What is the best rom for desire hd? I'm currently running leedroid HD latest version, but I see many others are running android revolutions hd. What is the positive about those roms, and what is the negative? What does leedroid hd have that android revolutions hd doesn't and vise versa?
Thanks for replies!

I switched from LeeDroid 1.4.0 to Revolution 2.0.8... I can't say anything bad about LeeDroids rom, but I'm gonna stay with Revolution
try both rom and decide what is best for you, whats good for me might not be good for you, in the end its each person preferences. For me im an Android Revolution addict.

I went from Leedroid to Revolution HD because of the animations It got on my nerves, even tho you can turn them off
Cant go wrong with either choices, both good stable fast roms. Might want to pick up a cm7 gingerbread rom and try how that feels, less battery performance but sufficient in my pov.

Definitely android revolution HD....it is just awesome....
Guys, you're crazy ;-). We, noobs, we wish to flash ONE ROM and live happily ever after, we are not flash addicts ;-). I know it's hard to have time to compare both of them, but if you do not want, just tell us some features which are not included in the second one and we will compare them by ourselves, thanks ;-D
animations of leedroid sense 3.0 are amazing!!!
just hope they update the market!! like in revolution hd!!!
The diferences in base code are very hard to see.
The main diferences come up to battery lasting, the cpu parameters, how fast is set to run etc. and mostly about themes.
But like you read in previous posts, these roms are custom roms which means that every developer starts to create them based on what he likes, so try them and when you decide what is the most preferable to you explain why to us so help other people too.
I personally tried both but and i use LeeDroid's rom for now. But i wan't to try a new light rom with great promises (as developer states) with low battery consumption and great apps, is the Desense Rom from NCteam.
Leedroid HD is the best rom so far.
i have tried both and can easily say that revolution is a featureless rom although you can find so many themes for this rom.
only thing leedroid misses is the themes. i don't understand why are themes developers against leedroid.
you can hardly do any themes modifications other than transparencies which leedroid provides you by himself. rest of the 3rd party themes will wipe all your leedroid's data and animations.
I have flashed several different roms and they each have their strengths and weaknesses. I currently run LeeDroid and have been extremely happy. Its all preference and I recommend you try several until you've found the one that works best for you. We can consider ourselves lucky that there are many great developers that work hard provide us what the carriers don't...

Of course !!!
Well as stated from my signature m running Revolutions and m extremely happy with it. Have tried Leedriod also which is good but i prefer ARHD.
In Leedroid you have many animation build in while in ARHD you can anytime flash different themes and Sense 3.0 features.
If you wanna consider my opinion go try out ARHD first from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
and then check out Leedroid.
Keep the one that suits you and your DHD. It all depends on your and your phone's taste !
Cheers!

I mean in term OS stability, speed, reliable day to use. The one with the least problems or bugs.
In a nutshell, the one best closest to an original rom

I'm also wondering about that. Still haven't taken the plunge from stock HTC Android 2.1 ROM yet...
Considering the ROMs posted here from LeeDroid, SanderX and fridlack. Or maybe the "original" DJ DROID one... (which I just read is getting an update very soon)
I'm also looking for something reliable and not too modified/customized.
Btw, do they all include a swedish language option?
Cheers!
I've found Pays-rom to be quite good, although wouldn't mind giving Modaco a go again.
Would say atm leedroids Rom is. Ity is very stable and I am yet to have a fc or any other real problem with it. The Rom has been out for nearly 24hrs and bar a few teething problems on the install this should be fixed with ver 1.3.

