Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area, I desparately need help.
After trying to backup my current ROM with clockworkmod, I got the following message when trying to flash any ROM:
E: can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory)
I tried different sd cards but the result is the same. Is this a sd card problem, or is my phone's sd card slot problem?

I've been running TJs nonsense rom for a little while now and loved it. Someone posted about how they used another kernel on it with great results, so I tried to flash it. It got me stuck in a bootloop. So I put my sd card on my computer and downloaded the stock evo #15 kernel onto it, but now when I go on it won't mount the sd card! This is a problem because I can't even restore to my old backup. I'm currently without a phone until I can get this fixed, please help
EDIT: When I try to mount it it says "Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory)"
Well.. I just kept trying the SD card over and over and it eventually mounted. So I flashed #15 and am good.
Whilst attempting to install MIUI 1.14 I got an error that the zip was invalid or something along those lines. I then rebooted but the Desire got stuck in a boot loop. After wiping the phone and formatting the SD card it booted fine, however the SD card is still not recognised, ADB doesn't work and the USB debugging icon keeps coming up as though it keeps getting reconnected. When I try to mount it in recovery, I get:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0 (no such file or directory)
and
E:Can't mount SDCARD:/nandroid/
Any help much appreciated.
Oh, and the memory card works fine on an old Hero I have lying around so the problem isn't there. Is there anyway I can restore it to stock over USB? It boots fine and is recognised in fastboot, as well as showing up in device manager.

Click to collapse
forget the hero
the problem IS the sdcard if recovery cannot mount it as well as the rom
these are two seperate os's
if the zip file was not intact then it would point to there being sdcard corruption and the bootloop will also happen due to faulty SD
If i were you i would put it in a card reader and use h2testw to check the integrity of the card
if that is successful then format the card from the device itself in settings>sdcard & storage
Thanks for the advice. I don't currently have a micro SD card reader (only an SD card one), although I can get one tomorrow fairly easily.
However, given I formatted the card from the Hero's recovery would it not make more sense to go straight to a new SD card? I might be able to borrow one to confirm, regardless. Oh, and how is the ADB issue likely to tie into all of this?
my phone is running on Leedroid 2.3.3 custom roms. I have just formatted my sdcard with FAT32 partition and i can't apply sdcard:update.zip
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
E:Can't find /sdcard/update.zip
Installation aborted.
but I did have an update.zip in my sdcard. And now when I start my phone, it just keep restarting after Leedroid's startup
anyone care to help? thanks a million
Well, I would say if you just formatted your sd card, you might need to make it a "gold card" again. Just a guess.
Also, does Leedroid require that you have certain partitions on your sd card?
You can also try this command to re-enable your sd card if you have fastboot:
Code:
fastboot oem enable qxdm 0
Whenever I go into recovery and try to install a zip from sdcard,I get the "E:Can't mount SD card" message.
Is there a way to fix this? The sd card 100% works.
Edit: Fixed it by formating it.
I don't know what happened, but entering in recovery and trying to install a zip from SD I get error E:can't mount /sd card. I tried some reboot but nothing changes. There is a way to backup the SD a and then recover phone? Thank you.
