AT&T might not actually be getting the TP2(fortress)?

Hey guys First post. and i wanted it to be good so here we go. I was looking around on some sites to see if there is any new word on the release date or anything, cause my phone is really outdated. So i stopped by Wmexperts.com and reading some HTC stuff, and came across an article(end) and it said that US Cellular shows rebates and stuff for the Touch Pro 2. Well, only 4 passed the FCC, and thats one sprint verizon tmobile and a ______. Well would this be true if it shows rebates, will AT&T ever get the TP2?

Just because ATT clears FCC with this phone doesn't mean it'll happen... If memory serves me right, ATT had the Samsung i900 cleared to go last year, also, and that didn't happen
But not saying the TP2 won't happen, either...

ok, i have seen these posts before, but did the FCC say that that specific one would be AT&T's model to be sold on the shelfs?

it doesn't make any sense that ATT would miss out on the TP2. we shouldn't look into this too much. ATT will be getting their variant of the TP2. we just need to be patient [:

really? I can. They are the only ones getting the new iphone and with all their sights set on it, i wouldn't be surprised at all if they ignored the Touch Pro completely. Give how many iPhone users their are, and how many would jump on the upgrade, id say they dont see the TP2 as much of a thing to bother with, while the other carriers Need it just to compete with the iPhone.

for most AT&T customers on these forums, I hope you are wrong lyian...
in my eyes, the TP2 will completely overshadow the iPhone, regardless of how fast the 3GS is.
and, knowing ATT, they would be remiss if they didn't pick up the TP2. I mean cmon, they could make much more money with both the TP2 and the iPhone on their store shelves.

Oh i hope im wrong too, but its hard for me to think i can be. But understand all this that ive said is only from my perspective. I live in a college town, and i swear if i had a dollar for every iPhone i saw on campus every single day id be a very rich man. Two of my friends alone have them and they arnt students! iPhones are Every dam where over here. So for atleast the ATT stores here, the iPhone is king, much as i hate that idea.
I will say tho, that when i went into best buy to get a charger, i showed the cellphone guy my phone and he was like "ah HTC, yea, they're about the only phones worth running Windows Mobile on these days" hehe i just smiled

Remember the rumor involving the Barium? Hmm.... I would get the more featured OmniaPro before an ATT phone that doesn't tilt, even w/o 3G!

I have to agree with Lyian on this one. At my college some students doing a statistics project about cell phones found out that over 61% of the campus was using some sort of iPhone (2G-3G) and that another 20% or so were using a LG envy of some sort. I found this to not so surprising. I myself am using the iPhone (I know I know). I gave up on my old HTC 8525 due to the sluggishness of windows mobile. But now that I see the overhaul HTC has done with their Touch Interface, I really want one bad.
I popped into the ATT Shop yesterday and asked all the clerks and even asked to speak to the manager if they had any word on the HTC Touch Pro 2 or code-name ATT Fortress and they hadn't the slightest idea what I was talking about. Instead they kept showing me over to the iPhone 3G S and trying to get me to buy that instead (I told them I was looking to upgrade)
With ATT having the iPhone (and just getting the 3G S) they really is no need for them to push this phone out anytime soon. Maybe the 'changes' they will make to the phone will be there as to not overshadow their signature phone
Maybe I should just get the 2G TP2...

but they have released both the tilt and fuze; both of which were released along side the iphone. why would they stop now? i really believe that at&t markets these phones to two completely different markets; the fun young crowd (iphone) and the more business oriented customers (touch pro2). at&t has released an updated htc device every october/november. i dont see this being any different.

two reasons.
1. With each iPhone release, the sale of that model phone has been better than the last. Im sure the 3gs will outsell the 3g. At first they were all about the HTC phones, then the iPhone came out, and while they may have been holding on to the HTC phones as a 'just in case', they likely feel pretty secure in their sales of the iPhone and dont have to worry about it not being a good seller.
2. Apple is making more business like apps available to try to merge into that selling market as well. Now they arnt nearly as flexible as something on a Winmo(especially with the limited interface of the iPhone) but thats not the point, and i doubt ATT cares much.
I bet if you look at the HTC phones vs the iPhone sales, their would be a major difference. Perhaps they so much more potential profit from the 3gs release, that they don't see a need to bother with the Pro2
But who knows.. All any of us can do is wait and see what ATT ends up doing.

Either way they're making money, the data plan is the same price, why not offer both and give more options to their customers? makes no sense for them not to carry it, and I'm almost sure they will carry it. However its probably not gonna hit till october...

