the CPU in 3D mode, that is when gaming if the CPU chooses to drop down, the GPU will keep using the upper clock (3d scaling off)
It will Attempt to set GPU520 for kernels using Franco's GPU interface
Does not attempt to change the scheduler, every kernel has it's own choice of schedulers, you can still set your favorite scheduler outside this app (using scripts or SetCPU)
It will not touch the CPU clocks, on stock JB ROM you can choose between 1300mhz and 1500mhz using the stock powersaver mode, on custom kernels you can still OC (using scripts or SetCPU)
For those who can't get it to work try to use the stock values fix zip from here
This version was optimized for HTC's stock JB OTA and Kernel, checkout the Stock HTC JB Kernel 3.14.x.24 review
PowerSaver mode
With HTC powersaver's CPU mode turned off, the device will use up to 1500mhz single and 1400mhz quad core, sadly for some rare quad enabled games like shadowgun this might cause random performance drops when the game calls the single core 1500 step
Enabling HTC powersaver's CPU mode will lock the device to 1300mhz quad core, effectively its a quad lock but slightly slower with less heat and battery consumption
Experiment with your game to find which mode works best along with game boost
Locking the quad
Simply set the CPU clock to 1400 on boot and it will stick, the powersaver mode will switch between 1300 and 1400, both quad modes without the buggy single core 1500 step
Place the attached 99CPU1400.txt script in etc/init.d folder, remove .txt extension and set all permissions, reboot
If this doesn't work or you are using a kernel without init.d support, simply use SetCPU, change the clock to 1400 and set on boot
Aggressive Performance tip
You can go further if you want to force max possible performance, unlike ICS, JB kernel allows the performance governor to use full quad, so you can enable boost ON and then switch to performance governor using your favorite SetCPU app, with powersaver off the device will use up to 1400mhz quad cores and idle around two cores 1200mhz, with powersaver on it will use up to 1300mhz quad cores and idle around two cores 1200mhz, naturally this tip will cause extra heat and battery drain, once you are done disable game boost and you will switch back to stock ondemand governor
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RENOVATE Gaming Boost ICS v2.1: NCX gaming kernel v4 is the recommended custom kernel (based on pure stock kernel)
Unlinks the GPU from the CPU in 3D mode, that is when gaming if the CPU chooses to drop down, the GPU will keep using the upper clock (3d scaling off)
Set GPU520 for Franco's R20 GPU method
No longer tries to change the scheduler, since every kernel has it's own choice of schedulers, you can still set your fav scheduler outside this app (using scripts or set CPU)
The custom version will not touch the CPU clocks, this way you can OC or UC on supported kernels (using scripts or set CPU) and still use gaming boost, the custom version is best for Franco R20 and Faux 11
The stock version is for both ICS and JB stock kernels, for the ICS kernel like always you need to make sure not to switch off the screen after boost, on JB the values no longer reset on screen off
For those who can't get it to work try to use the stock values fix zip from here
If you still have trouble getting this app to work since it doesn't request SU or do anything, check this post
you will know that the app is working, if it requests SU the first time and takes a second switch to the boost mode
Warning! due to HTC code, on many kernels including both stock and older Faux, turning off the screen will reset two vital parameters set by the app so you have to make sure not to turn off the screen between boost and playing a game
This issue was fixed in most custom kernels like Gaming Kernel, Faux and Franco, if you are not using such custom kernels always remember to renable boost mode after screen unlock
If you still have trouble getting this app to work since it doesn't request SU or do anything, check this post
If you like to set the boost mode permanently:
How to set the gaming boost mode permanently using SetCPU 3.x for any Kernel
For AOSP 4.0.x ROMs, you will also need this:
RenovateGamingBoost_SenseFramework.zip (for AOSP 4.0.x ROMs, it will add the needed Sense framework system files, flash first followed by the app)
For AOSP 4.1.x ROMs this app is currently not working
Thanks to rayford85 and h00py for the installation solutions
Special thanks to timlambo for helping us test and refine the parameters
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For information the One X should last 2.5 hours of non stop gaming on full boost with screen brightness at 20%, it reaches a max of 52c in ambiance of 33c, do not try this while on the charger

Tested it out with Sonic thd and Dead trigger, it's working very nicely. Battery reaching up to 55C was fine right? Hit 52 degrees playing sonic, which btw is playing better than ever with the gpu overclocked and this app
Things like this make me really happy to have gotten a one x, by that I mean the things people such as you and Hamdir do, no way I would find that on another device
Nice work mate ... Will test it . ..
Well done Willkyy. Will test this soon, and see which values you use. Do you use the same ones, as which hamdir used in his latest scripts?

