Ok, so I did unrevoked and have an unrooted phone. Started to get bored with the stock 2.2 and wanted better battery life.
My Dinc has an SLCD screen. So, when I go into the standard clockwork recovery, it goes to a black screen with white bars on the side. I had to do a custom flash recovery for my phone through unrevoked/flash. I then did a nand backup.
Tonight, I downloaded MIUI and attempted to install through the recovery flash. I ended up getting errors. So, I then thought that I needed to go through the ROM Manager app.... when I tried to flash the ROM, it automatically switched my recovery back to the Clockworks recovery..... then tried to go into the recovery portion of the ROM flash. Needless to say, I had to do a battery pull. Now when I try to do a normal boot, the phone freezes at the white screen that reads "HTC Incredible". If I boot into recovery... I can get to the hboot screen with the three droids at the bottom, but a script comes up on the screen and I think that it says something about no image... from there I can navigate around the recovery menue, but nothing works for me getting past this. If I go to recovery, it just keeps going to the black screen with the two white bars.
Is there anything that I can do. I am wondering if it is trying to flash the ROM everytime it comes on.... but this recovery method is not working on my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated!
I believe you need a special clockwork recovery for SCLD screens. Not exactly sure where to find it on here, but it should be hanging around somewhere. I hope I helped ya out a bit, good luck.

OK, so I was working a 24 hour shift yesterday when I posted this... unable to download any zip or exe file (damn firewalls)... This morning I was able to remove the miui zip from the root of the sd card via card reader. I then copied the PPB31IMG.zip to the root of my sd card. Then booted into recovery. I asked if I wanted to flash this file, I said yes and then it gave me the correct recovery menue. from there I was able to choose the recovery image that I had created yesterday. It seemed as though it was going to work, booted up to a stock rom that required manual setup (like on a new phone). Then I started to get FC's all over the place. I was able to find on my sd card two other nandroids that were saved in a different place than the only one that recovery allowed me to choose from. I moved the newly found recovery folders to the same location as the first and now I had those recovery options listed. I chose one from last week and thankfully my phone is restored and working.
I am not sure if this information will help anyone with an SLCD Dinc. There seems to be a huge difference in how these phones react to roms and tweaks. I am very hesitant to attempt any other ROMs at this time. On my eris, I flashed about 30 different ROMs and about 5 differnet radios. I am not new to this, but this SLCD Dinc has been a headache.
Any Aosp rom on an Slcd takes a different kernel. Get yourself the koush test#2 kernel and just keep it on your sd card. Flash it everytime you do a AOSP rom.
Sense based roms all seem to be ok as the kernel was built with Slcd in mind.
Well I'm glad you got it back up and running. I've heard about them not working well with some roms, I didn't know it was with all asop roms.

Thanks for the info on the AOSP roms. I did not know either. I wonder if there is a way to make the AOSP roms to support it by providing the new kernal in the flash or at least making a note on the AOSP ROM forum page that states the issues with SLCD Dinc's and what needs to be done to avoid problems. I would venture to say that anyone new to this stuff and was feeling brave would not be able to figure out how to restore there phone when it was acting the way mine was. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks again for the info.
I flashed the Jager rom. I was trying to flash a themed status bar. I go into recovery and get a blue tinted screen.
Ok so in the midst of this I realize there was a note that came w/ Jager saying to remove the PB3 zip which I didn't. Needless to say now I can't get into my recovery, I tried to clear the storage from the bootloader, no luck and I really don't know what I thought that would do.
I can't access anything to push a stock rom just to wipe my phone and go back to stock cause I can't access anything. Thoughts? Did I really just brick my phone?
*just a note on when I start it up I get the boot animation then it just loops on the Jager theme*
I just need to know how to get into my phone without actually getting into my phone(I'm not able). I need to put the RUU file on my sd card someway but since I can't get in I'm lost
I took the easy way out. I downloaded the 2.2 stock to my laptop, then took my sd card out my Incredible put it in my Evo copied 2.2 to it. I transferred that back to the Incredible went into bootloader and ran the update.
This is for anybody that can't get into their phone(assuming you have an extra phone on hand), and doesn't have a recovery for whatever reason. Don't waste your time combing threads, waiting for a reply or messing w/ pushing commands etc.
I'm running warm 2.2 rls5 I flashed the cube bootanime.
The question is I have seen a bunch of cool ones, dont know if it has something with the rom type i have or what but I cant get any others to work any ideas what the problem is or what I maybe doing wrong. Tried to put them all on the same way as I did the cube one. Move to sdcard wipe and flash, reboot.
if anyone knows where I can get boots that work with warm 2.2 rls5 that would be great. Thx

Get a file explorer like astro, root explorer, or supermanager and copy the boot animation that you want to system, resource, customize I think that's the order then just restart your phone. If any problems let me know
Thx. I'll try that. Does the animation have to be made for the rom your using or the rom type cause I have seen some that say sense and something else like asop maybe.
Maybe i'm doing it wrong I dont know. I open up astro found the bootanime I want to use tried move and copy and tried to paste it in the bootanimation in sys, cust.resource and I cant any help on this would be great thx.
You need to use root explorer and if your on a sense rom you have to put it in the data/animation folder on the phone not the sd card.

I have a 3 week old new Sprint HTC EVO 4g (white) and I have been using Evervolv's ROM and recently switched to Cyanogen's nightly build, anyhow...
I am wondering if there is a link to the Original ROM that came with my phone so I can go back to stock, as I want to return my phone and go with the Epic 4g.
I've seen Joeykrim's link to a file and I heard there is a Toast download out there somewhere, so I am wondering which is correct for me to flash back in recovery to my original state. :???: When I got my phone it was updated to the 2.2 with the 3.7 ota update. (if thats important to know)
Any help would be appreciated.
I must say Preludedrew, Joeykrim, Toast, Cyanogen and alllll of you who do what you do are sincerely, very talented =D> and I've never had as much fun with a phone as I have practically changing roms every other day. lol I simply like having a keyboard to text with.
Again, Thanks. :headbang:

And if you want to really do it right, here's the stock RUU files: http://goo-inside.me/evo/stock/RUU/
^^ Put your phone into "HTC Sync" mode; attach to computer; run the RUU file from above that matches your radio/etc. version; follow the on-screen instructions.
Cheers!
Hey Thanks, I greatly appreciate your help with this.
Also make sure to delete anything which looks like a flashable zip or PC36IMG file or soff.log from your SD card before returning it.
Would it be best if i used calkulin's "format all" file first?
If you like the community here I would recommend that you keep the evo. The epic does not have nearly as much going on.

Agreed; My wife has the epic and I keep her "up to date" with the newest/coolest/etc and I can tell you right now that you'll be in for a rude awakening when you get over to the EPIC forums. Not to mention that everything over there seems to end in an argument.
If you're not sure what Radios, baseband, etc. came with your phone originally, does it matter what RUU you use? Or is it fine to use the latest?
And does an RUU turn S-On?
Rooted with Unrevoked 3...
This has nothing to do with your question but........
I had to chuckle while reading this thread. I myself just switched from Epic to EVO...mainly because of the developement community....There is a lot of arguing in the Epic threads, a lot of ROM barrowing so in reality there is only a handful of Roms. To me it seems like 2 Roms and then a variety of Roms based off of those with a theme added or a few extra apps which can be downloaded anyway. I got sick of it and traded straight up with someone for the EVO...Just my 2 cents

No. You'll need to do S-on first, then RUU. If you're running an AOSP rom your best bet would be to flash a Sense rom prior to S-on. I flashed a Sense ROM, then s-on, booted into sense, then connected usb and chose "htc sync", launched the RUU from my computer and followed the on-screen prompts. I used the newest RUU with no issues but some people who have had issues fixed it by finding the RUU that corresponded to their Radio/baseband.
Based on your PM do this:
1) s-on
2) Go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884060&highlight=unroot
3) Match the software/radio/NV of your device with the PC36IMG files listed on the first post.
4) Download said matching PC36IMG zip onto your computer.
5) now you need to rename the file you just downloaded, so for example since I am running the latest PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2 .15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip (202.01 MB) RENAMED THIS FILE TO PC36IMG.zip Rename whatever file you downloaded.
6) Now go into recovery, than toggle on USB mode. Download the newly renamed PC36IMG to your SD card. Eject SD after download complete, then power off the device.
7) Power on and hold down volume down. Once it powers on, it will go thru the checking process and to the right you will see a little blue rectangle that pops up, while your device is stuck on "checking _____"
8) it will ask you whether you want to install/flash push down on volume UP.
9) wait until the whole process completes, then hit volume up when it says "do you wish to reboot"
10) once you hit volume UP, you will see a EVO w/exclamation point let it complete and once it reboots it will be back to stock ROM.
WOW. That was IT.
Absolutely the easiest and simplest step-by-step "HOW TO", ever.
Thanks so much, I greatly appreciate your help. This should be a sticky, as No one has made a FULL RESTORE TO STOCK so so freakin' simple as you just did.
Thanks a million.

If I used Unrevoked 3.32 to root, do you still use S-ON .zip prior to using the choice PC36IMG.zip? Or is that only for Unrevoked Forever?
From what I understand, unrEVOked forever is pretty much obsolete as forever and newer versions such as 3.32 accomplish the same thing, S-OFF. Once you run the RUU your device is back to stock with the exception of S-OFF. unrEVOked.com provides the files necessary to revert back to S-OFF.

Unrevoked Forever is now integrated into Unrevoked, since 3.2 IIRC. You still need to run S-ON before flashing the zip.
Why would you switch the evo is the bomb

Sweet exactly what I was wondering!
Okay, so I was unrooting my droid incredible and it brought it to stock 2.1 i was trying to install the update.zip to update it to 2.2, but it wasnt working...so i tried installing the 2.2 RUU onto it...and now when i try to turn on my phone it always boots into the Bootloader...what should i do?
Note: LED charging light still comes on, and i can still go into recovery(stock recovery though since my phone is no longer rooted)
If theres no way to fix it, can i just play dumb and tell verizon its not starting up, because doesnt HTC have to reflash everything anyway for security purposes....the only downside though is they would probably send me an SLCD Incredible
First and foremost, your phone is not bricked... not even close.
Simply try reinstalling the 2.1 RUU. Being that it's signed by HTC, you should be able to do what you need to in the stock recoveryThat being said, your update.zip probably failed because your phone was restored to a state prior to the May OTA. Without being at the correct software version, you cannot use the update.zip to install Froyo.
If you get the bootloader, you should be ok. I think the zip has to be on the root of the SD and named update.zip for the stock recovery.

Look in the android development forum for "the ultimate back to stock thread". download the "PB31IMGxxxxx" file there, rename it to just PB31IMG.zip and put it on the root of your sd card. Go into the bootloader and let it run the update. This will bring you back to a 2.2 stock. From there you can re-root and do whatever else you like.

Okay, well it was the get back to stock thread that i followed...and i know that i was trying to do the update.zip from a version of android that was too old, because i was the one who posted a thread a few months back with the update.zip in it. However, i was obviously stupid enough to not save teh "May" OTA and now the link is dead. Some people were reporting however that it still worked without it, so i wanted to see for myself.
In any case, it seems that a 5 hour battery pull seemed to do the trick, go figure. Can someone explain to me what a battery pull on this kind of stuff makes a difference and why the length of time sometimes makes a difference as well?
