[Q] SparksMod - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

can anyone por sparks mod for the g1 over to the mytouch slide?
original thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753893

You might get a faster response if this was posted in the right section. Furthermore, I doubt that a dev will take a personal request, unless multiple people request it, fair warning there. Most of the devs work on their own stuff.

For personal requests go to http://www.jdfroyo.com , and request in the request section!

Decide it should go in ROM Development
Has nothing to do with ROM Development

Wow. I am gonna say what he said but more politly. This section is for development of roms, adb and such your question should be asked in the general section or the Q & A section of the expresso forums

[Q] ETA on APK version of the Root Exploid?

dont mean to sound like a ****, but can anyone give me and ETA?
im a complete noob when it comes to the current root process and im much more familiar with the APK process, like the one with the MT3G.
so can any devs give me an ETA?
sorry to sound like an asshole
As far as I know, no one is developing a "one click" apk to root.

Correct. My policy: if you're unable to follow the simple directions currently used to root the Espresso, you have no business rooting your handset in the first place. Great root comes with great responsibility. Having a little background knowledge should be a prerequisite.
Moved to Q&A, please don't post question threads in Development.

sorry bout tht
It may be supported on future universal androot apks but I doubt it to be honest
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Ohhhh you can soft root with the new version of universal androot.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Isn't that explained in the S-OFF status thread that is stickied in the dev forum? It says once they get the S-OFF working 100%, they'll attempt to apk it to hide how they did it, only so official phone devs don't use it to make it harder to root on future phones... or somethin like that.
Yeah they should so they can't make them harder to be rooted indeed

FN and CAPS leds

FYI they are working in the newest nightlies if someone hasn't post it yet if so MOD please delete thread.
Sorry if it had been posted previously.

I believe it said in the commit/update list. They tell you all the changes in the commit list.

Seriously?
SERIOUSLY?
I mean, SERIOUSLY?
You couldn't bother to look in either the CM6 Nightlies thread or the Official CyanogenMod 6 thread to see if someone had posted about this? Because I had posted to both those threads about this days ago...
Why oh why are you so full of #fail?
Here's a very simple request: if you're not actually actively involved in Android Development, don't create a thread in the Android Development forum.
Feh.
Are you stupid or retard as phuck did you not read the whole thing. I did apologize if it had been reported since I didn't see in the nightly thread. Truly a dumb fuk, indeed!

I'm not sure if I'm worthy of being able to post a reply buy FYI I check xda, I don't really check anywhere else so this thread was of good news to me tyvm OP.

Unless you want to get banned I would suggest you cease using that sort of language on this site.
Don't apologize if your question has been asked before, USE the search function and save everyone time.
I don't blame Hebrew for his reaction, the Dev forum is littered with useless threads asking questions instead of searching.

Imho, neither one replied with constructive comments. If nothing else, it let more people become aware of the fix. The op was just trying to help regardless of it being posted elsewhere.

I actually think this does warrant a thread. Some of us not using the CM nightlies don't check it often. And since I think the FN and CAPS led's was not only a nightlies issue, not everyone, including me, would have thought to check just that thread. So to the OP, thanks for the thread, it may convince me to switch to the latest CM nightly.

Respectfully, I disagree. This belongs in the nightlies thread. Fragmenting an existing topic means more threads to check; more threads=more frustrated noobs=more random question threads in dev forum

But wasn't the FN/CAPS lights not just specific to the nightlys? I thought this was any Froyo ROM out there had the issue? If anything, maybe it was specific to CM, but if you were not running the nightlys, you would again not know to look there. That was all I thought... I am rnuning TeamFenix with the FN/CAPS lights not working, so I definitely would not have thought to look at the nightlys.
Then again, I guess maybe a different sub forum would have been more appropriate rather than the dev forums...

Team Fenix is based off of CM6, so I would venture to assume that the FN/CAPS problem is a CM6 problem. I think this post belongs in a CM thread as that is where it is best served.

Hey guys, from now on let's start threads about every single change in the nightlies!

#fail
All you had to do with look one *page 1* of the Android Development forum. Page. One. There are *two* threads entirely devoted to CyanogenMod 6 and instead of checking there first, you created a new thread to post about a BUG FIX!
Amazing.
Simply amazing.

I don't think every change deserves a thread...but the original poster didn't do any harm in posting this and making people more aware of the fix. (Other than make the trolls pour out of the wood work) .
It was brought up that this could cause more useless threads to be created...
This could be looked at from another perspective and because there is a dedicated thread people wont make a thread asking for a fix for their keyboard leds. This is all a matter of opinion and there is no right or wrong answer.

You are right to think it is wrong to think there is a right or wrong answer

Or, better yet, people should be viewing the CM6 changelog on github to learn about new features and bugfixes. And if they want to post about it here, use the threads dedicated to CM6.
This is a VERY simply concept.
I've moved this out of Development, but would like to remind everyone to please keep it friendly.
I agree that we should keep it friendly. I hate how we bash each other especially when the intent of this post was in good spirit. The guy made a mistake, but not one that deserved all this bashing. Please lets be grown ups about this. Thanks.

[Q] [REQ] Looking but not commenting on the Dev Only Sections?

Hey
I was wondering if it could be made possible so that normal users could look, but not comment on, the dev only sections?
I for one am not a dev however I would love to look over their current findings and progress on certain things related to cracking the bootloader on the Atrix 4G
Thanks for your time

You can already do this. It is the subforum under atrix 4g, called atrix 4g Android development
Yea but I was told that there is a dev ONLY forum somewhere that we cannot see or post In. :/

Well... whoever told you that is sorta wrong There will be one soon, and there is an old one at present, but I can assure you that you've not missed anything whatsoever in that forum...
All development takes place in the dev forums you can see.
RE the new forum for devs to chat in, it won't be publicly visible, but it's not exactly going to be the place development is going on at...
Ah I see thanks for your help

Spectrum section?

Mods. Can you please give us spectrum owners a new home. Currently we are running off of androidforums. And the mods there are getting powerhungry and starting to be nazis in our threads. Plus since the spectrum and nitro are damn near the same device alot of mods and tweaks can be used between both.
Feel free to move this if its posted in the wrong section
