I use MCR r5 2.2. it works well. but when I turn on EDGE/3G, my phone reboot alltime. if I turn off EDGE/3G, it stops booting loop(tried 2 3 times to turn off edge/3g).
I tried another ROM 2.2, another Radio, but there's nothing changes, phone reboot itself. even more seriously, sometimes when I go to recovery mode, it still reboot itself here and freezing. I must pull out battery and try again.
information about my desire( rooted/ no lock fone):
baseband: 32.42.00.32U_5.09.00.08
kernel 2.6.32.15-g1fc4045
[email protected]#1
build number 2.06.832.1 cl207528 test-keys
MCR r5
when I flash new ROM: I wipe system/Factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik( I dont know I wipe Dalvik correctly or not, because I can not see any information about successfully wipe Dalvik ), format ext, flash new ROM, new radio. is it correct?
i have tried radio 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04, 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.
any advice for me? sorry my bad English
any help for me . should I try up kernel? My phone is still rebooting now
( Im so confused... I have tried to up ROM again and now it is freezing at HTC screen... what can I do now (.
Can't help you with a direct solution, but I do know that it's not needed to flash the radio every time you flash a ROM.
To end the bootloop I suggest you try it without the ext partition.

thanks for your advice... . i format my sd card with full FAT32( delete Ext2) and the phone boots again( now I use MCR 3.1 radio 4.06.00.02_2, not use froyo ). It went to home screen and looks fine. but sometime it reboots itself. I pulled out sd card and SIM but it still reboot sometimes.
sometimes loop booting, the phone vibrates 7 times quickly at HTC screen after that, it freezes. I must pull out the battery
any advice for me?
anybody see the phone go to recovery mode, but sometimes it reboot itself quickly 7 times( vibrate 7 times in 1 2 seconds) and freeze...
I see an "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" in recovery mode when I press + button? what is it?
put your microSD card into a PC using an adapter and run a chkdsk on it
start -> run or start -> search (on vista/7)
type in: CMD and press enter
then type in: CHKDSK X: /f /v /r (where X is the current drive letter assigned to your microSD)
If you're literate enough in linux, and you have an ext2/3 partition, you can also run e2fsck on that partition
from your favourite shell:
e2fsck /dev/sdX2 ( where X is the current device letter assigned )

Are you still able to get to the recovery and stay in the recovery? If so, in recovery go to the option format. Format youre sdcard, swap=0, ext2=512, remainder is fat32. Then upgrade the ext2==>ext3.
Go back to the mainscreen in the recovery and press usb-toggle. Then copy the rom from youre pc to youre sdcard. If done press trackball to disable usb-toggle.
It also might be that youre sdcard is corrupt as poster above me wrote
Then flash the rom and see what happens.
I am having the same issue. All new radio (for 2.2 froyo) will cause random reboot during 3G usage.
The easiest way to reproduce the problem is to keep browsing google map for a few minutes using 3G connection.
Flashing froyo custom rom with old radio (4.06.00.02) does not have this issue, but losing camcorder features...
Anyone idea for this?
sounds similar to my problem (for which i have a partial solution):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7533671&postcount=220
Maybe one of the radio images updated something which shouldn't be updated?
I think this is a general software problem which is pushing the hardware to its limits however people seem to think it is purely a hardware issue.
I had the same issue. After trying everything to fix the problem fully bricked my phone to where it wouldn't even start. I personally its all hardw are.. got my phone replaced and now works fine... I spoke to my carrier and they did say some of the desires just have issues
If possible replace the device , if not I hope u guys eventually sort it out
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
thank all for your attention.
I flashed my phone to MCR 3.1 with radio 4.06.00.02( of course wipe everything). it boot well, to home screen . but sometimes it still reboots itself( now it's on 2.1, not on froyo 2.2 any more)
in recovery mode still have: "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"
anybody meets the phone vibrates 7times( reboot) at HTC screen then freezing?

