Hello WP7 users!
Before I buy a WP7 phone, I was just wondering if in line call recording like the one in WM 6.5 HTC devices is available in WP7? That is calls should be recorded not from the mic, but from the line, so both parties can be heard clearly.
PS. Automatic calls recording without notifying the other party is NOT prohibited in my country
Not yet.
Actually even basic applications such as 'screen capture' are not proposed.
And I suppose MS with all its policies will never allow a in call recorder on the marketplace.
So it's likely there will never been one.
Thanks, arturobandini!
Sticking with WM 6.5 for now

Hi
Quite a while ago i had software on my Symbian OS Nokia that worked as an answer machine. It was great. I have had no luck finding one for the Pocket PC. Has anyone seen one about.
Some key advantages included:
No cost for reteiving messages from the network
Quick access to messages
Multiple answer recording depending on caller and situation ie friend calls answer 'hi man in a meeting leave a message' vs business caller 'Sorry i am in a meeting at moment...'
I have found a couple that uses sms to reply but none that actually record the voice.
Any ideas?

Im sorry, I might not have explained my self. I'm after software that will do voicemail. I want to take a voice recorded message from the caller rather than have it diverted to my network voicemail.
I like the sms idea though and I'm sure the 2 applications could be integrated etc.
Hi
I have been doing a lot of investigation into this subject as i think its a neat idea. I know it has been asked many many many times before in this forum as i have dredged deep into the archives so I'm just wanting to share some info as to what i have found and find out if there have been any new developments since the last relivant posts a few months ago.
I have found this software i used to use called smartanswer for a symbian nokia
http://www.symbianware.com/product.php?id=sanswer60&pl=n6600
So i know it is possible on a similar system but different OS. I haven't managed to found any real reason for it not being able to be done on a pocket pc yet although I'm sure there is a reason or else it would have been created several times over already.
Anyway its just my small blabber wasting time in my lunch break.
phatbloke:
I've been asked about this numerous times, and you say that you've found no good reason why it's not happened yet:
Basically, as I understand it, and I know next to nothing about this area, but basically, the Phone PocketPC is just a pocketpc with an entirely seperate piece of hardware for the phone. The two are independant.
Inorder to control the "phone", the pocketpc comunicates with it through a COM port, sending commands to start calls, data connections etc. However, as I understand it, we have no direct means to access the audio/in out. So, although this is bog standard on many intelligent phones, the pocketpc was never designed around phone hardware, but merely slapped on piggyback.
Being able to record the calls is obviously essential to the answering machine. Some of the clever boys on this site have said that this is impossible or unlikely until we reverse engineer the drivers, and this hasn't happened yet AFAIK. Again, if this is all ball-ocks then someone please correct.
I can monitor missed calls, hangup incoming calls, log all that and so on, but spooling audio in and playing something down the line evades us for now.
Look here towards the end for discussion and futile ideas I had:

PS if you follow the first thread, someone mentioned that Resco Sound recorder can record both in and outgoing audio on calls. Can you try that software? If that works, it might be possible. But I've seen no verification and don't have the opportunity to check it myself.
Hi all,
I am understanding; Microsoft don't publish some "sensitive" APIs like recording audio from downlink, etc. ..... I am Symbian Software Engineer; That is everyday life for me.
So, while using Symbian, you have the possibility to make requests to Symbian or Nokia for getting access to their internal API. We do that several times... perhaps for muting microphone, GSM trace information, etc. Exists there a business case to get access to Microsofts internal API?
A contact will be very helpfully!
Thanks a lot!

Yes! Buy yourself a Nokia Symbian S60 smartphone and then install IVCM.

Default record function under notes and HTC Voice recorder does that to an extent. You might want to try them first, before buying a Nokia Phone!

I think that will only record your voice. It does not record the voice of the caller. I think this is an issue with all phones using WM. I did read somewhere that Vito software might have a solution for this...
check out this blog for more info:

Hi, Try "Vito audio notes"
It's possible to set for record any conversation, and automatically save incoming and outgoing...
ooops... my english it's very terrible... so... it's better if You try this program...
this topic has been covered so many times......short answer, no you cannot record calls. there's a whole list of articles in the wiki right here
Another short answer is: yes, you can record a phone conversation, but only on speakerphone mode. The microphone has to pick up the callers voice from the speaker, most HTC phones have this hardware restriction where the audio stream cannot be captured internally.
could i say it's possilble?try this one:
.....send me pm
work like a charm
pls don't kill me i just want to help
later edit: cause i don't want to be killed i remove the link!who need the soft send me pm!
we wont kill u for trying to help, but for posting warez.......
You don't need to post warez, just tell us the name of this amazing software that's supposed to overcome hardware limitations! (Or am I too optimistic here? Is this just one more case of mic picking up sound from loudspeaker?)
it calls Resco Audio Recorders!try it !i offer link to some guys from here and if they want will report if is good or not!
later edit:
someone report it dosen't work but on my spv m3100 work very well!i give him instructions and i wait for report!if it works to him it works to everybody and in this case i will make a tutorial how to install and configure resco audio records
Guys just use Vito Audio Notes.
It record ur call (no need to turn on speaker) even u cant notice this.
Vito Audio Notes 1.32
Hrm this topic again...
From the audio notes webpage:
VITO AudioNotes does not record phone calls on Pocket PC due to operating system or hardware restrictions. On some Pocket PC Phone Edition devices VITO AudioNotes still can record phone calls without turning on speakerphone. Download the trial version and check if it records phone calls on your mobile device.

So apparently it works on some pocket PCs and does not work on others. Has anyone tried this with success on the hermes?

I tried Resco on my M3100, it records my voice but not the caller voice, it is too low. How did you resolve that ?

No need to turn on speaker? But you can still record both your own and the other party's voices? Please tell us how you managed to set this up!
I have a feeling that there are a lot of selfish people out there that think that "recording a telephonic call" means just their own voice and no need to record that pointless drivel of the other party
Hmmm.... I have a feeling that an answer will not be forthcoming...

dear Abubasim the answer come ...lattely but it come!it's true the other party voice is not very loud but if you have a pc i belive you can transfer the recording and listen as loud as you want!i tried to offer a solutions not a miracole!
I use Turbo Mobile Event ( http://www.turboirc.com/ppc/ ) and it works very well with my p3600 (Trinity) - it automatically record the call of the group of people that I need (bank-work-salesman etc...) but not the private group and also only if I'm at work - pity that the interface is bare

But does it clearly record the voice of the other party. My understanding it is a hardware limitation so that the other person voice will be recorded from the speaker so will not be very clear.
VITO Does not record any voice from the other party... It may on a 'trinity' or any other hardware, but on a Hermes, there is a hardware limitation...
People have tried a lot of softwares in the past, vito, resco et al, nothing works because of how the Hermes is designed...!
Hello All,
Would anyone know of such feature. in the nokia e90 there is a feature that when the person gets a phone call it speaks out the contact name using a voice does any one if there is the same is available for hermes, thank you all for all the great efforts
microsoft voice command does this however it is a big file if thats all your after. it also reads out messages...
Different than Micorosoft Software
Thanks, I am aware of this Microsoft Software, but I guess you have to record the contact name using your voice? in the new nokia you dont have to do so
"I guess you have to record the contact name using your voice"
No, if the number is in your cantacts with a name then it will tell you that "whoever" is calling.
I like MS VC as it allows anyone to use voice commands to call or bring up apps without you having to record ANY voice tags.
Cheers...
Hi
I am looking for a possibility to get some VIP calls and SMS while my WM5 smartphone (no touch screen) is in Meeting and/or Silent profile, so that I can get urgent phones from family or work while in a meeting or asleep. The definition of VIP can be simply some contact category, say, all those defined as Personal contacts.
I tried to look at some third party's application but couldn't find one that is not too complicated or doesn't do the job although, to me, it looks like a "must have" application.
Any ideas of such an existing solution or application?

i think samsung/google and skype have mutual hatred towards each other. Their support is just horrible.
any other suggestion for skype like app?
I will explain my situation a bit.
I have smart phone but other party doesn't. Our way was such that other party log in skype with computer and call me when I am logged in with my smartphone. We have to because I am usually at a place with WiFi but no reception.
Any suggestion?????
Nimbuzz, Fring, Tango
What version of Android are you running ? I’m on 2.2.1 (JPY) Skype for me is the best in terms of quality, lag and connection issues compared to other alternatives like Fring and Nimbuzz.
hey, ca7846!
you should try ooVoo Mobile Beta. you can make Phone to PC call and vice versa. and did I mention that you can make video call (of which Skype doesn't provide)? but it's still in beta testing, please take note.
Can you make calls with google talk on android, or is it yet implemented?