Disclaimer:
I am not to be held responsible if anything goes wrong. Simple as that. You do these mods of your own free will.
Warning:
Please, do not report issues or complain about lousy battery times/performance, if you've used any of those pre-made scripts that promise godly battery or performance - they often cause more trouble than they're worth, and are mostly snake oil. And often, you cannot easily undo those changes. If you run a lot of background apps ( for example, five different messengers that cause wakelocks or increased battery usage ), then this guide is not for you. Do not report issues if you've modded your phone with any audio scripts ( like v4a ), xposed, or anything like that! Do not report if you did any permanent system mods, period! These kernel are for CLEAN & STOCK phones, that are rooted ONLY. To summarize, I will not bother replying if you did anything to your phone besides the tweaks I recommend.
Nothing done here is permanent. Everything can be returned to stock in a matter of minutes, if you prefer so, just by uninstalling Kernel Adiutor, unfreezing the bloatware and power cycling the phone.
And hugs to all that pushed the "Thanks!" button. Hell, hugs for everyone!!!

BEFORE WE START...
●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●
Must be done before modifying CPU values:
Open your hidden system menu by dialing 277634#*#, go down to Power, find items "High temperature property" and "Thermal mitigation daemon", and set them like this:
High Temp Prop OFF
Disabled
Thermal Mitigation
Disabled
After that, turn phone off, wait 15-20 seconds and turn back on.. The screen will not dim in hot conditions anymore. Benchmarks are higher, games run smoother. And we can tweak our CPUs.
●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●
KERNEL ADIUTOR SETTINGS
●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●
Apply on boot time is to be decided by the user. Although Kernel Adiutor waits for boot complete, I noticed ( on few occasions ) that it takes more time to apply the settings properly. Why? Who knows. Depends on the number of apps you have running on boot, version of the firmware or how lazy it is on boot... Safest setting is 40 seconds, but 20 should cause no issues and is preferred. 10 can be a problem.
CPU:
CPU Maximum Frequency: 1209
CPU Minimum Frequency: 800
CPU Governor: interactive
*note: Minimum frequency is set to default 800, since Snapdragon 410 draws the same voltage on 200, 400, 533 and 800. That's the reason I set the frequency back to 800 idle. No need to go lower for absolutely no gain in battery life or performance.
CPU Governor Tunables subsection:
above_hispeed_delay: 20000 1094400:40000
go_hispeed_load: 80
hispeed_freq: 998400

DEFAULT ( 7+h SOT ) - target_loads: 1 800000:75 998400:80 1094400:85
PERFORMANCE ( smoother, few hours less SOT ) - target_loads: 1 800000:75 998400:80 1094400:80 1152000:85
timer_rate: 20000
max_freq_hysteresis: 40000
*note: Reason for system lags is found in the cheaper and slower memory LG has used for H440N ( my guess is, to cut cost ). You can test that yourself by running various I/O benchmark tools and noting speeds of random and sequential reads/writes. I did not manage to make that better in any way by tweaking the I/O schedulers, be it deadline, cfq or row - even testing some examples from Franco's Dev Team. Seems that it's best to leave it on cfq and cut overhead with the flashtweaks init.d script found later mentioned in this post.
Frequency changes happen VERY fast. So fast that CPU widgets or passive frequency readers have a lousy time keeping up. Only values you can trust are found in Kernel Adiutor's Frequency Table.
Those values found above are the best possible values for H440N's CPU for performance & battery saving, and I stand by them. If anyone else cares to try and do some tweaking to improve on those, by all means, please do so. If in the future I decide to add new CPU values, they will be strictly performance based, hence no battery saving.
Reason for the CPU frequency sticking to 1209600 is caused by the LG Home launcher. It contains a system call where, if you open up your apps drawer, it immediately ramps up the frequency to the max for almost 8 seconds or until you close the app drawer! That sucks, and is a lazy way for LG to provide smooth app drawer opening/swiping/closing! Bad LG, bad!!!
Two ways to solve that:
1. Spend less time listing through your apps drawer, since the frequency drops as soon as you stop swiping through it, or...
2. Freeze LG Home and use another launcher ( like Nova or Apex ), if you don't mind losing Double Tap to Wake, or work around that problem with launchers that support double tap gesture and link that gesture with a screen off app like this. Do not freeze any LG Home system apps, besides Easy Home. No need. System will automatically kill the unneeded launcher. Just follow my frozen bloatware list. Nothing more, nothing less.

