It's here.
4gb SD Card
Orange branded box
Orange logo on back of case.
There's an Orange homescreen, but it's not the default.
There's no 720p video recording (I saw this claimed somewhere)
There a few Orange widgets and the web browser logo is branded but nothing major.
Nice mate.
Orange have called me back to say mine is out for delivery today and not tomorrow. No ETA though.
Hope the orange branding doesnt wreck the phone too much...
Is it all black? What's it look like? Took some pics of my Desire this morning but it looks terrible - not good at photography me!!

It's the 'brown' one
Thanks for the info.
Check the pink tint gray issue!
Why is it an issue? I don't even notice it, didn't even know about it until reading it on here...
Does it have Orange Maps installed? Can't see if this is a tariff option or just part of the Orange Desire package.
Ian A.
PS. And I can't wait 60 minutes for mine to turn up to find out!

HTC.com is a bit pink, but in normal usage I probably wouldn't have noticed it anywhere unless I was looking for it.

I haven't noticed any pink tint on mine.
most people in most circumstances won't notice the pink tint on some greyscale images. Therefore it's not an issue. It's simply a limitation of the hardware as has been explained many times. It only happens on specific greys and it just happens that the gmail app and the htc website use one of these shades of grey.
The other problem is that the tint is also subjective. Some people will see it and others will not, even on the exact same phone.
However, if when viewing a blank white page, your screen has a pink tint to it (as has been seen once or twice) then you have a problem.

yeah, I aint been worried about the tint at all.
Im just hoping that it gets rooted fully so I can store apps on SD card.
Paul from XDA already got root access but cant write anything to any of the protected partitions so he said he will try and find a way.
On mine, there is a slight pink tint. I'd say I would have noticed it without the forum but it certainly doesn't bother me.
The colour tint is approximately:
Red: 236
Green: 225
Blue: 234
Hue:208
Sat:48
Lum:17
as reproduced in Windows on a LCD monitor.

Tried turning the wifi off and just using the 3G connection, no luck though.
How are you finding it? Do you know of any way of removing some of the orange apps? Or are they stuck forever!?
stuck with them until their rooted.
once that is done, you can remove the preinstalled apps through a custom ROM, or through some ADB commands.
cant you just install the generic HTC Rom like people have done on thier t-Mobile handsets?
The HTC Desire does not have 720p recording 'yet' but this i assume will be released in the form of an update in the future.
does anyone know if Orange have sold out?
And if they have, when new stock will come?
Got mine from Orange on Friday as an upgrade. They wanted to charge me £50 but soon waived it when I mentioned T-Mobile and the fact I'd been a premium customer for 3-4 years. Hard day at work excited to get home and play since I've never had a touch before. Anyway...
Orange, in their 'wisdom' had decided to put their own stuff on the phone so within hours of getting my first android toy, I was on the net researching how to debrand the bloody thing. Within another hour I'd made a Gold Card and installed the only available Generic firmware image I could find. Which went without a hitch, following these:
(oh I'm not allowed to post outside links )
Great guides to the letter.
Orange need to stop messing with the firmwares like they always have (my last phone was a c905 I paid DaVinciTeam to debrand).
Anyway suffice to say, I'm happy as hell with the phone and really I'm grateful to Orange for sending it to me in 24 hours. AFAIK they're getting the all black ones in stock in a week or so Also the lady I spoke to who so kindly phoned me back when they were in stock this time round said they are suprising not so popular and not many customers are talking/enquiring about them.
I couldn't wait to get the device the day it came out, i walked 5 miles to the nearest Three store the day before it came out only to be disappointed after they lied to me by phone telling me i could get it, but never mind, i pre-ordered it and got it the next day when the store opened,
like with all technology i was super excited to get home and play with my new technology, all was well
until i started noticing some pretty extreme overheating, it was so hot while playing games that the plastic on the back actually deformed due to heat, i thought it was just me, so without giving a damn i went to the Three store and got it replaced, no questions asked.
That was just a week after purchase, the new device wasn't overheating it was obviously just bad luck or so i thought...
during the past 2 months i started noticing more issues with the device, HTC says they are using Gorilla glass,
so nothing new here, my past 2 phones had it too, but obviously something is wrong... i first noticed a 5 mm hardly noticeable scratch on the top left end of the screen, i was sad, it's a phone that's suppose to last me 2 years, but yeah, nothing big, but now i'm noticing a hell of a lot of scratches on the screen, these aren't big scratches, they are so called "micro-scratches" but you can still see them if you are looking for them.
So
Overheating
Micro-scratches
pretty bad, but that's only the start...
last week while watching a YouTube video i noticed a white pixel on a black screen, probably something on me screen i thought but no...
turned out to be a dead pixel, tried the usual dead pixel repair stuff but no, nothing worked, i'm trying not to notice it but c'mon, it's so visible
once you know it's there, so frustrating, nothing i can do about it.
thought that was the worst thing, and quite possibly it is, but now i noticed a yellow tint spot on the bottom left of the screen, i thought the worst was with me but no, there was more to come.
so
Overheating
Micro-scratches
Dead pixel
Yellow tint spot
Pretty bad... but there's more...
Wi-Fi antenna connection fault, doesn't affect all but i got that too, it's a joke!, have my phone less than 2 feet away from the router yet i still get weak signal until i squeeze the phone (No this is not the damn iPhone 4 cellular signal fault for god sake)
So yeah...
Today i have these issues
Micro-scratches
Dead pixel
Yellow tint spot
Wi-Fi antenna fault
I'm tired of defending HTC, i loved my HTC Desire, and my HTC Desire HD, not a single problem with them,
but the fact that i had to swap my phone the week i got it, and now i have to put up with so many faults just because i unlocked my phone with your Dev site is a total unacceptable joke,
I was lucky to be one of few who's phones were suppose to be sent off to Taiwan for testing for that wi-fi issue,
that would mean i'd get a new HTC One X and all the faults would once again be gone, but HTC care manager Zoe N doesn't care any more...
it's been a week since she last replied to me, people on the phone won't let me speak to her either,
Can anything change the experience i had and make me forget it? defiantly not, unless i get a full refund and get to keep the phone.
I hope nobody else has to put up with so much crap from HTC.