At least two people from xda have seen it, so I don't think this thread is meaningful anymore.
Besides, the assumption made is questionable, since U.S. Cellular is on CDMA, not GSM

AT&T Owners: Ready to Tell AT&T to Kiss Off?

I'm pretty much at my breaking point with this company. Between empty promises, botched hardware and being the last of the majors to even release the new technology, let's just state what goes without saying: AT&T should rename themselves to iPhoneT&T because they've apparently bet the farm on that overrated piece of crap and in turn have thrown their Windows Mobile business clients under the bus.
No amount of excuse makes sense or matters any more. The iPhone 3GS has been on the market for plenty of time. If someone was gonna buy it, they'd have bought it by now. If they were waiting for WinMo 6.5, they could have released it as an update rather than making their clients wait while every other major phone company released it. Not to mention the fact that the "consortium" of US carriers have kept HTC from releasing unlocked versions for U.S. consumers. God forbid they didn't get their over-charging grubby hands on a few extra shekels. For the love of everything sacred, HTC is already leaking the HTC Leo and I have yet to see a TP2 outside of a T-Mobile showroom!
AT&T has lost it's focus and I'm at the point where waiting for them to get off their sorry butts to release a phone (of which they're going to screw up the hardware, let's be frank) has become a near impossibility and I'm about ready to jump ship.
That leads me to two questions: Who's with me and where the heck should I go?

Hey I feel your pain I am still using the Hermes from 3 years ago. I really want this phone but I can't do Sprint (Not enough custom ROM's etc) and Verizon well they just totally suck!! T-mobile is an option but coverage isn't that great here and there is no 3G and I have heard the sound volume is sucky on that one for some reason.
So I am stuck for now. As far as the whole 6.5 thing it really doesn't matter to me because I would just be using a custom ROM from here anyway but I really have no choice but to wait
While the Leo looks bad as hell I think its the first time I have actually thought hmmm maybe that phone is just too damn big for me lol

They've got the iDud and all the money and glory that goes along with it, do you think they give a crap about the Touch Pro 2?

Just my personal experience and I told myself long ago I would never give them my money again because of the things they do.
Most of their phones you can't send files like pics and ringtones via bluetooth because that profile is taken out. Alot of phone have GPS locked and WIFI taken out etc.
Again thats just my personal opinion.

They used to do those things, that's true, but no more, all their smartphones (and regular phones) come with all features (like GPS, Bluetooth OBEX, etc.) intact and ready for use. They have also released ROM updates for many devices, like the original Touch Pro and Omnia that unlock the GPS on them. They said they'd do it, and they did, I am surprised but pretty happy they have

Thats probably true but at this point its the principle of the matter because I have way too many options in my area. Besides they are also the most expensive.

We've got 5 carriers, AT&T (formerly Edge Wireless here, an AT&T affiliate), Verizon, US Cellular, Metro PCS and as of this summer/fall, T-Mobile, who is just building out in our area. In terms of actual coverage, it goes like this-
1.US Cellular
2.Verizon
3.AT&T
4.Metro PCS
5.T-Mobile (they are just building out, hence the low rating).
Sprint and Nextel have licenses to serve our area as well, but have never built out a network here. Sprint roams on US Cellular, and Nextel phones are just dead paperweights.

Oh it's obvious that they don't give a crap about it. My problem is that they want to have their cake and eat it too. "We don't give a crap about Windows Mobile users and we'll release the phones we're going to whenever we darn well please, but we want to be sure that HTC doesn't give people the opportunity to buy it before we make it available."
The fact that they keep the manufacturer from releasing an unlocked version that will work here is criminal. It's almost a cellular monopoly but in the sense that the carriers have gotten together as a team in an effort to remove choice from the consumer. They can claim all they want that you can still buy one from the manufacturer but that's like saying you can only buy a Porsche in the US from a Porsche dealer. If you order one from overseas, not only will you pay significantly more, we're also going to replace the engine with one from a 1987 Ford Escort.
Why can't we just buy the phone we want from whoever we choose and let that be that. I still have to pay for service any way you cut it. They can't be making THAT much money of the device itself anyway!

I'm cruising along just fine on my Kaiser till AT&T gets the Tilt 2 like they want it.
Everything I've read leads me to believe it's a great device and worth the wait. If I get 2 years out of a Tilt 2 like I have my Tilt 1, it's all good.