Init.d
1. Turn on "Emulate Init.d" and click that big "+" to create a new script.
2. Name the new script: flashtweaks
Contents of the "flashtweaks" script are:
Code:

echo 0 > /sys/block/mmcblk0/queue/nomerges;
echo 2 > /sys/block/mmcblk0/queue/rq_affinity;
echo 512 > /sys/block/mmcblk0/queue/nr_requests;

echo 0 > /sys/block/mmcblk0/queue/add_random;
echo 0 > /sys/block/mmcblk1/queue/nomerges;
echo 2 > /sys/block/mmcblk1/queue/rq_affinity;
echo 512 > /sys/block/mmcblk1/queue/nr_requests;
echo 0 > /sys/block/mmcblk1/queue/iostats;
echo 0 > /sys/block/mmcblk1/queue/add_random;
2. Name the new script: tcptweaks
Contents of the "tcptweaks" script are:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
#more reasonable tcp tweaks
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_low_latency;
echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_timestamps;
echo 900 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_time;
echo 5 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_probes;
echo 156 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_intvl;
Example of properly added scripts. I just named them differently:
Ignore the "99SuperSUDaemon" script unless you know what it is. It's not needed for our tweaks, and if you don't have it, it's perfectly fine.

But, damn. Those original settings must've drained the battery like hell... Are people at LG crazy?
EDIT: Sometimes, SetCPU will show the lowest frequency as 1200, but don't worry. Set it to 200, and verify it's at 200 in Times in state on the last SetCPU tab. It seems to be a bug in the app. That's why I used Kernel Adiutor.
ondemand + noop + lmk set to agressive and the phone flies like never before! looks like constant 60 fps. Thanks op!
Always glad to help out. Like I mentioned before, this phone has good hardware and is capable of stellar performance. Only problem is LG did not pay much attention on the tweaking side of things.
It's easy for them to tweak flagships
EDIT: Just found out about another gem! The app is called Recently by chainfire.
Installed, tried and it's marvelous even on default settings. I encourage everyone to try it. It's what Recent cards were supposed to be, in my opinion.
So I installed Busybox and Kernel Adiutor, set CPU min frequency to 200 Mhz, cpu governor to interactive and and I/O scheduler to noop. I've set both to apply on boot. Is that everything I need to do?

It is, if you don't mind the default Interactive values. Otherwise, go a bit lower to "CPU Governor Tunables". Click that and set values as mentioned in first post. Those give a much better battery life.
After that, my recommendation is to visit the Low Memory Killer section and set that to Aggressive and apply on boot.
I can say that, after a bit of tweaking, this phone rocks! Glad to have bought it. Still hoping for a unlocked bootloader and maybe a CM port
Can you please take a screenshot of your CPU Governor Tunables section? I'm not completely sure that I did it right.
No problem, my good man. Here they are:

holy ..! this really does make a difference. is it ok if i set cpu to "performance" and dont mess anything else with it? i dont care about battery life that much. cuz it seems that with agressive setting for ram, and changing to "noop" made wonders for me performance wise
Performance governor forces 1200, so that's not desirable.
For the best performance with lowest idle, set it to Ondemand / Noop. You will lose a bit more battery with those, but the phone will fly.
Otherwise, set as I've set it. Tweaked interactive.
userspace,powerspace hotplug and performance is what i have in karnel auditor.. which one should i choose then? tyvm!
p.s. thanks again for these tips man
That's strange. Are you using the LG Spirit H440N or some other variation?
See here ( list of governors ):

ah right. that could be a reason.. i use 3g version, with mediatek cpu

amazing speed and multitasking (with Recently), thank you for this
Can you help me with target loads? Is this ok?
Sent from my LG-H440n using Tapatalk
String seems to be written ok, but my guess is it will clash with go_hispeed_load value.
If go_hispeed_load has a value of 85, then your initial value in target loads can't be "1". It must be higher than 85.
We're using our hispeed frequency ( 400000 ) as idle. It often drops to 200, so I see no reason of adding 200 to target loads.
Did you check out my post above?
Also, take a look at my KA frequency table:

It seems that ive messed up something. Now my phone wont go deepsleep. This is the result over night.

