[Q] remove exchange certificates - Desire General

Hi all,
A colleague of mine also has a desire, he configured his exchange (which works) but gets a lockscreen every x minutes due to the exchange certificate.
He finds it annoying that his whole phone is locked so now he deleted his exchange account in the default mail app and he uses Touchdown now (he only needs to enter the code when he uses the Touchdown app)
Problem is that even with completely removing the exchange account, he still gets the lockscreen.
I have Touchdown as well and don't have this issue, but then again I've never configured my default mail app for exchange, so I guess deleting the exchange account doesn't delete the certificates
Any thoughts on how to remove this certificate?
Cheers
B

I don't know but have you tried turning off credentials and deleting them from security options?
And also I understand that he removed his account from the "accounts and sync", right?

Multiple Exchange servers

Hi,
I'll be receiving my new toy next week and after being a HD2 user and growing tired of winmo I was hoping to have multiple exchange server support on the Desire.
According to android this is possible from 2.0.
However it seems HTC has disabled the function and only allows 1 exchange server to be entered.
My main reason for this setup would be to have my work e-mail and my google account ( mail/contact/calendar ) simultaniously on the phone.
Anybody got an idea how to get this working?
Perhaps a different app than the HTC mail application?
Any hints/tips would be appreciated
re: multiple Exchange server support
dirk07,
As far as I can see, there is no option for setting up more than one Exchange server in the Desire. As soon as you set up one Exchange account, when you try to add another account, "Exchange" is no longer in the list of options. However, you *can* have both Exchange and Gmail and numerous other mail accounts set up at the same time, which sounds like it would work for you. You normally would not access your Google account as an Exchange server, would you?
John
True..
However the reason I want to sync my gmail with exchange is cause I also need my contacts and calendar from them..
the work e-mail would need to be exchange as it is the only way I can reach it .. ( no imap/pop access )
Would it be possilbe when disableing sense?
or use something else to sync contacts/calendar?
Your contacts and calendar will come over automatically from your Google account (when you set up the phone, you provide your Google account details). You don't need anything related to Exchange to make your Google stuff synch - that is built into Android. I have a setup just like you, my work email comes across via Exchange, and the Google stuff comes across as well (contacts/calendar/mail) via the Google account setup on the phone.
John
Syncing contacts with more than one source is always a bad idea. I tried this on WinMo with exchange and windows live and found a couple of issues which you are likely to run into with exchange/gmail sync. They are:
1) Exchange sees the entries from live as unique, different entries resulting in duplicate contacts.
2) If you delete an entry from one source, it gets 'revived' when next sync with the other source.
There may be fixes for these issues now but I gave up on it long ago and use my exchange contacts folder as the source of truth.
Im pretty sure you would have experienced these problems before... just adding my 2p
Edit: forgot to mention - without sense, I don't even think you can sync contacts?? Anyone confirm?
@bcmobile
well i would only be syncing mail from one source and mail/contacts/calendar from another
I allready make a point of only keeping my contacts/calendar on one list so I dont get duplicates etc..
@jstegeman
I hope this works If google mail/contacts/calendar syncs by default I indeed would be able to add work mail as my one exchange source..
Guess I wont be able to test untill friday
you can definately have both setup i.e. exchange / gmail as i have. I only have contacts in exchange though. I have also setup gmail so can see emails from there also.
OK guys i thought i would summarise my battle with the energy ROM and activesync/sense 2.5 for my hd2
Previous i had o2 Uk's stock rom, it was ok, but my main mod was to pull email, contacts and calendar off my exchange server and sync the calendar and contacts with my google account through activesync. I used the EnableNonLocalCrossPolination method (ENLCP)to do this.
When i install this ROM i had one problem, the registry key ENLCP was not there. So i entered it and attempted the same trick. However sense would not let me add another activesync account.
Firstly i wiped the phone, then i went in and pair my phone with activesync on my pc. This would enable the ENLCP reg key that i was looking for. I then disconnected the phone, checked the ENLCP reg key on the phone, set it to 1, and then deleted the PC active sync profile on the phone and pc.
After another soft reset i disable sense from the home screen. Another soft reset.
On the next boot i enter the options for googles exchange server (m.google.com) and only ticked the contacts. These sync'd ok. I think enter microsofts email client and enter the 2nd exchange server. Here i only set it to sync my email. I then tested both exchange servers in activesync. They worked!
So i enabled calendar and contacts on both exchange servers and only email on one of them. This again sync'd great. I re-enalbed sense and did another soft reset for good measure.
Sense picked up the email exchange server, but not the google one! Great! Now i add the googlemail email as an imap account through sense and i am done.
Hopefully this helps someone as i have initially struggled with this ROM.