I felt exactly as you did and changing carriers wasn’t really an answer. After all, by buying from any carrier you are supporting HTC and the local carriers who arrange/force HTC not to release phones with US 3G bands.
The ONLY way this is going to change is if the customers (YOU) change.
Personally, I have decided I will NOT sign any 2 year commitment and I will NOT be forced to buy a data plan, and I will NOT support HTC who is allowing ATT and others to bully them into not releasing world phones with US 3G bands.
The solution is simple, buy from a company who DOES NOT DO THIS. Personally, I went with the Samsung Omnia 2. If that is not your cup of tea, look at Nokia’s or even the Sony X2 which is due out soon. Support the companies that are releasing phones with US 3G bands.
The only way the local carriers are going to change (or HTC) is if enough of us speak with our money and take our business elsewhere. That is the only way things will change. Whining about it on a forum isn’t going to have any effect.
Good luck to you and I hope you do speak with your wallet by taking your business to other phone manufacturers.

While I'm certainly not enjoying the wait to upgrade my 8525, I don't really see the issue with them waiting for WinMo 6.5. Sucks for me, but then I know the carrier is going to fully support it. Are all the other carriers going to have 6.5 upgrades ready and waiting on Oct 6th?
Also I feel like I'm in the minority, but my experience with AT&T has been great. Their 3G coverage in my area is fantastic. I'm not a big fan of AT&T as a company, but I have a hard time arguing with the service I receive.

I've been waiting on ATT for what seems like forever. Think I'm going over to Sprint in a week or two so I can try out both the TP2 and the Hero then decide which one I want. Not to mention the monthly cost will be significantly reduced compared to ATT.
Have a newb question. I know there is a different hardspl for the Sprint version, that isn't out yet as far as I can tell, but once hardspl is out will all the roms, software, etc. for the other versions work on the CDMA version? If not I might be stuck waiting on ATT and paying too much for service.

Let's see, you don't have a TP2, don't even have an HTC phone, and are advocating that all of us also refuse to buy HTC altogether so WTF are you doing here in a forum dedicated primarily to HTC phones? It seems to me that if you really were serious about your little boycott you would put your money where your mouth is and "take your business elsewhere."

I highly doubt it.

i think the main reason att hasnt released the touch pro 2 is that their network isnt ready to handle all the data the will be running on those devices, they have already alot of activity from the 3gs , also they are waiting to release it with windows 6.5 so that will be a plus because it will be definite that it will be fully supported, just my .02

Ditto, Verizon (coverage and unlocked GSM sim card), sprint if they have good coverage in your area (4G),

I would have jumped ship if not for the fact that it would cost me a minimum of $30/month more on any other carrier compared to my grandfathered plan.
So in the meantime my Tilt is enough to keep me going, though my patience is very thin at this point. I just want to know a release date (price too would be nice). That would at least make the waiting more bearable knowing when it would end.

Leave AT&T cause they release a phone 2 months after others? Doubly a solid reason.
I like AT&T, I like their prices (I pay $20 for unlim internet, + $70 for 2 phones (700 mins)). Plus their rollover feature is cool, I got like 4.8K minutes accumulated (way too much I know).
Plus their customer service is awesome, they've repeatedly forgiven me $200-$300 on my account when I went way out of limit (about 4 years ago). My friend with Verizon was so jealous.
Just hang tight, AT&T's tilt 2 will be out in Nov '09.

Do you think the current issues will get better?

Sorry if this sounds silly. But I switched to sprint 4 days ago from ATT, and I was really expecting good things. But to be honest, it's been pretty ugly. I mean I love the phone, but the network has been nearly terrible. I was getting much better speeds before I switched (and I left an unlimited plan). Now I'm kinda freaked because I have 10 days to cancel, but even if I do I don't think I can get my unlimited back (although maybe tmobile I could idk).
Anyway, seems like many of you have been with Sprint for years and idk if maybe you have seen issues like this before with new phones or what. So if you have, did things get better? How long did it take? Because right now I really feel like I made a mistake.

Sprint is doing a network upgrade which will bring faster speeds to the network. Because they are working on the network, you experience slow speeds. I don't know how long it will take them to finish it but it's going to be worth the wait imo. Sprint is making good strides but you just have to be patient

Yeah, just hope it's not like the highway by my house that's been getting repaired for 3 years.