download full wipe from xda.. google it "full wipe 1.3 xda" put the zip in ur sdcard.. put the rom(watever rom ur using) in sdcard as well ..
now take battery off ur phone.. back in.. press and hold vol down + power key.. u will go into bootloader.. then click on recovery.. ur phone will boot into CMW recovery > install zip fro sdcard.. 1st do a full wipe.. then flash the rom again.. u will be fine
i'll try now, so happy some one can help, i havent sleept for hours
Else if that does not work ( when i try to boot into recovery that way my phone vibrates, shows a green light and does nothing.. )
connect the phone to your computer and in ADB type: " reboot recovery "
I agree with leather face, I haven't tried this method but I have heard this will solve your problem, when I had the same sort of problem I downloaded the ace stock rom the placed the file on my SD card then took my battery out then reinserted it & powered back on while holding down the volume down button then once in bootloader select fastboot then it will ask to load zip, select yes now it will say done, reboot then you should be back at the beginning again with a working phone start again from scratch but this time do a wipe from recovery and make sure you are using the correct clockwork with the correct rom ie clockwork 2.*.*.* with Cyanogen 6 & clockwork 3.*.*.* with Cyanogen 7 & then you should be just fine mate
now i've tried... it says it cant find recovery file? in CWM loader
it says wrong image...
edit: signature is wrong (or some thing like that) should i rename the .zip file?
or sould i generate a Goldcard for MD98IMG.zip?

You'll only need a goldcard if your phone is branded.
With something like a T-Mobile Bootscreen or else.
The Filename should be PD98IMG.zip and it should be in the root folder of your SD.

Dude,DON'T PANIC!
Download the attached CWM 2.5.1.3 rar and unrar it.
Now,do you have ADB setup on your pc?If not, search for a guide(Google is your friend),there are many.Supposing you have ADB setup, place the downloaded CWM .img file inside the folder where fastboot is.Open CMD in windows(Type cmd in RUN on your start menu) and there type "cd" and navigate to the folder where fastboot is,like "cd C:/YourPc'sName/android/tools" without the quotes. If it changes folder(it will if you type everything correctly) type without the quotes "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.3-ace.img".The you will be able to boot in recovery through fastboot.
Else, you can use Fastboot commander which is supposed to have a nice GUI and make things easier, but I haven't used it.
Hope I helped!
FIXED,
Fith Fastboot commander (putting my phone in FASTBOOT USB)
Flashing CWM tool, after that I'm da king (Thanks to all, specially mimilover)
Installed Rom, kernel and now nunning 1300Mghz trying it out...
Hopefully I can get some answers here....I've got an EVO 4g.
Rooted it with Revoked 3, successfully.
Then, I went straight to downloading Cyanogen 7 from the website. It said it installed and went the the blue screen with the circling arrows. But, it kept re-booting over and over and never went to my home screen.
Heres where I'm at:
If I turn my phone on it goes to the white HTC Evo 4g screen shuts off and goes to Recovery.
I am able to get into my SD in USB on recovery.
I DID NOT Wipe before installing the rom. I prolly missed some steps, but hey, I'm learning now. When I tried to install the Cyanogenmod 7 again, it says this:
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img" ,
"boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/cm_supersonic_full-86.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted
PLEASE HELP!
Click on "amon_RA Recovery" in my signature to download amon_RA's PC36IMG.zip file and place it on the root of your SD card. Afterwards, shutdown your device. Now simultaneously, press the DOWN volume button and the power button until your EVO starts. Afters a short pause, a few lines of text will scroll across the screen. After that, the bootloader *should* automatically detect the PC36IMG.zip file and prompt you to install it. Follow the prompts to install it. Installation takes less than 10 seconds to complete. When it's done, reboot into your new recovery, go to the wipe menu and wipe EVERYTHING in it EXCEPT the SD card. DO NOT REBOOT! Go to the flash zip menu and flash your rom. Afterwards, flash the GAPPS.zip, if necessary and then reboot your device. Be patient on the first boot.
Not wiping was your main problem, and with Amon Ra, anytime you flash a new ROM, after you do a nandroid backup of everything but cache, wipe everything, except the SDcard, like Dougjamal said.
That is a critical step.
And yeah, the first boot up will take some time, possibly up to 10 minutes or so...
Be patient. you'll know you're fine as long as the boot animation isn't bootlooping (freezing for a sec, then restarting the animation). Once your key lights come on, you'll know you're there.
ok, I'm going to try it. Yea...after I downloaded it it was bootlooping, so I took the battery out and when I put it back in, it wouldnt move past the htc boot screen. I'm trying that now. That PC36 file is only 3.45MB's. shouldnt it be bigger?

