The backlighting on my keyboard hasn't worked since I rooted. Is there any kind of mod or kernal to flash to get it working again? Or maybe a setting I am missing somewhere? I know it is tied to the light sensor.
[EDIT: FIXED]
It ended up being the light sensor. It somehow got set to custom values, which were all set too low.

Hey all,
When I slide out the keyboard of my device the backlight didn't work. When there is enough light this is not a problem, but in the dark the backlight is still off. How can I get the auto-sensor working again like it did in the stock ROM?
I've turned off the auto-sensor now so the backlight does work, but I think it's a waste of battery when it's always on.
EDIT: Just fixed permissions via Rom Manager and rebooted they seem to be functioning properly now. In low lighting situations they now come on.
I just updated to the newest radio and for some reason I'm not sure if its related but my capacitive buttons don't seem to be consistently lighting up. This may be a stupid question but when are they suppose to come on?
Hi,
My automatic brightness was not working properly so i downloaded sensor test. The sensor works fine but it cuts in and out.
It keeps switching from 10/10 to the real value than back to 10/10.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Was working fine before i installed cyano
Thanks
Bumping this as I have a similar problem.
The sensor doesn't seem to recognise any light values between 10 and 300-350, it either says it's pitch dark or that I'm outdoors (checked with two different light sensor apps). I'm using the stable release of CM7.
It's causing problems with automatic brightness obviously, as I can only adjust the settings to either have a dimmed screen during the day, or have my eyes burnt out when it's actually pitch dark.
Any ideas?
CM7 has settings for auto brightness and it actually works. They're in the CM settings.
I've got a bog stock Desire running 2.2 and according to Sensor Test, the light sensor doesn't work at all!
Sometimes this has happend to me in CM7... but I reset the levels then it was working gud....

you can check this thread where all the levels are explained in detail for CM7
CM7 has its own brightness levels... but they are somewhat slow to update. I've tried changing their values - but it only helps a bit.
I must say that I was testing it indoors... not outdoors.
Hello,
I just got a new G2 today, and had a question about the keyboard back light on it. The keyboard backlight will not work, and was wondering if there was a way to get it to stay on whenever I have the keyboard open. The backlight only turns on when I change my light settings with the Power Control widget, but then shuts off.
Any ideas?

keyboard light is dependent on the ambient light sensor, if it is dark it will light up if it isnt it, it wont

I know that, but I think something might be wrong with it. I was outside late tonight and it was pitch black out, and the keyboard light still didn't work. But I'm not sure. Is there an override mod?

Grab AndroSensor from the Market, it'll let you know if your light sensor is working or not and help you narrow down the problem. The sensor is at the top of the screen so, with the app running, see if covering the sensor changes what light input its getting

I'm running the 8/12 build of jmz's primoC CM9. The backlight on my softkeys don't seem to be lighting up properly. When I go into settings and toggle my brightness off auto, the softkeys light up, but then they don't come back on while using the phone. When I toggle to auto, the softkeys turn off. Seems backwards...? I'm kinda stumped. Tried out Lux brightness and it seemed to fix the issue, but if I reboot the phone it gets confused again. Not a big deal during the day, but at night it's annoying to not be able to see these keys.
Anyone else having this issue? Thanks.
