Hi I'm new here and I am very sad because my 3G Slide got wet at the front (even the wet marks at the back and an the battery are not red) and since then my screen its not responseve at all in several sectors, in others wasnt at first but now its working, i would like to ask if some knows if this can be fixed with just time or my digitizer is already broken and i need a new one, i think the mainboard is ok because the phone is fully fuctional with the qwerty keyboard and the trackpad thank you
How long ago did it get wet?
My wife dropped her phone in the toilet..none of the water marks changed color but the screen never worked again..she took it back to tmobile and told them she didn't know what happened..they said they do instore tradins now for the slide for nonfunctioning phones and gave her a brand new one..

Oh, so its ok now? Haha. Well not that same phone, but you've got a replacement, right?
I was gonna suggest that rice thing, but I don't even know if that would do anything.

I dropped my phone the other day and had thought the case had protected it since there were no scratches, but I guess not. The touch pad (the black square beneath the screen) will respond to swipes like normal but I cant press it in =/ Before I disassemble my phone I figured I would ask if anyone had any suggestions.
So if you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
send it for replacement... Don't break it apart when you can still send it in. Tell customers services that you where using it one day and realize that it won't work. Are you from a g2?

Yea its the G2, but I have had it since pre order, its probably to long ago to send it in now.
Yeah, I'm having a very similar issue. Mine clicks, and clicks register with the OS, but it's... sticky? It feels like there's dried soda or something under it. Of course, there's not. I haven't spilled anything on my phone before. Maybe if we ask T-Mo nicely, they'll send us replacements?
Hi everyone, I ended up calling T-Mobile about my G2 because the LCD flickers when the brightness is turned down (I've seen other posts about this so I'm luckily not alone) and I should be getting my new phone next week. I was worried about being charged one of those out of warranty fees on my phone because there are a few marks on it? I'm not rooted, all the water damage stickers are still white, and the void sticker is in tact. The grey phone casing has a little damage because I have the T-Mobile gel case the clips scrape the phone when you take it off. I was wondering what anyone's experiences are with sending your phone back? I value everyone's opinion and I'm also curious. I added a couple of pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. Thanks for any input!
The battery door has a few marks but they aren't dents, it just looks strange.
Also, I've googled and it seems like when tmobile sends me a phone and not the insurance company, I get a refurbished phone? Instead of a brand new one? I don't care I'm just wondering.
Well yes T-Mobile will send you New or like new phone. Also dont worry about the damage. As long as the phone is not in parts.

They will send you a refurb. It won't have a battery or battery door. Make sure everything works on the one they send you. I had to get 3 of them before I got one that worked 100%. The first one didn't have the holder for the sd card and the second one the touchscreen didn't work at the top when in portrait. I could never pull down the bar. Check EVERYTHING!

My girlfriend has a Evo 4g that sumhow got wet, she swears water was never around it but she'sa girl so wut do I no... Anyways, we put it in rice for 2 days then took it out and haven't used it for about a week, screen still doesn't work, everything else perfectly fine. So my brother has a old hd2 wit a broken digitizer but the screen works, would it be possible to replace my girlfriends evo screen with his hd2 screen? I'm pretty sure they came out round the same time and they are the same size.. jus wanted to ask sum pros before I go messin up a whole fone for no reason
Thanks!
Maybe, if they both have the same size/type of ribbon connector.
Yeah I had that Thot after I took it apart.. if the screen only has 2 ribbons would that make it not work?
That's probably your problem. If the HD2 screen has two ribbon connectors, then it needs both of them to work. Which the EVO only has one connector for the digitizer.
U cannot do that it will not end up good pm me with any other questions
Hit the thanks button if i helped
Ill start from the begining, I bought my phone about a month ago brand new from T-Mobile. The next day as I was getting into my car the phone slid out of my pocket and into the hole in the seat in between it and the center console, when I retrieved it there was a fine crack going across the screen. The LCD was not cracked and the phone functioned perfectly.
The next day after this while the phone was in my pocket the screen cracked again. Again the LCD was working fine. About a week later I sent the phone in for repairs (just a random guy nothing official as T-Mobile, Samsung and Asurion said I was SOL).
After about a week turn around I received the phone back, working perfectly and the screen fixed. About a day or two later the screen started freaking out (picking things I didnt touch and flying through the home screens on its own). Then all of a sudden the lower portion of the screen (just a little bit bigger than the lower app row) just stopped responding to touch all together.
I just now removed the screen myself thinking that be botched putting the screen back on. The LCD is in perfect condition. No burn marks, cracks, discolored pixels, anything. I then removed the case checking all the connection on the motherboard and everything seems secure.
I dont know what else to do maybe someone here can give me some suggestions or ideas. If all else fails I will file a claim and get a new one through asurion. Im just trying all my options before I burn more $$$ on this phone.
Thank you ahead of time for any help.

Sounds like a defective digitizer. Have you talked to the guy who did the replacement?

Ive tried but hes not responding to my text/calls
Call once more leave your name number and issue. If you dont hear back within 3-4 business days, call from a different number and plan constructively how to broach the issue. call recording might be an idea.

It was a paypal transaction, I just went ahead a filed a refund notice to his email.
Curious, why would Asurion say you are sol, isnt that what they are for? Isnt it accident insurance?
Guys I need help with this.
On may I sent my phone to warranty due to the faulty motherboard that killed my phone. The second day I got it back I noticed a small golden spot in the screen but I didnt really pay attention. I got used to it and I really didn't notice the spot going bigger. I quit my job so I kinda stopped using my phone like I used to, now I just load WhatsApp from the browser and thats it.
During july I noticed that the spot became even bigger and just the day I lost my 1 year warranty the spot became even bigger and there was a second one. Today I noticed a new one. The thing just happens overnight... WTH??
It's like the screen is peeling off beneath the screen, if I push it down it kind goes away while keeping it pressed but if I remove the pressure the spot comes back again.
Why is this happening? I don't want to replace the screen just to have it happen to me again specially since the screen will cost me a lot to replace here in Mexico. Even if I buy the screen myself from Repair Universe (is it safe?).
Is this humidity?
Yes it is humidity my friend. Friend's G4 has the same problem after he droped it in water, just his marks are REALLY BIGG
Dang it!
The replacement is $85USD but Im not sure if I should change it right now, wait or probably get a new phone
Thanks!
