Hi,
I read about the Google Nexus One having a bug with multitouch. It tracks the finger position wrong.
It seems to be a hardware error.
Does this affect the Desire too? (N1 and Desire are close in hardware)

Because Desire in not in sale, nobody knows.
N1 and Desire have the same screen.
For me : Both of them have this bug.
Doesnt the N1 and the desire use same capasitive screen to the hd2 as well?
The screen of the HD2 is bigger (4.3"). The Desire has 3.7"
But those 3 devices could have the same model and manufacturer.
I'm not too worried after reading this post by Cyanogen:
Cyanogen's Solution
If this will get it to work pretty much like the droid, I'm fine with it.

Sorry yes.. Aware of that... (hd2 owner) Mean produced in the same way.. I see the nexus one has the same cross hatches as the hd2.

i hope it is not the same with the desire....
Desire has the identical "Pinch to Zoom" touchscreen... :-(

This doesnt look good.. (i cant post links)
It is hard to see because of the blurry and spotlight reflections, but yeah the line jumps from one finger to the other. damn.
Here the link again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rOgFX1-EwE
Why is there always something wrong when a phone seems to be nice
I guess we are just going to see when we get our hands on the device.. No point picking holes in it before we even have it. Im sure i can live with this if the n1 owners can.
PLenty of vids out now that show multitouch in-use, such as the pinching on homescreen and using web browser etc. with no problems. I don't think this will actually effect usability. Also, Engadget ran an article using a different multitouch "measuring" software and it had no problems...wouldn't get all upset about this
Agree,I currently own a N1 and this doesn't affect the pinch to zoom at all. It works flawlessly.
its not a big deal!
The issue appears to be a hardware issue, .. but i think there is away to solve it using a software fix, ... for example instead of the OS takes the data as it is from the touch screen that provides it (which appears to be flawed), another layer should exist, that can process the data from the touch screen and fix that issue and then pass it on.
I am not sure how this is can be done, or what is the effect of it on the over all performance, but I dont think it will be a problem with the Desire hardware specs.
Even with this issue, i dont believe it is a big deal, ... why do you need multi-touch? IMO to zoom in, zoom out (impress your friends and family), which works perfectly. other than that I hardly find any useful applications for it, ... ok maybe some games need this functionality to work properly, but i think i can live with not having games that require multi touch.

Typing is one thing that comes to mind
I am not trying to sound like a fanboy, but the multi-touch keyboard on the *cough*iphone*cough* is awesome. I have owned numerous HTC phones and the difference between say the MyTouch 3G and the iphone keyboard is like night and day.
Now, if there is a keyboard in the android market that is comparable then I will take back my previous statement. I haven't tried Swype, but have heard it is really good.

This feature is not effected by the hardware "bug" of the touch screen, .. if you used both ur hands (2 fingers) at the same time to type and clicked "pressed the screen" on two different letters without moving them than you're completely safe
My point was that the type of multi-touch (mutli touch gestures or call it whatever ...) that is effected by the bug (IMHO) is negligible to most users
and that is exactly why am getting the Desire XP

Watch from 5:40 till the end. Pinch-to-zoom is definitely there and is HELLA smooth too
Hey yall, has anyone been able to mod the droid x multi-touch keyboard to work on the vibrant yet? I really really want that keyboard... it's even better than the Sense keyboard. The mod I saw was the droid x port to vibrant but it was small keys... i wonder if there was a full working port...
please let me know. thanks so much
Lol I was expecting to see like a Droid x Bluetooth keyboard or something. But the answer is yes. Its just the keys are too small unless you remember the keys your pressing.
After this post, The XDA app probably forced closed from my froyo lacking Vibrant

