Anyone attempted to port our swype from stock 2.1? Because honestly that's the best swype to even use and I can't go back to 2.1 to use it.

Forgive me if there is already an answer to this on the forum. I did some searching and didn't see one. Basically, I am wondering if any of the custom ROMS available for the EVO unlock the native wifi tethering that is part of froyo. I am running the rooted version of the 2.2 update, but the feature is hidden. It seems like if it is part of the OS, it should be able to be unlocked and included in the custom ROMS. Would be greatfull for anyone who can point me in the right direction on this as I don't want to have to use the wifi tether app if I don't have too.
Thanks,
Justin
CM6 does that. You will lose Sense though.
I was looking into that one. I am ok with looking sense, but I don't want to loose 4g. Does C6 have working 4g yet?

Tethering is working on the latest rom from Fresh if you run Netarchy's kernel.
am i missing something or why not just use wifi tether?
does that not hit 4g? if it does, why not just use that and keep sense? (not that sense is all that wonderful)
At the time of this post, WiFi tether app was not working with froyo. It is now, but its performance isn't that great.

How do I get arabic language support for the slide?
Running CM7
You might need to download it as an add-on, idk. I'm surprised it isn't built in

Looked through market and found nothing. I can download the keyboard and the language pack for the softkeyboard but it can't be read on a website.

I have been unable to get voice search to work since I started using cm7. I have tried various versions of the gapps and have wiped before installs. Anyone else been having this issue?

did you install voice search from the market?
Yes, I have actually got it to work a few times with a certain gapps file but when I reboot it goes into a boot loop and I have to restore a stable nandroid. Guess ill just wait until the first stable comes out and then give it another shot.

You have to use the gingerbread 0115 gapps from the cyanogenmod latest version wiki page. Otherwise you get boot [email protected]

Ill give that a try because I think I have been using 0120

Thanks musicman, the 0115 did the trick. Got everything working now.

Yeah I think the 0120 was simply a newer version of gapps for froyo, which included the newer market and newer gmail/gmaps, but they were for froyo not gingerbread. Easily confused
I upgraded to 2.2.1 from the HTC WEB site, but yet Watchespn still fails to install. Android market site reports it's not compatiable with the phone, mytouch 3g slide.
Anybody have any luck or know why it doesn't work.
From what I read, it should work with Android 2.2 and above.
Thanks in Advance
Im willing to bet its because you need flash to watch anything on that app. The slide doesnt support flash so you're out of luck

Also will add, it doesn't show up from the phone when you log into Android Market.
Thanks for the flash info....
Can anyone pull the default phone app from the mytouch slide? Will it be able to be installed and used on other phone, say the G2?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I think that's tied to Sense phones only, so other phones without HTC Sense won't be able to use it.

I'd love the same thing. When I switch from the MTS to the G2 I was missing that dialer. You should be able to get it by flashing a Sense ROM.
I think there are some Sense "clones" on the market... or you could go with something like Go Contacts.
Downside is, nothing is integrated with everything else like Sense can be.