No sir. It is not a rom. It's a recovery. I got the link directly from amon's thread.
ok when I come into the boot screen it just reads the pc36img file and does nothing. Doesn't ask me to install or anything? What could cause that?

First of all, look at the top of the screen and see if it still states "S-OFF". If it states "S-ON', you need to re-root. Is there any other file with the name PC36IMG.zip on the root of your SD card? If there is, move it to a folder and leave the one for amon_RA in place. Also, make sure that the file does not contain a second zip suffix (For example: PC36IMG.ZIP.zip). If it does, remove the extra .zip from the name. If all of that has been checked, turn OFF your device and try again. It should take. If it does not, replace the file with a freshly downloaded one.
whoops had to flash unrevoked forever again.
Man I ****ing love you guys! It worked! Thanks alot! Sorry for the language haha.

***first of all , yes i searched (hours) in the net for any solutions , but non of them were a suitable solution for my problem .
****and i am not a newbie , i just opened a new account
so i am having my problem with my htc evo 4G (CM 7.1 nightly 256) ;
all start when i accidently uninstalled bustybox (not the installer the package itself) - and the uninstallation ended in failure...
so the first thing i tried to do is to reinstall it , but it sad it having problem with getting a superuser permission - and yes i checked it , and it actually do getting positive permission from the superuser ...
so the first problem I faced is getting the wifi work , when I am trying to connect to my router and it starting to maintain a ip address , it gets stuck in that position .
so after I tried a several fixes , without luck , I decided to restore my nanadroid backup ;
so I went to the bootloader and when I press the restore option it doesn’t go to clockworkmod it just like rebooting and coming back to the same bootloader ,only with other options (reboot , bootloader, shut down…) .
so this is my problem , I already delete my personal files (apps…) from my droid , so I have now a clean android …
while I tried to fix my problem I noticed that i am getting problems with all the superuser permission staff … for example apps that need a su permission doesn’t work (root explorer) .
so my droid is pretty f%^ked , I am having s-off , but without clockworkmod restore , and problem with the su, and again WIFI .
a help will be much appreciated .
I've had a similar issue. I personally prefer the Amon_RA recovery. Try this:
-Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026.
-download PC36IMG.zip and place into the root of your SDcard.
-Power off phone. Boot into boot loader(volume down then power button; make sure fast boot is turned off)
-In bootloader choose to "update" when asked to by pushing volume up button.
-try to enter recovery.
-Flash whatever rom you want.
-If you want Clockworkmod recovery: Once you have access to your phone install Rom manager and install Clockworkmod recovery
Download Amon Ra recovery. Rename to PC36IMG or PC36IMG.zip. (i don't remember if it needs the ".zip" part or not. Try it both ways. Put on root of sdcard. Boot into bootloader. It will ask to update. Select yes. You will then have a recovery. Go into recovery and reflash the rom.

I think you have to leave the ".zip." Not 100% sure though. I leave it intact and it still recognizes it.