Well its just so much smoother to type on. Even better than the sense keyboard. I can't find a good download that has the original size keys
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I think what everybody else is wanting when they request the Droid x keyboard is the larger buttons with the wider spacing between keys in landscape mode...
That is what I also want. The droid x is so much easier to type on because of it.
Okay so I am new to the pro coming from an incredible...and well when i first got the incredible there really wasnt anything as far as rooting and roms go..but the pro has been out since november..it has root..however it doesnt seem like a lot of people are interested in porting roms and making customs ones for it..i mean is fission the only thing being worked on? no miui or cynagen?
That seems to be the case. I am actually researching how to cook Roms to see if I could do it since no one else seems to be.
Sent from my DROID PRO using XDA App
yeah im thinking about learning to do it too...its just finding time with school/work
I also came from the Incredible. The development for that device was amazing within a few months. However, for the Pro, it's really a sad state of affairs--no ROM to speak of. There is a Fission ROM RC1, but it's definitely not a daily driver and there's been nothing since that first release.
I LOVE the physical keyboard of the Pro, but I miss the fun of the Incredible. I'm sure I'll soon sell my Pro for the upcoming Incredible 2 or thunderbolt. I'll never buy a Motorola Android device again.
Yeah. It's kind of too bad. I have a Droid Pro and a Droid 2 (was given the Droid Pro), and recently switched to the Droid Pro as my everyday device. I love the keyboard and form factor, but would prefer to be able to run something closer to AOSP stock (have the most recent build of Fission on the D2).
I'm guessing that there just aren't enough Droid Pros out there for anyone to be interested in developing ROMs. Too bad, because it's a great phone, although I can see people not being interested in a "high-end" phone with an HVGA display.
Maybe the next version of MotoBlur will be better than the current one (although I've been happier with the stock software on the Droid Pro than I was with the Motoblur on the Droid 2 when it came out).
I mean for me its not so much as the UI...i actually dont mind moto blur at all and aside from missing the favorites widget for contacts and the default clock..i like it a lot better than sense...but the thing that i want is custom kernels and what not for speed/battery management and the other extra things
where are the chefs............?????????????
its pity, great phone with great hardware but dump software, we need chefs here..... where are you??????
please dont let droid pro to go down the drain, please......
we need a stable and fast AOSP ROM .......if possible......donating not a problem
please guys.....
Yeah I am really hoping for a Cynagen port of 2.3 onto this device
Really? This is where we stand on this? Nothing since February?
yah i know it sucks i want to learn to port so i can take the roms made for dx or d2 i really want cyn
Isn't the bootloader locked on this thing? That's why not really any roms?
Bootloader on the Droid X and Droid 2 are locked as well but both have some custom ROMs available..
Think it's more of an issue with the lack of numbers....not any devs have this device and not a huge number of Droid Pro users compared with the others....with the similarities with the X and Droid 2 you would think it wouldn't be too hard to port over a ROM to the Pro....
if you go check out droid forums you will see there is a guy working on CM7 for the PRO i cant wait for the first beta

Well the problem is the pro was targeted at corporate America. Not the IT guys or nerds but the exec's that loved the blackberry. The result is you don't have a lot of pro owners that know what xda-developers.com is, let alone a custom rom.
Bashing motorola? For realz? Damn man I love my Droid X, I do product reviews on just about every phone on the market and I have to say my original Droid X is still my favorite and I don't pay for service, phones or anything. I have my pick... and it's the Droid X. I've been thinking about switching to the Droid X 2 which is just as outstanding, the only problem is I don't want to reward them for not going 4G with it. I don't really need a processor upgrade and I have a 32 gb micro in the Droid X 1 (which I was surprised it recognized to be honest).
Anyway, Droid X 1 with MIUI FTW
Are there any mini keyboards compatible with the evo. I got this one for the evo shift, not sure if its compatible, but it says android. if you ask why I got a keyboard for the shift even though it comes with one, because its small.

I want one smaller for the evo, I saw two on amazon, they say smart phone, but will they work on andriod? I'm rooted.

I'm amazed no one has asked this.
Does anyone know what kind of onscreen keyboard will come with the Nexus? I used a T-Mobile G2 for the past year, and a Nexus One before that, so I'm not sure what keyboard flavor the Samsungs get. Any clue on Swype?
Thanks guys!
It comes preloaded with only the stock Android 4.0 keyboard. I love it though. You can always download the Swype betas and any other keyboards though.