I spoke to HTC number of times about the issues, but i have a voided warranty and that's the end of it.
my only hope was Zoe, the HTC care manager, but she doesn't do much caring obviously.
Do i plan on keeping the HTC One X? hardly got a choice.

And this needed its own thread because? In case you're new, a number of phones sold have issues and none of what you posted is any different than what's been posted before. If you felt like venting you could have posted in one of the complaint threads. Based on the defect poll you have a 30+/-% chance of getting a phone that's not "perfect" however the people voting defined it. Looks like you drew the short straw.
There are thousands of people with One X's participating in this forum. If everyone posted their life story (good or bad) it would take up the entire front page (and more). Do what everyone else who has experienced a problem has done. Return or sell it, exchange it if you can, or send it in for repair. Those are pretty much your choices.
If you purchased it in the UK, you're protected by consumer law. You can't sign that away (by agreeing to when you unlocked the device), the WiFi and yellow spot are more than enough to get a repair.

A few users have reported a Blank Screen of Death, with myself included.
The problem being that the phone's display doesn't switch on when you wake up the device. At this time, Everything else will including the Digitizer and Capacitive buttons.
I have spoken with HTC service centers across Australia and NZ to come to the conclusion that this is a motherboard problem. The infamous flickering issue seems to be involved also, which ends up shorting out the video driver.
The issue isn't just limited to the screen not displaying anything either, there's also the possibility that the back light will cut out, and sometimes leading to corruption on the display.
This isn't just with some devices either, it seems like anyone that has had the screen flickering issue are at risk of this.
To give you an idea of how much it costs to fix this issue, I was quoted at $250 AUD for just the motherboard alone.
The best part is, HTC may also deny your warranty for unlocking your bootloader, as they have with me.
I'll be posting more information as it develops.
EDIT 29/07/12 :: I'm going to request a transcript of my last conversation with HTC but until then, they're denying that this is a problem and saying that it's the user's fault. How? We use our phones to much, or inappropriately.
It's becoming obvious that they're trying to avoid spending anymore money fixing these issues, and have decided just to move on and release a new One X model. (according to news sources.)
Also, Boobinator just posted a video of the One X's screen corrupting while it isn't stuck under the BSOD which you can see here and here
Just to recap.
When the initial issues were found with screen flickering and corruption on the display, we were told it was a software issue.
Many months later, I along with many of you are still experiencing it, even though it's not nearly as bad as it once was.
Now there are growing reports that One X's are starting to lose their displays, and the poly-carbonate weakening and bending the antenna pins. (You can find more information here)
This is something you should all be aware about when purchasing this phone.
Best of luck!

Update Bump
Maybe us in America can file a class action lawsuit? I'm no lawyer here but anyone with better understanding of American consumer laws chime in?
This is problem that occurs with normal usage of the phone.
Another day, another hardware issue. HTC is going down the drain, im hugely disappointed in the way they are handling this mess. Improper testing, too slow to fix problems or ignore/deny them. Bull**** games about unlocking and warranty and now they are already talking about releasing more phones. Its easier for them to move on to a new model than to do the right thing and do a complete recall. Is this a QC issue or a design flaw, with all the negative reports I'm thinking its the latter.
HTC better handle this properly, they need to stop development on all new products untill this is solved.

Can u please send me details about the store that sells the motherboard ?
I have the same problem...and I need my phone fixed !
Thx
Is this the same flickering that happens in some ROMs when you rotate the phone?
Mine too
This just started happening to mine Nothing displayed on the screen, but it still responds to inputs. Even rebooting into fastboot, same problem. So everything is functioning except the display.
Have just handed it back to vodafone for repair, don't like my odds with the unlocked bootloader though :/
I had this issue on Viper or Android Revolution, but not on other ROMs. But I'm starting to get wifi issue, scratches, scratches on camera lins. I should buy S3, not this.

sent it back because of flickering. I just hope they will fix the problem properly and change the motherboard.