It's understandable to be worried, but I would not get yourself too worked up. Network upgrade strategies are suspected to be announced on Oct. 7th and should be deployed rather quickly if Sprint is to stay afloat with the barrage of data hungry iPhone customers they will acquire... that is, if they have any idea of what they are getting themselves into.
You have yourself an absolutely amazing phone. I would say stick with AT&T or Verizon if you're in an area that's very rural and gets little to no signal, no doubt.
If you're really having doubts so bad that they're keeping you up at night, you are probably better off with canceling your contract within your grace period and resigning after upgrade plans are finalized. This phone is on AT&T as well, so if you were happier with them, that might be a better option for you.

The signal at my house is not all that bad, but the signal where I need it the most is where I work (when I tether). And that is not very good, but I guess it's passable (i'm on it right now). I just really thought it was going to be a big boost and it's not.

Sprint is unlimited... for now.
I've always been a huge advocate for Sprint and I've literally converted almost my entire family and group of friends to Sprint. Unfortunately, the iPhone has a way of dramatically changing a carrier's business model (as seen by their recent wave of changes to their service contract).

I hate to give you even more bad advice but in most areas t mobile is at the very bottom. If sprint is giving you a hard time then t mobile is going to be a few steps in the wrong direction. I am thinking that the network upgrade will be a long wait.

Possible switch to T Mobile.

I put this here because if I did switch, I would be getting this phone.
Basically, my contract runs out soon on Verizon, I really dislike the company and they're pricey, I have a few friends who are on TMo who swear its good despite me hearing lots of negative things.
Can someone give me an overall idea what to expect about this phone and TMo in general.

I really love T-Mo, and they have great service. If you're not moving to another country, get them. They are the cheapest, and have the best customer service. The only reason to be on VZW is if you can't get service with T-Mo or Sprint.

tmo isnt bad, its an ok company, its nice and cheap.

it's arguably the best tmobile phone out right now
tmobile is best used in populated cities. So if your house and the places you frequent doesn't have good service then don't bother.
their customer service is actually really good, but i found that it really depends when you call. Some people you talk to are.... well... out of the country and don't care much. But most of the time, they will help you out. Billing problems, warranty exchanges, you name it! I've called in multiple times and have them switch main account holder numbers around over and over and over again without any problems.
I assume you're deciding between the amaze and gs2, well, coming from the amaze.. the amaze is a beautiful phone, hardware and specs.. they're interchangeable with the gs2.... BUT battery life sucks. end of story. One thing i miss from it... the camera!

I know this could be subject to bias, how's the Sensation?

I'm leaving Verizon soon myself. For me it seems like my only option is T-Mobile because on att I'll end up paying the same amount for the same services.

people escaped the sensation to go to the amaze.. people escaped the amaze to go to the gs2
people escaped samsung older models (vibrant/s4g) and went to the sensation/amaze and then... yeahhh
people escaped the gs2 and went to the galaxy nexus (some came back). They also went to the amaze and started loving the camera and sense ui (beautiful, but battery consuming)
i see you're using a droid 2... yeah you'll love any of these phones compared to that lol
I go through a lot of phones. I've made a lot of compare and contrast reviews on the amaze and gs2 (throw out the sensation)
what most people liked about the gs2 is the battery life (comparable or sometimes better than an iphone 4) and the screen
what people like about the amaze is... the qhd (too bad for washed out screen), the UI sense 3/3.5 is an eyecatcher (not everyone likes it, but it is "pretty"), but best thing of all is the camera and the dedicated buttons.
The amaze camera is the best out of any phones right now amaze>4s>gs2.

Been with Tmobile since they bought out voice stream, no plans on leaving.

I had the Sensation, got it for $150 over the summer, and stupidly returned it thinking I'd get a better price later on. Ended up having to pay $260 for a GS2 many months later. Both phones are good. I find myself missing the Sensation because I prefer a high resolution screen over a large, low-resolution AMOLED display. The curved glass and overall feel of the Sensation is very solid. What I like about the Galaxy SII is that I find it especially easy to type on, and it's light to the point where if you drop it, nothing at all will happen (in my experience.. don't go deliberately dropping it). I was excited to get the GSII to use the NFC, but so far there are no worthwhile uses for it; Google Wallet does not work yet at this point. I would love this phone if I were able to hook up my transit pass to it, though, as they both use NFC. Overall, if I were to pick the GSII vs the Sensation all over again, I would pick the Sensation due to preference and price. When I purchased the GSII, my mindset was that I'd get the latest and greatest, but the Sensation is definitely up to par with the GSII (300 MHz in processor speed makes no difference), and I prefer the look and feel of the device over the GSII. My advice is to simply go to a store and check both out. You can always order over the phone, and then try out each phone for a week or so and see which one you like best (I say order it over the phone because returning it won't require a restocking fee, while if you purchased it in-store, returning has a $50 restocking fee.)
As for T-Mobile service, I love it. I get full bars everywhere in my area, but I live in the suburbs of a city. If I go very far out, my connection will become horrible. So I'd say look at a network coverage map and decide for yourself. If you don't live in an urban area, I'd think twice about T-Mobile. As for the customer service, it used to be amazing, but now I would say it's OK.. nothing special at all. They don't really care too much about the customer anymore, and won't do much to give you discounts, etc. There are also lots of fees. Coming from Verizon, I'm sure it can only get better when it comes to the pocket, though. Good luck.