I'm saying the first time he did it,before everything got screwed up,anyway, download the latest release of RA's recovery,if its not already, rename it to PC36IMG.zip,don't unzip it,put it on the root of your SD card, turn off your phone, turn it on while holding down on the volume rocker, once in Hboot,it will ask you if you want to update, hold the volume rocker in the up position, then it will install the new recovery,it will then ask you if you want to reboot, hold the volume rocker in the down position, then scroll and go into recovery, have you partitioned your sd card yet?
no success ;
i put the file in the root of my sd card , and when i go to the bootloader the only thing that happen is that it like freeze for a 3 seconds and write after "searching for PC36DIAG.zip ...... .. .. PC36diag.niff ... no success/didn't find " (something like that) - not something new BTW ... and than i get the standard menu.
and no , i didn't turn fastboot off , because i don't have this option , for my knowledge its a option from the retail htc rom , not on CM .
and for what i need to partition my sd card , the rom is in the internal phone memory.

The file should read PC36IMG and its a zip file.
Its better to partition, most newer roms are requiring it and its great on saving internal memory. What Hboot version are you running?
Is what we might have to do is update your Hboot, sounds like yours could be corrupted.

The recovery has to be named PC36IMG.zip as it is a zip folder.containing a script telling boot loader what to do and how to doit if u downloaded it as a zip file DO NOT NAME IT PC36IMG.zip.zip just change the file name prior to the
.zip extension to PC36IMG which is case sensitive and must be in caps

Correct; I'd just like to add, try to call the .zip a package, cuz in the past, when people have referred to them as 'folders' people started creating actual folders named PC36IMG.zip and placing the zip inside them...lol
A second addition, a PC36IMG file is flashed only in the bootloader, not the recovery screen.

Ok , so i have HBOOT 6.16.1002 , radio 2.15.00.0808...
i think maybe i need to unroot my phone and than root it again , god knows how ...
please guys (and girls [if you are a girl - dibs ]) help me !!!
Try this if all else fails.
First boot into your bootloader, select FASTBOOT, then hit the power button. Then connect your phone to your computer. It should read FASTBOOT USB in red.
Since you used Revolutionary, you should already have the My HTC driver installed under your device manager under Android USB devices. If not this will never work until My HTC is installed.
Extract the zipped files attached to a folder called sdk on your C-drive. Then open a command prompt and type
c: <ENTER>
cd /sdk <ENTER>
fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-supersonic-3.11-gnm.img <ENTER>
fastboot reboot-bootloader <ENTER>
If that works, hit the power button to select bootloader, then see if you can get into this recovery (it's Amon). I also believe you have and issue with your SD card, but I could be wrong.

Adding adb in linux is a bit of a chore, as you have to add the respositories and change the bashrc file. Though you can always use windows as a fall back.
Hi, I have a Desire HD and I just flashed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460820

did u do a full wipe? just do a full wipe, and then reflash the rom.
Also, make sure that the md5sum is the correct for the rom zip file. If the file is corrupted, then u will never be able to flash it.
How do I do a full wipe? I can access recovery, so how do I do it from there?
select the option wipe data/ factory reset
BUT as you can imagine all your data will be deleted!
and use the + / - buttons for selecting; wake up button should be the enter button
I did that, but the problem still persists.
then use an other rom that you can flash.. maybe the rom you downloaded is broken?

Every rom in the site has a MD5SUM, that is a unique number to check is the file is corrupted or not.
When in the sdcard, the check using a cmd as admin the following
(whatever directory the sdcard is) ¿?:\FOLDER THE FILE IS ON\md5sum NAME OF FILE.ZIP
check that number...if that is ok, then change the rom.
Do you use alot of apps perhaps ?
Are these moved to SD ?
I too had problems with Rebooting after upgrading and it appears a HUGE BUG was introduced in the official Gingerbread OS ...
Check this link out and see how many hundred of others have this reboot bug:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=25563
There is however a fix for those with rooted phones, simply install LINK2SD, which runs a boot-up script and allows you to save/link all your apps on SD card in a 2nd seperate partition (ideally use format ext4 for this partition) and makes the phone believe these are all installed on the local data space ..