Arghhh... Hotmail/Gmail sync issues

Hey All,
Had the desire for a couple of weeks now and I must say I'm impressed with it, as most of you are as well.
I've come across the following very irritating problem though:
My primary e-mail address is hotmail. Been using it for years and years and I've never had the need to change to gmail. Having switched to android now I understand that I can't sync the phone to hotmail. I have it working on pop which is 'fine' but I want proper syncing of mail and calendars which is not supported.
Fair enough, I thought this was the time I'm supposed to switch to gmail. When I booted the phone up for the first time I was asked for a gmail account for google maps, etc. and I just used one I had created a while back. Now that I'm looking to migrate to gmail completely in order to benefit from syncing, etc. I want to change this e-mail address to another gmail one.
Has anyone managed to do this without doing a factory reset on the desire??
I've tried:
i. Changing the gmail password from a pc and rebooting the phone - it just says it failed to sign in and prompts for the new password, won't let you change e-mail address though.
ii. Clearing all cache's from google related application - gtalk, gmail, maps, gapps, etc. - This doesn't work either as somehow the account information is still held.
iii. Creating a secondary e-mail address and try get everything to use it instead then remove the primary one - didn't manage either. I changed google maps, gmail and the calendar app to use the new e-mail address but it still won't let me delete the other one as it says it's being used by some other app!
Any help would be much appreciated... I really don't feel like going through a factory reset and installing everything again!
Thanks!
Go to "Menu" - "Settings" - "Accounts & Sync", tap on the Google account en tap on "Remove account". (Go back to all accounts and you can add a new Google account.)

On this subject, my advice to anyone is to get their own domain name and then use Google Apps for Domains.
At present this is what I do for my email, but if in a few years time something better than Gmail comes along, chances are I can repoint my domain to a new mail service and thus keep my email address in perpetuity.
Regards,
Dave

Forgot to mention I tried this as well but it won't let me remove it as it says the account is being used by some application
Really frustrating!
I got this same problem as this old post, but can not find the solution....does anyone know the answer as time has moved on and maybe it is an available solution.
My issue is that I just flashed LeeDrOid 2.3b&c to my Desire. I entered my HOTMAIL e-mail details as the first address at the set up prompt. Now i can not findout how to delete that account.
It seems that the whole Android E-mail setup and operation is not really as good as Windows Mobile! or its operator error ;-)
For my Sync'd HOTMAIL I'm currently using TouchDown and set the server name to 'm.hotmail.com' this thirdparty software allows full syncronisation to my Hotmail account both ways including any folders that i choose, apart from the deleted bin on my Webmail does not get emptied if i delete all from the TouchDown application on my Desire.
On my Gmail i have created my account in the Exchange option and used m.gmail.com for the server, whilst this gives me a view of all the account folders all of them show "no mail" even though i have set the Receive days to 30 days and know that I have e-mails in the folders that are newer than 30 days old.
I really would like a fully operational integrated IMAP set up for both my Gmail accounts (i have 2 account) and one HOTMAIL account, ideally using the built in Gmail and "standard Mail" programs that come with FROYO Sense.
So anyone know the answer to achieving this?
i) How to delete my original Hotmail account entered on start up of my new ROM.
ii) Is it possible to set up withing the Sense builtin applications for Exchange Gmail and also for Exchange Hotmail so that i can do away with hte TouchDown application?
Thanx for any assistance on this.

[Q] E-mail account (Office365) wants to be able to erase all data?