I have Tmobile and love them.. Service in my area equals that of att and verizion or sprint.. And the always hook me up because ive been with them for awhile.. I dont see myself ever leaving

Tmobile rocks imo.

I just switched to Tmobile from Verizon last month and I am very happy. Service is solid in populated areas. Once you move more out into the middle of nowhere you will not get 3g. The speeds are not quite lte speeds but you can't complain about getting 6-14 mb/s down or higher. I was lucky to get 1 mb/s down on att when I tried them before making the move to Tmobile. I also noticed that Tmobile has really good call quality. It seems better then Verizon and ATT.

I agree, get the sensation or the vibrant and wait a year or so till t-mobile gets a better phone than the GS2.

Go for it, man. I made the switch from Verizon & haven't looked back. T-Mobile has been a much better experience overall. Had a mt4g, then a sensation & now a sgs2. You can't lose with this device, as nothing better is gonna be out soon... (late this year) probably...

I agree more or less with everything said. Of course, this is a very generalized question and experiences will vary in different regions, but I live in a fairly rural area near a smaller city (3G) where I work. My voice coverage, even in rural areas, is excellent. In the city my data speeds run about 2mbps but outside (2G) I'm lucky to get 512 kbps. Not a big deal as I have wifi at home and most time spent away from home is in the city.

I can't said the same n Puerto Rico tmo sux the only great think is unlimited data,calls, roaming for 59.99 but the signal sux

My contract expires in May so I would have to decide to either stay and use my upgrade or just lower the plan until then so I can pay almost nothing.

switched from ATT to verizon, picked up another gnex, GSM vs CDMA, my review

i had a gsm gnex on ATT, friday i ditched ATT and picked up verizon, loved my gnex, so i got a new one for my wife and i. here are my impressions of the differences between the gsm and cdma versions
first, i was easily able to use one click to unlock and root both gsm and cdma versions. the cdma did not require any special treatment to unlock, cwm, root and install 3rd party roms. it was the EXACT same procedure as the GSM.
physical differences, the cdma is just slightly thicker, honestly, i can barely tell, but, my cruzerlite case fit both just fine. the cdma feels slightly heavier, but not enough to make a difference. the power button feels harder to push in over my GSM version though, not a big deal though.
the screen on the CDMA version is perfect, my GSM had the typical banding streaks, cdma version, screen is crystal clear.
battery life was better on my GSM, but this is probably due to LTE
i never thought i would need over 16gb, since i have never had more than that on any device, but, i will say i will never have less than 32gb again, lol. the extra storage is nice! no more deleting music or backups just to install a game!
signal strength is about the same in different areas (home, work, places i frequent), but the LTE speeds are worlds difference over HSPA
all in all, the talk about the verizon gnex not a real gnex, not sure where or why that came about, it looks, feels and performs the same as my GSM.

Maybe it's time to learn how to use adb and fastboot..

One difference between the GSM and CDMA Nexus is that you can use the GSM Nexus on Straight Talk Sim (Att or Tmo) for $45 per month and the Verizon one will cost you anywhere between $85-$110 per months. Over the course of 2 years you could save around $700+ by using GSM, if I did my math right (Verizon phone is subsidized, GSM is unsubsidized).

i have multi line family plans, discounted from work. att was $160 per month, 700 minutes shared, 200 texts each month, 2 gb data on main line, 200mb on all others. verizon is $125, 4gb shared data plan, unlimited all others.
straight talk is cool if you're trying to save money, but, i can't rely on a straight talk service with running a business off my devices.

You are right. I guess it depends on how many lines you have. Shared data does probably benefit a person with three or more lines. For a single line or two lines, Straight Talk Sim is a way better option though, because you get 2+gigs of data with unlimited calls and text on each line.

