Hello, I am aware there have been threads about this before but I couldn't find a definitive answer.
I was wondering if it was possible to make the LED blink when notifications occur? I don't care if it can't change colors or blink a certain pattern, as long as the LED blinks from a missed call, sms or anything similar. I'd prefer not using third party apps (like handcent) if possible but if that is the only option I will go with it. Please help me out here

The latest cyan 6.1 stable allows you to edit what calls the led blink so check that out. Unless you mean while its charging if that's the case you need an app for that think its called always flash or something

I have cm's latest rom however I can't find the menu for altering notification light settings like it has on my mytouch original
I seriously doubt you've looked very hard:
Settings > Call Settings > Missed call LED notify
Messaging doesn't have a setting, but only works when the screen is locked.
Same with GMail.
If that doesn't help, then you might want to wipe and reflash, as yours is buggered.
Settings > cyanogenmod settings> user interface > led notification settings. Lets you set up different apps to use led. Messaging phone Gmail etc are all in the miscellaneous section

Anyone find a solution for customizing vibration settings when receiving SMS/MMS?
NO, handcent and go sms do NOT work. Actually, when setting a custom settings in those apps, vibrations stop completely.
I've tried tasker, but it's 1:10 that the vibration settings i enabled works. Only thing i've found tasker good for is, screen on when charging.
you want to get a vibration feedback, after the SMS has been sent?
or do you simply want to get vibration when a SMS arrives? (because that can be turn on/off by default on those Apps you mentioned)
is that what you are trying to do?
I think he means setting for haptic feedback like in CM....long vibrate...short vibrate ...millisecond tuning for vibration length...etc

what do you mean they dont work? i am using handcent and the vibration patterns work for me..i can change them to whatever i want (even custom)
make sure you are entering the format properly in handcent...its 0,______,______,______ (enter your off/on values [milliseconds], make sure there are no spaces)
might want to check your device if its not working for you...there is no problem with the app
I'm refering to custom vibration settings with receiving sms/mms. Default is 2 long pulses, id like to change that.
In handcent and gosms, you are able to allowed to enter custom vibrations settings ex: 200,0,200,0, etc. When doing so in both apps, vibrations stop completely. Also, their pre-existing options for vibration settings do not work either.
I'm just picky about how my phone vibrates when receiving sms/mms. I hate the 2 long pulses and wish it were just: 0,200,0
You obviously didn't read my post.. It does work.. It's cool though

You can download "SMS popup" from the market and mirror your stock messaging notification settings on it, disable the extra stuff like the actual sms popup feature, and when you get to vibration it has custom millisecond interval switches to adjust to your liking. Don't forget to disable notifications in stock messaging under settings and be aware that your screen won't turn on when you get a text as is by default with stock messaging there might even be a setting in sms popup to turn the screen on im not sure.
Hope this helps!

I cant believe more people dont want this feature as part of custom roms, heck even samsung roms.
my phone is on silent most of the day due to uni, and the galaxy s2 has the weakest most pathetic excuse for vibrations for recieved sms/call and i often miss it.
i realise gosms and handcent have this feature, but i dont like those bloated programs and i have privacy concerns with them.
I tried searching xda and google and haven't found an answer to this question.
I'm using BLN to make the soft keys flash and that works great, but I'd like it if the screen didn't come on at all when I'm receiving notifications.
Is there an app/tool I can use to turn that off?
Thanks
This has been covered many times but I can see how it would be difficult to search.
The solution is to either use third party texting app (like hand cent) to circumvent the auto screen on or you can do what I did if you want to use stock messaging app and download "SMS popup" from the market, disable stock messaging notifications in settings in your messaging app and setting up your desired notifications through SMS popup instead making sure to disable "screen on for text" feature and any other features you will not be using (I. E. The actual pop up feature)
Also remember to enable led light notification in order to activate bln.
With this method you also will have the added ability to set custom notification tones for specific contacts =]
Please hit thanks if I have helped you!

Ah, yeah I did see someone saying they use handsent. I was looking for a less complicated solution (ie, just turning off the screen wake lol).
I'll try that for now. Thanks
Edit ***Just put on sms popup, and that's the perfect solution. I really wanted to avoid handsent as I don't like that application, and also my current ROM won't allow me to change the stock SMS icon on the main screen (Juggernaut 5.0)
That was the last step I needed and now I finally have my phone perfectly the way I wanted it
I was dissapointed that not every app can let you choose the color for the notification led, specially Google apps, they all should have the option, I downloaded light flow, but I fins its behaviour erratic, I disabled the led for when its charging for example but sometimes it still flashes it, actually it doesn't flash the led, it stays turned on forever if I don't open the lift flow app, sometimes it stays in forever on too when I have a new message, I even delete the notification and check the message but the led won't turn off does anyone else has issues with it?
Can you recommend a better app?