Can you make a screenshot of your target loads. Im having a hard time making it work. Performance is on point but i get a lot of battery drain.

Mi max cpu frequency stuck.

I got really annoying problem here...is anyone check this or never encounter the problem i faced...it seems i cant get the most out of my mi max when needed...when playing games and watch 1080p video, small core stuck at 1017mhz and big cores stuck at 1190mhz..ive change it several times but nothing happened...because of this i got stuttering when playing video and games....ive check the temp throttle, and dissable all of it...but the problem still persist...ive test it with miui globerom and mm rr....same problem with both rom...
how can i get small cores to min 400mhz, max 1401mhz and big cores 400mhz, max 1804mhz when i needed it...
Here some sample image when im playing games and watching 1080p video.

And also my big and small cores setting...i dont fiddle with anything on it..
As much as I see your cores do reach peek clock frequencies I also see a lot of bad configured tunables in interactive governor setup you are using especially timer rates.
Don't have much time now to explain or adjust it me by later today. & I don't know from where you got your config as it have CPU frequencies that are not supported by S65x SoC's so plenty of problems there to start with.

It reaches peak at normal usage from time to time but when playing games oland watching videos, the cores stuck at 1017mhz for small cores and 1190mhz for big cores...small cores max have 1401mhz and big got 1804mhz...so there s a difference in performance when in trottle down like that...ive ask some other users....but they also have the same config as mine...this is the stock config for globerom and ive never change it....
If you can give a screenshots of your config, i would be glad to test it if it work on my device...
Sorry the first 2 pictures doesn't show clearly...
Why dont just stay with stock settings? The little cores are configure really bad

I dont know what stock setting config are...this is the setting i got when flashing the rom....so probably its the roms fault?...or maybe some mode causing this....if i flash the rom again, maybe it will be fixed...?
Can i get any example setting for me to fix it...
Put;
Above high speed delay
40000 900000:60000
Go high speed load
90
Min sample time
20000
Boost pulse durilation
40000
Hi speed freq
900000
Target loads
90 600000:95 900000:97 1100000:97
(delate other entries in target loads)
Timer slack 40000
For the big cluster do it like this:
Above high speed delay
40000 1382400:60000
Go high speed load
90
Min sample time
20000
Boost pulse durilation
40000
Hi speed freq
1382400
Target loads
90 1382400:97
Timer slack 40000
Should be much more snapper, balanced, power aware with a good performance.
Don't charge anything else & in a couple of days tell me how you feel about it.
Have to add that used Interactive is rather old & doesn't have some tunables.
Best regards.
And one more thing...is it advisable to use L speed to improve the cpu load....or might it interfere with the manual setting...

My advice is that you don't use anything that you can not check in code what exactly it's doing. L speed shifted away from using scripts long ago so I don't recommend using it.
Edit:
You can try HEBF if you wish it still uses scripts.

Thanks...ive used your setting, and test it to the extent of my phone....the performance is great...but unfortunately, it still the same...the cores will gradually tuned down automatically to 1190 big and 1017 small, max value....even everything i do, it will stay in that state...and also, one of the big cores will offline for no reasons...so i just have to operate my phone with 5 cores online only for any big resources app....in the end, stuttering will appear...
Ive also checked that i cant change the governor either...it stuck at interactive....this things occur if the battery and cpu heats up to 38-40°....at 40°, all cores is lock away from any setting...ive tried to diactivate all the temperature throttle...but its the same...no effect...still lock....then if the rom is the culprit, then ive used RR rom and Miui GlobeRom...2 of a different Rom all together...still persist this problem...so im stuck to dont know what to do rather than flash unmodified stock rom and see whats happened...