My company's e-mail server was running Exchange 2007 up until Friday night, which I was able to link to with my GN (and for that matter, my Nook Color) via the stock E-mail app. Over the weekend they updated to Office365, and after going through all of the nonsense about deleting and re-adding the account, the app is now telling me I have to change my security settings and give the account device admin settings. Among these are "Erase all data" eek and "Set storage encryption," neither of which are things I want to do, let alone give a remote server the ability to do. Apparently I'm not the only one that's worried about this.
So, Is there any way to get past this craziness? This is really frustrating, because a lot of the time I'm not in the office, it's important that my e-mail and calendars are synced automatically. I don't want to have to use a mobile web interface, or manually copy each meeting or appointment from the desktop interface into GCal. FWIW, I'm rooted (see sig for ROM, kernel, etc.) and would be perfectly fine going with a 3rd party app, as long as I can get new mail and all appointments pushed to the phone.
ETA: Here's a screenshot of the "permissions" it wants:
That is set by your Exchange Admin Team. I know of Email.apk's that will bypass the PIN lock requirement, but not those permissions. I manage our Exchange 2007 environment, and when I used Enhanced Email it wanted to be device admin, basically turning on PIN lock requirement and enforcing our Exchange Policies. They would either have to assign another Active Sync policy to your user account, or ease up these security restrictions.

[Q] Google mail account Sync is not happening

Hello All,
I am very much new to using HTC wildfire S as an android smart phone. I have purchased this an year ago, though.
I will come to the point with out much discussion.Your help is much appreciated in filing a bug against HTC Keyboard sense or wrong password authentication mechanism.
Step i followed:
1.Day before yesterday, I have rooted my phone and i have got all the data back again from recovery.
2.Once the phone is reset, it was prompting me to set up a new gmail account to perform syncing of contacts and mails.
3.I have given my old crenditals of gmail and the sync worked.
4.Today, I got a message from google that, my gmail account is being accessed from canada maliciously. So, it prompted me to reset my password along with SMS verification code. This made my gmail account login stronger. During this process, I have reset my gmail account password. ( the same account is being used by my htc wildfire S phone).
5.Now, my wildfire S is not able to recognize my new password to gmail account. Neither it recognizes my old password.
6.I have tried different key board input mechanisms to make sure that i am entering correct password.
7.Now, I am exhausted and thus i am writing this post.
Please help me.
I am suspecting as a bug in htc while syncing with gmail authentication servers.
I had faced similar problem a month ago while connecting to facebook from my HTC Wildfire S phone. My new gmail account works fine from the dolphin mini browser. But, it doesnot work from native gmail and facebook applications.
Regards,
Sriram
Tried with another gmail account.. Now it is working fine.
As I said in my previous post that, my original gmail account with which i had registered my mobile is still not working.
However, I have registered another gmail account to sync with contacts. With my second gmail account, I am able to sync the contacts from google servers. Also, with out a registered gmail account, i am unable to download apps from htc Appstore as well as Android Market place.
Now, I tried deleting my first gmail account, which is not working since the time i have changed its password. It says that you cannot remove the account as it is being used by other programs. Restore phone to default settings.
With out resetting my phone, How can i delete my original gmail account which is of no use.
Thanks and Regards,
Sriram

Outlook.com EAS burning through App Passwords

I have an Outlook.com email account (@hotmail.com, actually) and 2FA on my Microsoft account. Per https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...mail-app-71147974-7aca-491b-978a-ab15e360434c I have the Gmail app configured to use ActiveSync to connect to my account and I've been using it in that configuration for a long time now. To get past the 2FA requirement for login Microsoft accounts have an "app password" you can generate that works as a non-2FA password to allow "applications" such as Gmail to log in.
Recently - the past few weeks - for some reason Gmail on my phone will tell me I need to reenter my creds for mail to sync. When I reenter the same creds I've been using it tells me it can't reach the server (BS). If I log in to my Microsoft account and generate a new app password Gmail takes it, resumes syncing, and does so for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. At that point it all starts over and I have to generate a new app password.
I've tried clearing out Gmail's data along with a force stop, then re-adding the account just as it was before. Unfortunately the same problems starts happening again. I have this same EAS configuration set up on other devices (an iPad for one) and it works flawlessly without this credential issue. Any ideas what could be going wrong here?
