Are there any custom roms out there that are completely stock(Rooted), but support EXT4 and any custom kernels that are optimized to work with both EXT4 and the stock 2.2.1.
Thanks for anyone who can point me in the direction or maybe possible cook it up. Hope XDA can help me.

Currently no custom kernels, and there won't be until HTC releases the kernel source.

Naw, they can withhold kernel source for as long as they want to, and never a problem.
Hello now I know there are alot of guides and questions about this but I wanted to know about the epic 4g specific parts of rom making. Like getting it on a MTD partation. Anything really about the whole rom building process will be helpful too. I am going to need all the help I can get

You will probably need a ROM building mentor. I am sure you googled it already. I found some links for you in this search and most are general, specific to the Epic I had only found 2 on the first page.

While I don't know how to build a rom or theme, I do know how to port roms if you want help with that.
For themes/themed roms, you have to decompile framework-res.apk and any apks you want to theme.

Making it install to mtd has to deal with updater-script. The main parts of a rom are the kernel, init.d scripts, messing with libs, deleting bloatware, and theming it. You could also add custom ringtones and build.prop edits

Hey guys, I'm super newbie to all this. I rooted my phone with an optimized ics rom about a month ago. It was a T-Mobile from however. It made my better life awesome. But it was still touch wiz etc. Then jb came out right after.
Is there a dev who is making a jb from for telus that is optimized for battery life and no touchwiz?
Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks a million.

All you can do is wait and see. There's an alpha cm10 out for the skyrocket and ported to our phone...but still has bugs and no camera...as far as tw jb there's n/a and just so you know this thread is for development there's already a job topic on the general section.

Its regarding custom rom. I figured it was in the right spot. Move it if need be. Sorry. I'm looking for a non touch wiz rom too. Have to keep watching. Can I use any rom or just ones that are cwm?

You have two choices flash with CWM or odin. Mostly all the roms in here are setup to be flashed with clockwork. Please read the stickies in development and wickys to get yourself better acquainted with your phone and flashing...... Questions to the masses may bring up more opinions than fact.

Hey guys i have been flashing roms since the original epic but I know want to start making roms and becoming a dev but I heard that porting is more easy and then from there start to make my own rom can some point me in the right direction to porting but I don't wanna use a aosp cause I like touchwiz better

Then really porting might not be what your looking for, customizing it and cooking your own rom in your kitchen. There's a user on XDA @dreamsforgotten he's written some great threads and guides on all of it, maybe he can link you to those posts or you can search for them using his username to guide you. Also you can check in the http://xda-university.comXDA university threads.

Hello everybody. I've been flashing a few ROMs lately since July, and there is so much stuff out there...I was just on Alpha Rom, now I'm trying out Tasker650 AOKP, and now I'm curious, what are the most customizable touchwiz and non touchwiz (cm/aokp/aosp) ROMs out here right now.? All you have to do is read the change log in the very first post. It'll tell you what's included in the ROM.