You won't go far wrong with Paul's ROMs at Modaco (only the kitchen's paid by the way - he usually releases "pre-baked" versions free) but if I were you I'd go for DeVillain if you want a SENSE ROM or DeFroST/Open Desire for a vanilla ROM.
Paul's Modaco Rom are the best !!!!
do you really have to pay for Paul's Modaco ROMs ?
They seem to freely available at their forum . . .
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...-desire-with-online-kitchen-froyo-with-sense/
What am i missing here ?
You have to pay if you want to use his rom-kitchen, where you can choose what app and what function goes into your personal rom, based on Pauls rom.
The free ones are "prebaked" by Paul.
I'm using VilliansRom and to be honest, It is very polished for a first release.
Only thing I don't like is the Market place is 2.1 not 2.2. however Flash 10.1 has been preinstalled. so it's not really an issue.
Speed is excellent, not sure if Defrost is quicker, but there is no lag.
Stability is very good, no FC yet
Battery life, no idea at the moment.
Widgets all working as far as I can tell.
leedroid vs devillain vs paul's rom (prebaked roms not yet alvailable)?
What do you choose? I was thinking to try it this weekend
I'm running DeVillain's ROM at the moment and it is very nice, but to me there just doesn't seem to be the community support behind it, e.g. the % and ring battery mod.
I'm about to try out LeeDrOiD's ROM.
Hello everyone!
I am new to android platform, and those days i was reading a lot about custom ROM's. Today i bought new HTC Desire, which comes with Android 2.1. I want to install some custom ROM, which is on Android 2.2. I readed a lot about openDesire, and i want to ask you, can you tell me which ROM is the best?
2.1. on my phone is fast, but i watched some videos on youtube, that is running 2.2, and it seems a lot faster than 2.1.
Btw i would like that custom ROM have HTC Sense.
Thanks!
First of all, OpenDesire doesn't have Sense. There really is no "best" rom. I like Pinky's rom, but others prefer LeeDroid or even different ones. There are a lot of roms with Sense and most are pretty good.

Undisputed best ROM for HTC Desire is MiUi
Over last year or more, I have tried several custom ROMs for HTC Desire, from LeeDroid, Cyanogen, ownhere, NeoPhyte and few others, but since I came across MiUi, I have not looked for anything else because this just simply is the BEST ROM for HTC Desire.
Have a look at it for yourself -

Strange that Oxygen has not been mentioned in this thread, it is a really great stable ROM (Battery consumption is good too).
I suggest you to give a try on it.
Note that for the moment the camera recording is not working (have a look at the first 2 posts in the oxygen thread).
I really like the Cyanogenmod 7 (build 25)

I find that Oxygen isn't that stable at all or fast and a little laggy. No idea if it's just my phone but it seems that way with they others as well. I am going to try it again tonight to see if it has been improved since the last time I used it.
MIUI-Au is an extremely fast rom, faster than the other Froyo roms. I guess selecting a rom for yourself you need to test them and see which you like.

all ginger roms will remain laggy until right drivers come in.
who ever says its not lagging is blind or is used to lag by using sense rom
I used to use miui, then went to lee droid, then back to miui. I think I have.found perfection in insert coin by baad newz. Best battery for a sense based rom.
Just remembered: used alex hd also for a while but there were way too many lags after a few days. The rom might be in its infancy then
I am using NeoPhyTe Mod (1.8) and this fits the best to my needs and my taste...

In my opinion the question is not "Witch is the best Android 2.3 rom for HTC Desire ?", it is " Witch of these Android 2.3 roms is more suitable for me ?"
I say that becouse i try all the roms from the launch of HTC Desire until now and i like all of them. I`ve had miui rom for like an haf a year at the start, becouse i didn`t like so much Android 2.2 froyo, then i migrate to the cook of devs around XDA, and CM7, Oxygen also.
I think that, when you have a free day, you should try these roms: MIUI, CM7, the one made by baadnewz, it`s much stable than the others for now, the one made by Alex (i like his roms from when he start doing stuff for HTC Desire).
I think these is the big categories made by me.
Personaly i like and use for now the one made by baadnewz (the stable v1.0.8)
If youd like effects you shoud try MIUI first.
If youd like simplicity and speed you shoud try CM7.
If youd like sense and a little speed you shoud try the one made by baadnewz.
Without anger, i apreciate all the work from all the devs around here. I have a big respect upon them (i`m not able to do anything then flash a rom )
This is just my opinion.
MIUI of course
I think the question is incorrect. Everyone chooses what he likes, what fits his needs more.
Want latest HTC Sense, that was not designed for Desire, but theoretically can run there - go for RCMixS
Want slim and quick but naked ROM - go for Oxigen
What pros of CM I don't know. Basically it's like fat Oxygen, with added features.
Despite they look different, but have very similar concept of UI. MIUI has different approach, which for my taste is much more successful. As it claims on MIUI official website, it takes best of Android and iPhone. Totally agree. Tried latest RCMixS after I tested MIUI and couldn't keep it even couple days, returned back to MIUI.
But it's of course my opinion.
Non-existent!