First of all all monitoring apps aren't real-time secondly they some times have the problem with displaying correct informations for 2,3,4th cores on the big cluster (I don't know why) falls displaying how they don't work but believe me they do. Tried to do a bit of monitoring my self & depending of game & or video player the cpu utilisation varies but little cores do meet their max frequency when needed & big ones do stay around 1200MHz when used but if you ask me that is perfectly normal & desired actually if it whose otherwise you would got thermal throttling. So this doesn't have to do anything with thermals nor CPU governor, it's probably imposed by the cpu ctr driver. I don't know where you got idea how any of this is crucial for either gaming or (good forgive) video playback; for GPU its crucial that one of CPU clusters (or with hot plug at least one core) scale along as it determines the RAM frequency, on the other hand video decoding (for supported formats) it's done on a DSP so it's desirable to CPU's actually stay as much as they can on active idle frequencies (periodically syncing system tasks) if you use unsupported video compression or for some other case choose to use software video decoder then CPU's jump to full frequency as they get utilised.

For monitoring real time cores, i go to development option and select Show cpu usage option....that i think doesn't lie....the problem im facing is that why doest the cores doesn't stick to selected frequency....ive never seen it do that on other phone before...even when the phone heats or overclock...theres always for us to change it manually if we want to..so for my case, its not like that...it persistently selected what it want...
The problem im facing is in fact a video playback...Hevc x265 1080p 24fps.....so if your aware, hevc is a new encoder for video playback with lower size but better quality...but to run it, it needed more processing power...ive tried with same format but with 720p only...it runs flawlessly...so i assume 1080p will do the same....but in this case...its not....yes the video only support software decoding...and i used mx player for it...since it support it, ive set it to run at max performance....to run all cores to play video...
Ive run the video at 34° battery and cpu...small cores run max clock...and also 2 big cores run max 1800mhz....the video runs smoothly...until the temp reaches 37° the big cores start to slow down to 1600mhz....then after a while 39° 1190mhz....then the video start stuttering badly until in unwatchable....
So this behavior of big+small cores is for me kinda unnatural or is it, it supposed to be acting like that...i dont know...this is the first cluster core phone i ever used...so if it supposed to be acting like that, then are we getting the most out of the phone performance if it always dumb down like that...
Monitoring does lie (check by running Volumark bench when it happens) & that temperature/frequency down scaling is not normal behaviour.
I do know what H265 is (& even how it works) I also know both hardware (QC) and software (Google) libs on firmware are broken for it (surprisingly Vp9 just works fine). I still think how H265 full profile FHD culd be a little to much for a CPU alone.

That's why im scratching my head all this time...ok ill do some research more and post if anything new or if im able to solve it...thanks for the knowledge...
Just for curiosity...i ran Volumark at cool temp 32° and all cores run well....got 72 at Volumark.
But i run again with temp 38° and my cores, like i said earlier, big cores max at 1200mhz and the other one offline...got 39 at Volumark.

As I told you that isn't normal behaviour. I would re flash firmware or better yet if you have a full backup in recovery if I whose you.
This is my logcat...if someone have some free time or care to help me solve my problem, care to take a look...
Im hoping someone could provide me an answer for me to fix my problem im having...i dont think i can live with a phone that behave like this...
Im not able to read it and hoping someone can...just post it here.
I take this log out from kernel audiutor...so i hope thats ok..

Uffff. Log didn't show much at least not reasonable to me. There are cuple of IO denials at the end. Did look last cuple of pages. It's really hard to get to the bottom of this, actually impossible regarding how much potential problematic things you are using, from xposed framework to the fact that you are on beta MiUI relase to the fact you used various tuning apps that changed the behaviour. Sorry but I cant really help you. If this persist after flashing full official stable firmware freshly then try to catch the fresh logcat right afterwards down frequency cpu happens along with screanshots, post it hire and fail the official bug report at MiUI forums (with a screanshots & logcat attached).
Best regards.

Well, i did a fresh install but using latest Official dev Rom, did not touch nothing or change anything on the rom after install...just install couple of apps and do the test....but unfortunately, the problem still there....
Here are the fresh log cat, if your wanna take a look and feedback...this is the last time i think...i will try to contact post it on Miui forum as well.
