[Q] Mytouch 3g froyo failed (Status 7) - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been searching the forums and can't find a fix for this.
I had been running CM 6.0 but hated it. The day the news that 2.2 was dropping I decided to unroot my phone. I used these instructions to unroot
Code:
theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-unroot-your-mytouch-3g/
After that I followed these instructions to update to froyo:
Code:
intomobile.com/2010/11/04/install-android-2-2-1-froyo-mytouch-3g-tmobile/
Problem is, the second update fails like this:
Code:
"Verifying package update ...
Installing update...
assert failed:file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "tmobile/opal/sapphire/sapphire:1.6/DMD64/21415:user/ota-rel-keys,realease-keys" ||
file_getprop("system/build.prop",, "ro.build.fngerprint") == "t-mobile/opa;/sapphire/sapphire:2.2.1/FRG83/60505:user/release-keys"
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted."
I have no idea what any of this means. Apparently something is missing... If anyone can guide me through what I need to do, I'd be one happy camper!

You've posted in the wrong section. This is the myTouch Slide's section not the myTouch 3g.

Help Please! Unable to install CM6

Hi,
I followed the method to root 2.2 (it came installed on my Evo) in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765496
It appeared to work perfectly, when I look in my list of apps, I see superuser permissions...
However, every time I try to install CM6, I get this error:
assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "0.76.2000"; assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "0.79.0000";
I am running bootloader 0.93.0000 with S-OFF.
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong and what I need to do to fix it. I have searched and searched, and spent several hours trying to figure this out before asking for help.
Thanks...

Flash an eng-bootloader.
Should be the mtd-eng.img in toast's root method. Just follow the instructions specific to that file.

Desire ClockworkMod debrand

Hi there,
i need a little help.
i have rooted my HTC Desire (Froyo hboot 0.93) with ClockworkMod..
and now i want to place a fresh new ROM with the ClockWork Recovery.
But it wont work it always said:
assert failed: file_getprop( fingerprint.somethingelse )
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
ive tested with Authentification On and Off with no success
i have had that happen to me
your provider wouldnt happen to be us cellular would it? do you know if your phone is CDMA?, because every time i have tried to install a new rom from here i get that same exact same error message and think its because my phone is through us cellular and its cdma, its just a matter of waiting for some one to make a custom rom
Moved to general as not development.
Please don't make new threads in development with questions or user support issues.

Few things. As clavoi said, make sure you have the proper hboot drivers installed. You can find them on the unrevoked website where it says "more info".
here are instructions on how to properly install the drivers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787304
those instructions are a little old, but they are still the correct procedure, I just did this last weekend for my brother in law's evo, just make sure you have the correct drivers from the Unrevoked site itself. Also, be sure that anything that communicates with your phone via usb is uninstalled or disabled. (htc sync, dropbox, pda net, etc, anything that can/will communicate). Also disable your antivirus.
I just did this last weekend and it worked great. Try again after your sure you have the drivers installed correctly and that no programs are trying to talk to your phone during this process. Report back on your progress man
Folks, i'll make sure i have the correct drivers loaded once i get home today, thanks for the heads up on this.
i will report back once i do.
Folks, i just loaded my hboot drivers last night and then tried running unrevoked and got the following message:
Failed to unlock nand flash.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
What hardware version?

[Q] Can't update brand new phone!

Hi!
I've just purchased a new HTC Desire Z (carrier free, no Sim-lock), and It wants me to install the 1.72 OTA update, but when installing it, this is what happens:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Copying fotaBoot to /data/system for customize reload...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/customize/CID/HTC__001.xml", two cids here
E:Error in /sdcard/download/OTA_Vision_HTC_WWE_1_72_405_2_R-1_1_34_405_5_P_release_blablabla.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I've tried to make a goldcard from my SD, but it didn't solve the problem.
The phone is new, so it's not rooted, or stuff like that.
What is going on? Why can't I update it? I've even tried to copy the update.zip to the root of the SD, and try to update it manualy from recovery mode, but it has this very same problem as stated above!
This thing is just driving me crazy, and I'm stuck to 2.2.
Android version: 2.2
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
2.6.32.21-gd2764ed
1.34.405.5 CL273326 release-keys
1.34.405.5
Is there any fix?
Thanks in advance!
Somebody? Any ideas?
it sounds like you're wanting to get Android 2.3? if that is the case, installing 1.72 OTA update will actually get you further away at this point.
you'll need to root (on your DZ, you need to be version 1.34 to do this) and install a Gingerbread rom (the only vanilla gingerbread roms we have right now are CyanogenMod-based) to get a taste of 2.3... as of today, there is no official Gingerbread release for our devices.
as to why the OTA update is failing, I'm not going to be of much help.. you'll have to wait for one of the gurus to take notice.
Thank you for your reply!
Nah, actually I'd like to get the phone up to Android 2.2.1 with this 1.72 OTA update.
And if some time HTC will have an Android 2.3 OTA, I'd like to get that one then.
But I don't want to root it, or hack anykind of unofficial ROM on it, just the factory OTA, which currently fails on update! And I don't really understand why is that, and also searched it in the forum + google, and couldn't find anybody with the similar problem

gotcha. well, if I had to guess, I'd say something went wrong with the goldcard creation.
maybe try going through the goldcard setup again and triple-check that you've done everything correctly? that's about the best advice I have to give ya... since I've never owned an unbranded phone and haven't done an OTA update on my G2 (I rooted before I installed any), I'm just not very experienced.
there are several very knowledgeable dudes on here who own DZs, hoping one of them can chime in and offer their insight. best of luck.
Thanks
Maybe I'll just write to HTC
I wonder what would hapen if I'd (try to) delete this file:
/system/customize/CID/HTC__001.xml

[Q] assert failed: apply_patch_check when installing OTA update

I have a SGS3 from Credomobile (Sprint), SPH-L710, 4.0.4, L710VPLI3, Kernel: 3.0.8-618049-user, [email protected] #1, SMP PREEMPT Wed May 23 22:26:52 KST 2012, Build number: IMM76D.L710VPALI3, Hardware: L710.14
and since November I've been getting notifications of OTA System Updates every 10 days or so. Problem is, every time I tell it to proceed, it starts and fails with an error like this:

I'm not sure if this is always the same OTA update, or if it's a new one every time.
FWIW, at the end of October I rooted it using team epic's http://www.epiccm.org/2012/06/cwm-re...-variants.html, and then unrooted it again using http://www.epiccm.org/2012/06/sprint...k-restore.html, precisely because I wanted to get the OTAs.
Device Status is "Normal". Is there any other way to restore it to stock, so I can get OTAs? Or any other way to solve this problem?
Thanks!
It sounds like you may not have the stock recovery. Do you?

I might not. I'm unsure how to install the stock recovery. I'll google a bit to see if I can find out myself.
Thanks

For the record, I used the method in this post and it worked great:
