Hoping someone can help, whenever I make a voice call, I'm told by whoever I call that it sounds like I'm in a 'washing machine'!!! and that they can't hear me. In every other aspect, my phone seems perfect, but the fact that no one can hear me effectively makes my phone useless, any ideas?

Hi - are you using a custom ROM or stock ?
Has it always been like this or have you installed any odd apps recently ?
..... and Im assuming you arent actually in a washing machine
to get best advice might be best to list ROM details, radio version etc ....
Sorted the problem with a soft reset, amazing how easy it was to get rid of that 'washing machine' phone HTC customer support in the UK and they were really helpfull, very impressed.

Hi. I've had my Desire for some weeks now. But some day or two ago the text vibration stopped working. It's only the vibration when I get a text that doesn't work. When someone calls, feedback when I'm writing also work.
Anyone of you that know what it could be? I've checked settings etc.

I had the very same problem with my first Desire on a week or two after I got it. I tried literally everything. I called HTC they had no idea what to do nor how to fix it. So I called T-Mobile (who I got the phone from) told them about it, they couldn't fix it either so I got a replacement phone.
Seemingly there is no way of fixing it. The motor is fine, but something is bugged. Perhaps one of the more astute Desire users (using custom ROMs) may be able to shed some more light on the problem, but as far as I know, it is unfixable.
Ok. I guess I need to contact the store I got it from. Thanks

This is a known issue which means the text vibration stops working when the battery gets low and it doesn't come back after charging the phone.
Download and install sound manager from Android market, use it to turn on text message vibration and it'll all work again for you. Best of all It's all completely free.
Let us know if it works for you like it did for me.
Rik.

Well sound manager worked. Thanks a lot

I just love a problem like this that seems unfixable only to find a detailed and workable fix. Bravo.
I wish I would've known that before getting a replacement phone. Ah well, it didn't cost me anything.
Glad it worked for you all, can't remember where I first heard it but it worked for me

I installed sound manager after, I observed that the vibration does not work on my phone. For the beginning all was OK,I began testing and saw that from 5 calls 3-4 are without vibration and 1 is with the vibration, though the vibration is on from phone settings and sound manager.I didn't try to factory reset the phone because I would lose everything .Any ideas would be appreciated.
I had this problem a while ago. Download 'Sound Manager' from the Market, and there's an option in it, 'Vibrate Always' or something. That did it for me anyway, hope it helps you

@BUTCHER0123
I had an intermittent problem with the vibrate function after about 6 months. I sent my phone back to HTC. Initially they replaced the motherboard which didn't fix the problem. I sent it back again (set as priority) and they replaced the vibration module. It all works fine now. It's an option to consider if you can put up with being without your phone but I think it's worth doing.
whats up guys! I bought a used HTC Rhodium/ Touch Pro 2 on eBay and it arrived today. I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me out with two problems I'm having.
I'm having a weird issue where the microphone icon toggles on and off (i also hear some sort of enabled/disabled sound going on/off every 10 sec or so) and i sometimes hear a "please repeat" command. Also, whenever this happens any text box I select automatically spams "gggggggggggggggg" indefinitely
Seems like a rather strange issue to me. If I reboot the phone, or have it off for a good 5+ mins, the phone is problem free for 1-2 minutes. Then the above problems occur again
Anyone have any insight? I enjoy this phone so far and it'd be a shame if i need to return it. I upgraded the ROM to the most recent WM 6.5 and it did not doing anything

im really not sure if what im thinking of is even feasable or possible but what better place to ask. does anyone know if there is a such thing so that when someone is calling ur phone u can press a button and hear them but they have no clue because they just still hear the ringing in there earpiece, and if u choose not to answer they will get your vmail or can be sent to vmail? does this exsist? can this exsist? even if not that would be a hella cool option in my opinion. thanks

thanks for the idea
just kidding...i know it can be done but idk if it exists
ive googled till i reached the dark pages of unfamiliar language page results only to find nothing even close to this, so for now i can only assume maybe it can't be done

I don't think it's possible - the architecture of the GSM protocol and call answering procedure doesn't allow this.
theve got stuff similiar in the military that ive seen
I think google voice has this feature.

Just a simple question: theoretically if someone still hears ringing on their side, wouldn't they wait for you to answer before actually saying anything?

This. Not sure why you'd ever want to listen but have them not know you're there? You'll just hear nothing because they are waiting for you to pick up...

yeah i tried, didnt work.
someone, please help, im desperate
Try HTC Guide
What android version and software number is your M8?
For M8 with Android Lollipop, there should be an app called HTC Guide.
You may test audio by the app in hardware diagnostics to see if the phone speakers work normally.
If the test fails, it means it might be a hardware issue...
Try it. Remember to change the profile to be Normal before doing the test.
Hi just wondering if anyone can help. I've noticed I keep missing calls and yesterday when receiving a call I noticed that it rang loud once then lowered, I've since tested it, and every other ring lowers to a barely audible level. I've not got silent on pickup on but do have pocket mode on. I can't understand why.
Cheers for any help

I have a similar issue, I've noticed that, it sounds fine when I preview notifications and ringtones, but when the phone actually rings it is a lot more quiet and muted. It does appear that the top speaker is not being used for ringtones.
Called HTC, spoke with a girl who sounded like she was following some sort of flowchart. Needless to say she couldn't help and concluded that it was a defective hardware. I tried to explain that others are having the same issue and it appears to be a bug, but I don't think she understood. Maybe if more people call HTC with this issue, they will figure it out.
Mine seems to play through both at first then switches to just the bottom and gets lower. Any way to stop this?

I'm guessing it's a bug as I've seen others complain about this issue on other forums. I hope they will fix it in the next update. Try calling HTC, the more people complain about it, the quicker they will fix it. When I called, they said that someone will get back to me to schedule an exchange, but instead, about a week later they sent me an RMA for a return. I don't really want to return the phone, I was going to test the replacement and if that one worked fine I would return mine, if not, I was going to return the replacement.
