Sup forum. So with this new market coming out OTA. How do i get it OTA?? Is it going to be through a software update from htc/google?? Im rooted so i know OTA software updates are off limits. Is the only way to get it is download through xda (when its stable) then install? Im not too worried about getting it, got all the apps i need..just wondering..

Market is completely separate. It updates itself. You can force an update by flashing a new Vending.apk. Just search around...
If you are running Myn, you can download the APK from the thread in Themes and Applications section, and it will work. I had no problems at all on my phone Myn RLS 4.
I couldn't get it to work with my wifes phone (Running Fresh 3.4.0.1). I tried EVERYTHING

I just installed my first ROM on my evo. Its Fresh Evo 1.0.1 by flipz frimware verison 2.1-update1.
To install it I used the OTA simpleRoot.
Anyways then I also installed gapps-hdpi-frf91-2-signed.zip
The problem is that whenever I try to add my google account it always ends up with a force close
Also my marketplace or vending.apk is missing.
So what should I do now?
I have searched extensively and have not found a solution to my problem.
Problem: cannot sign in to google account (cannot find a secure connection)
I can flash a 2.1 rom and sign in / download without any problems.
When 2.2 first came out (leak) I could use market but at some point it stopped working.
I have tried every fix on the net. Wiped everything tried every 2.2 rom including early leaks that used to work. wifi does nothing. I can log in to you tube which then lets me use gmail however market will hang instantly and give an error.
I would like to install the 2.1 version of market on a 2.2 rom but I have no idea how to do that. simply replacing vendor.apk does nothing except remove market completely. If this is possible somehow I am willing to try... just need some direction. If it is not possible thats fine too I just would like to know so i can stop trying. lol.

checkin failed.
checkin works on 2.1 though obviously.
funny when i went on 2.1 i got the upgrade notification instantly.
this was on a non stock rom, rooted w/s-off and latest radio. of course it wouldn't install but i thought it checked these things before notifying. guess not.
just playing on 2.1 for awhile it is definitely laggy compared to 2.2
coming from winmo 2.1 seemed insanely fast lol. funny how things change.

I have been having market issues too. I can get in to the market, but when I try to download an app, it starts then quickly says "download unsuccessful." Right now I am running Redemption ROM (pretty nice BTW), s-off and radio 2.15. I can't even download titanium to get my apps restored. I don't think it is ROM based since the market wasn't working with Virtuous either. Any ideas or known fixes?
I tried searching, but didn't find any answers to this. If there is a thread about it, I apologize, and feel free to point me to that thread. Thanks.

Re-root as 2.2 with Clockwork mod 2.5.0.5, I'm @ 2.2, that ROM and no issues for me.
Just a suggestion (Nandroid 1st!).

i've done all that a million times. tried older recovery builds, amon-ra recovery, even stock recovery on 2.2. already said i tried all 2.2 roms out... this includes asop roms.
i have a feeling this has more to do with how 2.2 is trying to identify which network i am on which for some reason market wants to know.
how 2.1 can do the job just fine is what i need to know.
I have been using the same old Fresh Evo rom from basically day one since I've had my evo when it first came out... Yesterday I decided it was finally time to upgrade from 2.1 to a 2.2 rom - so I downloaded the latest Fresh Rom 3.5.0.1 which worked fine except that I couldn't add my google account for the life of me. It wouldn't take when phone first booted up, or by manually launching the Market app either, didn't matter if it was via 3G or WiFi (and I checked and double checked and confirmed that data was working on both just fine!).
So I spend an hour googling around & find out about the YouTube app trick, so I sign in through that, and I'm in! Now when I go to Settings > Accounts & Sync, I see my Google account has been added. I can sync my gmail, contacts, and calendar. I thought all was good...
But now when I run the Market app I get the following: Attention - "A server error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen." ...If I hit 'retry' it just shows the same stupid error & 'cancel' kicks me out to home screen. When I load GTalk it tries to load but just kicks me to the home screen...
Frustrated, I went on a rom flashing spree (before each flash I do a "Wipe data/factory reset" & "wipe cache" & "wipe dalvik-cache")... I installed the previous version of Fresh 3.4.0.1 (also froyo) and no dice. I then flashed the most recent 2.1 Fresh rom which was v1.0.1 (pre froyo) and it WORKED! So then I flashed back to the latest Fresh 3.5.0.1 but still have the same issues. I then flashed Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS5 (which is a dope rom btw) but I am STILL getting the same stupid issues... Flashed back to Fresh rom v1.0.1 and of course that works... but it seems anything with Froyo doesn't work!
The EXACT same thing is happening to another Evo I also updated yesterday as well. So I know it's not a problem specific to just the ONE phone...
I'm stumped. Any ideas? I've tried clearing the cache for the Market app, I've done a factory reset via "Settings > SD & Phone Storage > Factory Data Reset", I've used a completely different & freshly formatted microSD card, I've enabled 'mock locations', I've ensured 'background data' was checked... I've even done the adb commands from geekfor.me/new-release/fresh-evo-3501/ with no luck...
This is driving me nuts!

I've always done my updates manually... I have a 3rd evo that doesn't have this problem that I recently updated to Fresh 3.5.0.1 and it's working just fine. But it wasn't a launch phone, and after rooting, the first rom I flashed to it was a 2.2 based Fresh rom anyway...
Still racking my brain on this... I recently tried flashing this blue version of the market update @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888330 - thought I'd give it a shot but I'm still having the same issues.
I've also flashed latest MIUI, EViO, SteelROM... no luck. If I don't do the YouTube trick, the Market will give me the following error: "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". But the funny thing is I am able to load webpages both prior & after trying to sign in with my google account. And then if I do the YouTube trick, again I am able to add my google account, but whenever I access the market it shows the error I mentioned in my first post...
I'm having this same problem..I haven't flashed a new market yet so I'll be trying that next.

Edit: Flashing new market didn't work, said instalation was aborted...I'm thinking cause it's for 2.3 GB and I'm on Froyo
Also, just to note, I had to do the youtube login trick in order to get my google accounts to sync
Same problem. This sucks.
I don't know if this would have much to do with it, but have you upgraded your radio? I know that most of the 3.70 based roms (the majority of newer roms) require a minimum radio version. I believe there is a post in the development section with all the radio files. Be sure you have your wimax partition backed up before you flash though, just to be in the safe side.

i had a similar problem a while ago and what helped me was uninstalling the market with titanium backup, then going to settings/apps/manage apps/ and clearing the data from the market, then i downloaded the stock market, it was a while ago so i don't remember where i found the thread to the stock market download. but after doing that my market began working again
I love this rom, been running it for a while. I was just curious if there was a way to update the google market? i had the update on other roms ive had but not this one. Any help would be great.

You can just download the new market apk. Then, you just install, it will update that way. There are several threads with the apk posted in the general section.
...If you have trouble finding the market apk for some reason, you should be able to update it by simply using it. Browse for some games or tools or something for like 10-15 minutes, then when you leave and come back it should be updated
So iv been playing around with Bootmanager and every rom i install into this puppy i get a missing android market poop up. SO i did some reading and found out if your missing Google market your rom will not start up the right way. Anyone know were I can find a flash-able Google market for the EVO 4g that's up to date
If you're running CM7 or a similar AOSP rom, did you flash gapps? If not, you need to do that and you'll have your Market and other Google Apps back.