It is really nice to be able to switch carriers as needed as opposed to "Here it comes were shoving it up your *** enjoy the year and a half you have left on your plan." Prepay is the only way for me. I come from sprint the land of "We"ll have that 4g\lte working any day now!" I don't miss it at all.

From what i understand straight talk runs off att and\or tmobile towers i'm not sure what type of "service" your business needs? 4gb shared cap can quickly be reached on multi lines.

The reason it's not considered a true nexus is not really the phone it's the carrier The phone is great, its the 2 moron companies Verizon and sprint that jack around forever waiting to let the updates come through for the nexus. It becomes somewhat ordinary when the gsm gets it and you are still waiting......but you most likely know all this. I'm sure lte is great but on a 4gb shared cap it's not that big of a deal.

i dropped att 7 months into the contract, no fees, they were not providing me with the data speeds i needed, i was able to leave contract because of this. just because you're in a contract, doesn't mean you can't get out if they are not providing you with the service you signed up for.

like i said, i came from 2GB + 200mb + 200mb on my lines and never went over. on verizon i have 4gb (more than enough) and it's faster (rarely got over 1mb down on att, and any other time the signal was spotty and unreliable, getting between 7 and 10mb down now. yes, the straight talk plans run off of att/tmobile networks, same as others. but, in my area, the att network was crap, so regardless if i'm saving $18 per line or not, i'd rather have a network i can rely on. see below for an example of my lightning fast, reliable att network

you and i both know that anyone here, should care less about OTA updates. i think friday was the first time, in over 10 years of smart phones/pdas, that i have ever done an OTA update.

It's too bad your Att is that slow. I can get anywhere between 3-7mbs down with Straight Talk Att. You can get 4gigs (maybe eve more) of data with 2 Straight Talk lines for $90 total per month ($45 for each line). That's a lot less than $125 per month, and its contract free. But I understand you gotta have decent coverage, it's worth nothing without coverage.

This phone (gsm) version is the first one i have felt i didn't NEED to do something to. It's nice just to be able to run it as google intended it to be rather than root/rom so it brings it to the point where it's enjoyable. That's what makes the cdma version a little weak, you are FORCED to do something if you want latest and greatest. Will most people root/rom the cdma and gsm versions? I suppose, but it's really nice to not feel like you HAVE to. Did it feel nice to do that ota update? It's almost like moving into a modern world. Ten years of messing with phones to get it right? Seems at this point we should know what to buy and from which carrier to buy it from to make our lives a little easier, don't you think?

I don't know if you've seen a Verizon nexus or not, but i feel the same way about not needing to flash a Rom right out of the box. I just got my nexus about a week ago, and 15 minutes after i got it activated, i got the jellybean update. It's as pure Google as they come. The only apps Verizon has on there was My Verizon Mobile and backup assistant. I used to have a droid charge, and I'm glad to say that the nexus was a welcome change. The only thing i really had to do to it was install the Swype keyboard, and it's perfect (for now).

This isn't the case with sprint, we switched (my family) to Verizon from Sprint, every line had to pay 150$ i think. Data was spotty and Verizon had brought Lte to our little area in VA. meanwhile, sprint was discontinuing the rollout of Wimax and began creating their LTE towers, so there was no way we were waiting for that again. We had already had wimax 4g phones so we needed new phones anyway. Long story short, Sprints unlimited data is useless in many suburban and even urban areas.

here's what i did to get out, no fees.
i called tech support because i suddenly stopped getting signal at work. they opened a ticket, called me back the next day saying it was "resolved". i had no change. i started losing reception at home, and the signal started getting spotty everywhere else. i call tech support again, they tell me it's my phone, ok, i have plenty of extras, so i swap sim into another phone, same results. they tell me my sim needs to be exchanged and reprovisioned and i need to go to the att store to do so. i go to the att store, they stare at me like i was speaking a foreign language and basically tell me "no". i go back home, call tech support, they tell me go back to store, they will call the store. i go back to the store, talk to rep, he now knows what to do. so he gets a new sim, reprovisions it, then tells me to run a speed test, because this will fix all my problems. i ran it, 80kbs, he was like, uh... i call tech support from my phone with the sales rep, the line was so staticy the tech rep had to call us back at the store, tech support tells me there's nothing more they can do and that their policy is they can't guarantee service everywhere. i then contacted the BBB, teh FCC and the attorney generals office for complaints. i then get a call back from the office of executives at att, my line was so staticy that they immediately cancelled the account right there.
if you are plagued with issues, you can get out of the contract. the BBB is a great resource, they have to respond to close out the complaint filed with the BBB