Sorry, but there's no such thing as "the best ROM" for any device. There's ROM's you like and ROM's you don't. That's like asking what's the best film, or best music track, or best food. Everyone has their own opinion which is why life is so much fun!
Personally, I've been using Baadnewz InsertCoin Nightly for weeks (now on v43). Superb Gingerbread ROM and lot's of great features from Sense 3 too
I prefer insertcoin. Very fast, no lags, bugs - everything is ok
This is Development forum and I believe this thread needs to be moved.
And I rather prefer Oxygen Everyone basically likes different ROM, but better one is with smaller amount of bugs

stop spamming here its a dev section
Since I got the phone with Sense on it I take preference to Sense ROMS, I have also tried MIUI and AOSP ROMS like Cyanogen and GingerVillain all of them offer something that the other would be lacking.
So for me out of the 3 variants these are what I use,
• Sense ROM: Reflex S
• AOSP ROM: GingerVillain
• MIUI ROM: MIUI XJ
I use all of them and I change every few weeks when I feel for a change of scenery, they all for are the best ROM because they are made by the best developers.
As for the BEST ROM for you, thats is your decision!!!
A very generic question in a wrong section.
Hi,
I think this post is usefull so different users can state why they choose this or that ROM.
In my case I currently use MIUI (from XJ) mostly because that ROM is fast, has a very nice interface, the menus are very different from stock android, the phone/dial and messages apps are great. However sometimes I get some FCs in Camera app so sometimes I like to install the Leedroid Sense ROM as I also like he Sense UI. However in the last Leedroid ROMs the notifications area is too transparent so some notifications are hard to see (not sure if you can change that) so I get back to MIUI.
After reading this thread I'm now going to try the insertcoin ROM and maybe the CM7. The only thing with non sense roms is the phone/dial app, even apps like Go Contacts are not as fast and usefull as the one with sense or MIUI.
Of course there's no such thing as the best ROM, but for each person there are some ROMS that are better.
Cheers.
There is no best rom. It depends on personal preferences.

Ok so change the question a bit. Whats the fastest rom "Benchmark wise" the fastest i have found is oxygen 2.1.3 all others are slightly slower. Also another question i have is can you flash things from one gb rom to another like for example "Volume button music track skip?" from cm7 to gingervillian?
Which rom would you say is the most stable and fasted for the htc desire?
there seems to be too much of a choice?
any specific ones?
It all comes down to personal preference in the end.
I always preferred the AuraxTSense ROMs from Neophyte but I do not like the newer Aurax ROMs so I have gone to Ginger Villain and find it to be just great.
I've tried every ROM except the MIUI ones and the Oxygen ROM. CM7 is quite good and more than enough people enjoy it's stability, but it is not for me I don't think. I like the way GV is a customised version of it.
I still prefer the old Sense ROMs but maybe it's because I just prefer the look of them. LeeDroid ROMs are incredibly stable and fast, so I suggest to start there. His LeeDroid 2.5.0 is a great build and if you feel like a Gingerbread experience, go for the GB version of LeeDroid instead.
I originally went with LeeDroid, so I feel it is a good start for others.

CM7 is a very fast and stable ROM.. its not Sense based but I think its very close to it. Use the s2e app to overcome the internal storage issues inevitable with Desires and you'll not only have a fast stable ROM but you'll also have a lot more space for apps

With things like this, advice and recommendation can only go so far ..
Like some of the replies above, some of the most popular ones are e.g.
CM7
LeeDroid
Oxygen
I run the ladder and am greatly satisfied.

