HI
I'm developing a WM6 application and i need a free, nice and easy to use UI controls to use on my app.
Does anyone knows something nice and easy to use.
I find fluid controls but it gets a lot of code and it looks a little confuse to me.
Thanks for any help
You can use one of the SenseSDKs, there are free (except for commercial project i think...), nice, and easy to use...

All.... we have been working hard on CoreUI over the past 6 months. If your not familiar with CoreUI let me explain what it is. CoreUI is the Universal user interface (skins) behind CorePlayer. For developers think of it as a lighter, faster, smaller and more universal approach to skinning your applications compared to GTK or QT.
Even though we are still working on some of the design elements in CP. We are at the point now that we are comfortable to finally let skin developers start to work on skinning CorePlayer.
Now I want to say CoreUI is more then just a 'skin'... it is an XML based modular widget UI that gives you unlimited power to everything within CorePlayer.
So what will you need?
- Photoshop (or me with paint.net)
- XML experience is a MUST for skin designers
- Time to read through the 60+ page UI documentation
- Patience...
Anyone that wants the latest CoreUI skin documentation can email me ( info AT corecodec DOT com ) and I'll send it to them... as we want to work directly with the skin designers so, serious inquiries only.
Also I want to note... we are willing to pay $100 or more per skin! (now I got your attention)
Lets get to skinning!
Is it any good compared to TFL3D? Looks nice and possibly better than any other finger like interfaces!!
did a search but not too clear? any help
Go to http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/index.php - that is the official forum.
It is good and very customisable, if you have a little time and skill with photoshop etc.
To be fair, I think he's looking for some opinion from the community rather than the slightly biased view from the Lakeridge forums. Trouble is, an impartial view will be hard to come by. Lots of people on this site will tell you it's wonderful...with great conviction and some justification.
For what it's worth, I put it on my device a few weeks ago and it came back off pretty much straight away. It certainly is highly customisable - many of the sexier and more complex themes on this site are WAD themes - but customising isn't all that straightforward and that's what put me off. I didn't have the time or the inclination.
Some will love it and some will hate it, but my personal preference is for SPB Mobile Shell. I used TF3d in preference to SPBMS2.x (although I'm currently taking davideuck's excellent WM6.5 ROM for a spin) but will look very seriously at v3 which should be out later this month or early next. There are YouTube videos and a dedicated website kicking about if you search around.
have not tried wisebar advance desktop but wisebar advance does drag the performance of the device in my own observation.
I find that if you want to have better performance, touchflo, mobileshell or pointui offers that.
Agree that the configuration of WAD is no piece of cake, but I love it for...
...as many appointments on main screen as screen permits (and those appointments can also be way in the future)
...16 tabs on main screen and 16 more just a finger touch away (tabs can also be a URL, or macro)
...lots of prefab skins so I dont need to worry about Photoshop...
IMO,
Positive: WAD2 allows for much more customization of screens.
i.e. weather info, plugin imbedding, status info, screen button look, etc.
Negative: not as graphically advanced as TF3d. i.e. weather, mail, stock, etc. animations are much better in TF3d.
Also, it is still a little buggy. Random crashes and such. it seems that WAD2 needs some more fine tuning before it's ready for prime time.
In essence, if you're looking a more infomative overlay, quicker access to functions, and much more customization then WAD2 is fun to play with.
But, if your looking for a stable, graphically advanced, overlay, Tf3D is the way to go.
Personally, I use TF3D because I like the look, feel and responsiveness, especially with the great Roms cooked here. But, I miss WAD's plasticity.
Thanks guys, yeah im looking at SPB v. 3, just need to find a good ROM out there to use!!!
I was getting a little bored and irritated at the way Touchflo was making everything so hard to get to.
I put everything back to standard Windows for a while but it obviously wasn't particularly very finger friendly (although not as bad as everyone made out).
I tried SPB 3 but tbh it looks and feels amateur and the UI wasn't as clean as I'd have liked.
I then came across the free version of PointUI Home2 (http://www.pointui.com) and its a really nice replacement for Touchflo. (It also seems to use less memory and is definitely faster.
It has panels like Android which are actually usefull, ie.e displaying all email summaries for an account on homepage etc.
There is a big development community and there are many apps and themes that make it looks and work very nicely. Lots of sliding transitions, and an almost full graphical UI replacement for commonly used menus like start and settings.
If you haven't yet, check it out.
here's a fairly decent run through video (although it does look and work a little better on my TP2 and the default theme is nicer than on this vid:

All the Themes available (inc android, sense etc.): http://community.pointui.com/topic/themes-the-themes-store
All the Apps available: http://community.pointui.com/topic/applets-the-applets-store
Probably the best theme, PointSenseUI: http://community.pointui.com/topic/pointsense_s2u2
I used Home on my phone from 1.0 to soon after they released 2. The one thing I couldn't get over was the screen rotate lag on my Tilt. I'm sure that's less of a problem on the TP2 (or I hope?) but it drove me away from it.
That said, each revision from the PointUI team made the program get better and better. There are a ton of UGGGLLLYYY themes but of course there's a gem every now and then. I used the "Seven" theme, I think.
I think the coolest feature of Home2 is how anyone can make an applet. And while some are butt-ugly, some are really nice looking and amazing. It's worth checking out at least for the sheer number of cool apps people add to it.
I (still) don't have my TP2 but I'm going to give TF3D, Chome, and Home2 a fair run. Home2 is a really nice looking program and I don't care if it makes me 10% less productive on my phone, aesthetics can enhance my experience enough to make up for that.
Im finding it is very responsive and enhances my phone greatly.
I've paid for the pro version, and the threaded messages and message timeline feature is worth that alone. Basically you can have a timeline of messages, including all emails and sms all by time, brilliant.
It is very beautiful and i also use 7even. I don't have auto rotate enabled as i dislike rotating displays unless i pull out the keyboard but everything else is great.
Hi, would like to try to develop some applications for my HTC Diamond, but would some apps i download have a nice skin that looks like the built in apps in the phone, but when i develop some applications they are standard old windows apps, that dont look nice.
So my question is how do i make them look like the built in apps, with the styled buttons and so on, do you guys use some sort of skin for your apps?
Or do you allways make the buttons etc, in a program like photoshop or similiar?
Thanks
Dan

Perfect... Just what i was looking for.
Hi everyone,
it's been a long time since my last project here on xda, but here I come I'm starting a new project and at the beginning I'd like to say that it's a loooong way to finishing it. So please do not ask for eta, because I just can't predict when and if it's going to be finished and released.
My new project is a new UI for WM6.1, 6.6 and 6.5.x. I'm doing ti for VGA but hopefully it will be easy to get it working on WVGA.
Seven UI is based on the new Windows Phone 7 interface. I'm not going to copy it all, I'll try to get some things done better. I just want to keep its style. I know that there are many themes/skins for SPB MS or other interfaces, but I want to build this from scratch, which will be really hard since .netCF doesn't offer access to some system functions or even to the sms inbox!
sound's good...i really apprecciate all your works...great kamill
Another fantastic project for WP7 imitating!!!

Below in the attachments I've posted 2 screenshots. One of the home screen and the other of the lockscreen. These are just designs made in VS2008.
I'll post some more details later.

Looks promising...
I had a question for you... have you tried the sub-pixel font rendering used in WP7 into our current mobiles?
I have created a few fonts for Manila but the Zegoe/Segoe Light do not look good because of this. Do you think you can help out on this?
Thanks guys, I really hope to finish this project!
NNagendran, I'm using Segoe WP - it's quite different than Segoe, imo much nicer and it looks good on the screen. Afaik you can't add antialiasing to the system fonts, you just have to use another font. Sometimes enlarging the text makes it look better.
wow! this is awesome, thanks Kamill
Really looking forward to this! Do you think it can be done without being too slow on the older devices like blackstone or diamond etc.?
I'm testing it on my Diamond, so I'll try to keep it as fast as possible.
wooow cool
considering you and ElCondor's pedigree, re GTX i'm confident this will be awesome
thanks so much!
where is the download for this?
There's no download yet, it's in really early stages of development.
included this on my RSS
more power to you!
My 2 Cents
Looks nice, Looking forward to it.
Cheers
BR
Great work,I love WP7's style
thats kewll
I've decided to divide the project into few steps. The first one is the Messaging app. I may release it as a standalone app, but it's still too early to say when this is going to happen.
Thanks to mapidotnet I'm already able to read all the inbox, so that's a big step forward and thanks to codeproject.com I got the kinetic scrolling list working (smooth!).
Below there's a small preview of how it looks like.
Here's a small video preview of the Messaging app, just to show how you can navigate it. All the animations are really smooth and the transitions are fast (tested on Touch Diamond)
SO we do not need colour screen Only black and white.
It looks nice, keep good work

Extraordinary!! I look forward to try this app out!! and of course your user interface!!
will this app be able to run on a WVGA device??
thank you for your effort...
a download link in a PM would be eagerly appreciated!!
greets!
