So for starters, I'm running CM6.1. I'm having an issue where I get my LED notifications all working (i.e, green flash as default with all applications that are set to pulse the notification light, flashes even while charging and screen is on or off) by setting "Always pulse" in Cyanogen Settings. I then go to apply a theme through Metamorph and now my notifications flash orange, but only for Google apps like Talk and the stock messenger. I'm wondering if anybody else has had an issue with this, and if so, is there a fix? This is really annoying considering how long I've (and all of us really) waited for LED notifications to work properly on these AOSP roms.
For further info, I'm trying the flash the Nexus S theme featured here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863110

I've searched/read through a bunch of threads, and I guess this isn't a big deal to many people as I really haven't seen much discussion. I don't always like my notifications to have a sound or vibration aspect to them, so I'm curious about the current state of Galaxy Nexus/ICS visual notifications when the screen is on but the status bar is hidden.
I was disappointed to see Ice Cream Sandwich continue to prevent the notification LED from lighting up when the screen is on instead of the original Droid's initial behavior that kept the LED on with the screen on. I've glanced at a few custom ROM feature sheets, but haven't seen any notes on whether the option to keep the LED on while the screen is on has been introduced yet. For those who have been flashing ROMs, is this a feature in some/most of the stabler ROMs out there?
I'm also wondering if anyone has messed with trying to put notifications in the soft key area? Even with the status bar visible, it can be annoying to reach the top one-handed to swipe down... so full-screen or not, I think it would be pretty great to be able to have certain notifications pop up next to the back or multitasking soft key (even something as simple a block of color indicating mail, SMS, voice mail, etc.), and then be able to tap the notification to go to the app sending the notification.
I just use an SMS pop up app.. unfortunately text notify which IMO is the best at this doesn't work on ICS yet..

Thanks, that's a good point that I had previously discarded because I'm not a huge fan of pop-ups with dialog boxes. But this reminded me that Light Flow has pop-up notifications that I hadn't previously tried, and it turns out they're actually toast notifications (which are preferable to me). So that'll definitely do until CM or whoever lights up the LED with the screen on.
Hello everyone,
I recently got a nexus and love it. Just one thing that I can't quite figure out is the notification light. Is it supposed to come on, when you have a text, email and notification from an app? I have it activated in settings but it doesn't seem to be coming on when I have a notification. Any ideas or special settings I should be aware of?
BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE!
When I'm charging my device, or if I receive a message my led lights up. I have light flow installed though. Didn't set up anything in my rom control settings.
Also when you receive a message do you check it right away or let it sit? If I check my message right away it doesn't come up if my phone is idle it flashes as a reminder.

Thanks, I can try that program. But isn't it supposed to show the notifications on its own? It did light up ONE time when I got an email. I'm on stock 4.0.2.
* Lightflow seemed to correct the problem. THANKS!
the built in notification is a fail. all the apps have their own settings which is why some pulse and some dont. Just download light flow..more control as to colour and pulse time and speed and such.
I dont use any app and my light works fine. Text blinks blue using handcent, google voice blinks green, gmail blinks white.
I believe the led can be configured by any app if the dev codes it in, but google did not give us control of it, instead letting devs handle it. Cyanogen surely will have built in controls.
So far with all of my jelly bean roms that I have tried, I have had a lot of problems with notifications. The most frustrating problem is with the stock messaging app. I don't get any notification whatsoever (including LED, sound, vibrate, and icon) unless I am actually in the app, and obviously there's no need for it then. Right I am using GoSms as my notification handler, and the texts/notifications come in fine, but I want to use the stock app through and through.
I have all other apps working fine with light flow, and another curious problem is that the LED control that comes with the rom won't control the LED, even with light flow disabled. Doubt they're connected but these are really the only problems with my current setup.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey guys,
Im having a hell of a time getting light flow (3.12.8) to function properly running under cm11 (currently the dec 21st nightly)
my main issue is the notifications not clearing after i have viewed an sms, the led remains on with screen off and reminder vibrations still occur. there is an "alternate off monitoring" option in the SMS apps notification settings but whether on or off this hasnt helped. ive tried different combination of settings in the main app settings, those being root mode, direct mode, samsung root mode, usa and canada s3 mode (im in canada) and run in foreground but nothing has solved my problem although toying with these has gotten the app to work at all.
my fix for this has been to close all applications, disable light flow, close light flow, and reenable light flow and that will usually fix the problem for a little while but it always returns.
i have always had problems with light flow working, even before when running CM10, but after a lot of tweaking and experimenting with settings the app would settle down and function properly. im not having quite the same luck with CM11.
so let me know if any of you are running light flow successfully and could give me some insight on what settings you are using
OR let me know if there is a simpler app that allows notification editing. i primarily want to be able to control vibration settings for hangouts (not alterable in the apps settings) because i need a really long vibrate to be able to notice it.
Hi there,
I updated to Lollipop last week and am noticing that some of the stuff that used to be there, isn't there? For example on the lockscreen I used to use widgets for playing music however I cant see where the option is set to allow widgets on the lockscreen, so I am guessing this functionality has been removed. I also have no notification LED other than the charging orange light and the full green light. If I get any other notifications these do not show any notification LED? Is this something else that has been lost in the upgrade?
cheers
Ray
