Use LED for notifications CM 6.1.1 - Desire General

Hay there,
I use the CyanogenMod 6.1.1 on my Desire. Since I change from the stock ROM I don't get notifications over the LED (above the display, right of the htc label). Is it possible to use that LED to notify about new mails, SMS, updates and so on? And how I have to set it up.

Hmm.. just installed but don't work.
I tried the the test function and it lights up. But when there's a real mail (K9) nothing happens.
Edit: It seems it just don't work for K9. With Calls and SMS there aren't any problems.
I'd really like an App or something like that which lights up for each notification.

SMS LED Notification

Hey, i was just wonder if this is normal or not but about 5 minutes after receiving a SMS the LED will stop flashing even though i have not turned the screen on yet to check it
is this meant to happen and if so is there a way in which i can change it to continue flashing any amount of time until i check my phone?
Thanks.
I think with the Handcent SMS app you can set 'reminders' to every 5 mins. So it should continually flash till you check it then.
I've not actually tried this but the theory is there!
thanks for the quick reply, but i was hoping there was a way with the default messaging program
Annoyingly, I don't think there is. I'd recommend having a look at Handcent though, it's a cool app.
that's rather annoying, but o well i guess, other then this I've been loving the phone
Try Missed Reminder from the market. Works good on my device.
I asked HTC about this, and it is is true, the LED flashes for 5mins then stops.
I didn't like the Handcent reminder simply because when it restarts the notification, it makes the sound like it's got another message. I just wanted to know I've got something to check rather than hear it go off every 5mins or whatever you set it to.
But this is a personal annoyance. I can see that many wouldn't mind this.
Missed Reminder was another option to definitely try to see if it's for you.
Thanks for the replies guys, I'll give Missed Reminder ago, seems odd that they wouldn't allow for a option to let it flash for longer, is this only for SMS or does it also stop after 5 mins for all LED notifications?
all notifications stop after 5mins. What's the point in having the led?

Yeah..5mins for sms/missed call...constantly if your battery is low
Are you guys sure that the LED stops blinking after 5 mins? In hTC's there is an option in settings (I forgot where exactly) which will allow you to set different times, 5,10,15 mins and even there is an option for continuous blinking. So please recheck the settings (in sound & notifications maybe) and then confirm it.
Thanks.

That was the case for Windows mobile phones. there is no option in android to set this.

That is so weird. Isn't there any solution for this?
The Missed Reminder app does the job. You can customise it quite a bit. I just set all notifications to blink the LED forever.

Tried this app, but doesnt work correctly. Sure it will continue to blink the LED, but the notification sounds do not work correctly - i.e they dont sound on reapeat alarms. Shame as it looked a nice app.

I have no plans yet to release a special version for 2.x at least not until I’ve got my phone updated to 2.1.

[Q] Handcent notification LED not working?! :(

Hey guys!
My Handcent Notification LED does not work on any of the aosp roms - i have tried cm7.1 and GingerVillain 3.3.
Handcent LED works fine when using sense roms.
I have also tried LED me know, but it will not work
I am really frustrated with this!
Can anyone help me with this problem?!
Best regards
Andreas Anthony
Hi
I run runnymede 5.0 (Ginger 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5) on a cm7r2 and have the same issues.
I really like my Desire again The 1gb ext4 with for as2sdx is just awesome.
I miss my blue LED light though
I've tried the 70ledfix in the init.d but without success.
It seems that Handcent is not Ginger-ready.... at least the 2.3.5
led me know did not work either
Does someone has a clue?
Dres
Blue LED works fine on the different Runnymede roms i have tried. My issues are definitely caused by the aosp roms. Thanks for your reply though
Anyway: Who can help us
I read that runnymede 4.8 and 4.9 should work fine. Other Users have similar problems with runnymede 5.0 and the Handcent LED. But where is the prob?
It's not a big deal. But it should work. I loved the blue LED.
Dres
Now that this has been mentioned, I've realised that the blue led is missing on my phone since I changed to rcmix and cm7r2. Its probably in one of the settings somewhere, but if I got everything perfect how I wanted it when I changed roms, I'd never have time to use the phone!
I was a fan of handcent on 2.2 because of the blue LED. Unfortunately when I flashed CM7 I couldn't get it to work. I installed SMSpopup from the market and this has an option for the blue LED which works. I guess you could turn off the pop up in Handcent and use that instead.
no it doesn't work with SMS popup too
Seems like the issue is cm7r2. Works for me when using stock hboot.

I'm currently on cm7r2 hboot and its working here using sms pop up I mentioned before. It doesn't clink though, just stays solid.