I can recommend the AcesMod007 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113070
It's quite new, but it's a very stable and good Hybrid ROM of Sense 2.1/3.0 and gets many Updates. Besides it's very fast and saves Battery quite a lot.
Using Leedroid from its begining now on 3.0.8.2 Data++. No problems at all.
BR
MIUI roms have useful feature and very customizable. u should try them.
You will go through several roms until you find one that you like (I have had my desire since launch so i went through loads )
As far as speed goes i would say go for rom without Sense, CM7 for example.
I used Leedroid for a long time and can not fault it.
However in the end I settled for this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988570
It does require a bit more fiddling than most roms, but as long as you read the guide/FAQ you should have no problems.
I have been running this rom for a couple of months and have had no problems at all.
I'm currently using CM7, but I really do miss aspects of Sense which I sacrificed in favour of improved battery life and speed. The browser on CM7 just isn't as pleasant to use, and I really do like and use various Sense widgets. I love the notification screen in CM7 with the wifi/BT/GPS options, but it just doesn't feel quite right to me. MIUI looks a bit much like an iOS for my tastes, though I may give it a shot at some point.
Currently trying to flash AceSRom007 and having my fair share of trials and tribulations with it. The actual look of the ROM is wonderful, but I may have to flash back to stock to try and get it to work.
on my desire I have installed sgbs rom...most reactive and stable
As was stated above, it comes down to personal preference mostly.
In terms of speed, I didn't notice big differences between the commonly used ROMs as a non-expert user.
I tried CM7, Oxygen, Insertcoin, Reflex, and now experimenting with MIUI, which fits me well for now
The best thing you can do, is try out a few of them for a few days, and choose that, which appeals the most to you.
You need to download and experiment. Oxygen is blazing fast AOSP rom, CM7 has more features and is slower than Oxygen, MIUI is the iPhone lookalike if you want anything like that, and there is this gargantuan selection of Sense roms which are slower but give you the Sense experience.
And when you say a "rom based on original rom", you mean with HTC Sense?
As AOSP you can try Oxygen and CM7. On the other hand if you want to stay in sense GUI try LeeDroid, sgbs and AceSmod007. I'm using the last of them and I'm very satisfied.
I want to flash my first ROM ever and ive been trying to read a bit and decide on the most appropriate ROM for me. I want something fast and with a good battery life and from what Ive been reading Absolution seems to offer both these things really well. One thing I dont think im willing to give up right now however is the ability to sync facebook images and information onto my contacts. Do Absolution and other Cyanogen based ROMS allow us to do that? Any one with any other suggestions that you think may be easier for me to handle for a first ROM? Also, is there a way for me to backup my current stock rooted ROM so I go back to it in case I dont like CM?
If you want cyanogenmod based ROMs, for me blackICE ROM is the best by far.
If you want to stick to official releases for our DHD, Android Revolution or wait for LeeDroiD to update his ROM
If your want sense 3.5, in my opinion SmartDroiD is my ROM of choice,it really is the best ROM I've ever used, but there is ER3BUS ROM and RcMiX Runny. Currently I'm on ER3BUS as I wanted to test it and I've ended up loosing my USB cable so I'm stuck atm but I will be returning to SmartDroiD soon as I can.

Yea, when you first install a custom ROM after making your choice, obviously you will have clockwordmod recovery on the phone. From here you can do backups (referred to as nandroid backups) you can also initiate this from ROM manager.
Good luck intrepid Modder.
Also my recommendations are
Sense - Android Revolution HD. It's stock Sense look and feel with good battery life and amazing support, practically 24hour.
AOSP - CM7 - Again amazing support and a great experience. It can link your FB profile pics, but don't expect and decent resolution.
Bleeding Edge - LC ICS Beta 4.5 - Great if you want to try the new flavour of Android but really not for the new modder.
Thanks a lot for the help guys. Knowing that I can back up my stock rom is particularly comforting. Im hoping il have enough time this weekend to get around to doing this. By then Il make sure to look around for some videos of each of those ROMs in order to better choose my first
I feel that Absolution and Blackice are roughly on par with each other, and both are excellent. I'm very curious about Wilkyyy's reasoning...
If your only serious criteria are speed and battery life, the Oxygen 2.3.2 port can't be beaten IMHO. It has far fewer "options" than the former two ROMs though, and there is no CM7-style theming. If you use an alternate launcher like Go, though, then this isn't really an issue or even very relevant.

Everyone will tell you what they think is the best rom out there. It is all a matter of opinion and taste. I would suggest watching the threads and see which ones are up to date with features that are appealing to you and try them each out for a few days/hours/minutes etc until you settle into one that makes you happy. There are tons of quality roms and many that are inactive as far as development too. Just be sure to back up your go to or stock rom before experimenting.
i would say virtuous affinity-v1.48.0 its fast and dont use much battery
i think you can use mybackup pro to backup your stock rom

How's that, chief? You can use launcher themes to change the look of your phone interface, if you're really "into" that kind of thing. Yeah, sure, your settings menu won't change, but if you're gonna lose sleep over that, then your problems run much deeper in my opinion.
Another alternative for Oxygen is the kitchen, which has already been done by at least one user.

I think you should try a whole bunch of them. Absolution is awesome IMHO.

Android Revolution and Absolution are my two favorites... Can't go wrong with either and you get a mix of flavors, Sense (ARHD) and CM7 based (Absolution). I randomly switch between these two but Absolution has more development and updates happening than does ARHD.
thanks i tried absolution ... amazing but the one true downfall has been horrible wifi ... will try a new radio and see if that fixes things though
