Just got off the phone with the people from Otterbox. They are very aware of the problems with the kickstand and are working on a redesign currently. Stay tuned.
** One has to wonder how their quality control allowed that POS out the door in the first place, but I digress. The people at Otterbox are very nice; however, they are not always efficient. I had to call back twice to get a credit to my account for my broken Defender. The first time I was promised a credit it never happened. This would not be a problem except for the fact that calling Otterbox is a minimum 20 minute commitment of waiting on hold.
there was such a demand for the defender case that they rushed it out too quick.

Quick?
btw, it seems as though they used a different manufacturer for the Evo cases...thus the lower quality
Yea there was nothing quick about the evo defender release. Now the iPhone 4, that was quick!
The Defenders problem is just bad design. The thinnest part of the kickstand is where the most abuse happens - the hinge.

My biggest concern is no mesh for the speaker and mic. I work with metal and metal shavings always blow my speaker over time.

I'm using Trident Cyclops for now. But I may go Ballistic. It appears to be the toughest design out there.

Last I heard there is a couple in the works but this pos gel one from tmobile sucks and I'm afraid of damaging my mt4g. (im in construction)
Has anyone got any release dates or new info about when they might be releasing some?

Dunno about otterbox, but I know I have heard seidio has been putting up some solid cases..
Saw that that seido case but it looks pretty basic. Don't know if u have ever had an otterbox case or not but they look like they are damn near bulletproof. That seido case looks like is just a snap on cover for the back. Couldn't see any front views though

They also make the phone so much bigger it looks like you have a brick in your pocket.... lol ... nerd city
That defender case with the holster looks bad ass!
I have one on my ipod touch and yes its slightly bigger but not top bad. These phones are already big in the pocket and if a case makes them too big then you my friend need to stop wearing the skinny jeans lol

lmao! i want an impact series. not as thick as the defender but not real thin like the commuter but last i checked there only rolling out 2 casses for the time being and on alot of the phones with only 2 cases they are the defender and commuter so im worried i might have to go commuter and just be careful... my buddy has the defender on his 3gs and no doubt it is amazing (dropped it about 16ft without a scratch) and there not toooo huge but after less than a year the outter rubber has gotten fadded and stretched/loose and slides around on the outside and the built in screen protector is so scratched and hazed its impossible to see through it clearly so he might cut it out... i dont want to deal with that and being just as rough on my phone as him ill be in the same boat for sure.
Otterbox Cases are up with prices but you can't order yet
Impact: http://bit.ly/hUCrM0 Not available anymore.
Commuter: http://bit.ly/dOaA0b
I think i'm getting a commuter. What do you guys think?
FINALLY!
Deff getting a commuter
I love to see some new cases. What are the differences between these two cases? Why such a big price difference?
impact is rubber ONLY no hard shell plastic OVER rubber shell...
commuter has BOTH rubber and hard shell...
Will the commuter peel away at my screen protector like the gel case since it comes up to the edges like that?
It shoulfny

It shouldn't, though we wont know for certain until they are actually released.

I hope the commuter does not make the phone HUGE. I do love the look of it, but my car mount is almost flushed with the eBay two piece cover. It looks small in the pics. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I don't mind getting either or depending on how they go on the phone. If it a front peace and a back peace that click together no thanks... But if it slides on then thumbs up

So the impact is like a soft case? Is it similar to the gel case or no?

the impact is a one piece soft case, thicker for better protection... and the commuter is a two piece soft and hard, its like the tmobile ones they have in the stores but better, wish they had cut outs for the pins though...
I used to own Nexus with case-mate, and although nice the rubber started stretching. I ordered rubber case off ebay with screen, and it's the best one I've had - $ 8.95 with shipping.
I am thinking of getting the Commuter case.

Having previously used the defender series on my blackberry, which is even bunker than the commuter, I can say for a fact it doesn't make it much heavier at all. But it does make it nigh indestructable, lol

Love the case switching from a sedio active case that took some damage after a fall lol. This is a little bigger but much more stylish and offers more protection. Cyanogen mod + blue case + cyanbread theme = matching phone and case. Sick

The problem is in the event of a drop those hard exterior cases chip or crack. The kraken does have a mix of hard spots and silicon and pocketing my phone hasn't been an issue.

Yea it would pop off, and you could put it back on (it wasn't designed to come off). I would personally like my kickstand to stay in its... I guess it would be a socket of some type?
But yea, you get it.
I bought this case mostly because I don't have a desk job so I don't have a nice, safe place to put my new Evo. I had a BodyGlove for the Hero and that did the trick but the Evo is much larger and more expensive . Yea, it made it a beast but it's cheaper than 500 bux. It did come with a holster that keeps the screen to your inside, it comes with a screen protector and the front cover has one as well. There's also covers for the camera and LEDS built into the back. The kickstand though, that's a pos. With a little cutting I'm sure the stock kickstand would poke through just fine but it appears it may lean the phone back too much. 27.95 with free shipping:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170618159527
Just realized this says "SC" case and I have the "HC" case. Ehh, whatever though. It's basically the same case just the HC one is definitely for those that have accidents with their devices. Not only that I paid less for the HC then they advertise the SC one for so that's another plus. Personally, I like it but if you don't have large hands you may find this a little cumbersome to deal with everyday.
After about 3 weeks with my Ballistic HC I could not be happier. This is by far the best case on the market for strength, looks, and durability. I have not had a single issue with my kickstand. I had read all the comments so I grabbed my kickstand and vigorously pulled and shook it. It did not budge one bit. Either it was redesigned or some of you are absolute cavemen lol. I'm assuming Ballisitic took care of the issue with a redesign

Why is Otterbox always so slow to release cases? This was okay years ago when high-end phones were few and far between. But seriously, it's been half a year since the E4GT was released. They need to get products to market faster; the bulk of their customer base has bought an expensive case from their competitors.
Finally. Gonna cop one of these tomorrow.

[RANT] Why do the fashion police have to get involved every time someone talks about a heavy duty case? These cases (Otterbox, Ballistic, etc) are meant to PROTECT your phone, not look cute and pretty. Not everyone is an IT geek that wears skinny jeans and thinks a phone is a fashion accessory. For some of us, our phones are TOOLS that get used in rugged environments and need some real protection. We will gladly throw a big, ugly, bulky case on our phones if it means they are protected. Considering my phone survived a 7 foot drop without a case, with minimal scratching... I can't imagine what it could survive in one of these cases.