Issues with the Handcent Notification LED
Hey! I've spent too many hours on this now, and I figured going here was a solid choice. Tried searching for an answer, but that yielded this thread, which, unfortunately didn't solve my problem.
Issue: The LED-light doesn't turn on when I receive new SMS- or MMS-messages.
I'm using Handcent. In Handcent I've configured the LED-light to be on, with a solid blue color. Testing the notification in Handcent yields the correct results - a solid, blue, glow.
Receiving either SMS- or MMS-messages doesn't trigger the LED. I get vibration, sound and the Handcent pop-up. Nothing more, nothing less.
As for HBOOT I'm using CM7r2 and the ROM I'm using is MildWild's CM 4.2.
I've been fiddling around with the CyanogenMod settings > Interface > LED notifications options for a few hours and managed to get a blinking red and a blinking green light for new Handcent events. However, selecting "use application settings" doesn't seem to patch it through to Handcent. So the settings I'm doing now (to get some sort of visual feedback) is "Force LED on" and "Red" for the LED color.
I've tried using SMS popup and LightFlow, neither of which solved my problem.
So, TL;DR. I want the solid (blue) LED notification back when receiving new SMS- and MMS-messages using Handcent, is there any way to do this?
Thanks!

DON'T use Light Flow Light App in HTC One V!

I wanted to change the colours of LED Notifications but when i used this app, the LED kept on blinking Green light and nothing more! I did EveryThing to make it stop... but I couldn't! Then I uninstalled the app! And STILL the LED was blinking... I kept the phone in charging so that the Solid Orange light comes and the Green light goes away. But after charging, when I switched the screen on, again Green light started blinking. At last, I had to restart the phone and then it was fine. I strongly recommend NOT TO USE This app again.
UPDATE: Do not think that I'm blaming the app! it works fine on my old phone (xperia mini). I just want to say that HTC One V does not support Light Flow Light..!

I installed this app today and then quickly uninstalled it because yhis app just didn't work. so anyone has alternative ways to change notifications light? thank God I tried the free version first..
The app will only work on htc devices if they are rooted due to permissions set on htc phones.
If the led keeps flashing green after uninstall a reboot should fix it. I am the author by the way. It's such a shame htc changed the permissions on the files on every gingerbread and up device. They also only have green and amber leds in the hardware.
Android 4.2.2. / Light Flow 3.6.3

Hi, I tried Light Flow 3.6.3 on Android 4.2.2. (CyanogenMod 10.1 Jellybean 4.2.2 - KANG).
It hangs on the first start - scanning installed applications... Tried to reboot, same problem again.
Tried to reinstall the app - same problem.
Seems like it doesn't support Android 4.2.2 (my handy: HTC Sensation - rooted)
Or is this a bug?
Best regards,
Ronny

I've pm'd you about this. I know there's a bug in some current kernels that means the /sys/devices directory listing never returns.

How do you disable the LED from blinking for notifications on CM7.2.0?

I downgraded, rooted, flashed CM7, etc. on my brother's G2 recently and he's very happy about the better performance and new features. Anyway, we wanted to know if it was possible to make the LED in the upper right of the phone not blink when there is a notification.
There is an app called Light Flow that could probably help him with that. There is a free version & a paid version. Try the free version out.

I tried that app and it didn't work for controlling the LED, but thanks for the suggestion.
hi, I think its in settings - profiles - your current profile - and sms or email etc.. there is light indication option.

BLN half working

I installed the kernel that supports BLN then I installed lite Rom version 5. Now I downloaded the BLN from the market and it said my Rom supports it. Unfortunately when I get an email the button lights don't go on when the phone is sleep. Same with Facebook notifications but it did work with Google talk. Someone sent me a message and it lit up quite nicely and stayed on till I woke up the phone. Anyone else experiencing this? I looked in Facebook and made sure on the app that I have light notification enabled but that did not help. I could not see any options from the email. I use the built in email from android not the Google one, the white one with the blue @ sign is the one I use. Am I not enabling something? Please help I would love this to work properly.

I second this. BLN works, but not consistently. I can't quite put my finger on why the performance varies. It works during sleep, but not always. It works while it's awake, but the screen is off, but also not always.
The only thing I may have found is that BLN works less often when I have the app triggering the notification open/active. So, when I'm in a chat and I put down my phone after a message, the screen will go off after 15 seconds. The other party may have replied within 20 seconds, but it does not always trigger BLN.

I wish it would just trigger on everything in the notification section. Unfortunately kind of useless if it is only sometimes getting triggered. What good is a notification light that does not work? Sorry, I know how hard some people have worked hard on this and I am not trying to upset anyone, just stating that it is not there yet to be reliable and fully functional.
I had the same issue previously on older versions of the lite kernel. I ended up flashing the kernel twice in a row and it seemed to fix the issue. I haven't seen issues since. Maybe upgrade to the most current lite kernel?

I couldn't get BLN Control to work with Handcent SMS so I downloaded Light Flow Lite, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite.
So far it has worked great and I haven't seen any of these intermittent issues. Maybe it will help one of you guys.
