No Sim Card suddenly! - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

I'm running Myn's Donut with Warbyte's QVGA Kernel. Yesterday, it was alright. Today it isnt.
I went to sleep while the battery was 56% and in the morning when I wake up, my phone was turned off. I plugged in the charger, it started giving me Force Close on everything. Sim card not detected.
I managed to put warbyte's donut installed once the battery was upto 20% (on same kernel). Now its running well but SIMCARD is no more available. When I search in mobile operators, I see all of them available. When I selected my operator, it said its successfully registered but still sim card is unavailble so I cant call or send any SMS either.
What is the problem? is my sim card KIA or should I flash something different
HUGE EDIT:
Solved my self, placed a paper in the back of sim card and inserted it. Viola! (No idea why suddenly this happened but everything is fine now). My Sim card isnt as FAT as it should be but WHY it worked before. Oh well, miracles! kids these days :|

TP2 not reading memory card

I have had my tp2 for a few months now and never had any problems with it, have had the memory card installed and working fine also, booting android from it many times. I was trying to open a file for Nostradamus mobile shell widgets and all the sudden my memory card just stopped showing.
I tried soft resetting multiple times, removing the card and putting it back in more than a few times. The phone doesn't show the card at all now, even synced with my computer it doesn't show it.
Any idea for what may have happened or how to fix this? None of the programs that I have installed to the card will work now that the phone doesn't read it. HELP!
have you tried plugging the card into your computer via a memory card reader? or another card?
I'd recommend doing both to figure out if the problem lies with your card or with your device.
best of luck
Hi,
Not sure if this helps, but I've had this twice in the lifetime of my device (European GSM, stock ROM, Touch Pro2). I used a Sandisk 16GB card, bought off the shelf from a major UK retailer (Phones 4U) and it worked great for about 6 months. Then suddenly one day, the TP2 stopped seeing the card. Not in Explorer, not in the "Memory" settings application, nowhere.
The card had never been out of the device, not had it (or the device) been in humidity, dusty situations, been subjected to shock etc. Just normal use. I tried the card in a PC card reader and attempted to format it. The PC would format it to about 80% then fail.
I took the card back to the retailer and exchanged it. Same thing happened another 3 months down the line, same issues. I'm on card 3 now and it's lasted about 8 months now.
tl;dr, try formatting it in a PC card reader, else it's an exchange/new card you'll need.
Adam.
Fixed!
Alright thanks to both of you for the advice, I did take my card out and try it in my girlfriends digital camera and it recognized it right away without a problem so I knew the card was still good. I lost the card reader for it so I formatted the card with the menu inside her camera, popped it back into my TP2 and it works again!
thanks again for the help guys!

[Q&A] Wimax / 4G not working on new phone

I recently got a replacement Evo, my old one had a hardware problem and it would reboot by itself a lot and was driving me nuts. When I got my replacement Evo, things seemed to be working fine at first. The store associate put my old SD card in my new phone, because I had stuff on it and my pictures and music were still there and I was happy.
Then I got home and turned on Wimax (4G) and it would go into a "Scanning...." --> "Connecting to Sprint" --> "Scanning" loop and after a while it said "Disconnected". I was upset, my second (it looks brand new, but could be a refurb) Evo also is faulty? I didn't want to root it or anything, because if I had to take it back I'd have to revert that.
Called customer support and they sent an "over the air refresh". I had tried "update profile" multiple times before that. I did a battery pull, another factory reset, but no joy. I didn't have another line to call them with (they said "if this does not work, call us back from another line"), so I couldn't really do much.
Then as part of trying everything I could, I took out the SD card and turned it on. BAM! The 4g widget came on and I got a connection. Very fast as usual, 11-13 Mbps. I turned off the phone, put the SD Card back in and turned it on again, and 4G wouldn't connect. I went into Menu->Settings->Sd card and storage, unmounted the SD card and also touched the message in the notification area that said "now you can remove the card", then 4G connected again. Then, with 4G still on, I re-mounted the SD card (same menu setting), used it for a while and then turned off 4G. It started connecting fine from that point onwards.
So if you see issues turning Wimax/4g on, first try removing your SD Card. It's a simple and easy step and you can eliminate that variable before looking into things that take more time and effort for troubleshooting.
I'm not sure what it's doing with the SD card, but it sure does look like it may be writing some sort of settings onto the card and trying to read it before it connects properly.
Good information. Thank you for sharing it and I will definitely keep this in mind. Take care...
I have never heard of this. Strange to say the least, but very good to know. Thank you

[Q] Carrier problem with my GNex

Hello guys!
Hopefully you can help me with this one. Since 2 days ago, my GNex stopped being able to connect to my current carrier: Koodo (Telus' affiliate brand here in Canada). Now I initially thought it was a problem coming from the company's SIM card, and that it would've been relied to the Rogers shortage that occurred a couple days ago, but it wasn't. The symptoms are simple, no way to connect to the carrier. It happened randomly as I did not perform anything unusual with the phone, aside from connecting it via USB to my computer (which I often do). It does recognize that a SIM card is inserted and that Koodo is indeed a carrier, but when I click on it in my Network Operators menu, it tells me it can't connect and to try again later. When I click any other carrier, it says the same. So far here are the steps I took, with no success.
1. Removed both battery/SIM for a minute or more then rebooted. (Also made sure that 2G was off)
2. Called a Koodo tech guy who updated the SIM.
3. Went in store to try and put my SIM in a different phone, SIM worked fine.
4. Lady tried installing a different SIM card (her own), still same problem. Tried a brand new one, still not working.
5. Backed up my pictures and factory reset the phone. Same problem.
6. Took SIM out, and the phone does recognize there is not a SIM card and now the phone gives me the NO SIM CARD message at unlock screen.
7. Tried clearing the "Google Services Framework" cache, then update the phone but no update is found after multiple attempts.
8. Browsed the internet for hours then cried myself to sleep, hoping someone would help me out eventually.
By the way I'm using the same SIM in a different phone right now, and it works flawlessly. The phone was purchased on the Play Store and is factory unlocked. It is unrooted, and it was running 4.2.2 and now runs 4.2.1
Thanks!

SIM Card inserted, Restart to access SIM Service. !!!!

Sorry guys I have recently purchase an SM-P601, (for about 2 weeks ago), It's amazing tablet ever i have, and also root it while it has continue Warranty period.
Few days ago, I inserted a SIM card into the tablet, it said "SIM Card inserted, reboot to access SIM Service", but it's quite bizarre - after reboot the tablet seem not recognize SIM card it said the same message pop up and required to reboot again. I follow the process (do reboot about 10 times).
Remind that: i freeze some services via Titanium backup that i believed all of them is bloatware.
After 10 times reboot, i did restore from TWRP (the backup i use for the first time i rooted the tablet) and this time it's fine. The tablet recognize the SIM card and no more reboot, 3G access like a cup-cake.
I tried to freeze less bloatware than later, it seem ok and no problem until now, Tablet doesn't recognize SIM anymore, the signal column is still 4-5 bars while the tablet said No SIM inserted. This time tablet doesn't required reboot anymore.
I wonder if anyone see the issue similar to me, and if anyone has solution for it please help me.
In worst scenario, i will try to go to Samsung Service to claim Warranty (about SIM reader replacement - but cross finger and hope they will do - regardless i tripped the knox flag into x1).
*update*: On the way to RMA, I returned to retailer first, and at there they said they will help me to return to Samsung Services. Cross finger and hope it's gonna be fine.
Read This and I just think if SIM Card holder is some kind of clipper or removable/ replacable then i should try myself too.