Works fine for me. A notification will get "stuck" maybe once every few weeks. Other then that it works fine.

LightFlow works absolutley fine for me.
I had something that i mistook for "Phantom-Notifications". The LED was flashing without any notification in my notification-bar.
But i realised, that i have my gmail-app set to only remind me for mails in my priority inbox while lightflow was also notifying me for the normal inbox.
Maybe it is something similar on your phone.
To get my lightflow to work properly i had to go into the general settings and under main led control select 'control - lightflow controls the led' and this seemed to cure a lot of random/erratic flashes.
Where? Under general settings there's no led setting, all I was able to do was tick or untick pulse notification light under "display "

Yes under general settings, if you scroll to the bottom there is an option called 'main led control' and when i tap that it gives me 2 options, first is 'no control - default device behaviour' and the second (which i use to fix issues) is 'control - light flow controls the led'. I hope that helps you find it I do have the paid version however so if you are using the lite version i dont know if the option is there.

Sometimes I'll get no LED notifications until I manually open Light Flow, then it starts working. Kind of annoying. Is there any way to always keep it in memory?

I had issues to. But there is a setting to clear the notification when you pull down the notification bar. This works best for me. You have to do this for each app though.
Also while charging I put it so that the newest notification would turn on. That way there is no cycling etc.
U have the paid version if you have any other questions let me know.

Found it but it was in the light flow settings, I thought you were referring to the nexus main menu, I already had "lightflow controls the led " enabled

Again in light flow settings there is a tick box to run in foreground, that might help and if you use any kind of task killer make sure you add it to the exclude list
As for OP im not sure what else you can do to make it more reliable, the lightflow control worked great for me. Sorry i cant help any further

I always have that box ticked, but usually have to start the app after rebooting anyway. I didn't know people still used task killers lol.

You're exactly like me, I have the run in background option ticked, what I ended up doing is starting the app every time I turn on the phone (I turn it off every night ) this makes the app behave better, its like it doesn't start correctly by itself

I have no issue with version 3.0.2, but did with newer ones. Im still running 4.0.4
Having an issue with go sms pro which i'm sure some have had before; there is no vibration with notifications.
Now this is being caused because for some odd reason, system vibration is turned off, or so go sms says. There is no option in ANYWHERE to enable vibration in stock TW. I was able to fix this problem with my s3 by downloading a program called audiomanager, and setting it from within there, but as of new versions of this program, there doesn't seem to be an option for it in the free version.
So i come to you in a time of need. How in the world do i enable system vibration?! :crying:
Saw this on the tmobile website. Hope it helps:

If you go into messages>menu>settings>scroll down to notifications setting and make sure vibrate is checked...... The phone will vibrate even when you are in sound mode. I cant figure out how to make it vibrate only in vibrate mode for messages. Hope this helps!!!

I assume you're talking about default messaging app, and it only works for itself. If i want to use another app like go sms, i'd need to uncheck notifications in that little area, also disabling vibration.
There is a master setting that needs to be enabled for it to work in go sms, but it's no where to be found.

Did you check under setting>my device>sound>vibration intensity ?
Gonna revive this old thread for anyone who is interested in this fix.
I've tried everything in this thread and nothing worked. I decided to go to the play store and search "system settings" in hopes that someone might have made an extended settings app for this reason. I came across an app called "Smart Settings". This app allows you to create custom profiles that have an on/off toggle for notification vibration; something current touchwiz versions, if not all android versions lack. All you need to do is create a custom profile with notification vibration set to on, enable, then uninstall. There's no other app or system option that will allow you to toggle the master notification vibration setting, so 3rd party apps like gosms will work flawlessly. Switching between built in vibrate only and sound on profiles do not effect the master system vibration option.
I hope this helps anyone with this issue. It was a pain in the ass to find something that actually worked.

Success! Thanks so much, there was an app I had used ages ago that did the same thing but then they made it pro only. I didn't uninstall but froze through Titanium Backup so it's there when I get flash happy and need to restore the vibrate. Now I won't miss all my damn texts.
Glad this helped at least one person out.

So I can't stand this 9 second wait in between blinks so I installed xposed framework and the LED control module.
I cannot get this working correctly? Anybody have this working successfully?
If enable per say the messaging one. When I get a message it does not work. If I turn the screen on, then back off, it will work...but obviously that isn't right.
Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks everyone!
Verizon G3, rooted
Well I finally figured it out. In the phones standard notification settings, every option needs to be checked. I had unchecked incoming calls and downloaded apps. So once I checked every option in there it is now working! Yay! Not sure why but that fixed it
Are you running the standard version only or unlocked version?
I could only get the messaging app to correctly show LED notification, i couldn't get the phone app to display LED for missed call. Could you?
