As with all smiliar topics, I saw a good deal on an EVO on craigslist. 250 for one flashed to cricket. Is it possible to flash it back to sprint?
Run the 3.30 RUU from your computer while phone is USB cabled?
Just a heads up, you will want to check the ESN to make sure its not lost or stolen. Sprint wont let you activate a bad ESN, that's probably why it was flashed to Cricket in the first place.
Hey... This thing makes phone calls too!
Chances are a used Evo already flashed to Cricket has a bad ESN and can't be used with Sprint any more

Hello Gentlemen and Ladies.
I was recently given a rooted Sprint HTC EVO 4G.
I bowed down and kissed the ground in thanks.
We, my benefactor, and I went post haste to the Sprint Store to get my number transferred over on to my miraclulous new device.
This went fine. We got the number swapped to the new phone, BUT
driving home we realized that it actually did not work.
So we called sprint tech support and after a long difficult conversation we realized they could not assist us.
Im asking you Kings and Queens of the Evo 4G.....is there a way I can get a rom that will allow Sprint tech support to assist me in getting my phone set up properly?
and WHICH of the 9jillion roms should i flash to?
Thank you in advance from a sparkly new noob who is worthy of nothing but contempt.
For ease of use for them activating it, just flash a stock rom, preferrably the latest one. Then once it's fully activated, you can flash another rom you like. Technically you should be able to activate it with any sense rom, but again, to make it easy for you and sprint just flash a stock one.
I agree, I would flash a stock rom that does not unroot your phone:

OK, long story short. My wife and I both have HTC Evo 4gs that we had flashed over to metro pcs. Yes, they were bad esn, owing sprint money still. Now I am going to be traveling extensively for work, and cannot rely on the extremely limited service MEtroPcs has to offer. I will be switching to Boost. Like wise, my wifes phone has been seriously bugging out, to no avail. My question, with both of the phones being flashed, is it possible to switch her account info and number over to my phone ?? Metro had told us at one point that they couldnt assign me a new number because of the flashing, but this isnt quite the same
My old e4gt got stolen
I have the same donor phone ( samsung incognito ) that I used to flash my last epic 4g touch.
can I reuse that donor phone to flash a new galaxy s2 to boost mobile again?
Cheers
unless the stolen ET ESN changes, you are SOL, cause you will have 2 of the same donor ESN floating around.
if you report it stolen the esn is blocked.
You get where I am going with this.

Now that you explain it... it makes sense after all.
And if I went ahead and flashed it once some jerk turns on my old phone, I would get an error and loose it all.
Ok thanks,
If you think of anything else let me know.
Cheers
:good:
your welcome, it kinda sucks cause if it was a clean sprint ET esn they pretty much got a free ET if they know what they are doing and change the stolen ET back to the sprint ESN under the back cover.
but only xda members can be that clever....lol....or they know people who are on xda....lol.
you are most likely going to have to start from scratch with a new donor, or wait till the boost ET comes out.
edit...i saw you have 0 thanks, i gave you 1 to start off your quest for many to come. 8)
the good news is a found the traditional boost mobile donor
( samsung incognito ) for 25$ on craigslist,
I'm going to try and pick that phone up and use it until I can find a white epic 4g touch :0)
can you forward me to the thread that lets you get boost on 4g
Hi guys, need some help.
If I switch carrier then phone automatically get bad Sprint ESN, right? If so, thats ok, because I dont want to use Sprint.
I've got Sprint L710 but I never used CDMA before, so little bit confused with how to get rid of that Sprint and make it work with Boost even w/o 4g.. perhaps 2g or 3g if possible. Or Virgin, doesn't really matter, the most important is prepaid plan w/o contract.
I'll make a root and even if then I install custom ROM then still will be using Sprint? Or after flashing custom ROM I can go to Boost and ask them to flash their codes?
Nobody else will help me, I hope for your understanding.
As far as I know. You won't get bad esn as long as you don't have any pending balances pending.
And if you pay the early termination fee.
But I'm not sure. As far as the s3 on another net work then it would have to be flashed with whatever company your gonna use it with.
But your probably better off just selling it on craugslist or eBay and buying an unlocked international version.

When I switched from ATT contract to TMobile prepaid I just unlocked phone, pulled out ATT sim card and go forward with TMobile. I didnt make any notifications to ATT, TMobile just transferred my number in few secs.
I mean how could I make same on CDMA? Could by example Cricket take my phone to their network? Is it possible to delete all related to Sprint from my phone, make it clean as from factory? And then come to Cricket or another CDMA carrier? In that case if I terminate Sprint contract without any notification I think ESN would be bad.

Well if your gonna flash the phone to another carrier like cricket. Then bad esn or clean esn don't matter. Just go into a cricket store and tell them you need to flash your phone and they'll put other on their network.

And am I be able to get at least their Cricket's 3G?
Or for that I need to go through special procedure with donors?

What? lol
they should have a cricket store where they flash phones. Idk how the procedure is done, or how it affects the phones. But there might be something screwy with MMS, but you can always ask before you do it. and there might be a fix for that sort of stuff here at XDA
Cricket said that they flash only their phones and I cant keep my existing.
BTW finally we've switched it to Verizon prepaid

weird, down here where I'm at, they flash any phone really.
well if your S3 is just a brick there you can always sell it.
If the price is low enough i can buy it from you, or also ebay
They said that in New York area they flash only Cricket phones.
But even good, cause because of I that I got Verizon.
I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 that I got from a friend. He was with Sprint but went to another carrier so he unlocked the phone and used it with them. Now I want to use it on my Sprint acct but when I tried to activate it Sprint told me the the ESN is not in their database anymore so they can't activate it. The ESN does not show up as bad, they just say they have no record of this ESN at all.
It this point I'm not sure what to do. This phone is a better phone (it's 32 gb, mine is 16) and it's in better shape than mine so I would settle on cloning my ESN to this phone but I have not been able to find any way to do that.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can activate this phone?
Thanks!

well sprint doesn't have the ESN in there database cause it was literally moved to the other company......unless they went to a sub company of sprint cause then it would still be alright