This happened to my Incredible S too if any one's interested.....
I'm not buying the HOX, I'm sorry. There's just too many different issues for too many people with this phone. It's an expensive top of the line phone, that does appear to be pretty shoddy put together. I don't care if it's under warranty and I have dumbass-insurance if I break it, but I can't send my phone inn all the time even if it's free. You shouldn't have to send it in at all.......
I presume now know we know why HTC is loosing money, market share and their stocks are going down....
This happened to me too, about a month ago, the phones been in repair since then(1 month, are you freaking kidding me HTC). I also unlocked the bootloader, lets see whether HTC charges me or not.
Also, I managed to get the display to work(somewhat) after shaking the device a bit. But even after that the display wont work properly, I even have 2 short videos of the screen acting weird when i got it to work. Here they are - Video 1 Video 2
Sorry for the ****ty quality, got it on my iphone. This was after I shook the device and the display magically started working. Even with the display working you can see it is really weird, even unresponsive at times.
So guys, there are a lot of places you can buy motherboards from, but they will charge you a lot more than what it's worth mainly because of the shortage within HTC.
I'm so sorry all of you are going through this, but i think we need to raise awareness of this issue. People are buying these phones without realizing there's a good chance they're going to have either bad WiFi antenna's or even a bad motherboard.
Send this to your friends, post it around, contact HTC.
Best of luck!
I am having this problem as well, as well as the WiFi antenna issue. The WiFi antenna somehow bent itself somehow, because after a while it was back to normal signal strength, so I didn't feel like sending the phone away for a month. But now with this screen issue it really is unusable, so it seems I don't have a choice anymore

Heat damage.
I doubt it's heat damage, i hardly played games on mine and it had that problem. I think the most i played was Triple Town, and that was it.
Also, wouldn't it be a massive problem if it was heat damage? That means the tegra 3 processor can't handle stress, and given that the phone inherently has heating issues, this just draws the conclusion that the Tegra 3 is bad news?
it may be a faulty soc
From what I've heard, it's been linked directly to the flickering screen problem. Which could mean that the first batch of One X's have all faulty Soc's? I mean, it's not uncommon for there to be manufacturing difficulties for the first few batches, but this is just absurd.

Not all of the first batch flickered. Stop exaggerating.
Something i noticed when setting my wallpaper, I have always used a black wallpaper since i had the Galaxy s2 and Galaxy Nexus to "Save battery" but I went to set one on the s3 and notice on the bottom of the screen it appears to have a "scratch" buit it only appears when using a black background.
I have ran the LCD test *#0*# and it does not appear on any other color other than black... is this a common issue or should i attempt to get it replaced?
Anyone else with this? It is almost like a DARK STREAK that stands out...Im kinda of OCD when is comes to things like this, is this something i could take it back for? and if so do i just let them know my screen has a dark spot?
LCD test isn't working for me on my GS3. You sure it's *#0*#?
EDIT: Downloaded LCD test and on black screen, it is completely black (like the screen is off), which is what it's supposed to look like. You might have dead pixels or something?

Yes this is something you can exchange it for technically.
Ok im trying to recreate the problem but just like the link said Im not able to get the "darker" pixels to show in rooms with light...

Tell them the truth. If they say "no" then ask for a manager. If the manager says "no" then ask to speak to the district manager. Just don't be mean about it and they should be able to help you. They most likely won't doubt you as they won't be able to test it since those damn stores are so bright. It'll just be easier for them to exchange it.

+1 or have one of their techs take it to the bathroom and turn off the lights.
I'm on my phone so I'm not up to digging up the links, but this has been discussed several times, both here and in the international version forums. They're usually referred to as "ink marks" and from what little I've read, they're on every single gsiii, and maybe even some other amoled devices including older galaxy S's.
I love my screen. However just last night I was curious so I installed the dead pixel test app from the market. In a dark room, on the black screen in that app, if you get your eyes focusing just right, you can see some black-er spots. It really doesn't bother me though, because I never notice them during normal usage.
I'm not saying to just ignore what you feel is a problem, but beware your replacement may have similar markings.
Why does the title of this thread have Sprint in it? carrier is irrelevant for this question.

I played this "game" a few weeks ago. I also live outside the US, so I had to send it back for repair, due to a speaker problem (the speaker was 'crackling') and no firm in europe could fix it.. I'm seeing something similar but It's not always there, only shows up occasionally when the screen goes off and I wake it, started happening using liteROM
It's not a "stuck pixel". AMOLEDs can have dead pixels at worst (and it's MUCH rarer than in LCDs and usually it's only one color that doesn't respond). There's some deeper issue. Take a screenshot and see if it shows up there -- that'll tell us if it's in software or hardware.
